Since plant diseases occurring during the growth process are a significant factor leading to the decline in both yield and quality, the classification and detection of plant leaf diseases, followed by timely prevention and control measures, are crucial for safeguarding plant productivity and quality. As the traditional convolutional neural network structure cannot effectively recognize similar plant leaf diseases, in order to more accurately identify the diseases on plant leaves, this paper proposes an effective plant disease image recognition method aECA-ResNet34. This method is based on ResNet34, and in the first and the last layers of this network, respectively, we add this paper's improved aECAnet with the symmetric structure. aECA-ResNet34 is compared with different plant disease classification models on the peanut dataset constructed in this paper and the open-source PlantVillage dataset. The experimental results show that the aECA-ResNet34 model proposed in this paper has higher accuracy, better performance, and better robustness. In this research paper, we delve into the classification of Thai cuisine images. Despite Thailand's renowned reputation for its multicultural culinary landscape, there is a noticeable gap in dedicated studies on Thai food classification. This paper seeks to fill that void by applying deep learning methodologies, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), to the identification of Thai cuisine. Thai cuisine, shaped by regional and intra-regional variations, serves as a powerful cultural representation for the nation. The study employs image recognition through CNN and integrates transfer learning to enhance classification performance. The collaborative learning process between CNN and transfer learning contributes to achieving a noteworthy accuracy rate of 84%. Skin conditions are becoming increasingly prevalent across the world in current times. With the rise in dermatological disorders, there is a need for computerized techniques that are completely noninvasive to patients' skin. As a result, deep learning models have become standard for the computerized detection of skin diseases. The performance efficiency of these models improves with access to more data with their primary aim being image classification. In this paper, we present a skin disease detection methodology using image processing techniques, non-local means denoising and convolutional neural network (CNN) backed by sparse dictionary learning. Here, the major benefit of using NLM denoising followed by sparse dictionary learning with CNNs in image classification lies in leveraging a multi-stage approach that enhances the quality of input data, extracts meaningful and discriminative features, and improves the overall performance of the classification model. This combined approach addresses challenges such as noise robustness, feature extraction, and classification accuracy, making it particularly effective in complex image analysis tasks. For denoising, the average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) obtained for images from HAM-10000 dataset is 33.59 dB. For the ISIC-2019 dataset, the average PSNR for the train folder is 34.37 dB, and for the test folder it is 34.39 dB. The deep learning network is trained for the analysis of skin cancer images using a CNN model and is achieving acceptable results in classifying skin cancer types. The datasets used contain high-resolution images. After all the tests, the accuracy obtained is 85.61% for the HAM-10000 dataset and 81.23% for the ISIC-2019 dataset, which is on par with existing approaches validated by benchmarking results. In recent years, several methods have emerged for compressing image classification models using CNNs, for example, by applying pruning to the convolutional layers of the network. Typically, each pruning method uses a type of pruning distribution that is not necessarily the most appropriate for a given classification problem. Therefore, this paper proposes a methodology to select the best pruning policy (method + pruning distribution) for a specific classification problem and global pruning rate to obtain the best performance of the compressed model. This methodology was applied to several image datasets to show the influence not only of the method but also of the pruning distribution on the quality of the pruned model. It was shown that the selected pruning policy affects the performance of the pruned model to different extents, and that it depends on the classification problem to be addressed. Traditional image classification usually relies on manual feature extraction; however, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence and intelligent vision technology, deep learning models such as CNNs can automatically extract key features from input images to achieve efficient classification. This study focuses on the application of lightweight separable convolutional neural networks in domain-specific image classification tasks. In this paper, we discuss how to use the SSDLite object detection algorithm combined with the MobileNetV2 lightweight convolutional architecture for puppet dynasty recognition from images—a novel and challenging task. By constructing a system that combines object detection and image classification, we aimed to solve the problem of automatic puppet dynasty recognition to reduce manual intervention and improve recognition efficiency and accuracy. Chemical molecular structures are a direct and convenient means of expressing chemical knowledge, playing a vital role in academic communication. In chemistry, hand drawing is a common task for students and researchers. If we can convert hand-drawn chemical molecular structures into machine-readable formats, like SMILES encoding, computers can efficiently process and analyze these structures, significantly enhancing the efficiency of chemical