Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a popular neurological disorder affecting a critical part of the world's population. Its early diagnosis is extremely imperative for enhancing the quality of patients' lives. Recently, improved technologies like image processing, artificial intelligence involving machine learning, deep learning, and transfer learning have been introduced for detecting AD. This review describes the contribution of image processing, feature extraction, optimization, and classification approach in AD recognition. It deeply investigates different methods adopted for multiclass diagnosis of AD. The paper further presents a brief comparison of existing AD studies in terms of techniques adopted, performance measures, classification accuracy, publication year, and datasets. It then summarizes the important technical barriers in reviewed works. This paper allows the readers to gain profound knowledge regarding AD diagnosis for promoting extensive research in this field. This paper discusses about the modern techniques implemented in the field of agriculture which shaped the traditional farming to the smart farming (Agriculture 4.0). The rapid rise in the global population is one among the main reasons, besides monitoring of crops health and yield requires a huge labor force, which is also another reason for promoting intelligent systems into agriculture sector. In multi-spectral images made by Earth observation satellites that use push-broom scanning, such as those operated by Planet Labs Corp., moving objects can be identified by the appearance of the object at different locations in each spectral band. The apparent velocity can be measured if the relative acquisition time between images in different spectral bands is known to millisecond accuracy. The images in the Planet Labs archive are mosaics of individual exposures acquired at different times. Thus, there is not a unique acquisition time for each spectral band. In an earlier paper, we proposed a method to determine the relative acquisition times from the information in the images themselves. High-altitude balloons provide excellent targets to test our proposed method because of their high apparent velocity due to the orbital velocity of the satellite and geometric parallax in images aligned to the level of the ground. We use images of the Chinese balloon that crossed the US in February 2024 as well as images of an identical balloon over Colombia to test our method. The mathematical skeleton of a complex form has been essential for a variety of scientific fields and of great interest to many researchers for decades. It is based on several concepts such as the reconstruction of forms and image processing. This paper aims to develop a novel mathematical algorithm to approximate the skeleton of a non-polygonal shape and to compare it to the most used methods. The mathematical technique of skeletonization is used as a reference to validate and compare the proposed method to the most used ones. The crux of the proposed technique is to Cartesianize the shape (polygonize in 2D), then skeletonize it. Moreover, this novel method is grounded upon the construction of bisectors on the simplex of the corresponding Cartesianized shape. Python is used to implement the algorithm proposed and test it on multiple shapes. The comparison of the results generated by the proposed algorithm and the Python predefined function skeletonize() shows that the proposed method is more effective and could be adjusted through the rate of Cartesianization of the target shape. The major contributions of this novel technique include the mitigation of some issues of existing methods, simplification, and optimization of the processing performance mainly in terms of algorithm complexity. Feature extraction and matching are the basic procedures of the so-called Visual Odometer (VO), Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and many other image processing algorithms. Oriented features from accelerated segment test (FAST) and rotated binary robust independent elementary features (ORB) algorithm are widely used since they are computationally faster. In this paper, we proposed a method to generate a value for a feature, the value is called signature. In the matching step, we only compute Hamming distances of descriptors with the same signatures. Hence, the matching time is shortened. Compared with the original ORB algorithm, features to be matched dropped 69.63% on TUM datasets and 85.7% on VGG datasets by adopting our strategy. In addition, the precision is above 85% on both VGG and TUM datasets. We design a customized hardware architecture for ORB feature extraction and matching based on the proposed method. The hardware structure is implemented on Xilinx ZCU102 evaluation board. The clock frequency is set to 150 MHz. Our Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) system achieves 193 fps on 1 2 8 0 × 7 2 0 images with 1984 features on average and 314 fps on 6 4 0 × 4 8 0 images with 700 features on average, which is more efficient compared to the state-of-the-art works. In order to solve the local overexposure caused by uneven surface reflectance, this paper proposes a fast-adaptive illumination control method with a camera-projector system. At first, an image is captured by the camera and the local overexposed area is segmented using saliency detection. Then the calculated image is projected onto the object by the projector as corrective illumination. The calculation process includes the inversion of the gray value in the overexposed area and the adjustment based on the position and depth information of the object. The high-exposure saturated regional which affects the target recognition is thus reduced, and the original illumination intensity is reserved for the other regions. This process is iterated until the optimal illumination is achieved. The resulting image for each iteration is evaluated using Blind/no Reference Image Space Quality Estimator (BRISQUE). When BRISQUE value reaches the minimum, a high-quality image is achieved. The experiments show that the proposed approach can significantly improve the speed of obtaining normally exposed images, and this system provides new ideas for industry image acquisition. Foundation models (FMs) have rapidly evolved and have achieved significant accomplishments in computer vision tasks. Specifically, the prompt mechanism conveniently allows users to integrate image prior information into the model, making it possible to apply models without any training. Therefore, we proposed a workflow based on foundation models and zero training to solve the tasks of photoacoustic (PA) image processing. We employed the Segment Anything Model (SAM) by setting simple prompts and integrating the model’s outputs with prior knowledge of the