This article described a digital workflow for layering composite resin restorations by using a digital software program and 3-dimensionally printed templates. To mimic the appearance of the natural tooth, the computer-aided design was used to copy the shape of the contralateral tooth. Three-dimensionally printed templates to replicate the contralateral tooth accurately and rapidly can help dentists build different layers of dentin and enamel composite resin, achieving layered esthetic outcomes. This workflow provides an efficient and accurate procedure, reduces chairside time, and simplifies the application of the technically sensitive composite resin layering technique. Toddlers are more prone to exposure to widely distributed air pollution and to health damage from it. However, systematic summaries of evidence on protective behaviors against air pollution for toddlers are lacking. To identify currently available evidence on protective behaviors against air pollution for toddlers. The literature retrieval was performed in selected databases, limited from 2002 to 2022. Studies meeting the following criteria were included and praised: 1) clinical practice guideline, systematic review, expert consensus, recommended practice, randomized control test (RCT) or cohort study published in Chinese or English; 2) studies reporting effects of protective behaviors against air pollution on toddlers' health outcomes or providing recommendation on these behaviors. The evidence in the included studies was extracted, synthesized and graded for evidence summary. Studies (N = 19) were used for evidence summary development and 35 pieces of best evidence were synthesized, which were divided into three categories, including "avoiding or reducing air pollution generation", "removing existing air pollution", and "avoiding or reducing exposure to existing air pollution". More evidence is needed to identify protective measures against outdoor air pollution and tobacco smoke. Research in the future should focus on the safety, effectiveness and feasibility of universal measures implemented in toddlers, and try to develop protective measures specific to toddlers which highlight their special nature. The accuracy of digital waxing–guided trial restoration protocols that have been implemented with ceramic veneers has not been reported. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the accuracy of 3 digital trial restorations fabricated from digital waxing for ceramic veneers. A uniform 0.3-mm digital waxing added to the facial surface of 30 maxillary central typodont incisors was created in a software program. The trial restorations were fabricated on typodont teeth with autopolymerizing acrylic resin by using a silicone index based on 3-dimensionally printed casts designed from the digital waxing. The 30 maxillary central incisors were divided into 3 groups: the depth cutter (0.5 mm, Komet) (DC) group, the round bur (1.5 mm, Diatech) (RB) group, and the specially designed calibrated depth bur (laser mark of 0.5 mm, Gaofeng) (CD) group. The 3 groups were randomly prepared with a random number table by 2 experienced prosthodontists aiming to produce an even facial clearance of 0.5 mm. The dimensional differences in the standard tessellation language (STL) files between the surfaces of the original teeth, digital waxing, trial restorations, and prepared teeth in the software program were measured and analyzed at the same 9 points on the labial surface. One-way ANOVA with a post hoc test was used to identify significant discrepancies between trial restorations and waxing and differences in the reduction depth of typodont teeth (RDT) and the reduction depth (RD) among the 3 techniques (α=.05). The mean relative differences (MRDs) were calculated to determine the accuracy (%). The thickness of the trial restorations was significantly greater than that of the digital waxings, with a discrepancy of 0.20 ±0.14 mm, especially at the cervical site. With the use of a trial restoration, the RDTs of the middle (-0.01 ±0.11 mm) and cervical locations (0.09 ±0.20 mm) showed significantly smaller preparation depths than did the other locations. Significant differences in RD were found among the 3 guided techniques (P <.05). Group DC presented the most accurate result of 0.51 ±0.08 mm with an MRD of 2%, whereas the results of 0.57 ±0.10 mm with an MRD of 14% and 0.60 ±0.11 mm with an MRD of 20% were obtained from group RB and group DC, respectively. The trial restoration was significantly thicker than its corresponding waxing. The DC technique presented the most accurate reduction result among the 3 protocols examined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To 1) determine the prevalence and types of disrespectful maternity care witnessed by students; 2) describe students' perceptions of respectful maternity care and associated factors; and 3) investigate whether witnessing disrespectful care influences their perceptions of respectful maternity care. Limited evidence exists about nursing and midwifery students' perceptions of respectful maternity care and prevalence of disrespectful maternity care in China. Understanding students' perceptions can inform pre-registration curricula and clinical practice programs, promoting the implementation of respectful maternity care. An exploratory national online survey was conducted. Data were analysed using bivariate analysis and multi-factor analysis of variance. Among 733 students, positive perceptions towards respectful maternity care were common. Approximately one-fifth witnessed disrespect, with physical violence, lack of communication and untimely care most frequently reported. A better understanding of respectful maternity care was associated with female students of Han ethnicity, majoring in midwifery, undertaking a longer internship/practicum and reporting fewer instances of observed disrespect. Although students reported positive perceptions of respectful maternity care, inadequate understanding was evident. Incorporating relevant content about respectful care into the curriculum is suggested. Reducing students' exposure to disrespectful maternity care may ensure that certain forms of disrespect or abuse do not become normalized among students. This requires system-level efforts to create a safe and supportive working environment for maternity health providers. To promote respectful maternity care in China, system-level changes are warranted. Respectful maternity care needs to be essential content in pre-registration midwifery and nursing curricula. This investigation aims to explore relationships between adult attachment, emotional self-disclosure, and quality of life (QoL). The study sample completed the Chinese versions of the Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory, the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast Scale, and the Distress Disclosure Index between October 2021 and March 2022. The relationships between adult attachment, emotional self-disclosure, and QoL were investigated using a multiple mediation effects test and structural equation modeling. Attachment anxiety and avoidance were risk factors for young Chinese breast cancer survivors' emotional self-disclosure and QoL. Emotional self-disclosure