research. Furthermore, with the progress of educational technology, automated grading is gaining popularity. When machines automatically recognize chemical molecular structures and assess the correctness of the drawings, it offers great convenience to teachers. We created ChemReco, a tool designed to identify chemical molecular structures involving three atoms: C, H, and O, providing convenience for chemical researchers. Currently, there are limited studies on hand-drawn chemical molecular structures. Therefore, the primary focus of this paper is constructing datasets. We propose a synthetic image method to rapidly generate images resembling hand-drawn chemical molecular structures, enhancing dataset acquisition efficiency. Regarding model selection, the hand-drawn chemical molecule structural recognition model developed in this article achieves a final recognition accuracy of 96.90%. At present, many diseases are diagnosed by computer tomography (CT) image technology, which affects the health of the lives of millions of people. In the process of disease confrontation, it is very important for patients to detect diseases in the early stage by deep learning of 3D CT images. The paper offers a hybrid multi-instance learning model (HLFSRNN-MIL), which hybridizes high-low frequency feature fusion (HLFFF) with sequential recurrent neural network (SRNN) for CT image classification tasks. Firstly, the hybrid model uses Resnet-50 as the deep feature. The main feature of the HLFSRNN-MIL lies in its ability to make full use of the advantages of the HLFFF and SRNN methods to make up for their own weakness; i.e., the HLFFF can extract more targeted feature information to avoid the problem of excessive gradient fluctuation during training, and the SRNN is used to process the time-related sequences before classification. The experimental study of the HLFSRNN-MIL model is on two public CT datasets, namely, the Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) dataset on lung cancer and the China Consortium of Chest CT Image Investigation (CC-CCII) dataset on pneumonia. The experimental results show that the model exhibits better performance and accuracy. On the TCIA dataset, HLFSRNN-MIL with Residual Network (ResNet) as the feature extractor achieves an accuracy (ACC) of 0.992 and an area under curve (AUC) of 0.997. On the CC-CCII dataset, HLFSRNN-MIL achieves an ACC of 0.994 and an AUC of 0.997. Finally, compared with the existing methods, HLFSRNN-MIL has obvious advantages in all aspects. Hyperspectral imaging is an increasingly popular technique in remote sensing, offering a wealth of spectral information for a range of applications. This paper presents a comparative study of hyperspectral image classification techniques using three different datasets: Indian Pines, Salinas, and Pavia University. The study employs a combination of three methods, namely stationary wavelet transforms (SWT), principal component analysis (PCA), and convolutional neural network (CNN), to develop a model for hyperspectral image classification. The proposed approach combines SWT and PCA for spatial feature extraction and dimensionality reduction, followed by classification using CNN. Furthermore, the study performs parameter tuning by changing the optimizer, activation function, and filter size of the CNN model on the Indian Pines dataset. The results demonstrate that the proposed SWT-PCA-CNN approach outperforms the conventional DWT-PCA and PCA-KNN algorithms, achieving an overall classification accuracy of 98.2%, 99.86%, 99.80% on the Indian Pines, Salinas and Pavia University datasets respectively. Several deep learning and transformer models have been recommended in previous research to deal with the classification of hyperspectral images (HSIs). Among them, one of the most innovative is the bidirectional encoder representation from transformers (BERT), which applies a distance-independent approach to capture the global dependency among all pixels in a selected region. However, this model does not consider the local spatial-spectral and spectral sequential relations. In this paper, a dual-dimensional (i.e., spatial and spectral) BERT (the so-called D2BERT) is proposed, which improves the existing BERT model by capturing more global and local dependencies between sequential spectral bands regardless of distance. In the proposed model, two BERT branches work in parallel to investigate relations among pixels and spectral bands, respectively. In addition, the layer intermediate information is used for supervision during the training phase to enhance the performance. We used two widely employed datasets for our experimental analysis. The proposed D2BERT shows superior classification accuracy and computational efficiency with respect to some state-of-the-art neural networks and the previously developed BERT model for this task. Ultra-wide-field fundus imaging (UFI) provides comprehensive visualization of crucial eye components, including the optic disk, fovea, and macula. This in-depth view facilitates doctors in accurately diagnosing diseases and recommending suitable treatments. This study investigated the application of various deep learning models for detecting eye diseases using UFI. We developed an automated system that processes and enhances a dataset of 4697 images. Our approach involves brightness and contrast enhancement, followed by applying feature extraction, data augmentation and image classification, integrated with convolutional neural networks. These networks utilize layer-wise feature extraction and transfer learning from pre-trained models to accurately represent and analyze medical images. Among the five evaluated models, including ResNet152, Vision Transformer, InceptionResNetV2, RegNet and ConVNext, ResNet152 is the most effective, achieving a testing area under the curve (AUC) score of 96.47% (with a 