The development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), and autonomous driving (AD) has progressed rapidly in recent years, driven by artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), and their integration with dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) systems and fifth-generation (5G) networks. This has led to improved mobility conditions in different road propagation environments: urban, suburban, rural, and highway. The use of these communication technologies has enabled drivers and pedestrians to be more aware of the need to improve their behavior and decision making in adverse traffic conditions by sharing information from cameras, radars, and sensors widely deployed in vehicles and road infrastructure. However, wireless data transmission in VANETs is affected by the specific conditions of the propagation environment, weather, terrain, traffic density, and frequency bands used. In this paper, we characterize the path loss based on the extensive measurement campaign carrier out in vehicular environments at 700 MHz and 5.9 GHz under realistic road traffic conditions. From a linear dual-slope path loss propagation model, the results of the path loss exponents and the standard deviations of the shadowing are reported. This study focused on three different environments, i.e., urban with high traffic density (U-HD), urban with moderate/low traffic density (U-LD), and suburban (SU). The results presented here can be easily incorporated into VANET simulators to develop, evaluate, and validate new protocols and system architecture configurations under more realistic propagation conditions. The rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) are pivotal for the healthcare sector, especially as the world approaches an aging society which will be reached by 2050. This paper presents an innovative AIoT-enabled data fusion system implemented at the CMUH Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) to address the high incidence of medical errors in ICUs, which are among the top three causes of mortality in healthcare facilities. ICU patients are particularly vulnerable to medical errors due to the complexity of their conditions and the critical nature of their care. We introduce a four-layer AIoT architecture designed to manage and deliver both real-time and non-real-time medical data within the CMUH-RICU. Our system demonstrates the capability to handle 22 TB of medical data annually with an average delay of 1.72 ms and a bandwidth of 65.66 Mbps. Additionally, we ensure the uninterrupted operation of the CMUH-RICU with a three-node streaming cluster (called Kafka), provided a failed node is repaired within 9 h, assuming a one-year node lifespan. A case study is presented where the AI application of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), leveraging our AIoT data fusion approach, significantly improved the medical diagnosis rate from 52.2% to 93.3% and reduced mortality from 56.5% to 39.5%. The inability to see makes moving around very difficult for visually impaired persons. Due to their limited movement, they also struggle to protect themselves against moving and non-moving objects. Given the substantial rise in the population of those with vision impairments in recent years, there has been an increasing amount of research devoted to the development of assistive technologies. This review paper highlights the state-of-the-art assistive technology, tools, and systems for improving the daily lives of visually impaired people. Multi-modal mobility assistance solutions are also evaluated for both indoor and outdoor environments. The research study emphasizes how effective AI is at streamlining resource management, increasing system efficiency, and optimizing energy use. It focuses on the potential of blockchain to improve supply chain accountability and transparency, and it also discusses the game-changing potential of IoT to improve resource management. However, some issues must be resolved, including excessive costs, technological difficulties, data privacy concerns, and social repercussions. The essay advocates creating multidisciplinary research programs, funding R&D, and supporting collaborative relationships. It also suggests creating sustainable implementation plans, prioritizing ethical issues and data governance, and encouraging information exchange and awareness. By accepting these proposals, stakeholders may leverage the promise of green technology and innovation to build a sustainable future. Real-time data on a variety of topics, including traffic conditions, air and water quality, and water management, can be provided through IoT-enabled sensors. However, serious consideration must be given to data privacy, security, scalability, and interoperability issues to ensure IoT solutions' ethical and efficient adoption. Despite their enormous potential, the paper acknowledges the difficulties and constraints in implementing these technologies. Significant obstacles include high implementation costs, complex technical requirements, and the requirement for adequate data privacy and security safeguards. A sustainable and inclusive future also requires resolving ethical issues, including algorithmic prejudice, social fairness, and equitable access to technology. The report recommends encouraging cooperative relationships between academia, business, government, and communities to address these issues. Research and development investments are required to evaluate these technologies' practical use, scalability, and economic viability. Stress is a natural yet potentially harmful aspect of human life, necessitating effective management, particularly during overwhelming experiences. This paper presents a scoping review of personalized stress detection models using wearable technology. Employing the PRISMA-ScR framework for rigorous methodological structuring, we systematically analyzed literature from key