Many Japan experts have argued that increasing prosperity of the nation will help maintain the so-called "one and one-half party system," thus forecasting a bright future for the conservative Liberal-Democratic Party. Even though Japan emerged as one of the world's leading industrial nations, the incumbent Liberal-Democratic Party had experienced a considerable amount of loss in its electoral strength during the l960s, and there seems to be every indication now that Japan is headed for a multi-party cleavage system. The article features a discussion on personality and social psychology. Four principles represent the basic generalizations of behavior of all mammals as well as of the human species. Infants respond to social stimulation is the first principle according to Dr. Rheingold. The second principle, that the infant is active in the control of his environment, is a persuasive statement of a fact that has been too long neglected. The third and fourth principles, which concern the modifiability of the infant's social behavior and the corresponding modification of his social environment, represent the first steps in recognizing the major problem in developing a systematic view of the process by which socialization occurs.

Virginity is most often treated as a commonly agreed-upon "given "in the literature on sexuality. Here the concept is seen to be a variable one, assigned different meanings in different social contexts. The concept of virginity is also placed in a larger, macrosocial framework incorporating elements of a broad sexual ideology. Data supporting these positions are presented as well as evidence pertaining to the lack of differential adherence to relevant sexual norms by males and females. Tentative conclusions are drawn that norms relating to virginity tend to be supported by both males and females, but for different reasons, and that these norms are supported and rejected about equally in society as a whole. The article features a discussion on the development of social behavior in the human infant. Four general principles of behavior under which the facts and current theories about human infancy could be organized. The principles were: that the infant is responsive to stimulation; that the infant is an active organism; that the infant's behavior is modifiable; and that the infant in turn modifies the environment, particularly the social environment. The principles apply to the behavior of older as well as younger organisms and to the behavior of one species as well as another.

The article focuses on the results of the study on breast and bottle nursing of children under varied personal-social backgrounds. The interaction effects of the bottle and formula feeding are analyzed involving favorable or unfavorable environment especially for boys. It is indicated that breast feeding was more preferable to girls with warm mother while formula feeding showed less disturbance to those with cold mothers. Short nursing was better for boys in an unfavorable setting while those in favorable environment preferred long nursing. On the other hand, girls with stable mothers valued short nursing while long nursing were to those with uneasy mother.

The article discusses the position of science in education. The April, 1937, issue of this periodical includes articles concerning the natural and social sciences. The author says that the meanings assigned to "Science" and "education" must be stated to answer the place of science in education. Science is defined as an organized knowledge of the natural environment and the method by which that knowledge can be acquired. Education may be thought of as a process by which an individual may be prepared to join positively, productively and appreciately in the social environment in which he may find himself. Most textbooks of science as well as most textbooks are not scientific in method of statement although usually logical in organization. Study of science, scientifically, can provide both the usable knowledge necessary in this age of science. In addition, it also provides attitudes and habits of thinking which is necessary in this age of social unrest.