95% confidence interval (CI) of 0.931–0.974). Additionally, the paper presents visualizations of the model's predictions, including confidence scores and heatmaps that highlight the model's focal points—particularly where lesions due to damage are evident. Switchgear is a vital component of modern power systems, responsible for regulating the flow of electrical power. Contact issues, irregular loads, and other similar problems can cause switchgear to overheat, leading to unexpected disturbances and potential damage to the power equipment. Thermal imaging shows significant potential and is increasingly employed to detect faults in power equipment. However, the unique characteristics of thermal images often pose challenges to accurate fault detection. This research aims to study the effectiveness of transfer learning architectures for switchgear fault detection. This paper applies eleven transfer learning architectures, including SqueezeNet, GoogLeNet, InceptionV3, DenseNet201, ResNet50, Xception, InceptionResNetV2, ShuffleNet, EfficientNetB0, AlexNet, and VGG19. The results of the testing phase demonstrated that the application of transfer learning by fine-tuning pre-trained convolutional neural network architectures was highly effective in the classification of thermal images captured from switchgear units. The models achieved accuracy rates between 83.87% and 98.38%, and values of F 1 -Scores between 83.11% and 98.34% in the pre-trained architectures. The field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has been expanding and is explored by researchers in various fields. In medical diagnosis, for instance, the field of AI/ML is being explored because if medical diagnostic devices are built and designed with a backend of AI/ML, then the benefits would be unprecedented. Automated diagnostic tools would result in reduced health care costs, diagnosis without human intervention, overcoming human errors, and providing adequate and affordable medical care to a wider portion of the population with portions of the actual cost. One domain where AI/ML can make an immediate impact is medical imaging diagnosis (MID), namely the classification of medical images, where researchers have applied optimization techniques aiming to improve image classification accuracy. In this paper, we provide the research community with a comprehensive review of the most relevant studies to date on the use of deep CNN architecture optimization techniques for MID. As a case study, the application of these techniques to COVID-19 medical images were made. The impacts of the related variables, including datasets and AI/ML techniques, were investigated in detail. Additionally, the significant shortcomings and challenges of the techniques were touched upon. We concluded our work by affirming that the application of AI/ML techniques for MID will continue for many years to come, and the performance of the AI/ML classification techniques will continue to increase. In order to solve the most difficult problem of the architectural model established by CNN in solving specific problems, which results in parameter overflow and inefficient training, an optimization algorithm for nonlinear convolutional neural networks based on improved chameleon swarm algorithm is proposed. This article mainly introduces the use of Chameleon Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to research the parameters of CNN architecture, solve them, and achieve the optimization of the optimization model.Although the number of parameters that need to be set up in CNN is very large, this method can find better testing space for Alexnet samples with 5 different images. In order to improve the performance of the improved pruning algorithms, two candidate pruning algorithms are also proposed. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional Alexnet model, the improved pruning method improves the image recognition ability of the Caffe primary parameter set from 1.3% to 5.7%. For artificial intelligence (AI) applications, centralized learning on a cloud server and local learning on an internet-of-things device may suffer from data privacy leakage due to data sharing and inaccurate prediction due to limited computing resources. Transfer learning has been proposed as one potential solution to the world's big data problems. Transfer learning eliminates the need for each internet-of-things device to share local data with the cloud server during the training process. Instead, it can go through the training process on its own, using a cloud server's pre-trained model with high accuracy. As a result, despite its limited computing resources, the internet of things device can still predict with high accuracy. This paper proposes a transfer learning model for improving image detection accuracy on IoT devices with restricted computation. To obtain accurate image classification, a deep learning approach based on convolutional neural networks is used. The proposed method with freeze and unfreeze approaches achieves a higher validation accuracy (up to 43.6%) and a lower validation loss (up to 6.5 times) than the non-transfer learning method, according to simulation results using three relevant internet-of-things datasets. Celiac disease (CD) is a gluten-sensitive immune-mediated enteropathy. This proof-of-concept study used a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) CD histological images, normal small intestine control, and non-specified duodenal inflammation (7294, 11,642, and 5966 images, respectively). The trained network classified CD with high performance (accuracy 99.7%, precision 99.6%, recall 99.3%, F1-score 99.5%, and specificity 99.8%). Interestingly, when the same network (already trained for the 3 class images), analyzed duodenal adenocarcinoma (3723 images), the new images were classified as duodenal inflammation in 63.65%, small intestine control in 34.73%, and CD in 1.61% of the cases; and when the network was retrained using the 4 histological subtypes, the performance was above 99% for CD and 97% for adenocarcinoma. Finally, the model added 13,043 images of Crohn's disease to include other inflammatory bowel diseases; a comparison between different CNN architectures was performed, and the gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM) technique was used to understand why the deep learning network made its classification decisions. Deep learning algorithms are increasingly being used to diagnose dysgraphia by concentrating on the issue of uneven handwriting characteristics, which is common among children in the early stage of basic learning of reading and writing skills. