This paper presents SMART (Selection Model for Assessment Resources and Techniques), a methodology that determines the optimal assessment activities for university-level education. The methodology employs multicriteria decision-making techniques, specifically AHP and TOPSIS methods, to optimize activities based on various subject-, lecturer-, activity-, and student-related criteria. According to SMART, the top five assessment tasks are group and individual report submissions, workshops, complex H5P activities, and questionnaires. The superiority of BWM over other weighting methods for obtaining the weight values of the attributes is that it achieves high-confidence results with a reasonable number of pairwise comparisons. Although the best-worst method (BWM) is a well-known multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method that has been successfully utilized in almost all scientific areas to solve challenging real-life problems, no research has comprehensively examined the state-of-the-art in this regard. The present study depicts a detailed overview of publications concerned with BWM during the period 2015–2022. Based on the information obtained from the Scopus database, this work presents a big picture of current research on BWM. In other words, this paper analyzes the existing literature about BWM and identifies thematic contexts, application areas, emerging trends, and remaining research gaps to shed light on future research agendas aligning with those gaps. Further, the most recent BWM research is analyzed in the top ten scientific areas, from engineering to materials science. “Engineering”, “computer science”, and “business, management, and accounting” are the hottest fields of BWM research. China is the most active country regarding “engineering” and “computer science”, whereas India is the leader in “business, management, and accounting”. The study also reveals that there are still many research gaps in BWM research. For the successful remediation of polluted sites, priority setting among the possible remediation technologies is of major importance. The related decisions are typically conditioned by a limited set of alternative remediation techniques and multiple, often contradicting criteria. These characteristics make the decision problem suitable for applying a formalised discrete multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). This paper reports on the outcome of a systematic review of articles published between 1995 and 2020 encompassing 43 MCDA applications to support the selection of the remediation technique for polluted soils. It focuses on the comparison between implementations of the MCDA methodology. The review identifies four gaps where progress can be made to mobilise the full strength of the MCDA methodology to support the remediation of polluted soils: (i) early stakeholder engagement, (ii) inclusion of social criteria, (iii) an informed choice of the weighting and aggregation method, (iv) and sensitivity analysis. Optimization of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a critical issue due to complex material removal mechanism, presence of multiple input parameters and responses (outputs) and interactions among them and varying interest of different stakeholders with respect to relative importance assigned to the considered responses. Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques have become potent tools in solving parametric optimization problems of the EDM processes. In this paper, more than 130 research articles from SCOPUS database published during 2013-22 are reviewed extracting information with respect to experimental design plans employed, materials machined, dielectrics used, process parameters and responses considered and MCDM tools applied along with their integration with other mathematical techniques. A detailed analysis of those reviewed articles reveals that the past researchers have mostly preferred Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array as the experimental design plan; EDM oil as the dielectric fluid; medium and high carbon steels as the work materials; peak current and pulse-on time as the input parameters; material removal rate, tool wear rate and surface roughness as the responses; and grey relational analysis as the MCDM tool during conducting and optimizing EDM operations. This review paper would act as a data repository to the future researchers in understanding the stochastic behaviour of EDM processes and providing guidance in setting the tentative operating levels of varying input parameters along with achievable response values. The extracted dataset can be treated as an input to any of the machine learning algorithms for subsequent development of appropriate prediction models. Modern challenges such as the liberalization of the railway sector and growing demands for sustainability, high-quality services, and user satisfaction set new standards in railway operations. In this context, railway infrastructure managers (RIMs) play a crucial role in ensuring innovative approaches that will strengthen the position of railways in the market by enhancing efficiency and competitiveness. Evaluating their performance is essential for assessing the achieved objectives, and it is conducted through a wide range of key performance indicators (KPIs), which encompass various dimensions of operations. Monitoring and analyzing KPIs are crucial for improving service quality, achieving sustainability, and establishing a foundation for research