A correlation has been observed between the rate of bradykinin inactivation by saliva and the periodontal status of 22 out of 24 subjects studied The inactivation process proceeded at a more rapid rate in the group with definite signs of periodontal disease than in the apparently "normal" group. The increased kininase activity of the involved group is probably related to the presence of a greater number of damaged cells Although the evaluation has been performed on a relatively small number of subjects, the differences went consideration as being potentially useful for evaluation of the periodontal status of oral tissue.