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is a deep learning model popular for classification tasks, including the dysgraphia detection process in assisting traditional diagnosis procedures. The CNN-based model is usually constructed by combining layers in the extraction network to capture the features of offline handwriting images before the classification network. However, concerns have been expressed regarding the limited study comparing the performance of the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) and Sequential Networks in handwriting-related studies in identifying dysgraphia. The proposed method was employed in this study to compare the two network structures utilized for feature extraction in classifying dysgraphia handwriting To eliminate this gap. Therefore, a new layer structure design in the Sequential and DAG networks was proposed to compare the performance of two feature extraction layers. The findings demonstrated that the DAG network outperforms the Sequential network with 1.75% higher accuracy in classification testing based on confusion matrix analysis. The study provides valuable insights into the efficiency of various network structures in recognizing inconsistencies identified in dysgraphia handwriting, underlining the need for additional research and improvement in this field. The preservation and transmission of traditional villages is crucial to the prosperity and development of ethnic cultures. However, current traditional village surveys usually require a large number of experts and scholars to conduct field research, which is an expensive and time-consuming method, especially for large-scale tasks. Therefore, this study proposes an automatic classification method based on deep learning (DL) for the identification of traditional village heritage value elements (TVHVE). The study evaluates four selected convolutional neural network (CNN) frames using traditional villages in Hubei Province as a sample dataset. The results show that Residual Network152 (ResNet152) is the most suitable CNN frame for identifying TVHVE in Hubei. The stability and consistency of various TVHVE present in the ResNet152 model were evaluated using Area Under Curve (AUC) and Precision Recall Curve (PRC), which indicated satisfactory prediction performance for most elements, except for specific elements such as tombstones and stone carvings, which showed lower accuracy. In addition, the study sheds light on the areas of concern of the model with respect to different TVHVE images and elucidates the reasons behind the confusion between elements through semantic clustering based on image classification and interpretability analysis using the Gradient-Weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) heat map. By using an automated classification method based on DL, this study significantly reduces the cost and effort associated with traditional surveys. Due to the complexity of underwater environments and the lack of training samples, the application of target detection algorithms to the underwater environment has yet to provide satisfactory results. It is crucial to design specialized underwater target recognition algorithms for different underwater tasks. In order to achieve this goal, we created a dataset of freshwater fish captured from multiple angles and lighting conditions, aiming to improve underwater target detection of freshwater fish in natural environments. We propose a method suitable for underwater target detection, called DyFish-DETR (Dynamic Fish Detection with Transformers). In DyFish-DETR, we propose a DyFishNet (Dynamic Fish Net) to better extract fish body texture features. A Slim Hybrid Encoder is designed to fuse fish body feature information. The results of ablation experiments show that DyFishNet can effectively improve the mean Average Precision (mAP) of model detection. The Slim Hybrid Encoder can effectively improve Frame Per Second (FPS). Both DyFishNet and the Slim Hybrid Encoder can reduce model parameters and Floating Point Operations (FLOPs). In our proposed freshwater fish dataset, DyFish-DETR achieved a mAP of 96.6%. The benchmarking experimental results show that the Average Precision (AP) and Average Recall (AR) of DyFish-DETR are higher than several state-of-the-art methods. Traditional machine learning methods require the assumption that training and test data are drawn from the same distribution, which proves challenging in real-world applications. Moreover, deep learning models require a substantial amount of labeled data for training in classification tasks and limited samples may lead to overfitting. In many real-world scenarios, there is an insufficient supply of labeled samples within the target domain for learning. Transfer learning offers an effective solution, allowing knowledge from a source domain to be transferred to a target domain. Additionally, data augmentation enhances model generalization by increasing data samples, particularly beneficial when dealing with limited target domain data. In this paper, we synergistically enhance the model's performance on classification tasks by integrating transfer learning techniques with a data augmentation strategy. The immense representation power of deep learning frameworks has kept them in the spotlight in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification. Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (GCNs) can be used to compensate for the lack of spatial information in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). However, most GCNs construct graph data structures based on pixel points, which requires the construction of neighborhood matrices on all data. Meanwhile, the setting of GCNs to construct similarity relations based on spatial structure is not fully applicable to HSIs. To make the network more compatible with HSIs, we propose a staged feature fusion model called SFFNet, a neural network framework connecting CNN and GCN models. The CNN performs the first stage of feature extraction, assisted by adding neighboring features and overcoming the defects of local convolution; then, the GCN performs the second stage for classification, and the graph data structure is constructed based on spectral similarity, optimizing the original connectivity relationships. In addition, the framework enables the batch training of the GCN by using the extracted spectral features as nodes, which greatly reduces the hardware requirements. The experimental results on three publicly available benchmark hyperspectral datasets show that our proposed framework outperforms other relevant deep learning models, with an overall classification accuracy of over 97%. The paradigm shift brought by deep learning in land cover object classification in hyperspectral images (HSIs) is undeniable, particularly in addressing the intricate 3D cube structure inherent in HSI data. Leveraging convolutional neural networks (CNNs), despite their architectural constraints, offers a promising solution for precise spectral data classification. However, challenges persist in object classification in hyperspectral imagery or hyperspectral image classification, including the curse of dimensionality, data redundancy, overfitting, and computational costs. To tackle these hurdles, we introduce the spectrally segmented-enhanced neural network (SENN), a novel model integrating segmentation-based, multi-layer CNNs, SVM classification, and spectrally segmented dimensionality reduction. SENN adeptly integrates spectral–spatial data and is particularly crucial for agricultural land classification. By strategically fusing CNNs and support vector machines (SVMs), SENN enhances class differentiation while mitigating overfitting through dropout and early stopping techniques. Our contributions extend to effective dimensionality reduction, precise CNN-based classification, and enhanced performance via CNN-SVM fusion. Diatoms are a type of algae with many species. Accurate and quick classification of diatom species is important in many fields, such as water quality analysis and weather change forecasting. Traditional methods for diatom classification, specifically morphological taxonomy and molecular detection, are time-consuming and may not provide satisfactory performance. However, in recent years, deep learning has demonstrated impressive performance in this task, just like other image classification problems. On the other hand, networks with more layers do not guarantee increased accuracy. While increasing depth can be useful in capturing complex features and patterns, it also introduces challenges such as vanishing gradients, overfitting, and optimization challenges. Therefore, in our work, we propose DiatomNet, a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN) model that can classify diatom species accurately while requiring low computing resources. A recently introduced dataset consisting of 3027 diatom images and 68 diatom species is used to train and evaluate the model. The model is compared with well-known and successful CNN models (i.e., AlexNet, GoogleNet, Inceptionv3, ResNet18, VGG16, and Xception) and their customized versions obtained with transfer learning. The comparison is based on several success metrics: accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure, number of learnable parameters, training, and prediction time. Eventually, the experimental results reveal that DiatomNet outperforms the other models regarding all metrics with just a few exceptions. In this work, an exhaustive analysis of the partial discharges that originate in the bubbles present in dielectric mineral oils is carried out. To achieve this, a low-cost, high-resolution CMOS image sensor is used. Partial discharge measurements using that image sensor are validated by a standard electrical detection system that uses a discharge capacitor. In order to accurately identify the images corresponding to partial discharges, a convolutional neural network is trained using a large set of images captured by the image sensor. An image classification model is also developed using deep learning with a convolutional network based on a TensorFlow and Keras model. The classification results of the experiments show that the accuracy achieved by our model is around 95% on the validation set and 82% on the test set. As a result of this work, a non-destructive diagnosis method has been developed that is based on the use of an image sensor and the design of a convolutional neural network. This approach allows us to obtain information about the state of mineral oils before breakdown occurs, providing a valuable tool for the evaluation and maintenance of these dielectric oils. Photographs are the foremost powerful and trustworthy media of expression. At present, digital pictures not only serve forged information but also disseminate deceptive information. Users and experts with various objectives edit digital photographs. Images are frequently used as proof of reality or fact, therefore