In the following article the author, at one time a member of the Institute's staff and now Personnel Manager in a manufacturing firm with more than fifteen hundred employees, discusses the relation of the research carried out by industrial psychologists to problems arising in personnel management. In particular, he deals with the selection of employees in general, the selection of those who become instructors, the treatment of maladjusted workers and the need for industrial psychology and psychiatry in the field of industrial relations.
