In research, outcomes are often categorized as primary and secondary. The primary outcome is the most important one; it determines whether the study is considered 'successful' or not. Secondary outcomes are chosen because they provide supporting evidence for the results of the primary outcome or additional information about the subject being studied. For reasons that are explained in this paper, secondary outcomes should be cautiously interpreted. There are varying practices regarding publishing secondary outcomes. Some authors publish these separately, while others include them in the main publication. In some contexts, the former can lead to concerns about the quality and relevance of the data being published. In this article, we discuss primary and secondary outcomes, the importance and interpretation of secondary outcomes, and considerations for publishing multiple outcomes in separate papers. We also discuss the special case of secondary analyses and post hoc analyses and provide guidance on good publishing practices. Throughout the article, we use relevant examples to make these concepts easier to understand. Introduction: Theory papers have been the most commonly employed method to assess learning outcomes in medical education. In these papers, both recall abilities and higher‑order cognitive functions need to be assessed giving proper weightage as per relevance. Hence it becomes necessary that valid assessment methods are employed to evaluate the required objectives/competencies. The objective of the study was to develop a method for analyzing postgraduate question papers of various specialties. Methodology: A rubric matrix was created with three broad objective criteria to assess framing and layout of the questions in each paper, analysis of different sets for same examination, and finally an overall assessment of all the papers for each subject. Results: A total of 28 specialty papers were available. A total number of papers analysed = 340. The overall mean score out of total 60 marks was 38.64 ± 4.5. It was seen that the majority (60%) of the departments have been graded as fair on analysis of the theory papers. None of the departments were graded as very good, while 7% of them were graded as good. Although a very minuscule percentage of the papers had grammatical errors and duplication of questions in the sets, only 57% of the departments had done a proper moderation and 21% had used higher domains of learning for assessment. Conclusion: Analysis of postgraduate question papers showed that the questions asked for postgraduates are more recall‑based instead of higher taxonomy of cognitive domain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The Taiwan Oncology Society (TOS) and the Taiwan Society of Pathology (TSP) have collaborated to present a joint position paper on the molecular tumor boards (MTBs) within the medical institutions of Taiwan. Materials and Methods: To raise awareness of MTBs among health-care professionals, policymakers, and the public, a total of 20 experts from TOS and TSP formulated a joint consensus statement through a voting process. Results: The joint statement proposes key recommendations: (1) MTB discussions encompass diverse molecular analyses including next-generation sequencing (NGS), RNA sequencing, whole-exon sequencing, and whole-genomic sequencing addressing relevant genomic changes, tumor mutation burden, microsatellite instability, and specific biomarkers for certain cancers. (2) MTB meetings should involve multidisciplinary participants who receive regular updates on NGS-related clinical trials. (3) Prioritize discussing cases with unique clinical needs, gene alterations lacking treatments, untreatable neoplasms, or oncogenes unresponsive to targeted therapies. (4) Base MTB discussions on comprehensive patient data, including genetics, pathology, timing of specimen collection, and NGS outcomes. (5) MTBs offer treatment recommendations: standard therapies, off-label use, clinical trials, genetic counseling, and multidisciplinary reviews. Scientometric studies play a crucial role in quantitatively assessing the impact and quantity of scholarly articles, providing a basis for policy-making and informed decision-making processes. Given the ongoing transformation within the Saudi scientific community across various domains, it is essential to establish a baseline for high-quality endodontic research. A comprehensive search in the PubMed database, using the keywords ["Saudi" OR "Saudi Arabia"] within the time frame of 2014 to 2021. The screening process involved evaluating the title and abstract of each article, with only those classified as endodontic articles included for analysis in this study. The analysis included factors such as the type of paper, the authors, the citations, and the year of publication. Featuring one or more authors affiliated with a Saudi dental institution, 70 papers were specifically categorized as endodontic papers. The most prevalent type of paper was case reports, accounting for 27 articles (28%), followed by literature reviews with 13 articles (18%). The number of authors ranged from one to ten, with a general trend of increasing publication rates over the years. In terms of citations, only four papers received more than 20 citations, while the majority of papers garnered between one and ten citations. Aim: A well-known method for quantitatively evaluating scholarly work is bibliometric analysis. Best-cited papers raise awareness of the influential publications and patterns in the literature on a specific subject. The aim was to conduct bibliometric analysis to determine most cited articles on vesiculobullous oral lesions. This is the first study on citation analysis with respect to vesiculobullous oral lesions. Materials and Methods: A retrospective data search was explored on December 2022 using the Scopus database. The articles were evaluated, and fundamental data for bibliometric analysis was reviewed. Standard details about the author, linked organizations, publishing year, and place of origin were noted. Statistical analysis was performed using Chi-square analysis. VOSviewer software was used to determine the bibliometric network analysis for co-occurrence among coauthors and commonly used