imaged objects to accomplish various tasks, including: (1) removing the skin signal in three-dimensional PA image rendering; (2) dual speed-of-sound reconstruction, and (3) segmentation of finger blood vessels. Through these demonstrations, we have concluded that FMs can be directly applied in PA imaging without the requirement for network design and training. This potentially allows for a hands-on, convenient approach to achieving efficient and accurate segmentation of PA images. A key study area throughout the medical sector for image processing and analysis is medical image segmentation. The diagnosis and treatment strategies of doctors may have a solid foundation owing to accurate and effective medical image segmentation. Conventional approaches in this field rely on manual feature extraction, which makes segmentation complex, costs doctors’ time and energy, and involves a subjective evaluation that is readily susceptible to diagnostic errors. Researchers have applied convolutional neural network-based deep learning techniques to the segmentation of medical images as a result of their impressive advancements and successes in the field of computer vision. The research described here uses the U-Net network’s outstanding feature learning capabilities and end-to-end processing mode for lung CT image segmentation via fully convolutional network (FCN) research. However, focusing on valuable, crucial information aspects in the U-Net network is challenging. This study employed multilevel attention mechanisms on the basis of U-Net networks to enhance the model’s accuracy in lung CT image segmentation. These mechanisms were inspired by attention mechanisms. By improving the segmentation accuracy and optimizing the segmentation effect, the new model embeds a self-attention module in front of each upsampling layer in the U-Net model. This module provides more detailed information by stitching the self-attention module of the original image and then suppresses irrelevant and redundant information by using the effect of feature extraction of the upsampling layer. Several additional comparative experiments were conducted on the 2019nCoVR dataset. The outcomes demonstrate the efficacy of the optimized model described in this paper and its application results in improved segmentation effects in lung CT images. The exhaust silencing chamber and coil are key components of a refrigeration compressor, and their working stability and lifespan determine the reliability and economy of the refrigeration compressor. This paper obtains reference data for the fluid domain of the exhaust silencing chamber through simulation analysis and image processing of the existing exhaust silencing chamber structure and inner diameter size of the coil. Then, the optimal model of the prioritized exhaust chamber is obtained through pattern recognition method. Based on the image processing method, the internal flow field of the exhaust chamber are obtained, providing a strong reference for the optimal structural design of the exhaust silencing chamber and coil of the refrigeration compression body. The primary focus is on enhancing precision and efficacy in a scenario with limited sample data, achieved by integrating traditional image processing methods with diverse AutoML representatives. The investigation involves a meticulous evaluation and comparative analysis of classical Machine Learning (ML) models and AutoML models in microscopic printed image forensics. Apple-picking robot can promote the development of smart agriculture, and accurate object recognition in complex natural environments using deep learning algorithms is critical. However, research has shown that changes in illumination and object occlusion remain significant challenges for recognition. In order to improve the accuracy of apple apple-picking robot's identification and positioning of apples in natural environment, a method using YOLOv5 (You Only Look Once, YOLO) combined with fast-guided filter is proposed. By introducing a fast-guided filtering module, the ability to extract image features is improved, and the problem of inaccurate occlusion targets and edge detection is solved; K -means clustering algorithm is introduced in improving YOLOv5, which can realize automatic adjustment of image size and step size; BiFPN structure is introduced in Neck network to add weighted feature fusion to highlight the detailed features. The results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can well remove noise information such as occlusion edge blurring in apple images in a natural light environment. In the real orchard environment, the apple recognition accuracy rate reached 97.8%, the recall rate was 97.3% and the recognition rate was about 26.84 fps. The results show that this research based on YOLOv5 and fast-guided filtering can realize fast and accurate identification of apple fruits in natural environment, and meet the practical application requirements of real-time target detection. Financial risk warning is a crucial technical issue for enterprises. Traditionally, it relied on modeling analysis of a single data type, which does not fully capture the diverse characteristics of financial risk activities. To address this, this paper introduces a multimodal deep learning framework driven by semantic analysis and image processing for intelligent warning of enterprise financial risks. Initially, natural language processing algorithms analyze textual data such as financial statements, news reports, and social media comments within the industry. Concurrently, two convolutional neural network models, M-CNN and M-RNN, extract features from images and chart data. These textual and visual feature representations are then fused to create a multimodal deep neural network framework. Extensive experimental evaluation and comparative analysis of the proposed framework were conducted. The results indicate that the financial risk rate of consumer fraud graph analysis varies significantly, displaying a fluctuating state with values ranging from 2.1% to 16.8%. Compared to other methods, the proposed approach demonstrates superior performance in financial risk warning tasks, with the risk rate increasing from 1.2% to 26.5% as it iterates from 1 to 6. Proximal alternating direction method of multipliers (PADMM) is a classical primal-dual splitting method for solving separable convex optimization problems with linear equality constraints, which have numerous applications in, e.g., signal and image processing, machine learning, and statistics. In this paper, we propose a new variant of PADMM, called PADMC, whose proximal centers are constructed by convex combinations of the iterates. PADMC is able to take advantage of problem structures and preserves the desirable properties of the classical PADMM. We establish iterate