Avoiding financial losses requires preventing catastrophic oil‐filled power transformer breakdowns. Continuous online transformer monitoring is needed. The authors use paper insulation to evaluate transformer health for continuous online transformer monitoring. The study suggests a new artificial intelligence method for estimating paper insulation residual life in oil‐immersed power transformers. The four artificial intelligence models use backpropagation‐based neural networks to predict paper insulation lifespan. Four primary transformer insulating paper failure indices—degree of polymerisation, 2‐furfuraldehyde, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide—form the basis of these models. Each model, including the backpropagation‐based neural networks, estimates paper insulation life using one failure index, along with moisture and temperature data. Optimisation techniques enhance hidden layer neurons and epoch count for improved performance. Results are validated against literature‐based life models, establishing a precise input–output correlation. This method accurately predicts the remaining useable life of power transformer paper insulation, enabling utilities to take proactive measures for safe and efficient transformer operation. There is a growing trend of using artificial intelligence, particularly deep learning algorithms, in medical diagnostics, revolutionizing healthcare by improving efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes. However, the use of artificial intelligence in medical diagnostics comes with the critical need to explain the reasoning behind artificial intelligence‐based predictions and ensure transparency in decision‐making. Explainable artificial intelligence has emerged as a crucial research area to address the need for transparency and interpretability in medical diagnostics. Explainable artificial intelligence techniques aim to provide insights into the decision‐making process of artificial intelligence systems, enabling clinicians to understand the factors the algorithms consider in reaching their predictions. This paper presents a detailed review of saliency‐based (visual) methods, such as class activation methods, which have gained popularity in medical imaging as they provide visual explanations by highlighting the regions of an image most influential in the artificial intelligence's decision. We also present the literature on non‐visual methods, but the focus will be on visual methods. We also use the existing literature to experiment with infrared breast images for detecting breast cancer. Towards the end of this paper, we also propose an "attention guided Grad‐CAM" that enhances the visualizations for explainable artificial intelligence. The existing literature shows that explainable artificial intelligence techniques are not explored in the context of infrared medical images and opens up a wide range of opportunities for further research to make clinical thermography into assistive technology for the medical community. This paper combines artificial intelligence deep learning technology to optimize the wine making process of mango wine. Moreover, in view of the shortcomings of traditional electronic nose data processing methods, a deep learning method based on SSAE‐BPNN is proposed for electronic nose data processing. In addition, according to the characteristics of automatic learning features, this paper uses a deep learning method based on SSAE‐BPNN to simplify the process of traditional data processing methods. Finally, this paper constructs an electronic nose system that can be used to identify mango wine making characteristics, and enhances the effect of electronic nose recognition through deep learning. Through the analysis, it can be seen that the mango wine making process optimization method based on artificial intelligence deep learning technology proposed in this paper has a certain effect, and it has optimized the traditional mango wine making process. Adsorption cooling and desalination systems have a distinct advantage over other systems that use low‐grade waste heat near ambient temperature. Since improving their performance, including reliability and failure prediction, is challenging, developing an efficient diagnostic system is of great practical significance. The paper introduces artificial intelligence (AI) and an automated machine learning approach (AutoML) in a real‐life application for a computational diagnostic system of existing adsorption cooling and desalination facilities. A total of 1769 simulated data points containing data indicating a failure status are applied to develop a comprehensive AI‐based Diagnostic (AID) system covering a wide range of 42 input parameters. The paper introduces a conditional monitoring system for adsorption cooling and desalination systems. The novelty of the presented study mainly consists of two aspects. First, the intelligent system predicts the health or failure states of various components in a complex three‐bed adsorption chiller installation using the extensive input data sets of 42 different operating parameters. The developed AID expert tool, based on selecting the best from 42 models generated by the DataRobot platform, was validated on the complex, existing three‐bed adsorption chiller. The AID system correctly identified healthy and failure states in various installation components. The developed expert system is very efficient (AUC = 0.988, RMSE = 0.20, LogLoss = 0.14) in predicting emergency states. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought new reconstruction opportunities for the intelligence of the advertisement industry through the help of AI technologies such as machine learning and deep learning. First, the relationship between AI and the attractiveness of green advertisements is investigated, and the influence of different AI technologies in green advertisements on consumers' perception of the attractiveness of green advertisements is summarized. Second, based on the green advertisement dissemination rate data set, the data visualization exploration is carried out, and the data deletion and coding processing are carried out aiming at different characteristic variables. Finally, according to the problems existing in the current green advertisement communication and the high‐dimensional and sparse characteristics of the communication rate data set. In this paper, based on Deep FM (Factorization Machine), Gradient Boost Decision Tree (GBDT) is added to assist the experiment, and the prediction performance of green advertising communication is tested. The results are as follows. (1) Different AI expressions in green advertisements will affect consumers' perception of the attractiveness of green advertisements. (2) The prediction ability of Deep FM model after feature engineering is better than that of data cleaning only. The prediction effect of the model is obviously improved. Artificial intelligence