The article demonstrates how the artist's brushes are made. The process includes shearing and cutting of the hair from the animal's tail, preparing the hair for brushmaking, and placing the shaped and trimmed hair into ferrule. The handle is then stamped and the ferrule is attached to the handle. Finally, the brushes are inspected and shaped. The key considerations in brush design and the different grades of hair used in brushes such as red sable, black sable, and ox hair are also discussed.
