Comments on the big oil companies spending a lot of money promoting the existence of an energy crisis in the U.S. Series of editorial-page advertisements run by oil firms advising the American public on how to cut home heating and gasoline costs; Use by the oil firms of the advertising campaigns to criticize environmental laws they are forced to observe and lend weight to arguments in favor of higher fuel prices and looser government controls; Implications on the energy industries and environmental policies.