databases including Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and PubMed. Our focus was on biosignals, AI methodologies, datasets, wearable devices, and real-world implementation challenges. The review presents an overview of stress and its biological mechanisms, details the methodology for the literature search, and synthesizes the findings. It shows that biosignals, especially EDA and PPG, are frequently utilized for stress detection and demonstrate potential reliability in multimodal settings. Evidence for a trend towards deep learning models was found, although the limited comparison with traditional methods calls for further research. Concerns arise regarding the representativeness of datasets and practical challenges in deploying wearable technologies, which include issues related to data quality and privacy. Future research should aim to develop comprehensive datasets and explore AI techniques that are not only accurate but also computationally efficient and user-centric, thereby closing the gap between theoretical models and practical applications to improve the effectiveness of stress detection systems in real scenarios. The emergence of the highly contagious coronavirus disease has led to multiple pandemic waves, resulting in a significant number of hospitalizations and fatalities. Even outside of hospitals, general practitioners have faced serious challenges, stretching their resources and putting themselves at risk of infection. Telemonitoring systems based on Internet of things technology have emerged as valuable tools for remotely monitoring disease progression, facilitating rapid intervention, and reducing the risk of hospitalization and mortality. They allow for personalized monitoring strategies and tailored treatment plans, which are crucial for improving health outcomes. However, determining the appropriate monitoring intensity remains the responsibility of physicians, which poses challenges and impacts their workload, and thus, can hinder timely responses. To address these challenges, this paper proposes an expert system designed to recommend and adjust the monitoring intensity for COVID-19 patients receiving home treatment based on their medical history, vital signs, and reported symptoms. The system underwent initial validation using real-world cases, demonstrating a favorable performance (F1-score of 0.85). Subsequently, once integrated with an Internet of Things telemonitoring system, a clinical trial will assess the system's reliability in creating telemonitoring plans comparable with those of medics, evaluate its effectiveness in reducing medic–patient interactions or hospitalizations, and gauge patient satisfaction and safety. Maintaining the quality of indoor environments in educational facilities is crucial for student comfort, health, well-being, and students' learning performance. Current indoor environment maintenance practices and building systems for educational facility spaces often fail to include feedback from students and exhibit limited adaptability to their needs. To address this problem, this paper introduces a novel artificial intelligence of things (AIoT)-based framework to predict multidimensional indoor environment quality (IEQ) conditions. The proposed framework integrates internet of things (IoT) systems with deep learning algorithms to systematically incorporate multidimensional IEQ data and multimodal feedback from occupants. By collecting, fusing, and analyzing real-time IEQ and occupant feedback data, the proposed framework predicts the future IEQ condition based on current conditions. This framework yields insights into the IEQ conditions and their potential impacts on student well-being, thereby facilitating the future development of climate-adaptive, data-driven, and human-centric educational facilities. The latest effort in delivering computing resources as a service to managers and consumers represents a shift away from computing as a product that is purchased, to computing as a service that is delivered to users over the internet from large-scale data centers. However, with the advent of the cloud-based IoT and artificial intelligence (AI), which are advancing customer experience automations in many application areas, such as recommender systems (RS), a need has arisen for various modifications to support the IoT devices that are at the center of the automation world, including recent language models like ChatGPT and Bard and technologies like nanotechnology. This paper introduces the marketing community to a recent computing development: IoT-driven fog computing (FC). Although numerous research studies have been published on FC "smart" applications, none hitherto have been conducted on fog-based smart marketing domains such as recommender systems. FC is considered a novel computational system, which can mitigate latency and improve bandwidth utilization for autonomous consumer behavior applications requiring real-time data-driven decision making. This paper provides a conceptual framework for studying the effects of fog computing on consumer behavior, with the goal of stimulating future research by using, as an example, the intersection of FC and RS. In the modern digital landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT), data interoperability and heterogeneity present critical challenges, particularly with the increasing complexity of IoT systems and networks. Addressing these challenges, while ensuring data security and user trust, is pivotal. This paper proposes a novel Semantic IoT Middleware (SIM) for healthcare. The architecture of this middleware comprises the following main processes: data generation, semantic annotation, security encryption, and semantic operations. The data generation module facilitates seamless data and event sourcing, while the Semantic Annotation Component assigns structured vocabulary for uniformity. SIM adopts blockchain technology to provide enhanced