Several letters to the editor are presented in response to articles in previous issues including, "Kraftco's president makes it to the top," in the April 22, 1972 issue, "A second generation for plastic paper," in the April 15, 1972 issue and "Munich: A guide for the Olympics and after," in the March 25, 1972 issue.

Germany's rearmament program, one of the government's biggest political headaches, ran into new snags this month as draft boards throughout !the country reported that eligible nineteen-year-olds were not reporting for draft registration. German boys born in July, August or September of 1937 were scheduled to appear for registration during the first two weeks in November. In Nuremberg, Germany, once the center of Nazi fanaticism, less than 25 per cent showed up by the deadline date. In Munich, Germany, cradle of the Third Reich, less than 10 per cent reported. In Cologne, only half appeared. In Stuttgart, the total reporting was only 30 per cent.

On November 7, one day before the outbreak of the "beer-hall revolution" in Munich, a detachment of Hungarian soldiers surrounded the Vienna express train coming from Budapest and arrested one of the passengers, Francis Ulain, a member of the Hungarian Parliament. At the same time it provides, in the main, that Bavaria is to supply Hungary with soldiers, particularly with such as have some special training, and which, it is implied in the text of the agreement, could be used in case Hungarian labor should strike as a protest against the "liberating action" of the reactionaries.

Strangely enough it was quiet, backward Bavaria, with its sleeping villages and its Catholic population, largely reactionary, a peasant land with little industry, and without much wealth, that took the lead in the German revolution.
