- Abstract
In order to evaluate the content of the courses and programs of the Moraine Park Technical Institute (MPTI) and to identify weaknesses and strengths in meeting the needs of the employee and employer, an in-depth evaluation of the school's five departments (trade and industry, business education, health occupations, agriculture, and general education) was conducted in 1973-74. A total of 1,021 responses were retrieved from 43 MPTI instructors, 36 advisory committee members, 6 area employers, 117 MPTI students, 51 MPTI graduates, and 10 management staff members participating in a Nominal Group Problem Identification session. These responses were supplemented by the results of a questionnaire completed by 104 advisory committee members and 84 area employers. Major problem area discovered include: the need for revisions in course objectives and materials; suggested changes in district policies, rules, and regulations; a need for additional or updated facilities; a desire for additional courses and programs; suggested changes in the scheduling of classes and classrooms for students and instructors; a need for better instructional methods; and a need for better communications, better couseling and testing of students. Twenty-four recommendations are made, and data are organized into 38 tables. (NHM)