keywords. Results: A total of 344 articles published from 1971 to 2022 were included in the study. A total of 6680 citations and 19.41 citations per article were observed. The journal Archives of Dermatology received the most citation. There was a significant association between the number of citations and the journal type (open access vs. non-open access) (P < 0.05). Four to five highly related clusters with the help of VOSviewer software were found during co-occurrence network analysis. Conclusions: The top 10 articles on vesiculobullous oral lesions that received the most citations were listed in detail in the present study. The National Medical Commission (NMC) in India has released the "Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023," which replace the previous regulations from 2000. These new regulations bring about several changes in postgraduate medical training, such as the recognition of Postdoctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC) and Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) courses, the acknowledgment of the mental health of postgraduate students, the establishment of an academic cell in institutes, the use of dynamic e-logbooks, and requirements for poster presentations, paper presentations, and research papers. The regulations also introduce new courses in ethics and cardiac life support skills, define leave rules and attendance criteria for postgraduate students, and discuss the role of universities in implementing the curriculum and the use of digital technology for examinations and certificates. Objective: To perform a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production related to intestinal microbiota and bariatric surgery between January 2016 and December 2022. Materials and Methods: A bibliographic search was performed in the Scopus database to identify published papers. Free and controlled terms (MeSH and Emtree) were used. The information collected was analyzed with SciVal. Results: A total of 518 published papers were included in the analysis. Carel Le Roux was the author with the highest scientific production; however, Edi Prifti had the highest impact. French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale) was the institution with the highest number of published articles. Six of the 10 institutions with the highest production were in France, yet the United States had the highest volume of scientific production in this research topic. Most papers were published in first quartile journals. Articles with international collaboration had the highest impact. There is a sustained increase in the number of publications since 2019. Conclusions: The study found that the vast majority of research on gut microbiota changes following bariatric surgery are conducted in the United States and European countries. In addition, the sustained increase in production coupled with the articles being published in high-quality journals and having good citation impact are indictors of the current interest in this research field. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a significant impact on dermatology, but to date no bibliometric analysis of this field has been identified. Therefore, the aim of this study was to perform a bibliometric indicator analysis of the worldwide scientific production of COVID-19 in dermatology. Materials and Methods: An advanced bibliographic search was performed in the Scopus database to identify articles on COVID-19 and dermatology from 2020 to 2021. The collected information was analysed with SciVal software. Bibliometric data were described through figures and summary tables. Results: A total of 1448 documents were collected and analysed. Torello Lotti was the author with the greatest scientific production; however, Esther Freeman had the greatest impact. Harvard University was the institution with the highest number of published articles. Most papers were published in the first quartiles. The United States and Italy were the leading countries in terms of production. Articles with international collaboration had the highest impact. Conclusion: Articles related to dermatology and COVID-19 are mostly published with American and Italian affiliations. In addition, there has been an increase in the distribution of articles published in the first quartile, which would reflect a growing interest in the community. Background: Occlusion is dynamic and plays an important role in the functioning of the stomatognathic system. Disturbance in one of the components of the stomatognathic system may result in hypersensitivity of teeth, orofacial pain, migraine, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Coronoplasty done using articulating paper is the conventional method for occlusal corrections. T‑scan is a computerized occlusal analysis system that overcomes the limitations of articulating paper. Methods: Patients with Myofacial pain dysfunction syndrome (MPDS) having dentinal hypersensitivity were taken into consideration. The case series included three cases. A joint vibratory analysis (JVA) is performed using a JVA device to rule out any TMJ disorders. T‑scan‑assisted coronoplasty is performed. Patients are asked to score for dentinal hypersensitivity on the VAS scale pre and postoperative. Results: Occlusion and disocclusion time is reduced along with hyperactivity of the muscles after T‑scan‑assisted coronoplasty. There is a reduction in dentinal hypersensitivity postoperative. Conclusion: T‑scan quantifies the forces and hence proved a boon in the field of dentistry. The present case series highlights coronoplasty assisted with a T‑scan for diagnosis and treatment planning of hypersensitivity of teeth; hence it is the future of dentistry. Practical Implications: T‑scan is a device that is assisted with electromyography. It projects the forces of mastication at every contact point of maxillary and mandibular teeth and reveals muscular hyperactivity. Rural communities are geographically isolated from large urban areas, affecting access to definitive care, specialists and other health services that only service urban areas. Rural decision-makers are often faced with numerous challenges regarding the availability, capacity, sustainability and performance of health systems