This article discusses the supervision of data processing (DP)manager with a clear orientation toward company goals in the U.S. The qualifications for a data processing manager should includes a technical expertise to direct the development and operations of the department and to assess the use of present equipment and the need for expanding or replacing it. In managing the DP manager is not conceptually different from any other management activity. The normal inclinations of the data processing staff will usually result in a steady growth of the department in terms of equipment, staff and number of applications.