fake news or any publication that makes use of photos that have been altered in any way has a larger chance of deceiving readers. There is a need for a high-resolution image analysis model that processes individual pixels in images and a substantial amount of diverse image data, to detect image falsification. Convolutional neural network (CNN) with error level analysis (ELA) adopted in this research is found to be an ideal deep learning concept for detecting image manipulation. Deep-learning-based breast cancer image diagnosis is currently a prominent and growingly popular area of research. Existing convolutional-neural-network-related methods mainly capture breast cancer image features based on spatial domain characteristics for classification. However, according to digital signal processing theory, texture images usually contain repeated patterns and structures, which appear as intense energy at specific frequencies in the frequency domain. Motivated by this, we make an attempt to explore a breast cancer histopathology classification application in the frequency domain and further propose a novel multi-branch spectral channel attention network, i.e., the MbsCANet. It expands the interaction of frequency domain attention mechanisms from a multi-branch perspective via combining the lowest frequency features with selected high frequency information from two-dimensional discrete cosine transform, thus preventing the loss of phase information and gaining richer context information for classification. We thoroughly evaluate and analyze the MbsCANet on the publicly accessible BreakHis breast cancer histopathology dataset. It respectively achieves the optimal image-level and patient-level classification results of 99.01% and 98.87%, averagely outperforming the spatial-domain-dominated models by a large margin, and visualization results also demonstrate the effectiveness of the MbsCANet for this medical image application. In recent years, deep learning methods utilizing convolutional neural networks have been extensively employed in hyperspectral image classification (HSI) applications. Nevertheless, while a substantial number of stacked 3D convolutions can indeed achieve high classification accuracy, they also introduce a significant number of parameters to the model, resulting in inefficiency. Furthermore, such intricate models often exhibit limited classification accuracy when confronted with restricted sample data, i.e., small sample problems. Therefore, we propose a spectral–spatial double-branch network (SSDBN) with an attention mechanism for HSI classification. The SSDBN is designed with two independent branches to extract spectral and spatial features, respectively, incorporating multi-scale 2D convolution modules, long short-term memory (LSTM), and an attention mechanism. The flexible use of 2D convolution, instead of 3D convolution, significantly reduces the model's parameter count, while the effective spectral–spatial double-branch feature extraction method allows SSDBN to perform exceptionally well in handling small sample problems. When tested on 5%, 0.5%, and 5% of the Indian Pines, Pavia University, and Kennedy Space Center datasets, SSDBN achieved classification accuracies of 97.56%, 96.85%, and 98.68%, respectively. Alzheimer's disease is a gradual neurodegenerative condition affecting the brain, causing a decline in cognitive function by progressively damaging nerve cells over time. While a cure for Alzheimer's remains elusive, the detection of Alzheimer's disease (AD) through brain biomarkers is crucial to impede its advancement. High-resolution structural MRI scans, particularly T1-weighted images, are commonly used in Alzheimer's detection. These images provide detailed information about the brain's structure, allowing researchers and clinicians to identify abnormalities. Our study employs a deep learning methodology using T1-weighted MRI images for a binary classification task--distinguishing between AD and normal/healthy control (NC). The volumetric convolutional neural network model is deployed on pre-processed images and validated on MIRIAD datasets, achieving an impressive accuracy of 97%, surpassing other network models. Addressing the challenge of limited datasets for deep learning models, we incorporated various augmentation techniques such as rotation and rescaling, resulting in outstanding model accuracy and effective discerning between Alzheimer's disease and normal controls. The emergence of deep learning-based classification methods has led to considerable advancements and remarkable performance in image recognition. This study introduces the Multiscale Feature Convolutional Neural Network (MSFCNN) for the extraction of complex urban land cover data, with a specific emphasis on buildings and roads. MSFCNN is employed to extract multiscale features from three distinct image types—Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images, high-resolution satellite images (HR), and low-resolution satellite images (LR)—all collected within the Fengshan District of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The model in this study demonstrated remarkable accuracy in classifying two key land cover categories. Its success in extracting multiscale features from different image resolutions. In the case of UAV images, MSFCNN achieved an accuracy rate of 91.67%, with a Producer's Accuracy (PA) of 93.33% and a User's Accuracy (UA) of 90.0%. Similarly, the model exhibited strong performance with HR images, yielding accuracy, PA, and UA values of 92.5%, 93.33%, and 91.67%, respectively. These results closely align with those obtained for LR imagery, which achieved respective accuracy rates of 93.33%, 95.0%, and 91.67%. Overall, the MSFCNN excels in the classification of both UAV and satellite images, showcasing its versatility and robustness across various data sources.
