Presents information on the construction of the Rye-Oyster Bay bridge, a six-mile bridge between Rye and Oyster bay. Fact that the Rye-Oyster Bay bridge was proposed by the New York State Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Transportation Authority and is supported by the construction industry; Report that the purpose of the bridge is to provide greater access between Long Island, New England and northern New York, and to relieve congestion on existing routes; Fact that the 33 million cars and trucks expected to use the bridge each year will cause a major increase in noise level and air pollution concentration which in the immediate area will violate federal minimum standards; Deliberations on environmental issues that needs to be taken care of before going ahead with the construction.
