Abstract

A study is made of a turboelectric submarine propul ion system incorporating propellers at both e ds of the s ip. T e propellers are driven by free-flooding motors located in the propeller ubs. Propeller blades are arranged to be controllable in pi ch individually, and enc provid directed thrust for ship control. Design requirements for machinery nd pitch changing systems are developed, and a feasible design is evolved. (Author)