and development of new strategies in the railway sector. This paper provides a detailed overview and evaluation of KPIs for RIMs. This paper creates a framework for RIM evaluation using various scientific methods, from identifying KPIs to applying complex analysis methods. A novel hybrid model, which integrates the fuzzy Delphi method for aggregating expert opinions on the KPIs' importance, the extended fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method for determining the relative weights of these KPIs, and the ADAM method for ranking RIMs, has been developed in this paper. This approach enables a detailed analysis and comparison of RIMs and their performances, providing the basis for informed decision-making and the development of new strategies within the railway sector. The analysis results provide insight into the current state of railway infrastructure and encourage further efforts to improve the railway sector by identifying key areas for enhancement. The main contributions of the research include a detailed overview of KPIs for RIMs and the development of a hybrid multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) model. The advancement toward sustainable infrastructure presents complex multi-objective optimization (MOO) challenges. This paper expands the current understanding of design frameworks that balance cost, environmental impacts, social factors, and structural integrity. Integrating MOO with multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM), the study targets enhancements in life cycle sustainability for complex engineering projects using precast modular road frames. Three advanced evolutionary algorithms—NSGA-II, NSGA-III, and RVEA—are optimized and deployed to address sustainability objectives under performance constraints. The efficacy of these algorithms is gauged through a comparative analysis, and a robust MCDM approach is applied to nine non-dominated solutions, employing SAW, FUCA, TOPSIS, PROMETHEE, and VIKOR decision-making techniques. An entropy theory-based method ensures systematic, unbiased criteria weighting, augmenting the framework's capacity to pinpoint designs balancing life cycle sustainability. The results reveal that NSGA-III is the algorithm converging towards the most cost-effective solutions, surpassing NSGA-II and RVEA by 21.11% and 10.07%, respectively, while maintaining balanced environmental and social impacts. The RVEA achieves up to 15.94% greater environmental efficiency than its counterparts. The analysis of non-dominated solutions identifies the A 4 design, utilizing 35 MPa concrete and B500S steel, as the most sustainable alternative across 80% of decision-making algorithms. The ranking correlation coefficients above 0.94 demonstrate consistency among decision-making techniques, underscoring the robustness of the integrated MOO and MCDM framework. The results in this paper expand the understanding of the applicability of novel techniques for enhancing engineering practices and advocate for a comprehensive strategy that employs advanced MOO algorithms and MCDM to enhance sustainable infrastructure development. This paper presents a model for assessing the impact of various factors on maritime accidents. This paper discusses the issue of maritime transport and its risks. The taxonomy of causes and consequences used in maritime transport is explained. Two mathematical principles were used, i.e., multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and principal component analysis (PCA). The analyses were carried out using the Promethee/Gaia method. The connection between causes and accidents constituted the decision problem. The evaluation criteria, a set of actions and preferences, were identified based on the method principles. The results of this research include rankings of causal chains. They were analysed in multi-criteria and single-criteria dimensions. The outcomes are presented numerically and graphically. Such research contributes to improving safety at sea. It allows us to understand how a particular transport system works. Digital financial inclusion and common prosperity are pivotal elements in promoting the sustainable socioeconomic development of China. This study introduces a novel Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) method to evaluate the Common Prosperity Index (CPI). Using this index, alongside the Digital Financial Inclusion Index (DFII) released by Peking University, it examines the evolution of the coupling coordination relationship between digital financial inclusion and common prosperity within the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) urban agglomeration from 2011 to 2021. By integrating gravity models and social network analysis, in this paper, we thoroughly investigate the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of the spatial network of this coupling coordination relationship. The results indicate that both the DFII and CPI generally exhibit an upward trend, but the decline in the coupling degree reflects a weakened interaction strength between them. Specifically, Anhui significantly lags behind Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai in the development of digital financial inclusion and common prosperity, indicating regional development imbalances. Furthermore, the strength of spatial connections in city coupling coordination has significantly increased, with Nanjing's siphon effect on cities in Anhui becoming markedly stronger, and the number of core cities in the