technology is constantly developing and changing. Due to the continuous development of technology and production of carbon emissions, various problems have occurred, forcing various regions to start promoting low‐carbon work. What kind of method can effectively and quickly improve the performance of carbon emissions has become one of the current research topics that has attracted much attention. In response to this problem, it is of great significance to study in the field of carbon emission performance improvement methods. With the in‐depth research on carbon emissions, the research on the intervention of water conservancy policies in carbon emissions has gradually been carried out, and its functional effects are of great significance to solve the problem of improving carbon emissions performance. This paper has aimed to study the impact and mechanism of water conservancy policy on carbon emission performance in the context of artificial intelligence. Through the analysis and research of the water conservancy policy under artificial intelligence, the double difference model (DID) is used to evaluate it, so that it can show the impact and mechanism on carbon emission performance, so as to solve the problem of improving carbon emission performance. This paper has analysed water policy, carbon emission performance and DID model under artificial intelligence. Its influence and mechanism have been experimentally analysed, and related theoretical formulas have been used to explain. The results have shown that the water conservancy policy has a significant and continuous driving effect on the reduction of carbon emission intensity, and its interaction coefficient under the control variable is −0.934, which is significantly negative. Further analysis of variables has shown that the energy intensity coefficient is 0.714, and the secondary industry coefficient is 0.924, which are both positive and significant. Water conservancy policies mainly reduce carbon intensity through the improvement of energy efficiency and industrial structure upgrading. It can be seen that water conservancy policies under artificial intelligence can meet the needs of improving carbon emission performance, and the level of economic growth and green development has been greatly improved. It discusses the advances in AI-assisted radar sensing applications and the challenges that hinder its adoption in this field. The papers cover a range of topics, including health monitoring, human activity recognition, voice identification, elderly care health monitoring, track-to-track association, signal pre-processing, traffic congestion alleviation, and target recognition. Mental health chatbots (MHCBs) designed to support individuals in coping with mental health issues are rapidly advancing. Currently, these MHCBs are predominantly used in commercial rather than clinical contexts, but this might change soon. The question is whether this use is ethically desirable. This paper addresses a critical yet understudied concern: assuming that MHCBs cannot have genuine emotions, how this assumption may affect psychotherapy, and consequently the quality of treatment outcomes. We argue that if MHCBs lack emotions, they cannot have genuine (affective) empathy or utilise countertransference. Consequently, this gives reason to worry that MHCBs are (a) more liable to harm and (b) less likely to benefit patients than human therapists. We discuss some responses to this worry and conclude that further empirical research is necessary to determine whether these worries are valid. We conclude that, even if these worries are valid, it does not mean that we should never use MHCBs. By discussing the broader ethical debate on the clinical use of chatbots, we point towards how further research can help us establish ethical boundaries for how we should use mental health chatbots. This paper describes a novel method for detecting child malnutrition based on artificial intelligence and facial photography. Estimates of severe and moderate acute malnutrition in children are critical for rapid emergency responses. However, the two traditional measurement methods, mid‐upper arm circumference (MUAC) and weight‐for‐height (WFH), are impractical in conflict and catastrophic disaster situations. They require well‐trained enumerators, cumbersome equipment, and close supervision. The Method for Extremely Rapid Observation of Nutritional Status (MERON) addresses the problem, using simple facial photographs. Facial features are extracted to predict Body Mass Index (BMI) in adults and Weight for Height Z Score (WFHZ) in children under five. MERON correctly predicts adult BMI classification with 78% accuracy. A variant of the model, trained on a sample of 3167 children in Kenya, successfully classified 60% of cases. On most measures, MERON was easier and more culturally acceptable to use than the traditional measurement methods. If MERON were to be trained and validated on a larger sample, with more extreme cases, it would provide a practical solution to a recurrent humanitarian problem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the global monitoring of smart cities, the demands of global object detection systems based on cloud and fog computing in intelligent systems can be satisfied by photographs with globally recognized properties. Nevertheless, conventional techniques are constrained by the imaging depth of field and can produce artefacts or indistinct borders, which can be disastrous for accurately detecting the object. In light of this, this paper proposes an artificial intelligence‐based gradient learning network that gathers and enhances domain information at different sizes in order to produce globally focused fusion results. Gradient features, which provide a lot of boundary information, can eliminate the problem of border artefacts and blur in multi‐focus fusion. The multiple‐receptive module (MRM) facilitates effective information sharing and enables the capture of object properties at different scales. In addition, with the assistance of the global enhancement module (GEM), the network can effectively combine the scale features and gradient data from various receptive fields and reinforce the features to provide precise decision maps. WeatherBench 2 is an update to the global, medium‐range (1–14 days) weather forecasting benchmark proposed by (Rasp et al., 2020, https://doi.org/10.1029/2020ms002203), designed with the aim to accelerate progress in data‐driven weather modeling. WeatherBench 2 consists of an open‐source evaluation framework, publicly available training, ground truth and baseline data as well as a continuously updated website with the latest metrics and state‐of‐the‐art models: https://sites.research.google/weatherbench. This paper describes the design principles of the evaluation framework and presents results for current state‐of‐the‐art physical and data‐driven weather models. The metrics are based