Abstract
This article reports on microbiology in terms of dental handpieces and instruments. The article discusses the air-turbine handpiece, its use and mechanisms, and the aerosol it generates when it is activated. Information is provided on the bacterial contamination of exam rooms when the tool is used, noting the roles of air samplers in research.
