Nervous innervations of sweat glands were studied on the human axillar skin. No myelinating fibers were found around the gland. Instead, nonmyelinated were abundantly observed both around apocrine and eccrine glands, more numerous in eccrine. These fibers terminate with syncytial protoplasmic network without particular ending. Histochemical reactions of cholinesterase were demonstrated in the nervous network, especially around the eccrine glands. On the other hand, activities of monoamine oxidase were localized around the apocrine glands and the glandular cells. The presence of these enzymes suggests the possible transmission of cholinergic and adrenergic impulses to the effective cells.

Despite of effects for localizing vitamins in the tissue, histochemical demonstration has only been in vit A, B-2, and C. Recently, techniques have been successively devised. Most of them have been performed in our laboratory. In this paper progress of histochemistry of vitamins has been dealt with.

A histochemical fluorescence-microscopic detection method of vitamin D was deviced and using this method the histological distribution picture of vitamin D in each organ was examined and from these hostological pictures the absorption, storage and excretion of vitamin D were discussed.

A procedure for converting thiamine in tissue slices into thiochrome and for applying the fluorescence to histochemical study was described and the various conditions were examined. The thiamine distribution pictures obtained by this procedure in various cells, tissues and organs are described in detail.