on established practices for evaluating weather forecasts at leading operational weather centers. We define a set of headline scores to provide an overview of model performance. In addition, we also discuss caveats in the current evaluation setup and challenges for the future of data‐driven weather forecasting. Plain Language Summary: Traditionally, weather forecasts are made by models that attempt to replicate the physical processes of the atmosphere. This has been very successful over the last few decades as better computers, better observations and model upgrades have lead to steadily improving weather forecasts. However, with rapid advances in artificial intelligence (AI), the question can be asked whether one can simply learn a weather model from past observations or reanalyzes. Identification and controlling of non‐linear and complex dynamical systems have been a major concern and a serious topic of study in the field of adaptive control systems. Various techniques based on artificial intelligence have been used for this purpose. For modelling and control of plants, it is essential to optimize the values of the parameters associated with the respective technique. Searching the right or optimum value of the associated parameters is known as optimization. The intelligent water drop (IWD) algorithm is an optimization algorithm derived from the natural intelligence of water drop, which always chooses the shortest possible path while travelling from rivers and lakes towards oceans and seas. This paper introduces a new way of visualizing and understanding the IWD algorithm and presents its respective application in the field of modelling and controlling of non‐linear dynamic systems with the help of illustrative examples. Fuzzy type‐1 and recurrent fuzzy systems have been optimized using this algorithm. Its learning ability is compared with that of the grasshopper algorithm, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) based algorithm and the gradient descent method. In this paper, we present a novel paradigm for disease detection. We build an artificial intelligence based system where various biomedical data are retrieved from distributed and homogeneous sensors. We use different deep learning architectures (VGG16, RESNET, and DenseNet) with ensemble learning and attention mechanisms to study the interactions between different biomedical data to detect and diagnose diseases. We conduct extensive testing on biomedical data. The results show the benefits of using deep learning technologies in the field of artificial intelligence of medical things to diagnose diseases in the healthcare decision‐making process. For example, the disease detection rate using the proposed methodology achieves 92%, which is greatly improved compared to the higher‐level disease detection models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Material science has historically evolved in tandem with advancements in technologies for characterization, synthesis, and computation. Another type of technology to add to this mix is machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Now increasingly sophisticated AI‐models are seen that can solve progressively harder problems across a variety of fields. From a material science perspective, it is indisputable that machine learning and artificial intelligence offer a potent toolkit with the potential to substantially accelerate research efforts in areas such as the development and discovery of new functional materials. Less clear is how to best harness this development, what new skill sets will be required, and how it may affect established research practices. In this paper, those question are explored with respect to increasingly more sophisticated ML/AI‐approaches. To structure the discussion, a conceptual framework of an AI‐ladder is introduced. This AI‐ladder ranges from basic data‐fitting techniques to more advanced functionalities such as semi‐autonomous experimentation, experimental design, knowledge generation, hypothesis formulation, and the orchestration of specialized AI modules as stepping‐stones toward general artificial intelligence. This ladder metaphor provides a hierarchical framework for contemplating the opportunities, challenges, and evolving skill sets required to stay competitive in the age of artificial intelligence. Most existing multi‐view stereo (MVS) methods fail to consider global context information in the stage of feature extraction and cost aggregation. As transformers have shown remarkable performance on various vision tasks due to their ability to perceive global contextual information, this paper proposes a transformer‐based feature enhancement network (TF‐MVSNet) to facilitate feature representation learning by combining local features (both 2D and 3D) with long‐range contextual information. To reduce memory consumption of feature matching, the cross‐attention mechanism is leveraged to efficiently construct 3D cost volumes under the epipolar constraint. Additionally, a colour‐guided network is designed to refine depth maps at a coarse stage, hence reducing incorrect depth predictions at a fine stage. A machine learning‐based optimized droop method is suggested here to simultaneously reduce the production cost (PC) and power line losses (PLL) for a class of direct current (DC) microgrids (MGs). Traditionally, a communication‐less technique known as the hybrid droop method has been employed to decrease PC and PLL in DC MGs. However, achieving the desired reduction in either PC or PLL requires arbitrary adjustments of weighting coefficients for each distributed generator in the conventional hybrid droop method. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a systematic approach that capitalizes on the benefits of artificial intelligence to accurately predict both the PC and PLL in a DC MG. Furthermore, an optimization technique relying on the gradient descendent method is employed to independently optimize both PC and PLL for each scenario. