Abstract
The article discusses formation of Eosinophlic Granulocytes in the Oesphageal Lymphomyeloid tissue of the Elasmobranchs. In elasmobranchas an important lymphomyeloid or blood forming tissue, forms a white mass in the wall of the oesophagus. This tissue is known as the organ of Leydig, since it was first described by Leydig around 1850. The organ of Leydig may be voluminous; a weight of about one and half kg has been measured. The organ produces leucocytes, but its structure and function are poorly known. This aticle presents some observations on the organ of leydig in elasmobranchas.