data security, and its layered approach ensures robust interoperability and intuitive user-centric operations for IoT systems. The security encryption module offers data protection, and the semantic operations module underpins data processing and integration. A distinctive feature of this middleware is its proficiency in service integration, leveraging semantic descriptions augmented by user feedback. The emergence of a new generation of applications such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and 5G has brought fog computing as cloud development toward the edge network. It is done by adding an extra layer of resources to meet low latency, high performance, mobility, and interoperability challenges. The development of fog markets and new beneficial business paradigms such as fog services considerably affect the future of fogonomics (which is defined as the economics of fog computing). Thus, it is a challenging issue to design a market-oriented model to deal with the economics-based resource management in fog computing, which adjusts the resource supply of Fog Resource Providers (FRPs) and the demands of User Services (USs) based on users' requirements while satisfying all parties' utilities. This paper proposes the Fog-Marketing scheme consisting of a Resource Propagation Component (RPC) and a Contract-aware Market Selection Component (CMSC) for resource provisioning in multi-tier fog computing. The RPC is deployed in each fog node to perform hierarchical resource propagation of FRPs to auction-based Fog Decentralized Markets (FDMs) close to USs to increase revenue opportunities, and embedded CMSC in the user agent applies a matching strategy to assign USs and FDMs aims to promote USs' utility. The simulation results under extensive experiments confirmed that the proposed scheme succeeded in reducing the Round-Trip-Time, increasing the revenue of FRPs, and improving the utility of USs compared to existing models. The Internet of Things (IoT) is seeing significant growth, as the quantity of interconnected devices in communication networks is on the rise. The increased connectivity of devices has heightened their susceptibility to hackers, underscoring the need to safeguard IoT devices. This research investigates cybersecurity in the context of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), which encompasses the cybersecurity mechanisms used for various healthcare devices connected to the system. This study seeks to provide a concise overview of several artificial intelligence (AI)-based methodologies and techniques, as well as examining the associated solution approaches used in cybersecurity for healthcare systems. The analyzed methodologies are further categorized into four groups: machine learning (ML) techniques, deep learning (DL) techniques, a combination of ML and DL techniques, Transformer-based techniques, and other state-of-the-art techniques, including graph-based methods and blockchain methods. In addition, this article presents a detailed description of the benchmark datasets that are recommended for use in intrusion detection systems (IDS) for both IoT and IoMT networks. Moreover, a detailed description of the primary evaluation metrics used in the analysis of the discussed models is provided. In recent years, the rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has raised concerns about the security and reliability of IoT systems. Anomaly detection is vital for recognizing potential risks and ensuring the optimal functionality of IoT networks. The Internet of Things (IoT) was born from the fusion of virtual and physical space and became the initiator of many scientific fields. Economic sustainability is the key to further development and progress. To keep up with the changes, it is necessary to adapt economic models and concepts to meet the requirements of future smart environments. Today, the need for electronic commerce (e-commerce) has become an economic priority during the transition between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. Unlike mass production in Industry 4.0, customized production in Industry 5.0 should gain additional benefits in vertical management and decision-making concepts. The authors' research is focused on e-commerce in a three-layer vertical IoT environment. The vertical IoT concept is composed of edge, fog, and cloud layers. Given the ubiquity of artificial intelligence in data processing, economic analysis, and predictions, this paper presents a few state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) algorithms facilitating the transition from a flat to a vertical e-commerce concept. The authors also propose hands-on ML algorithms for a few e-commerce types: consumer–consumer and consumer–company–consumer relationships. The rapid adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in smart homes has led to growing security vulnerabilities, primarily due to the limitations of traditional, static access control mechanisms. This paper presents a novel, dynamic access control policy that leverages the immutable and transparent nature of Blockchain technology, specifically Ethereum, along with machine learning algorithms to enhance security measures. By integrating machine learning algorithms like Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Neural Networks, the proposed system can adapt and respond to changing behavioural patterns and potential threats in real time. Additionally, a caching mechanism implemented on the Ethereum Blockchain is introduced to optimize system performance and reduce latency. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in access control security, system efficiency, and adaptability. The findings of this paper not only contribute to the advancement of secure access control policies for IoT smart homes but pave the way for future research in integrating Blockchain and machine learning for robust and scalable IoT security solutions.