in rural and remote areas. We evaluated the current body of literature on educational initiatives being used in under-resourced areas to increase the knowledge or skills of healthcare workers. This rapid review followed the methods laid out by the Cochrane Rapid Reviews Methods Group and included published articles from any of three databases that described and evaluated an educational intervention, in which healthcare workers were the learners and which took place in an under-resourced area. Papers were excluded if they were deemed to be too resource intensive, were an opinion or concept paper or took place in an urban area. Results were synthesised descriptively. Ten studies were identified that contained information on educational initiatives in a variety of countries. The healthcare workers targeted in the studies varied from physicians, nurses and midwives to community health workers and students. The quality of studies also varied and included randomised control trials, systematic reviews and both prospective and retrospective studies. Initiatives involving simulation or point-of-care ultrasound were most common and showed the most benefit to a learner's knowledge and skill development. A limited body of literature exists on educational initiatives for healthcare workers in under-resourced areas. While simulation and hands-on learning showed positive results, the opportunity remains for a low-cost, high-yield educational initiative tailored to the unique needs of healthcare workers in under-resourced areas. Introduction: Complex anatomy of the root canal system results in incomplete debridement with mechanical instrumentation, leaving some areas or root canal walls untouched. There comes the significance of endodontic irrigants with residual antibacterial substantivity which prolongs the post-antibiotic effect, thereby improving the success and predictability of endodontic treatment. Aim: To comparatively evaluate the residual antibacterial substantivity of 2% chlorhexidine, Biopure MTAD and 2% chitosan against Enterococcus faecalis at intervals of 1, 14 and 28 days. Materials and Methods: Seventy-five therapeutically extracted permanent single rooted mandibular premolars teeth were selected. Dentin blocks of 4 mm thickness were prepared and enlarged to 1.6 mm. The autoclaved blocks were inoculated with 24-hour colonies of pure cultures of E. faecalis for 14 days. After the contamination period, canals of each dentin block were irrigated with 5 ml of sterile saline and dried with sterile paper points. A total of 75 dentin blocks were randomly divided into five groups as follows: Group A (21 specimens): 2% chlorhexidine, Group B (21 specimens): Biopure MTAD, Group C (21 specimens): 2% chitosan, Group D (6 specimens): positive control (infected dentin tubes) and Group E (six specimens): negative control (sterile dentin tubes). Then, the lumens of dentin blocks were irrigated with the respective irrigants for 10 mins and were dried using sterile paper points. The specimens were then incubated at 37°C for 28 days to maintain humidity. At experimental intervals of 1, 14 and 28 days, dentin shavings were removed from the canals of respective groups by circumferential filing with sterile no. 35 Hedstrom files. The powdered dentin samples obtained with each dentin block were observed for colony forming units (CFUs) using a Digital Colony counter and were expressed as CFUs/mL. Result: All the irrigants in the study showed a significant decrease in CFUs from day 1 to day 28 indicating that they have residual antibacterial substantivity against E. faecalis. Group B (Biopure MTAD) showed significantly least mean CFUs compared to Group A (2% CHX) and Group C (2% chitosan) against E. faecalis at B1(day 1), B2(day 14) and B3(day 28). Group A (2% CHX) showed significantly higher mean CFUs than Group C (2% chitosan) at A1(day 1). Group C (2% chitosan) showed significantly higher mean CFUs compared to Group A (2% CHX) at C2(day 14) and C3 (day 28). Conclusion: MTAD showed statistically higher residual antibacterial substantivity against E. faecalis at experimental periods of 1, 14 and 28 days. The residual antibacterial effect of 2% chitosan was better compared to 2% CHX at day 1. Since coronavirus disease infection-19 (COVID-19) entry to the cells is angiotensin enzyme receptor (ACEII) dependent, extrapulmonary manifestations have been suspected. Ocular manifestations reported in several studies to involve the anterior as well as posterior eye segments. However, the predominance of the anterior eye segment reduced the attention of the scientific community on the posterior eye segment. Our results showed that the incidence of changes in the posterior eye segment is 1/5 of the anterior eye segment. Posterior eye segment manifestations include acute macular neuroretinopathy and paracentral middle maculopathy, central retinal vein/artery occlusion, reactivation of previous uveitis, varicella zoster virus-related acute retinal necrosis in an immunocompromised patient, chorioretinitis, macular hemorrhage, paracentral acute middle maculopathy, retinal detachment, and vitritis with outer retinal abnormalities. The pathogenesis of posterior eye segment manifestations under COVID-19 includes viremia, autoimmune vasculitis, hyperimmune response, coagulopathy, and cytokine storm. A full ophthalmological examination is crucial for patients recovering from COVID-19. Slit lamp biomicroscope is the right hand of an Ophthalmologist. Even though precise, its bulky design and complex working process are limiting constraints, making it difficult for screening at outreach camps, which are an integral part of this field for the purpose of eliminating needless blindness. The torchlight is the main tool used for screening. Recently, the integration of smartphones with instruments and the digitization of slit lamp has been explored, to provide simple and easy hacks. By bringing the slit of the slit lamp to traditional torchlight, we have created "The Slitscope". It combines the best of both worlds as a simple innovative do-it-yourself novel technique for precise cataract screening. Itraconazole (ITZ) has been the mainstay of oral antifungal treatment for the current epidemic of recalcitrant dermatophytosis (RD) in India. Recently, a newer formulation of ITZ, super bioavailable itraconazole (SUBA-ITZ), is made available in the market by many pharmaceutical companies. It is important for dermatologists to understand the pharmacokinetic properties of SUBA-ITZ vis-a-vis conventional pellet formulation to use it effectively and safely. Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) has established a special interest group for recalcitrant dermatophytosis (SIG-RD) to strengthen research, continuing medical education, and industry collaboration on the subject. Aim: The purpose of this article is to give an analysis of developing trends and research hotspots within the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) Group using bibliometric methodologies. Materials and Methods: Using co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis, publications from the Scopus database for the years 1973–2022 are examined and analyzed on a variety of factors. R-Programming (Biblioshiny) and VOSViewer, an application for scientific visualization, are used to do the analysis. Results: There were 1721 publications in Scopus throughout the study period, with 83.9% of those being journal articles and the remaining 6% being letters and case studies. Research generally shows a constant rise with growing multi-authorship. The most sought-after magazine for publishing by the writers at KAHER is "Reproductive Health," and they prefer to collaborate on research pieces. In addition, health-care science services and medical informatics have steadily developed into new areas of scientific interest. Originality: This study offers a thorough and comprehensive analysis of the KAHERs' formative environment. This study can serve as a solid starting point for future research and can be used to analyze how health science research has changed overtime. Conclusion: The study reveals KAHER's robust publishing productivity and impact, with a diverse output among authors and a consistent growth in the number of publications. The dominance of collaborative research, high citation rates, and the prevalence of medical research suggest the importance of international collaborations and the implementation of an institutional online repository system for enhanced research efficacy and accessibility. The purpose of research is to seek answers and new knowledge. When conducted properly and systematically, research adds to humanity's corpus of knowledge and hence to our general advancement. However, this is only possible if reported research is accurate and transparent. Guidelines for all the major types of studies (STROBE, CONSORT, PRISMA, MOOSE, STARD, and SPIRIT) have been developed and refined over the years, and their inception, development, and application are briefly discussed in this paper. Indeed, there are currently over 250 of these guidelines for various types of medical research, and these are published by the EQUATOR network. Background: Endodontic microbial flora plays a pivotal role in the development and persistence of periodontal endodontic lesions (PELs). Understanding the composition and prevalence of microbial species in PELs is essential for effective treatment strategies. Materials and Methods: Microbial samples were collected from 50 teeth diagnosed with PELs. Sterile paper points were used to obtain samples from the root canals. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was extracted and subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene to identify bacterial species. The obtained data were analyzed using statistical methods. Results: The microbial analysis revealed a diverse range of bacterial species in PELs. The most prevalent species were Porphyromonas gingivalis (32.5%), Treponema denticola (28.0%), and Fusobacterium nucleatum (22.5%). Streptococcus mutans (9.0%) and Actinomyces naeslundii (8.0%) were also frequently detected. Additionally, Prevotella intermedia (7.0%), Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (3.5%), and Enterococcus faecalis (2.5%) were present in lower frequencies. Conclusion: The presence of a diverse microbial flora in teeth with PELs underscores the polymicrobial nature of these lesions. The predominance of periodontal pathogens such as Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, and Fusobacterium nucleatum suggests a strong association between periodontal and endodontic infections. Purpose: This paper explores different machine learning (ML) algorithms for analyzing diffusion nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) models when analytical fitting shows restrictions. It reviews various ML techniques for dMRI analysis and evaluates their performance on different b-values range datasets, comparing them with analytical methods. Materials and Methods: After standard fitting for reference, four sets of diffusion-weighted nuclear magnetic resonance images were used to train/test various ML algorithms for prediction of diffusion coefficient (D), pseudo-diffusion coefficient (D*), perfusion fraction (f), and kurtosis (K). ML classification algorithms, including extra-tree classifier (ETC), logistic regression, C-support vector, extra-gradient boost, and multilayer perceptron (MLP), were used to determine the existence of diffusion parameters (D, D*, f, and K) within single voxels. Regression algorithms, including linear regression, polynomial regression, ridge, lasso, random forest (RF), elastic-net, and support-vector machines, were used to estimate the value of the diffusion parameters. Performance was evaluated using accuracy (ACC), area under the curve (AUC) tests, and cross-validation root mean square error (RMSECV). Computational timing was also assessed. Results: ETC and MLP were the best classifiers, with 94.1% and 91.7%, respectively, for the ACC test and 98.7% and 96.3% for the AUC test. For parameter estimation, RF algorithm yielded the most accurate results The RMSECV percentages were: 8.39% for D, 3.57% for D*, 4.52% for f, and 3.53% for K. Background and Aims: Intrathecal bupivacaine is used for anaesthesia and analgesia but is associated with hypotension. Ropivacaine is an alternative drug that may have fewer cardiotoxic and neurotoxic events. This meta-analysis investigated whether intrathecal