The article reports proportionate increase in students planning to attend college was off-set by a decrease in the proportion planning to get jobs immediately after graduation. In 1950, 30 per cent of the boys planned to seek employment whereas 11 years later only 15 per cent had such plans, a reduction of 50 per cent. The decline for girls with this plan was not quite so great, and the proportion of the total group decreased one-third, from 86 to 24 per cent. High school seniors over the past decade reflect many social and attitudinal changes. Hot and cold wars, rockets and space travel, computers and automation, and a changing economy and labor market have all influenced the attitudes of young and old toward social problems and personal decisions. Throughout this era, in both public and private thought and action, education-particularly advanced and post-secondary education-has received unprecedented emphasis. This paper is concerned with the plans of students in one state, Minnesota, to partake of higher education. The increase in college plans was proportionately greater among the boys than among the girls, although the proportion of girls planning to attend college did increase from 84 to 87 per cent. The increase also was proportionately greater among students coming from metropolitan areas than from other areas, and smallest for students coming from towns and small cities.

The article presents information about an editorial entitled "Illiterates of Science" that was published in a Saint Paul, Minnesota paper "Pioneer Press." The editorial was related to Klaus Fuchs, the German-born English physicist who passed many secrets of the atom bomb to Russia. He was a one of the brilliant physicist. He had succeeded in educating himself to a degree and he decided that his choice of courses had been wrong. Such men are not genuinely educated. They may acquire an education after they have become scientists.

In analysing the correlation between education and development and education and level of occupation the hypothesis is put forward that the role of formal education in the distribution of occupational roles increases from a stage of complete under development but decreases again at a stage of advanced development where education tends to become a necessary but no longer sufficient condition. A phenomenon of `super-education' arises when the occupational structure remains largely static and this situation is analysed through a survey of the population of Montevideo which also shows the relationship between education and degrees of urban socialization. The article discusses the family camps in Camp Patterson, Lake Washington, near Mankato, Minnesota. The camp developed four years ago when the families which made up the Southern Minnesota Cerebral Palsy Club undertook the camp for family recreation and education. There should be at least one physically handicapped children on each families in order to join the camp. The Mankato Kiwanis Club furnishes the camp, and sponsor each handicapped child with $10 fee. The family camp became what its name suggests in the fourth year. There are more fathers who attended the camp, ideal weather contributed to a fine week of fishing, swimming, and cooking, and 14 children that are physically handicapped enjoyed the camp with 12 ordinary children.