Breathing is one of the most vital functions for being mentally and emotionally healthy. A growing number of studies confirm that breathing, although unconscious, can be under voluntary control. However, it requires systematic practice to acquire relevant experience and skillfulness to consciously utilize breathing as a tool for self-regulation. After the COVID-19 pandemic, a global discussion has begun about the potential role of emerging technologies in breath-control interventions. Emerging technologies refer to a wide range of advanced technologies that have already entered the race for mental health training. Artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, biofeedback, non-invasive neurofeedback, and other wearable devices provide new, but yet underexplored, opportunities in breathing training. Thus, the current systematic review examines the synergy between emerging technologies and breathing techniques for improving mental and emotional health through the lens of skills development. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology is utilized to respond to the objectives and research questions. The potential benefits, possible risks, ethical concerns, future directions, and implications are also discussed. The results indicated that digitally assisted breathing can improve various aspects of mental health (i.e., attentional control, emotional regulation, mental flexibility, stress management, and self-regulation). A significant finding of this review indicated that the blending of different technologies may maximize training outcomes. Thus, future research should focus on the proper design and evaluation of different digital designs in breathing training to improve health in different populations. Acquiring hands-on skills is nowadays key for engineers in the context of Industry 4.0. However, it is not always possible to achieve this in person. Therefore, it is essential to be able to conduct skill acquisition from a remote location. To support the development of remote labs for experimentation, this work proposes the development of an open Industry 4.0 remote platform that can be easily configured and scaled to develop new remote labs for IoT (Internet of Things), cybersecurity, perception systems, robotics, AI (artificial intelligence), etc. Over time, these capabilities will enable the development of sustainable Industry 4.0 remote labs. These labs will coexist on the same Industry 4.0 platform, as our proposed Industry 4.0 remote platform is capable of connecting multiple heterogeneous types of devices for remote programming. In this way, it is possible to easily design open remote labs for the digital transition to Industry 4.0 in a standardized way, which is the main research goal of our In4Labs project. Several users already conducted a series of IoT experiments on our remote Industry 4.0 platform, providing useful recommendations to be included in future versions of the platform. Sedge is one type of weed that can infest the rice field, as well as broadleaf and grasses. If sedges are not appropriately controlled, severe yield loss will occur due to increased competition with cultivated rice for light, space, nutrients, and water. Both sedges and grasses are monocots and have similar narrowed leaf characteristics, but most sedge stems have triangular prismatic shapes in cross sections, which differ them from grasses. Event sedges and grasses differ in morphology, but differentiating them in rice fields is challenging due to the large rice field area and high green color similarity. In addition, climate change makes it more challenging as the distribution of sedge weed infestation is influenced by surrounding abiotic factors, which lead to changes in weed control management. With advanced drone technology, agriculture officers or scientists can save time and labor in distributing weed surveys in rice fields. Using hyperspectral sensors on drones can increase classification accuracy and differentiation between weed species. The spectral signature of sedge weed species captured by the hyperspectral drone can generate weed maps in rice fields to give the sedge percentage distribution and location of sedge patch growth. Researchers can propose proper countermeasures to control the sedge weed problem with this information. This review summarizes the advances in our understanding of the hyperspectral reflectance of weedy sedges in rice fields. From connected sensors in soils, on animals or crops, and on drones, to various software and services that are available, "smart" technologies are changing the way farming is carried out. These technologies allow producers to look beyond what the eye can see by collecting non-traditional data and then using analytics tools to improve both food sustainability and profitability. "Smart Agriculture/farming" (SA) or "Digital Agriculture" (DA), often used interchangeably, refer to precision agriculture that is thus connected in a network of sensing and acting. It is a concept that employs modern information technologies, precision climate information, and crop/livestock developmental information to connect production variables to increase the quantity and quality of agricultural and food products. This is achieved by measuring and analyzing variables accurately, feeding the information into the cloud from edge devices, extracting trends from the various data, and subsequently providing information back to the producer in a timely manner. Smart agriculture covers many disciplines, including biology, mechanical