ropivacaine is associated with reduced hypotension as compared to bupivacaine. Methods: The meta-analysis is registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO). The databases PubMed, Cinahl Plus, Google Scholar, and Scopus were searched, and papers from January 1980 to January 2023 were deemed eligible and filtered using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary outcome was the incidence of hypotension. Secondary outcomes were the duration of sensory block, duration of motor block, incidence of bradycardia, ephedrine usage, and duration of analgesia. Jadad scores were used to evaluate the quality of the papers. RevMan statistical software® utilised inverse variance and a random effect model to calculate the standardised mean difference with 95% confidence intervals for continuous variables and the Mantel--Haenszel test and the random effect model to calculate the odds ratio for dichotomous variables. Results: Thirty-three papers, including 2475 patients in total, were included. The Jadad score was between 1 and 5. The incidence of hypotension was significantly higher with intrathecal bupivacaine than with ropivacaine (P = 0.02). The duration of sensory block (P < 0.001) and motor block (P < 0.001) was prolonged with intrathecal bupivacaine. The duration of analgesia favoured intrathecal bupivacaine (P = 0.003). Background: The extensive use of various electronic games and communication devices, particularly among children and adolescents, has raised concerns, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigated the link between screen time and internalizing disorders, such as anxiety and depression, among individuals aged =18 during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This systematic review aims to summarize scientific publications from 2019 to early 2022 by searching databases, including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and PsycINFO, to identify suitable studies. In each paper, we searched the following keywords and their synonyms: screen, child, high school, middle school, and psychiatric disorders. The quality of the selected papers was evaluated using a checklist recommended by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for observational cohort studies. Results: Out of 986 reports identified, we included 12 papers with 14,483 participants. The study revealed a negative correlation between screen time (TV, computer, video games, and mobile phones) and behavioral outcomes. Smartphones were the most frequently used devices, with video games being more prevalent among older participants for education, communication, and entertainment purposes. The prevalence of depression ranged between 10% and 25%. Furthermore, anxiety and depression were identified as predictors of increased screen usage. Some results displayed variation based on the type of screen exposure, the questionnaires used, and the age of the participants. Conclusions: The findings imply an indirect association between increased screen time and depression and anxiety. Objective: This systematic review examines the efficacy and biocompatibility of orthodontic clear aligner tooth aligners constructed from polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PeT-G), polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). Materials and Methods: To find relevant papers published through September 2021, PubMed was searched extensively. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and observational studies assessing the effectiveness and biocompatibility of the aligner materials were included. Data were extracted independently, and the quality of included research was appraised using relevant procedures. The research variability necessitated a narrative synthesis. Results: Five studies were included for comparison. All materials were biocompatible; however, PeT-G and EVA aligners caused the least tissue irritation. Oral lichen planus is a common, chronic mucocutaneous condition of uncertain origin. Early treatment of OLP can dramatically reduce the risk of further development, which in turn reduces the risk of developing cancer. Numerous methods can be used to treat OLP. Since the significance of ozone in treating this disease is still uncertain. This systematic review was conducted based on english databases, including PUBMED, SCOPUS, Embase, Ovid, and Journal of Web up to July 2022. We used the search phrases "ozone," "ozone in the treatment of oral lichen planus," "oral lichen planus," and "ozone therapy." Finally, five papers were selected for qualitative analysis. This review included a total of five papers, four of which were clinical trials and one was a longitudinal study. All studies included the erosive form of OLP, also ozone therapy was applied to patients who did not respond to conventional treatment. Ozone showed significant therapeutic effects in terms of reduction in pain and size of the lesion. Background: Patient handover (handoff in America) is the transfer of information and accountability among nurses assigned to patient care. Introduction, Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (ISBAR) is currently the most popular framework for framing handovers. However, research shows that incomplete handovers and information transfers among healthcare providers and nurses exist and are responsible for adverse patient events. Materials and Methods: The current systematic review aims to view contemporary literature on handover, especially but not exclusively in psychiatric settings, and to extract current conditions from Electronic Patient Records (EPRs) using the ISBAR framework. A total of fifty-five scientific papers were selected to support the scoping review. Eligibility criteria included structured research to analyze outcomes, completed by reviewing policy papers and professional organization guidelines on I/SBAR handovers. Results: Our systematic review shows that the application of ISBAR increases interprofessional communication skills and confidence and the quality of the transfer of clinical information about patients, resulting in increased patient safety and quality of care. Conclusions: Implementing the knowledge and application of structured patient handover will respond to current recommendations