network increasing, which demonstrates a geographical proximity feature in network development. Additionally, the overall network characteristics are transitioning towards higher density and "small-world" properties, suggesting a trend toward network stabilization. The disparity in centrality among cities has decreased, with an overall enhancement in centrality, where the spatial spillover effects from core areas such as Hangzhou-Ningbo, Nanjing-Changzhou, and Shanghai-Suzhou-Wuxi significantly promote the development of peripheral cities. In this paper, we consider multi-criteria decision-making problems of selecting the best decision alternative in which the preferences of the decision maker are given in the form of quasi-orders. If the decision maker's preferences are modeled by a family of complete quasi-orders (in particular, by a parametric family of additive value functions) then a common approach to solving such problems is based on the notion of potential optimality. In this paper, we consider the case in which the decision maker's preferences are modeled by a family of incomplete quasi-orders. We suggest a new approach to selecting decision alternatives by introducing the notion of potential nondominated alternatives. Such alternatives can be regarded as candidates for the best alternative. We investigate properties of the sets of potential nondominated alternatives and, for the case of a parametric family of partial quasi-orders, we develop a method of their identification. Drone delivery in city logistics is gaining attention due to road congestion, environmental threats, etc. However, there are risks associated with using drones which can result in hazardous events, such as conflicts in the air, loss of control, and system failures. It is crucial to assess the risks involved in using different types of drones and choose the option with the lowest risk. The existence of different criteria important for this decision imposes the need to apply the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method(s). This paper proposes a new hybrid model that combines the fuzzy Factor Relationship (FARE) method for obtaining the criteria weights and the Axial Distance-based Aggregated Measurement (ADAM) method for obtaining the final ranking of the alternatives. A single-rotor microdrone weighing up to 4.4 lb was chosen as the optimal solution, and after that, the most favorable are also the drones of this size (multi-rotor and fixed-wing microdrones). The establishment of a novel hybrid MCDM model, the identified risks, the set of criteria for evaluating the least risky drones, and the framework for prioritizing the drones are the main novelties and contributions of the paper. This paper introduces the comprehensive value function, a novel framework designed to address multi-dimensional challenges in sustainability assessment within decision-making processes. Multi-criteria decision-making methods based on multi-attribute utility theory excel at integrating environmental, social, and economic factors but typically focus on positive and neutral impacts. This limitation often results in the oversight of critical negative consequences, thus restricting their effectiveness in all-encompassing sustainability evaluations. The proposed framework addresses this gap by quantifying the degree of satisfaction across a full spectrum of sustainability impacts and integrating negative outcomes essential for holistic assessments. The necessity of this model is highlighted by the shortcomings of current practices, where adverse impacts are frequently overlooked and existing frameworks fail to foresee the negative repercussions of various alternatives. By facilitating the creation of positive, negative, or piecewise functions, the CVF provides a comprehensive reflection of impacts, essential for well-informed sustainability decisions. Integrating this function into established decision-making models leads to a more balanced approach adept at navigating the intricate trade-offs inherent in sustainable development. Customer feedback on online platforms is an unstructured database of growing importance for organizations, which, together with the rise of Natural Language Processing algorithms, is increasingly present when making decisions. In this paper, a bibliometric analysis is carried out with the intention of understanding the prevailing state of research about the adoption of sentiment analysis methods in organizations when making decisions. It is also a goal to comprehend which business sectors, and areas within the company, they are most applied, and to identify what future challenges that in this area may arise, as well as the main topics, authors, articles, countries, and universities most influential in the scientific literature. To this end, a total of 101 articles have been gathered from the Scopus and Clarivate Analytics Web of Science (WoS) databases, of which 85 were selected for analysis using the Bibliometrix tool. This study highlights the growing popularity of sentiment analysis methods combined with Multicriteria Decision Making and predictive algorithms. Twitter and Amazon are commonly used data sources, with applications across multiple sectors (supply chain, financial, etc.). This paper focuses on the testing and evaluation of special anti-chemical protective suits. The testing and evaluation focused on the subjective aspect of the protective suits, which is best perceived by their wearers; however, the subjective aspect only