mediates the association between attachment anxiety or avoidance and QoL. Assessing and easing attachment anxiety and avoidance may improve the emotional self-disclosure and QoL of young breast cancer survivors. This study confirms that adult attachment plays an important role in young breast cancer patients' adaptation to the disease and that high adult anxiety and avoidance levels can significantly reduce emotional self-disclosure and QoL in young breast cancer survivors. Identifying attachment patterns can help caregivers better understand patients' responses, adaptation, and treatment adherence to cancer, thereby helping caregivers develop targeted and personalized cancer care practice programs or psychotherapy interventions to improve patients' physical and mental health outcomes. Sperm competition and cryptic female choice (CFC) are 2 significant mechanisms of postcopulatory sexual selection that greatly impact fertilization success in various species. Despite extensive research has conducted on sperm competition and the evolution of sperm traits in internal fertilization, our understanding of the female preferences in selecting sperm is still limited. Here, we aimed to investigate the characteristics of CFC in chickens by utilizing artificial insemination with mixed semen to control for variations in male fertilization success caused by female perception of male quality and mating order. Our results revealed that the offspring from multiple-mated females exhibited mixed paternity. Although the males had an equal number of viable sperm, 1 male consistently exhibited a 15% higher success rate on average, regardless of whether the insemination was performed with fresh or diluted semen. This result suggested that this male demonstrates superior performance in sperm competition, and exhibited a potential advantage in fertilization success. While the dominant male generally made a greater genetic contribution to most offspring, the degree of this advantage varied greatly, ranging from 11.11 to 75%. Furthermore, our study provided evidence of female preferences influenced the precedence of sperm from certain males over others. Interestingly, this bias is not consistently observed among all individuals, as offspring derived from some females were predominantly sired by an overall disadvantaged male while others were predominantly by a different disadvantaged male. It remains challenging to design alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst able to stably operate at ampere-level current density. In this work, we successfully synthesized heterostructured Ni 3 S 2 /Cr 2 S 3 nanosheets on nickel foam (Ni 3 S 2 /Cr 2 S 3 /NF) for high current HER electrocatalysis in alkaline media. As-prepared Ni 3 S 2 /Cr 2 S 3 /NF reaches 0.5 and 1.0 A cm−2 currents at 230 and 333 mV overpotential, respectively. After 50 h test at 0.5 A cm−2, the potential of Ni 3 S 2 /Cr 2 S 3 /NF remained almost unchanged. This impressive HER performance stems from its unique hybridization nature enabled hydrogen spillover, in which Cr 2 S 3 efficiently catalyzes the Volmer step, i.e., water dissociation to generate hydrogen, and the latter further transports to neighboring Ni 3 S 2 via spillover to facilitate the molecular hydrogen formation. This work provides a feasible strategy to synthesize efficient and durable HER catalysts for ampere-level water splitting. • Heterostructured bimetallic sulfide Ni 3 S 2 /Cr 2 S 3 was prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method. • The catalyst exhibits remarkable HER activity under alkaline conditions. • The hydrogen spillover provides an effective way to accelerate multi-step HER through relay catalysis. • The catalyst requires low overpotentials of 333 mV to reach 1000 mA cm−2 with long-term durability. Seminal fluid, once believed to be sterile, is now recognized as constituting a complex and dynamic environment inhabited by a diverse community of micro-organisms. However, research on the seminal microbiota in chickens is limited, and microbiota variations among different chicken breeds remain largely unexplored. In this study, we collected semen samples from Beijing You Chicken (BYC) and Tibetan Chicken (TC) and explored the characteristics of the microbiota using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Additionally, we collected cloacal samples from the TC to control for environmental contamination. The results revealed that the microbial communities in the semen were significantly different from those in the cloaca. Firmicutes and Actinobacteriota were the predominant phyla in BYC and TC semen, respectively, with Lactobacillus and Phyllobacterium being the dominant genera in each group. Additionally, the seminal microbiota of BYC exhibited greater richness and evenness than that of TC. Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) indicated significant intergroup differences between the seminal microbiotas of BYC and TC. Subsequently, by combining linear discriminant analysis effect size and random forest analyses, we identified Lactobacillus as the predominant microorganism in BYC semen, whereas Phyllobacterium dominated in TC semen. Furthermore, co-occurrence network analysis revealed a more intricate network in the BYC group than in the TC group. Additionally, unique microbial functional characteristics were observed in each breed, with TC exhibiting metabolic features potentially associated with their ability to adapt to high-altitude environments. The results of this study emphasized the unique microbiota present in chicken semen, which may be influenced by genetics and evolutionary history. Significant variations were observed between low-altitude and high-altitude breeds, highlighting the breed-specific implications of the seminal microbiota for reproduction and high-altitude adaptation. The presence of a significant number of melanocytes in the ovary and follicular membrane of Silky Fowl suggests their potential involvement in follicle development. Currently, there is a lack of available data regarding to the isolation of primary melanocytes from adult chickens. To date, primary melanocytes and their in vitro culture system have been successfully conducted in the peritoneum of chicken embryos. Herein, melanocytes from silky fowl ovaries were isolated and identified. Silky Fowl ovaries were obtained by mixed digestion of 0.1% collagenase II and 0.25% trypsin-EDTA. Melanocytes could be further purified and cultured up to 5 generations in vitro. RNA-seq analysis was used to investigate whether there were differences in the functional status of melanocytes in different tissues and developmental stages. Consequently, differential gene expressions between peritoneal and ovarian melanocytes were compared. These findings demonstrated that the Silky Fowl ovary had higher expression levels of genes involved in the production of sexual hormones and melanogenesis, while those of melanocytes derived from the peritoneum were involved in amino acid metabolism, lipid synthesis, and overall metabolic rates. This suggests that the role of melanocytes is dependent on the origin tissue and developmental stage, and is tightly connected to the function of the specific source tissue from which the cells were derived.