for service improvement and quality of care. Furthermore, nurses who use ISBAR also reported its benefits as they feel they can deliver what is required for patient care information in a structured, fast, and efficient way. Hand hygiene remains one of the most effective methods of preventing healthcare-associated infections. Hand drying is the end point of hand hygiene. Hand drying after hand hygiene is less explored, and the practice varies in different facilities. This explorative study was done to know the various hand-drying methods and practices of healthcare workers in Indian settings. This was a descriptive cross-sectional questionnaire-based observational study initiated from a tertiary care setup in Uttarakhand. Healthcare workers over 18 years of age directly involved in patient care were enrolled. A semi-structured questionnaire with both open-ended and close-ended questions was used with snowballing sampling technique. Statistical analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Out of the eligible 395 respondents, 62.8% were female. The mean age of the respondents was 31.34 ± 8.44 years and average working hours were 8.87 ± 2.97 (range 4-24) hours. Only 72.7% did hand hygiene always before touching a patient. Nurses were more compliant about hand hygiene than doctors (P < 0.0001). A total of 82.8% were aware of appropriate hand-drying methods. Staff in the Intensive care unit Intensive care unit (ICU) setup were more aware of hand drying practices (P = 0.033). A total of 21.8% wiped their hands on their clothing to dry their hands. This was more in staff from paraclinical departments (P = 0.001). A total of 35.7% used handkerchiefs to dry hands. Resident doctors used handkerchiefs more than senior doctors or nursing staff (P = 0.01). A total of 49.9% of respondents spent less than 10 seconds in hand drying. Hand-hygiene knowledge is high among healthcare workers in India, but the knowledge of appropriate hand-drying practices is lacking. There is wide variation in the practice of hand drying. Background: Childhood gratification syndrome (CGS) refers to self-stimulatory or masturbatory behaviors in children, which may have an onset as early as in infancy (IGS). Aim: The aim of this review is to understand the various clinical manifestations of CGS/IGS and their clinical differentiation from commonly misdiagnosed neurological and physical illnesses and to formulate a preliminary approach to their diagnosis and management. Methods: This narrative review is based on a search of literature over the past 50 years (1972--2022) in three online databases (PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Google Scholar). Results: The behaviors are episodic, occurring for brief periods, involving posturing, stereotypical limb movements, pubic pressure with autonomic hyperactivity, and postepisodic lethargy. They mimic seizures, movement disorders, abdominal pain, and tics. The paper also highlights the gap in the current knowledge to guide future research in the area. CGS usually represents nonpathological "pleasure-seeking" habits of childhood, but at times, it may become problematic for the child and his family. A careful history and videotape analysis of the events confirms the diagnosis and behavioral therapy with parental reassurance as the mainstay of treatment. Background: Immediate implant placement into a fresh extraction socket has been developed as a consistent treatment, allowing for a reduction in the duration of time necessary for prosthetic rehabilitation. The study will evaluate the clinical and radiologic outcomes of implants placed immediately for a 10-year follow-up period. Aim: The aim of this systematic review is to evaluate the durability of the immediate implant in periodontally compromised individual placement. Methods: Studies reporting clinical and radiologic implant outcomes from periodontally compromised individuals who were treated and followed periodontal and implant maintenance for =5 years were considered eligible for the review. Screening of the articles, data extraction, and quality assessment were conducted independently and in duplicate. Results: There were 99 papers, and of them, 55 were excluded after title/abstract assessment. The full texts of 28 potentially eligible publications were screened, but only seven studies met the inclusion criteria. Conclusions: The study confirms that immediate implant therapy is safe, effective, and predictable for successful osseointegration and long-term functioning in periodontally compromised individuals, with minimal differences in clinical and radiographic outcomes. Ameloblastic carcinoma is a rare malignant odontogenic tumor that is further classified into being primary or secondary arising from a preexisting benign ameloblastoma. It affects the mandible in two thirds of the patients. There is no standard treatment protocol for this lesion but radicalsurgical excision with or without radiotherapy is reported in the majority of cases. In this paper, we present a case of a 22 year old male diagnosed with Ameloblastic carcinoma of the mandible with a clinical course of typical aggressiveness and extensive destruction. Histopathological examination of the incised biopsy showed a parakeratinized stratified squamous epithelium with underlying fibrous connective tissue stroma. The stroma is highly myxomatous and exhibits islands of odontogenic epithelium and chronic inflammatory cell infiltrates. Interlacing strands of odontogenic epithelium shows stellate reticulum-like cells and occasional areas of squamous metaplasia with cellular and nuclear pleomorphism. In addition, mitotic figures were noted. With the correlation of clinical, radiographic, and histological features, the lesion is diagnosed as ameloblastic carcinoma. Background: Sustainable development goals (SDGs) 3.9.1 and 11.6.2 call for a reduction in deaths and illnesses from air pollution, improving the air quality of cities. The above goals motivate us to organize workshops to improve the health of traffic police, who bear the brunt of air pollution. The paper examines the effect of workshops on the health-seeking behavior of the traffic police in Bhubaneswar city. Methods: The study conducted two workshops as a