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed through a comparative study with classical and hybrid droop coordination schemes under various scenarios such as rapid load changes. Contemporary distribution networks can be seen with diverse dispatchable and non‐dispatchable energy resources. The coordinated scheduling of these dispatchable resources with non‐dispatchable resources can provide several techno‐economic and social benefits. Since battery energy storage systems (BESSs) and microturbine units are capital intensive. A thorough investigation of their coordinated scheduling on a purely economic basis will be an interesting and challenging task while considering dynamic electricity price and uncertainty of renewable power generation and load demand. This paper proposes a new methodology for optimal coordinated scheduling of BESSs and microturbine units considering existing renewable energy resources and dynamic electricity price to maximize daily profit function of the utility. In this study, a recently explored modified African buffalo optimization algorithm is employed. The key attributes of the proposed methodology are comprised of mean price‐based adaptive scheduling embedded within a decision mechanism system to maximize arbitrage benefits. Decision mechanism system keeps a track of system states as a‐priori thus guides the artificial intelligence‐based solution technique for sequential optimization. This may also reduce the computational burden of complex real‐life engineering optimization problems. Further, a novel concept of fictitious charges in coordination with BESS management algorithm is proposed to restrict the counterproductive operational management of BESSs. Occluded person re‐identification (Re‐ID) is to identify a particular person when the person's body parts are occluded. However, challenges remain in enhancing effective information representation and suppressing background clutter when considering occlusion scenes. This paper proposes a novel attention map‐driven network (AMD‐Net) for occluded person Re‐ID. In AMD‐Net, human parsing labels are introduced to supervise the generation of partial attention maps, while a spatial‐frequency interaction module is suggested to complement the higher‐order semantic information from the frequency domain. Furthermore, a Taylor‐inspired feature filter for mitigating background disturbance and extracting fine‐grained features is proposed. Moreover, a part‐soft triplet loss, which is robust to non‐discriminative body partial features is also designed. Experimental results on Occluded‐Duke, Occluded‐Reid, Market‐1501, and Duke‐MTMC datasets show that this method outperforms existing state‐of‐the‐art methods. Artificial neural network‐based computing is anticipated to surpass the von Neumann bottleneck of traditional computers, thus dramatically boosting computational efficiency and showing a wide range of promising applications. In this paper, sol−gel deposition was used to prepare thin films of samarium‐doped hafnium dioxide (Sm:HfO2). When Sm is doped at a concentration of 4%, it mimics biological synapses; meantime, by voltage scanning, an obvious mimicry of resistive switching can be detected, demonstrating that the technology may be applied to simulate biological synapse characteristics, including long‐term potentiation (depression), short‐term potentiation (depression), paired‐pulse facilitation, and learning rules of spike‐time‐dependent plasticity. Additionally, a pulsed neural network is built on the MNIST dataset to test the memristor's capacity to handle visual input. Artificially intelligent systems (AISs) are being created by software developing companies (SDCs) to influence clinical decision‐making. Historically, clinicians have led healthcare decision‐making, and the introduction of AISs makes SDCs novel actors in the clinical decision‐making space. Although these AISs are intended to influence a clinician's decision‐making, SDCs have been clear that clinicians are in fact the final decision‐makers in clinical care, and that AISs can only inform their decisions. As such, the default position is that clinicians should hold responsibility for the outcomes of the use of AISs. This is not the case when an AIS has influenced a clinician's judgement and their subsequent decision. In this paper, we argue that this is an imbalanced and unjust position, and that careful thought needs to go into how personal moral responsibility for the use of AISs in clinical decision‐making should be attributed. This paper employs and examines the difference between prospective and retrospective responsibility and considers foreseeability as key in determining how personal moral responsibility can be justly attributed. Technology is being developed to support the peer review processes of journals, conferences, funders, universities, and national research evaluations. This literature and software summary discusses the partial or complete automation of several publishing‐related tasks: suggesting appropriate journals for an article, providing quality control for submitted papers, finding suitable reviewers for submitted papers or grant proposals, reviewing, and review evaluation. It also discusses attempts to estimate article quality from peer review text and scores as well as from post‐publication scores but not from bibliometric data. The literature and existing examples of working technology show that automation is useful for helping to find reviewers and there is good evidence that it can sometimes help with initial quality control of submitted manuscripts. Much other software supporting publishing and editorial work exists and is being used, but without published academic evaluations of its efficacy. The value of artificial intelligence (AI) to support reviewing has not been clearly demonstrated yet, however. Finally, whilst peer review text and scores can theoretically have value for post‐publication research assessment, it is not yet widely enough available to be a practical evidence source for systematic automation. Nowadays, the development of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) is advancing rapidly, and intelligent devices are increasingly exposed to more security risks on the network. Deep learning‐based intrusion detection is an effective security defence approach. Federated learning (FL) is capable of enabling deep learning models to be trained on local clients without uploading their data to a central server. This paper proposes a novel federated learning aggregation algorithm called fed‐dynamic gravitational search algorithm (Fed‐DGSA), which incorporates the GSA algorithm to optimize the weight updating process of FL local models. During the updating process, the decay rate of the gravity coefficient is optimized and random perturbations and dynamic weights are introduced to ensure a more stable and efficient FL aggregation process. The experimental results show that the detection accuracy of Fed‐DGSA has reached about 97.8%, and it is demonstrated that the model trained using Fed‐DGSA achieves higher accuracy compared to Fed‐Avg. The evolution of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) pushes connectivity from human‐to‐things and things‐to‐things, to AI‐to‐things, has resulted in more complex physical networks and logical associations. This has driven the demand for Internet of Things (IoT) devices with powerful edge data processing capabilities, leading to exponential growth in device quantity and data generation. However, conventional data preprocessing methods, such as data compression and encoding, often require edge devices to allocate computational resources for decoding. Additionally, some lossy compression methods, like JPEG, may result in the loss of important information, which has negative impact on the AI training. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a two‐step attribute reduction approach, targeting devices and dimensions, to reduce the massive amount of data in the AIoT network while avoiding unnecessary utilization of edge device resources for decoding. The device‐oriented and dimension‐oriented attribute reductions identify important devices and dimensions, respectively, to mitigate the multimodal interference caused by the large‐scale devices in the AIoT network and the curse of dimensionality associated with high‐dimensional AIoT data. Numerical results and analysis show that this approach effectively eliminates redundant devices and numerous dimensions in the AIoT network while maintaining the basic data correlation. The AIoT, with its artificial intelligence capabilities, can further enhance Device‐to‐Device (D2D) communication. Based on Non‐Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA), D2D technology can effectively alleviate wireless spectrum resource pressure and improve the capacity of heterogeneous cellular networks. However, it also introduces significant system interference issues. In this paper, a resource allocation algorithm is proposed for the NOMA‐D2D heterogeneous cellular network, based on a multi‐agent deep reinforcement learning framework. Firstly, the algorithm allocates appropriate channels to D2D clusters. Then, the power allocation factors and D2D transmit power are jointly optimized to suppress the interference and improve the system performance. Deep generative models have recently become popular in heliophysics for their capacity to fill in gaps in solar observational data sets, thereby helping mitigating the data scarcity issue faced in space weather forecasting. A particular type of deep generative models, called conditional Generative Adversarial Networks (cGAN), has been used since a few years in the context of image‐to‐image (I2I) translation on solar observations. These algorithms have however hyperparameters whose values might influence the quality of the synthetic image. In this work, we use magnetograms produced by the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and EUV images from the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) for the problem of generating Artificial Intelligence (AI) synthetic magnetograms from multiple SDO/AIA channels using cGAN, and more precisely the Pix2PixCC algorithm. We perform a systematic study of the most important hyperparameters to investigate which hyperparameter might generate magnetograms of highest quality with respect to the Structural Similarity Index. We propose a structured way to perform training with various hyperparameter values, and provide diagnostic and visualization tools of the generated versus targeted image. Our results shows that when using a larger number of filters in the convolution blocks of the cGAN, the fine details in the generated magnetogram are better reconstructed. Adding several input channels besides the 304 Å channel does not improve the quality of generated magnetogram, but the hyperparameters controlling the relative importance of the different loss functions in the optimization process have an influence on the quality of the results. Plain Language Summary: Performance of space weather forecasting methods relies on the availability of data to be ingested in physical models, which is scarce in space weather as compared to terrestrial weather. Since a few years, deep learning methods have produced algorithms capable of performing image‐to‐image‐translation that are used in solar physics to mitigate this scarcity issue. This paper aims to explore the possibility of employing large language models (LLMs) – a type of artificial intelligence (AI) – in clinical pharmacology, with a focus on its possible misuse in bioweapon development. Additionally, ethical considerations, legislation and potential risk reduction measures are analysed. The existing literature is reviewed to investigate the potential misuse of AI and LLMs in bioweapon creation. The search includes articles from PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection that were identified using a specific protocol. To explore the regulatory landscape, the OECD.ai platform was used. The review highlights the dual‐use vulnerability of AI and LLMs, with a focus on bioweapon development. Subsequently, a case study is used to illustrate the potential of AI manipulation resulting in harmful substance synthesis. Existing regulations inadequately address the ethical concerns tied to AI and LLMs. Mitigation measures are proposed, including technical solutions (explainable AI), establishing ethical guidelines through collaborative efforts, and implementing policy changes to create a comprehensive regulatory framework. The integration of AI and LLMs into clinical pharmacology presents invaluable opportunities, while also introducing significant ethical and safety considerations. Addressing the dual‐use nature of AI requires robust regulations, as well as adopting a strategic approach grounded in technical solutions and ethical values following the principles of transparency, accountability and safety. Additionally, AI's potential role in developing countermeasures against novel hazardous substances is underscored. Fatigue limit states often govern the design of shear connectors in steel‐concrete composite bridges. AASHTO LRFD bridge design specifications provides a linear equation in a semi‐logarithmic S‐N curve for predicting the fatigue life of shear connectors. However, this equation can be too conservative in some cases, as supported by the available experimental data. In this paper, artificial intelligence (AI) was incorporated into the prediction of the fatigue life of shear connectors. Six different machine learning (ML) algorithms were considered for this purpose. The predictions of ML algorithms were compared both with the available experimental data and the equation provided by AASHTO. The results showed that the fatigue life predicted by ML methods is more accurate than that predicted by the current equation of AASHTO. The results of this study showed that AI can be a proper alternative to the existing methods for predicting the fatigue life of shear connectors. Industry 4.0 is a term used to refer to the fourth industrial revolution, characterized by the introduction of new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, Big Data, and artificial intelligence (AI). As the number of connected devices in industrial settings grows, energy optimization of such sensors becomes increasingly essential. This paper proposes an energy optimization framework for sensor nodes in Industry 4.0. The framework is based on energy efficiency, energy conservation, and energy harvesting principles. It is designed to optimize the energy consumption of sensor nodes while maintaining their performance. The framework includes dynamic power management, scheduling, and harvesting techniques to reduce energy consumption