accounts for a certain proportion of the overall evaluation. For this reason, the proposed objective evaluation criteria are also presented in the thesis. Four types of anti-chemical protective suits were selected for testing. In this way, it was possible to compare their design specificities. An older type of civil protection suit and three modern types were selected for evaluation. Multi-criteria decision making and the expert method were used to develop the criteria. Mathematical relationships were used to evaluate the test results. A methodological procedure was developed to integrate the established subjective criteria in order to test. The results of the testing confirmed the construction and design advances of the protective suits over the older type of civil protection suit. At the same time, they pointed out possible shortcomings in the work and execution of the movements of the individual selected protective suits. By evaluating the data obtained, the most suitable protective suit was selected that best met the subjective criteria. However, these results need to be supplemented by an assessment of the objective criteria in the final evaluation. This paper also presents the characteristics of the selected protective suits in terms of technical parameters and objective criteria. The results of the study can further serve as a complementary way of evaluating the quality of protective suits. It is the subjective evaluation that is essential in a comprehensive assessment of the quality of protective suits, as the user himself often perceives the quality of the product differently from the manufacturer. Multi-objective reinforcement learning (MORL) extends traditional RL by seeking policies making different compromises among conflicting objectives. The recent surge of interest in MORL has led to diverse studies and solving methods, often drawing from existing knowledge in multi-objective optimization based on decomposition (MOO/D). Yet, a clear categorization based on both RL and MOO/D is lacking in the existing literature. Consequently, MORL researchers face difficulties when trying to classify contributions within a broader context due to the absence of a standardized taxonomy. To tackle such an issue, this paper introduces multi-objective reinforcement learning based on decomposition (MORL/D), a novel methodology bridging the literature of RL and MOO. A comprehensive taxonomy for MORL/D is presented, providing a structured foundation for categorizing existing and potential MORL works. The introduced taxonomy is then used to scrutinize MORL research, enhancing clarity and conciseness through well-defined categorization. Moreover, a flexible framework derived from the taxonomy is introduced. This framework accommodates diverse instantiations using tools from both RL and MOO/D. Its versatility is demonstrated by implementing it in different configurations and assessing it on contrasting benchmark problems. Results indicate MORL/D instantiations achieve comparable performance to current state-of-the-art approaches on the studied problems. By presenting the taxonomy and framework, this paper offers a comprehensive perspective and a unified vocabulary for MORL. Properly designed and installed interior stairs provide safe and convenient access to all residents of the house, including children and elderly people. While safety considerations are paramount for stair design and placement decisions in a two-storey single-family house, sustainability becomes another important factor in these deliberations. Nevertheless, safety and sustainability of the interior stairs can be seen as conflicting objectives in decision-making processes (i.e., while a larger staircase area positively affect residents' climbing ability, it also causes higher energy consumption and material usage). Therefore, increased awareness of stair-project selection processes is required when multi-objective tasks are involved. Seven criteria affecting stair safety and sustainability in a single-family house are identified in this paper. The integrated AHP-MEREC criteria-weighting approach is proposed, to determine their weights in decision-making processes. Four different multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches, ARAS, SAW, TOPSIS and PROMETHEE, were used to determine alternative evaluations. Since the selection of the most suitable MCDM method is full of uncertainties, the novel combined-decision-making approach formally called CORST (COmbining MCDM appRoaches using method STability coefficient) is proposed in this paper. The new method stability coefficient is used to determine the stability and reliability of the specific MCDM approach. The paper aims to improve a simple additive weighting method (SAW) and the max-min rule designed for M-DMC (multicriteria decision making under certainty) based on already developed extensions for the Laplace and Wald rules (applied to one-criterion decision making under uncertainty, i.e., 1-DMU). Some evident analogies between scenario-based 1-DMU and M-DMC have been recently revealed in the literature, which gives the possibility to implement necessary amendments in M-DMC procedures, particularly in the multiple solutions case. The suggested modifications consist of applying additional decision tools (for SAW) and using the lexicographic approach (for the max-min rule). Thanks to them, options, treated as equivalent according to original M-DMC procedures, may obtain different ranks in the ranking. Such an improvement