The Notre-Dame de Reims, also known as the Reims Cathedral (Rheims is an alternate spelling), is the historical site where the Kings of France were coronated, and the seat of the Archdiocese of Reims. The cathedral exhibits many examples of Gothic architecture and medieval stained glass windows. Many of these windows were damaged by German shelling during World War I, resulting in glass shards such as the three seen here. Each is a different color: green, red, and black. Written on a piece of paper within the display case along with the glass is the note, "Glass from ruined Rheims Cathedral".
