The rising prevalence of mental illness is straining global mental health systems, particularly affecting older adults who often face deteriorating physical health and decreased autonomy and quality of life. Early detection and targeted rehabilitation are crucial in mitigating these challenges. Mindfulness acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) holds promise for enhancing motivation and well-being among the elderly, although delivering such psychological interventions is hindered by limited access to services, prompting exploration of remote delivery options like mobile applications. In this paper, we introduce the BrainHeart App (v.1.1.8), a mobile application tailored to improve physical and mental well-being in seniors. The app features a 10-day ACT program and other sections promoting healthy lifestyle. In a pilot study involving twenty participants, individuals engaged in daily mental exercises for 10 days using the app. Clinical evaluations, including assessments of psychological flexibility, overall cognitive profile, mindfulness disposition, cognitive fusion, and heart rate collected with Polar H10, were conducted at baseline (T0) and one month post-intervention (T1). Analysis revealed significant improvements in almost all neuropsychological scores, with high usability reported (system usability scale average score: 82.3 ± 9.31). Additionally, a negative correlation was found between usability and experiential avoidance (r = −0.51; p = 0.026), and a notable difference in heart rate was observed between baseline and post-intervention (F-value = 3.06; p-value = 0.09). These findings suggest that mindfulness-ACT exercises delivered via the BrainHeart App can enhance the well-being of elderly individuals, highlighting the potential of remote interventions in addressing mental health needs in this population. Clinical High Risk for psychosis (CHR) refers to a phase of heightened risk for developing overt psychosis. CHR often emerges during adolescence or early adulthood. CHR has been identified as a group to target for intervention, with the hope that early intervention can both stave off prolonged suffering and intervene before mental health challenges become part of an individual's identity. However, there are few treatment modalities that can address some of the specific needs of CHR. Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT) is an integrative psychotherapy that can be applied to the CHR population. MERIT offers unique advantages to working with the CHR population as it aims to improve self-direction and recovery through stimulation of metacognitive capacity, a phenomenon that has been associated with recovery. This paper explores unique aspects of the CHR population and how MERIT can address barriers to recovery for individuals experiencing psychosis-like symptoms. Several case examples and a clinical vignette using MERIT to support patients with CHR are offered to exemplify this approach. Refugee children displaced by war suffer incredible amounts of physical and psychological trauma during and post-displacement. War is not partial to children, and they are subjected to as much extreme violence as adults. This paper explores the mental health of refugee children following war and was guided by the research question: What are the mental health experiences of refugee children displaced by war situations? A secondary data analysis was conducted on publicly available documentary short films and instructional videos on psychological therapy with refugee children and families. The data were analysed through Qualitative Conventional Content Analysis (QCCA). Three major categories emerged regarding the well-being of refugee children: (1) children are not spared from war trauma, (2) children live in perpetual fear and anxiety, and (3) war-related violence ignites aggressive behaviours in children. To increase positive mental health outcomes, school psychologists need to implement trauma-informed therapy that focuses on decreasing psychosocial reactions to war. In recent years, social assistive robots have gained significant acceptance in healthcare settings, particularly for tasks such as patient care and monitoring. This paper offers a comprehensive overview of the expressive humanoid robot, Qhali, with a focus on its industrial design, essential components, and validation in a controlled environment. The industrial design phase encompasses research, ideation, design, manufacturing, and implementation. Subsequently, the mechatronic system is detailed, covering sensing, actuation, control, energy, and software interface. Qhali's capabilities include autonomous execution of routines for mental health promotion and psychological testing. The software platform enables therapist-directed interventions, allowing the robot to convey emotional gestures through joint and head movements and simulate various facial expressions for more engaging interactions. Finally, with the robot fully operational, an initial behavioral experiment was conducted to validate Qhali's capability to deliver telepsychological interventions. The findings from this preliminary study indicate that participants reported enhancements in their emotional well-being, along with positive outcomes in their perception of the psychological intervention conducted with the humanoid robot. Introduction: Chronic non-communicable diseases, including diseases of mental origin such as Alzheimer's, affect all age groups and countries. These diseases have a major impact on the patient and their family environment. It is interesting that different questionnaires are measured in the same direction, given that different health questionnaires are used to measure caregiver burden. Objectives: To identify which type of intervention is the most appropriate to improve the health of the primary caregiver in patients with dementia. To understand the role played by the nurse within multidisciplinary teams and to know whether the different questionnaires used in the studies measure caregiver health in the same direction. Methods: A systematic search of the published and gray literature was carried out without restriction of the language used in the studies. Caregiver burden of patients with dementia, receiving an intervention to improve caregiver burden, was assessed. Standardized mean difference was used as the effect size measure, and there were possible causes of heterogeneity in the effect size. Results: In total, 1512 records were found, and 39 articles with 4715 participants were included. We found individual information with an effect of 0.48 (CI95%: 0.18; 0.79; I2 = 0%); group therapy with an effect of 0.20 (CI95%: 0.08; 0.31; I2 = 6%); workshops with an effect of 0.21 (CI95%: 0.01; I2 = 48%) and 0.32 (CI95%: 0.01; 0.54; I2 = 0%) when a nurse intervenes; respite care with an effect of 0.22 (CI95%: 0.05; 0.40; I2 = 66%); individual therapy with an effect of 0.28 (CI95%: 0.15; 0.4; I2 = 68%); and support groups with an effect of 0.07 (CI95%: 0; 0.15; I2 = 78%). Conclusions: The magnitude of the effects of the interventions has been low–moderate. Different instruments are not associated with the magnitude of the effect. Children from vulnerable backgrounds often have insecure attachment or disorganized attachment, which are related to psychological troubles, and such children need interventions to help them heal. The attachment system reorganizes in middle childhood, and other important adults play a considerable role in children's lives. Thus, it is essential to weigh the impact of psychosocial interventions, while the main focus of the intervention is the staff member's direct work with the child through a trusting relationship. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate whether children's attachment security and mental health outcomes change after participating in a trauma-informed, attachment-based, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) provided in a daycare center. It was a case-series study involving twelve children aged 8–11 years. The child attachment interview (CAI), CBCL/6-18, TRF/6-18, and clinical interviews for parents and children were used, measuring the change between the TBRI implementation in the daycare center and after one year. For ten participants, we noticed an improvement in mental health; for seven participants, security scales improved; for two participants, their disorganized attachment changed into insecure–dismissing. We have preliminary evidence that vulnerable children may benefit in terms of attachment security and mental health from the trusting relationship that staff build using the TBRI. Multidimensional models of perfectionism postulate the existence of various perfectionism traits, with different effects on mental health. In order to suggest parsimonious targets in psychological interventions for university students, this study aimed to explore whether, how, and which individual perfectionism traits are uniquely associated with stress and well-being. The participants were 253 students aged 18–30 who completed the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale, and the Warwick–Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale. Controlling for the common variance of perfectionism traits in statistical analysis, it was shown that (1) Personal Standards were associated with higher well-being and lower stress, (2) Concern over Mistakes and Doubts about Actions were related to lower well-being and higher stress, (3) Parental Expectations and Parental Criticism were not correlated with stress, and (4) Parental Criticism was associated with lower well-being. In the multi-predictor mediation model, with five perfectionism traits as predictors, perceived stress was a significant mediator between several perfectionism traits (i.e., Personal Standards, Concern over Mistakes, and Doubts about Actions) and well-being. Overall, Personal Standards, Concern over Mistakes, and Doubts about Actions seem to be parsimonious psychological targets, with Personal Standards expressing mental health-promoting effects, whereas Parental Expectations and Parental Criticism seem to be less important psychological targets.
