Purely financial incentives, though of obvious importance, have certain limitations. They appeal only to one side of an employee's nature, they are usually impermanent in their effects, and they may tend to stereotype' output and produce an attitude of resistance to change. The present article urges the importance of such non-financial incentives as pride in work and desire for appreciation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
