The article investigates the seasonal variations in the acidity of woodland soils in chosen stations in Bagley Wood, near Oxford, England at monthly intervals from December 1932 to November 1937. Specifically, the authors investigate the acidity on the upper and lower layers of soil in seven stations which represent three types of woodland soil. Findings show that there are statistically significant annual and monthly variations in soil acidity, and these variations are related to total annual rainfall and monthly variations in rainfall, respectively.