engineering, automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and information technology-digital platforms. Minimum standards have been proposed for stakeholders with the aim to move toward this highly anticipated and ever-changing revolution. These foundational standards encompass the following general categories, including precise articulation of objectives, and baseline standards for the Internet of Things (IoT), including network infrastructure (e.g., stable 4G or 5G networks or a wireless local area network (WLAN) are available to end users). To sum up, SA aims to improve production efficiency, enhance the quality and quantity of agricultural products, reduce costs, and improve the environmental footprint of the industry. Traditional analog and digital meters are being substantially replaced with technological advances and the Internet of Things (IoT) introduction. The smart meter is highly preferred for accessing real‐time consumption, tariff calculation, and remote system control. These smart meters also prevent the majority from bypassing theft. Despite its intelligence, it cannot be 100% secure. An error in the readings can be caused by hacking or damage to meter components making the utility companies suffer significant losses. Based on past and future energy consumption data predictions on the consumer side, various methods are used in the proposed work to identify theft or anomalies in smart meter readings. Forecast‐based detection proved to be the most effective and accurate method. The primary and secondary decision models, which employ a variety of statical analyses to identify system anomalies, serve as the foundation for the energy consumption that follows the forecasting. Past 24‐h data is needed for forecasting, which is passed through different statical calculations such as RMSE, simple moving average, and Absolute Percentage Error to conclude detecting the normal values. Every year, the percentage of people affected by cardiovascular diseases increases drastically. Out of them, a heart attack is the most prominent and painful disease. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 17.5 million people lose their lives yearly due to this disease, which is alarming. The remarkable advancement in wearable technology has opened doors to propose many effective smart solutions to tackle this disease efficiently. Furthermore, early diagnosis of heart attack proliferates the compatibility of meditation and expedites the diagnostic recommendation by clinical experts. Considering this problem's sensitivity, we proposed a wearable smart and early Heart Attack diagnosis system and adopted a decentralized computational phenomenon using hybrid computing architecture. It reflects better response time and minimal latency to detect a heart attack in its preliminary stage for homage patients. The proposed system can monitor and trigger the patient current heart status classified on required heart diagnosis parametric sensors assembled on the patient's body with the help of an android application. In this study, three models are developed using the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Adaptive Boosting (AdaBoost), and Random Forest (RF) algorithms for the classification. Performance measures: accuracy, error rate, and response time are used to evaluate the proposed system. The inability to see makes moving around very difficult for visually impaired persons. Due to their limited movement, they also struggle to protect themselves against moving and non-moving objects. Given the substantial rise in the population of those with vision impairments in recent years, there has been an increasing amount of research devoted to the development of assistive technologies. This review paper highlights the state-of-the-art assistive technology, tools, and systems for improving the daily lives of visually impaired people. Multi-modal mobility assistance solutions are also evaluated for both indoor and outdoor environments. Lastly, an analysis of several approaches is also provided, along with recommendations for the future.

As electronic voting systems become increasingly prevalent, the urgent need for robust security measures to combat evolving cyber threats has never been more critical. This paper introduces a ground-breaking architectural framework Secure-Tech Triad that synergistically combines Blockchain technology with Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to enhance the security and efficiency of electronic voting systems. This architectural framework utilizes a modified Proof-of-Stake (PoS) Blockchain algorithm, a Random Forest ML model for real-time anomaly detection, and an MQTT protocol for IoT-based data collection to create a more secure, efficient, and responsive voting environment. Rigorous testing and evaluation show that the integrated framework significantly outperforms existing Blockchain-only solutions in key performance indicators, such as security breach detection rate, system latency, and cost efficiency. This integrated approach is the best-performing model, achieving a 97% security breach detection rate, a 30% reduction in system latency (down to 2.3 seconds), and a 25% decrease in operational costs. These results underscore the combined effectiveness of Blockchain, AI, and IoT in enhancing security, speed, and cost-effectiveness. Specifically, the Random Forest algorithm has been instrumental in achieving an exceptional security breach detection rate, while IoT data collection has played a pivotal role in enabling real-time anomaly detection and proactive threat mitigation.