while maintaining performance. In addition, the framework provides a comprehensive approach to energy optimization, including advanced analytics and AI to predict energy consumption and optimize energy use. The proposed model reached 96.93% sensitivity, 91.36% false discovery rate, 11.28% false omission rate, 90.12% prevalence threshold, and 91.24% threat score. The increasing trend of energy generation and management systems towards decentralized structures such as using renewable energy resources makes it necessary to use digital and smart platforms for exchanging information and even conducting financial transactions in a decentralized manner, known as the peer‐to‐peer model. The decentralized transaction verification of cryptocurrencies makes it possible to use these encrypted currencies and decentralized blockchain networks in energy management systems and carry out financial transactions related to carbon trading. Carbon and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emission trading systems reduce the competitiveness of fossil fuel projects in the market and accelerate investment in low‐carbon energy sources such as wind and photovoltaic power generation units. This market mechanism allows large entities such as countries and companies that emit GHGs into the atmosphere to buy and sell these gases. This paper reviews the blockchain solutions developed for carbon markets. Studies related to the design of smart contracts in the platform of blockchain are investigated. Special cryptocurrencies that are used in the field of green energy transactions and carbon trading are introduced. In addition, the application of artificial intelligence and game theory in energy trading is stated. The study of different blockchain frameworks for carbon trading shows that the use of decentralized platforms in carbon trading can have a significant impact on the trend towards low‐carbon measures and achieving the goals of the Kyoto Treaty, increasing the value of green cryptocurrencies and the volume of transactions. In the process of workpieces production, surface defects are prone to occur, and these defects come in a wide variety and are often intermixed, making defect detection and classification exceptionally challenging. With the development of artificial intelligence and deep learning, to tackle this problem, this paper introduces an enhanced single shot multibox detector algorithm based on MobileNetV2 for the detection of surface defects. The method utilizes MobileNetv2 as the backbone of the feature extraction network to obtain six feature layers with different detection scales from the baseline network, that is, the original 1 × 1 feature prediction layer is deleted and a 75 × 75 feature prediction layer is added, which is closer to the specific features of the defects on the surface of the workpiece. In the additional feature layer, two parallel dilated convolution structures are connected, introducing depth‐separable convolution and dilated convolution, combining skip connections and pixel‐wise addition operations. A special feature fusion structure is proposed to perform feature fusion for small, medium and large target detection layers, which effectively solves the problem of missed and false detection. Moreover, it refines candidate bounding box aspect ratios within the training set through the utilization of the K‐means clustering algorithm, ensuring a better match with real boxes. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the enhanced model, and the mean average precision value reaches 88.72%. The distribution of transmission lines is complex, influenced by terrain and topography, making their maintenance and management challenging. With the advancement of global mechanization, various types of construction machinery and large‐scale mechanical equipment are continually increasing. Accidental contact of construction machinery near transmission lines poses a serious threat to the stability of the power system. Traditional drones and inspection robots face difficulties in achieving real‐time monitoring of construction machinery and equipment around transmission lines, quickly identifying potential risks. Conventional image processing techniques and convolutional neural networks struggle with effective handling of small targets and densely packed detection tasks involving multiple targets. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an intelligent detection algorithm Swin Transformer attention efficient algorithm‐you only look once (YOLO) (STAE‐YOLO). It is based on the Swin Transformer global self‐attention mechanism, cross‐channel fusion attention mechanism, enhanced small object detection framework, and a focused and efficient regression loss function. The experimental results show that the STAE‐YOLO algorithm model improved by 6.3% in mean average precision, 3.7% in precision, and 3.1% in recall compared to the baseline model. Stock prices forecasting has always been a challenging task. Although many research projects adopt machine learning and deep learning algorithms to address the problem, few of them pay attention to the varying degrees of dependencies between stock prices. In this paper we introduce a hybrid model that improves stock price prediction by emphasizing the dependencies between adjacent stock prices. The proposed model, ResNLS, is mainly composed of two neural architectures, ResNet and LSTM. ResNet serves as a feature extractor to identify dependencies between stock prices across time windows, while LSTM analyses the initial time‐series data with the combination of dependencies which considered as residuals. In predicting the SSE Composite Index, our experiment reveals that when the closing price data for the previous five consecutive trading days is used as the input, the performance of the model (ResNLS‐5) is optimal compared to those with other inputs. Furthermore, ResNLS‐5 outperforms vanilla CNN, RNN, LSTM, and BiLSTM models in terms of prediction accuracy. It also demonstrates at least a 20% improvement over the current state‐of‐the‐art baselines. To verify whether ResNLS‐5 can help clients effectively avoid risks and earn profits in the stock market, we construct a quantitative trading framework for back testing. The experimental results show that the trading strategy based on predictions from ResNLS‐5 can successfully mitigate losses during declining stock prices and generate profits in the periods of rising stock prices. This paper explores the application of visual question answering (VQA) in bridge inspection using recent advancements in multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) systems. VQA involves an AI model providing natural language answers to questions about the content of an input image. However, applying VQA to bridge inspection poses challenges due to the high cost of creating training data that requires expert knowledge. To address this, we propose leveraging existing bridge inspection reports, which already include image–text pairs, as external knowledge to enhance VQA performance. Our approach involves training the model on a large collection of image–text pairs, followed by fine‐tuning it on a limited amount of training data specifically designed for the VQA task. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in VQA accuracy using this approach. The progress of Industrial Revolution 4.0 has been supported by recent advances in several domains, and one of the main contributors is the Internet of Things. Smart factories and healthcare have both benefited in terms of leveraged quality of service and productivity rate. However, there is always a trade‐off and some of the largest concerns include security, intrusion, and failure detection, due to high dependence on the Internet of Things devices. To overcome these and other challenges, artificial intelligence, especially machine learning algorithms, are employed for fault prediction, intrusion detection, computer‐aided diagnostics, and so forth. However, efficiency of machine learning models heavily depend on feature selection, predetermined values of hyper‐parameters and training to deliver a desired result. This paper proposes a swarm intelligence‐based approach to tune the machine learning models. A novel version of the firefly algorithm, that overcomes known deficiencies of original method by employing diversification‐based mechanism, has been proposed and applied to both feature selection and hyper‐parameter optimization of two machine learning models—XGBoost and extreme learning machine. The proposed approach has been tested on four real‐world Industry 4.0 data sets, namely distributed transformer monitoring, elderly fall prediction, BoT‐IoT, and UNSW‐NB 15. Achieved results have been compared to the results of eight other cutting‐edge metaheuristics, that have been implemented and tested under the same conditions. The experimental outcomes strongly indicate that the proposed approach significantly outperformed all other competitor metaheuristics in terms of convergence speed and results' quality measured with standard metrics—accuracy, precision, recall, and f1‐score. Aim: To compare the 66‐item Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM‐66) with the reduced version of the GMFM‐66 (rGMFM‐66) with respect to the detection of clinically relevant changes in gross motor function in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Method: The study was a retrospective single centre analysis of children with CP who participated in a rehabilitation programme. Overall, 1352 pairs of GMFM‐66 and rGMFM66 measurements with a time interval of 5 to 7 months were available. To measure clinically relevant changes in gross motor function, the individual effect size (iES) was calculated. Results: The study population consisted of 1352 children (539 females), mean age 6 years 4 months (SD 2 years 4 months). The iES based on the GMFM‐66 and the rGMFM‐66 showed a significant correlation (r = 0.84, p < 0.001). The analysis of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve showed an excellent agreement for clinically relevant gross motor improvement (Cohen's d ≥ 0.5; area under the curve = 0.90 [95% confidence interval 0.88–0.92]) or deterioration (Cohen's d ≤ −0.5; area under the curve = 0.95 [95% confidence interval 0.92–0.97]). Interpretation: Performing the rGMFM‐66 saves time compared to the full GMFM‐66. The rGMFM‐66 showed good agreement with the GMFM‐66 with respect to the detection of clinically relevant changes in gross motor function in children with CP, so its use in everyday clinical practice seems justifiable. The future of risk assessment cannot neglect to consider the vast literature produced through the application of new approach methodologies (NAMs). This, however, constitutes a challenge for the risk assessor, as the availability of data in this context is huge and heterogeneous both for the methods applied and the standardisation and quality of the results. The integration of results generated from NAMs is hence only feasible under some degree of automation of the risk assessment workflow, specifically for searching, extracting and integrating such results in "AOP‐like" knowledge networks (AOP – Adverse Outcome Pathway). Artificial intelligence (AI) with its state‐of‐the‐art methods and tools is one of the most promising sources to support automation of manual tasks among modern technologies. The present paper illustrates the results of the exploration of possible applications of AI to achieve this goal. After the introduction of an evaluation framework to quantitatively assess these tools and methods, the results of the implementation of six selected case studies with the support of a selection of such tools in a dedicated workflow are presented. A qualitative survey of the state‐of‐the‐art tools and methods, which also incorporates the experience gathered during the case study implementation, is then presented. Finally, recommendations are formulated which address the main aspects identified through the case study implementation that should, in the opinion of the authors, be pursued by EFSA in the context of its SPIDO NAMs and AI roadmaps. In summary, potentials for AI tool support could be identified throughout the workflow. This paper proposes a recurrent neural network based model to segment and classify multiple combined multiple power quality disturbances (PQDs) from the PQD voltage signal. A modified bi‐directional long short‐term memory (BI‐LSTM) model with two different types of attention mechanisms is developed. Firstly, an attention gate is added to the basic LSTM cell to reduce the training time and focus the memory on important PQD signal part. Secondly, an attention layer is added to the BI‐LSTM to obtain the more important part of the voltage signal by assigning weightage to the output of the BI‐LSTM model. This attention gate applied in the LSTM cells improves effective and decisive key information extraction from future and past states of the PQD signal and the addition of attention layer improves the overall decision capability of the model, saving computation time, and increasing PQD classification accuracy. Finally, a SoftMax classifier is applied to classify the combined PQD signal in 96 different combinations. The proposed BI‐LSTM model with attention gate and attention layer mechanism is compared to different baseline models based on recurrent neural network and convolution neural network (CNN). From the simulation study, it is inferred that with the proposed method, the multiple combined PQD signals are easily segmented from the voltage signal which makes the process of PQD classification more accurate with less computation complexity and in less time as compared to popular signal processing based approaches for which classification of multiple PQDs is computationally difficult. Introduction: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) presents a significant global health challenge. