Without a new vision of public-private interaction to bind our efforts together, any actions business and government may take to solve the massive and complex problems of environmental control, decaying cities, minority deprivation, and the like, will necessarily become more half-measures. To avoid the wasted effort, frustration, and perhaps disaster, business must press our political leadership to forge a new, comprehensive, sober, and realistic ideology for the United States. In the process, some cherished notions related to the ethic of private property and private enterprise may have to go by the board. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