convergence as well as (1 / K) ergodic and (1 / K) nonergodic sublinear convergence rate results measured by function residual and feasibility violation, where K denotes the iteration number. Moreover, we propose two fast variants of PADMC, one achieves faster (1 / K 2) ergodic convergence rate when one of the component functions is strongly convex, and the other ensures faster (1 / K) nonergodic convergence rate measured by constraint violation. The double-proximal gradient algorithm (DPGA) is a new variant of the classical difference-of-convex algorithm (DCA) for solving difference-of-convex (DC) optimization problems. In this paper, we propose an accelerated version of the double-proximal gradient algorithm for DC programming, in which the objective function consists of three convex modules (only one module is smooth). We establish convergence of the sequence generated by our algorithm if the objective function satisfies the Kurdyka– Ł ojasiewicz (K Ł) property and show that its convergence rate is not weaker than DPGA. Compared with DPGA, the numerical experiments on an image processing model show that the number of iterations of ADPGA is reduced by 43.57% and the running time is reduced by 43.47% on average. The fast scenario transfer for portrait styles has been a universal concern in the area of image processing. Conventionally, it was realized mostly by manual manipulation based on expertise experience, which costs a large amount of human labor. To fit the growing business volume in the era of Internet 4.0, it is supposed to investigate reliable autonomous workflow that generates portrait-style results via intelligent algorithms. Therefore, this paper proposes a fast scenario transfer method for portrait styles through collaborative awareness of convolutional neural network (CNN) and generative learning (GAL). On the one hand, a CNN structure is designed to make feature extraction towards the initial images, which can be used for following image generation. On the other hand, the GAL is utilized to generate new images with post-transferred scenario styles, so that the expected scenario style transfer results can be output by generating new images through long-term iterations. Especially, the loss function is designed by simultaneously considering local and global characteristics. Finally, the analysis and experimental results show that the correction process can be completed by injecting the extracted input face features into the feature maps of corresponding sizes in the generation process using a pre-trained feature extractor. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is one of the debilitating disorders of the central nervous system. This disease causes lesions in the white matter of the brain tissue. It can also lead to many physical and psychological disorders in movement, vision, and memory. Lesion segmentation in MRI images to determine the number and size of lesions is one of the diagnostic problems for specialists. Using automated diagnostic tools as an aid can help professionals. Traditional image processing and deep learning methods are used to automate lesion segmentation. The U-Net is one of the most widely used deep learning architectures for MS lesion segmentation. The images are used in the Fourier domain in the U-Net network, which does not include all its features. Our proposed method combines the HAR wavelet transform and the Dense net-based U-Net. This makes local features and lesions of different sizes more prominent and leads to higher quality segmentation. With the development of computer technology, image stylization has become one of the hottest technologies in image processing. To optimize the effect of artistic image style conversion, a method of artistic image style conversion optimized by attention mechanism is proposed. The CycleGAN network model is introduced, and then the generator is optimized by the attention mechanism. Finally, the application effect of the improved model is tested and analyzed. The results show that the improved model tends to be stable after 40 iterations, the loss value remains at 0.3, and the PSNR value can reach up to 15. From the perspective of the generated image effect, the model has a better visual effect than the CycleGAN model. In the subjective evaluation, 63 people expressed satisfaction with the converted artistic image. As a result, the cyclic generative adversarial network model optimized by the attention mechanism improves the clarity of the generated image, enhances the effect of blurring the target boundary contour, retains the detailed information of the image, optimizes the image stylization effect, and improves the image quality of the method and application value of the processing field. The prediction of fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) images from fundus structural images is a cutting-edge research topic in ophthalmological image processing. Prediction comprises estimating FFA from fundus camera imaging, single-phase FFA from scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO), and three-phase FFA also from SLO. Although many deep learning models are available, a single model can only perform one or two of these prediction tasks. To accomplish three prediction tasks using a unified method, we propose a unified deep learning model for predicting FFA images from fundus structure images using a supervised generative adversarial network. The three prediction tasks are processed as follows: data preparation, network training under FFA supervision, and FFA image prediction from fundus structure images on a test set. By comparing the FFA images predicted by our model, pix2pix, and CycleGAN, we demonstrate the remarkable progress achieved by our proposal. Soybean leaf disease labeling data are not easy to obtain, and soybean leaf disease model training often needs a lot of data. Due to the limitations of fixed rules such as rotation and clipping, traditional data enhancement cannot generate images with diversity and variability. In view of the above problems, this study proposed a data enhancement method based on generative adversarial network to expand the original soybean leaf disease dataset. This method was based on cyclic confrontation network, and its discriminator uses dense connection strategy to realize feature reuse, so as to reduce the amount of calculation. In the training process, improved transfer learning is used to automatically fine tune the pre-training model. The accuracy of the optimized method in 9 kinds of soybean leaf disease image recognition is 95.84%, which is 0.98% higher than the traditional fine-tuning method. The experimental results show that this method based on generating confrontation network has significant ability in generating soybean leaf disease image, and can expand the existing dataset.
