Abstract

In our opinion, endoscopic sphincterotomy is a sale and bloodless method for removing common duct stones. The indications for the procedure are: 1. common duct stones residual or recurrent after cholecystectomy with or without cholcdocholithotomy; 2. common duct stones impacted or incarcerated at the ampulla or in the lowermost portion of the common duct and 3. choledocholithiasis in poor operative risk patients.