quasi-experimental, single-group study at an academic institution in Bhubaneswar. It included 20 traffic police officers (11 male and 9 female). The Kirkpatrick 4-level model was used to assess the effectiveness of the workshops. A paired t-test was used to compare pre- and postworkshop scores. Results: Thirteen traffic police officers rated the workshop sessions as excellent. The score before the workshop ranged from zero to three, with a mean (standard deviation [SD]) of 2.81 (1.0). The postworkshop score had a minimum to maximum score of three to five with a mean (SD) of 4.41 (0.7) (P < 0.005). The effect size dcohen (confidence interval [CI]) was 1.87 (3.27-4.71). The mean (SD) of absolute and relative gain was 1.6 (1.0) and 0.93 (1.02), respectively. All 20 traffic police officers showed improvement in health-seeking behavior. The significant lifestyle changes after the workshops ranged between 5% and 75%. Conclusion: The test scores indicated statistically significant improvement as the P value recorded was smaller than 0.05. Background: Dentinal microcracks formed during apical resection may lead to increased susceptibility to root fracture and improper sealing of apical preparation that may negatively influence the outcome of endodontic microsurgery. Aims: This study was performed to analyze the root-end surface for dentinal microcracks using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) after resection with high-speed bur and trephine drill. Materials and Methods: Thirty extracted single-rooted maxillary premolar teeth were selected and randomly distributed into two groups (n = 15). Working length was established using a #15 K-type file. Canals were prepared with a rotary Ni-Ti system to size 30/0.06 using endomotor, irrigated with 3% sodium hypochlorite, dried with paper points, and obturated with gutta-percha cones using a single-cone technique. All samples were mounted on preformed molds and poured using a mixture of sawdust and gypsum. In Group A; tungsten carbide bur was used to perform a freehand apicoectomy. In Group B; a trephine drill was used with a three-dimensional guide to perform 3 mm of root resection. Apicoectomy was performed in both groups under a dental operating microscope. Resected root ends were inspected for microcracks using SEM. The Shapiro-Wilk and Mann-Whitney U-test were used for statistical analysis. Results: Microcracks were observed in all samples in both study groups. Trephine drill produced more microcracks on the resected root surface compared to the use of high-speed tungsten carbide bur with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The trephine drill used during targeted endodontic microsurgery produced more microcracks on the resected root dentine surface compared to the high-speed tungsten carbide bur used during freehand apicoectomy. This review article examines the utility of artificial intelligence (AI) in anesthesia, with a focus on recent developments and future directions in the field. A total of 19,300 articles were available on the given topic after searching in the above mentioned databases, and after choosing the custom range of years from 2015 to 2023 as an inclusion component, only 12,100 remained. 5,720 articles remained after eliminating non-full text. Eighteen papers were identified to meet the inclusion criteria for the review after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The applications of AI in anesthesia after studying the articles were in favor of the use of AI as it enhanced or equaled human judgment in drug dose decision and reduced mortality by early detection. Two studies tried to formulate prediction models, current techniques, and limitations of AI; ten studies are mainly focused on pain and complications such as hypotension, with a P value of <0.05; three studies tried to formulate patient outcomes with the help of AI; and three studies are mainly focusing on how drug dose delivery is calculated (median: 1.1% ± 0.5) safely and given to the patients with applications of AI. In conclusion, the use of AI in anesthesia has the potential to revolutionize the field and improve patient outcomes. AI algorithms can accurately predict patient outcomes and anesthesia dosing, as well as monitor patients during surgery in real time. These technologies can help anesthesiologists make more informed decisions, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. Integrating the human dimension in Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) has been a primary challenge for MSP practices worldwide. One of the main issues in MSP is meaningful participation. However, there is an empirical gap regarding how participation functions and its relationship to achieving social sustainability goals. This paper aims to answer this question by studying MSP in Karimunjawa National Park, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive research approach was used for the data collection and analysis. The results highlight that participation in Karimunjawa provides captivating alternatives in terms of participation, specifically in the areas of planning and management. We conclude that participation in management can mitigate the negative effects resulting from the lack of participation in planning, which may be constrained by factors such as knowledge and power gaps, as well as time limitations. The case-study findings also indicate that community responsibility towards the environment is closely related to their authority in regulating the utilisation of resources. Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a leading cause of mortality worldwide and, in recent years, has become an urgent public health concern in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Data from LMICs, however, remains limited. As such, the aim of this article is to systematically review the current literature on the incidence of SCD in LMICs to inform policymakers and identify potential research gaps. A search of PubMed and Embase was utilized to capture the targeted condition, outcome, and setting. Only peer-reviewed cohort studies in LMICs reporting SCD incidence estimates in the general population of individuals aged ≥1 year were eligible for selection. Papers providing incidence data for specific types of SCD, including sudden coronary death or death from sudden cardiac arrest, were also included. After deduplication, 1941 citations were identified and screened. Seven studies representing four countries--Cameroon, China, India, and Iran--met the criteria for inclusion and were considered in our analysis. The crude incidence rate for SCD ranged from 19.9 to 190 cases per 100,000 person-years, while ageadjusted rates ranged from 33.6 to 230 cases per 100,000 person-years. There was notable variability in methods utilized to ascertain SCD cases. These findings suggest that the incidence of all-cause SCD in LMICs and may exceed that of high-income countries; however, observed disparities may be partly attributable to differences in case ascertainment methods. Additional research is needed to better understand the true incidence of SCD in developing countries. It is crucial that future studies across regions utilize standard diagnostic criteria and methodology for identifying SCD, which would provide a framework by which to compare outcomes between settings. Dengue is a mosquito‑borne disease that is a public health concern and outbreaks have increased in India. The virus produces fever, hemorrhagic fever, and shock syndrome. Dengue may cause encephalopathy. Few autopsies in individuals with neurological complaints have been documented. Our paper reports on an adult with dengue and neurological symptoms with postmortem findings. Thirty‑six‑year‑old presented with a 2‑day fever. He was febrile with a normal systemic exam. By evening, he was stuporous. His platelet count was moderately decreased to about 80,000/cumm. His serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were positive for dengue non‑structural (NS) 1 antigen (Ag). He deteriorated and succumbed on day 4. An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death. On examination, the brain was edematous with frontoparietal, internal capsule, and brain stem hemorrhages. Microscopy showed vascular congestion, edema, multiple hemorrhages, and liquefactive necrosis. In India, diagnostic testing is limited. This patient’s platelet count was not too low, but postmortem findings of brain hemorrhages highlight the necessity of recognizing its uncommon manifestations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Moderate to severe hypertensive retinopathies are more likely to correlate with uncontrolled blood pressure in all ages. Mild microvascular changes are expected with natural aging and are therefore more concerning in patients younger than 40. Background: Depression is a major public health concern among Indian adolescents. Pre- and post-natal depression can often alter fetal development and have negative consequences on the physical and mental health of the mother. This paper aims to draw attention to the prevalence of depression and its correlates among currently married, ever-pregnant adolescents from two Indian States, i.e. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Methods: This study utilizes data from a subsample (n = 3116) of the prospective cohort study Understanding the Lives of Adolescents and Young Adults (UDAYA) among 10 to 19 year-old adolescents. Bivariate analysis was performed to assess the prevalence of depression by sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics. To further access the predictors associated with depression a logistic regression model was applied. Results: Around one-tenth (9%) of pregnant adolescents had depression. Regression analysis indicated that substance use, religion, autonomy, considering attempting suicide, premarital relationship, violence, dowry, adverse pregnancy outcome, menstrual problem, and parental pressure for the child immediately after marriage were significantly associated with depression. Conclusions: This study confirms the pre-existing annotation that teen pregnancy is linked with depression. Findings indicate that Adolescent mothers experiencing violence, and a history of adverse pregnancy outcomes are at increased risk of developing depression. A mucocele is a prevalent benign oral lesion distinguished by the extravasation or retention of mucous within submucosal tissue originating from minor salivary glands. Mucoceles predominantly manifest on the lower lip, followed by occurrences on the floor of the mouth and the buccal mucosa. Trauma and lip biting habits are one of the main causes of lesions. Mucoceles are rarely observed in infants. This paper highlights an atypical case of mucocele located within the floor of the mouth in the first year of life (9 months old) in a child who was treated successfully with complete surgical excision, and the patient is on regular postoperative follow-up. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine whether there is a connection between polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)-affected women's levels of the anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and certain cardiometabolic indicators. Materials and Methods: To find pertinent recent research published between 2017 and 2023, a thorough search was done in PubMed. Studies were included if they looked into the relationship between PCOS-related women's AMH levels and cardiometabolic markers. To determine pooled effect estimates, data from the included studies were examined using random-effects models. Results: Five papers were included in the meta-analysis since they satisfied the inclusion requirements. The meta-analysis found substantial positive relationships between AMH levels and markers of insulin resistance, fasting blood sugar levels, and dyslipidemia measures such as total cholesterol (SMD: 0.68, 95% confidence interval: 0.34–1.00, P < 0.001). Conclusion: This systematic review and meta-analysis show that AMH levels in PCOS-affected women significantly positively correlate with markers of insulin resistance, fasting glucose levels, and dyslipidemia parameters. These findings imply that the pathogenesis of the cardiometabolic abnormalities seen in PCOS may include AMH. AMH may be used as a biomarker to estimate the cardiometabolic risk in PCOS-affected women, but more studies are required to determine its clinical applicability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