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision holds promise for the early detection of OSCC through the analysis of digitized oral photographs. This literature review explores the landscape of AIdriven OSCC automatic detection, assessing both the performance and limitations of the current state of the art. Materials and Methods: An electronic search using several data base was conducted, and a systematic review performed in accordance with PRISMA guidelines (CRD42023441416). Results: Several studies have demonstrated remarkable results for this task, consistently achieving sensitivity rates exceeding 85% and accuracy rates surpassing 90%, often encompassing around 1000 images. The review scrutinizes these studies, shedding light on their methodologies, including the use of recent machine learning and pattern recognition approaches coupled with different supervision strategies. However, comparing the results from different papers is challenging due to variations in the datasets used. Discussion: Considering these findings, this review underscores the urgent need for more robust and reliable datasets in the field of OSCC detection. Furthermore, it highlights the potential of advanced techniques such as multi-task learning, attention mechanisms, and ensemble learning as crucial tools in enhancing the accuracy and sensitivity of OSCC detection through oral photographs. Nanofluids are thermoelectric substance with a greater thermal transmission effectiveness than traditional thermal fluids. Nanofluid's specific heat capacity (SHC) is a crucial thermophysical parameter since it controls the fluid's heat transfer coefficient. Surprisingly few research investigations have been done on the prognostic modelling of the specific heat capacity of fusion nanofluids, despite the fact that numerous experiments have been conducted on the heat transfer capacitance of blended nanofluids. This study focuses on the use of algorithms based on machine learning procedures (MLP) to estimate the SHC of blended nanofluids. Numerous numbers of hybrid nanofluids are investigated in this investigation. Total of 984 samples of hybrid nanofluids for specific heat capacity has been collected from nine experimental research papers. Various MLP techniques were utilized in this analysis, including extreme boost gradient boost regression (XGB), support vector regression augmented with a genetic algorithm (support vector regression [SVR]‐genetic algorithm [GA]), grid search optimized based gradient boost regression algorithm (GBR) (GBR‐GSO), and voting ensemble procedure (VE). The obtained correlation coefficients of the SVR‐GA, XGB, VE and GBR‐GSO models for the testing dataset are 98.43%, 96.29%, 94.4% and 96.55% respectively. The SVR‐GA model showed a better predictive accuracy relative to other ML models. This SVR‐GA anticipated model could be used for quick and reliable prediction of the SHC of blended nanofluids which reduces the burden associated with experimental measurement possible future work includes applying a machine‐learning strategy to the problem of determining the diffusivity of hybrid nanofluids. Sampling is a crucial concern for outdoor light detection and ranging (LiDAR) point cloud registration due to the large amounts of point cloud. Numerous algorithms have been devised to tackle this issue by selecting key points. However, these approaches often necessitate extensive computations, giving rise to challenges related to computational time and complexity. This letter proposes a multi‐domain uniform sampling method (MDU‐sampling) for large‐scale outdoor LiDAR point cloud registration. The feature extraction based on deep learning aggregates information from the neighbourhood, so there is redundancy between adjacent features. The sampling method in this paper is carried out in the spatial and feature domains. First, uniform sampling is executed in the spatial domain, maintaining local point cloud uniformity. This is believed to preserve more potential point correspondences and is beneficial for subsequent neighbourhood information aggregation and feature sampling. Subsequently, a secondary sampling in the feature domain is performed to reduce redundancy among the features of neighbouring points. Notably, only points on the same ring in LiDAR data are considered as neighbouring points, eliminating the need for additional neighbouring point search and thereby speeding up processing rates. However, the principles of research integrity remain unchanged with the advent of AI. Concerns about the authenticity of published work led to the development of codes of conduct to regulate the use of AI in research. The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity now requires disclosure of AI use in research and writing. Authorship norms and criteria remain the same, emphasizing that only humans can be held accountable for the content of a paper. Researchers must understand the responsibilities and risks associated with using AI in research, including the potential breach of copyright, intellectual property, and privacy regulations. Aims/Purpose: Our goal is to focus on the contribution of artificial intelligence in glaucoma from diagnosis to progression. Methods: By a literature review, we will review work using AI in the field of glaucoma, whether for screening, diagnosis or detection of progression. Results: For the diagnosis: Recently, two papers were published reporting results of DL algorithms to diagnose glaucoma from Visual Field data. Several authors have evaluated AI‐based fundus photograph analysis for its utility for detecting glaucoma such as the study of Liu et al which grouped 241 032 images of 68 013 patients with a sensitivity of 96.2% and specificity of 87.2% also for analysing OCT imaging data from peripapillary RNFL thickness maps and the macular ganglion cell complex for discriminating between glaucomatous and normal eyes with AROC values ranging from 0.69 to 0.99. Prediction of IOP trends from previous data and medications would be a useful and plausible use of AI. For the progression of glaucoma: Multiclass support vector machines (SVMs), have been used to simultaneously discriminate between normal, non progressing, and progressing eyes through the analysis of confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (CSLO) images with a correct classification rate of 88%. Conclusions: Many AI strategies have shown promising results for glaucoma detection using fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, or automated perimetry. The combination of these imaging modalities increases the performance of AI algorithms, with results comparable to those of humans. Research in the coming years will need to address unavoidable questions regarding the clinical significance of such results and the explicability of the predictions. References 1.