facilitates the decision making process. This paper is mainly concerned with some of the theoretical aspects of equitable multi-objective optimization. By using the equitability preference structure, we discuss some properties of the equitably nondominated set, such as nonemptiness, external stability and connectedness. Also, we introduce the concept of proper equitable nondominance, and show that these solutions can be obtained by minimizing a weighted sum of the sort of objective functions where all weights are positive and decreasing. Moreover, we present a hybrid scalarization problem to generate equitably nondominated solutions. Selecting emergency suppliers from a wide range of candidates based on their performance under each criterion can be regarded as a multi-criterion decision making (MCDM) problem. Existing MCDM models to solve the emergency supplier selection problem ignored situations where large-scale suppliers exist, the influence of criteria weights on the robustness of ranking results, and the influence of psychology of regret aversion and disappointment aversion on decision results. To make up for these deficiencies, this paper proposes an MCDM model to solve emergency supplier selection problem with large-scale alternatives. Firstly, to avoid the influence of criteria weights on ranking of alternatives, the Robustness, Correlation, and Standard Deviation (ROCOSD) method is introduced to determine objective weights of criteria based on three objectives. Secondly, the τ-balanced clustering method is applied to cluster large-scale alternatives into balanced clusters. Next, considering the psychology of regret aversion and disappointment aversion of decision makers, a two-stage method is proposed to rank alternatives, which identifies the optimal alternative within each cluster and forms a new cluster consisting of these optimal alternatives in the first stage, and selects the optimal alternative from the new-formed cluster in the second stage. This paper provides a novel application of the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method to the multi-objective optimization problem (MOOP) of creating a two-stage helical gearbox (TSHG) with second-stage double gear sets (SDGSs). The aim of the study is to determine the optimum major design components for enhancing the gearbox efficiency while reducing the gearbox volume. In this work, three primary design parameters are chosen to accomplish this: the gear ratio of the first stage and the coefficients of the wheel face width (CWFW) of the first and second stages. Additionally, the study is conducted with two distinct objectives in mind: the lowest gearbox volume and the maximum gearbox efficiency. Moreover, phase 1 and phase 2, respectively, are the two stages of the MOOP. Phase 2 handles the MOOP to identify the ideal primary design factors as well as the single-objective optimization problem to minimize the difference between the variable levels. Additionally, the Multi-Attributive Ideal–Real Comparative Analysis (MAIRCA) approach is selected to deal with the MOOP. Various factors influence wildfire probability, including land use/land cover (LULC), fuel types, and their moisture content, meteorological conditions, and terrain characteristics. The Adriatic Sea coastal area in Croatia has a long record of devastating wildfires that have caused severe ecological and economic damages as well as the loss of human lives. Assessing the conditions favorable for wildfires and the possible damages are crucial in fire risk management. Adriatic settlements and ecosystems are highly vulnerable, especially during summer, when the pressure from tourist migration is the highest. However, available fire risk models designed to fit the macro-scale level of assessment cannot provide information detailed enough to meet the decision-making conditions at the local level. This paper describes a model designed to assess wildfire risks at the meso-scale, focusing on environmental and anthropogenic descriptors derived from moderate- to high-resolution remote sensing data (Sentinel-2), Copernicus Land Monitoring Service datasets, and other open sources. Risk indices were integrated using the multi-criteria decision analysis method, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), in a GIS environment. The model was tested in three coastal catchments, each having recently experienced severe fire events. The Energy-Water-Food (EWF) nexus is a complex and multidimensional system, in which the energy, water and food resources are strongly interconnected. EWF nexus systems are seriously threatened by natural hazards (e.g., climate change and extreme weather events) along with other human-driven threats, including rapid population growth, urbanization, terrorism, and geopolitical uncertainty. As such, integrated analysis, as encouraged by the EWF nexus can facilitate the identification of essential connections and potential conflicts that may arise in the planning and operation of resource systems. Moreover, in order to consider immediate shocks and long-term pressures, it is imperative to prioritize the strengthening of EWF system resilience by incorporating robust and efficient resource management strategies, which consider various dimensions of sustainability and security such as technical, environmental, economic, and societal aspects. Decentralization is one concept that has the potential of improving the resilience of nexus systems faced to the multiple risks governing them through reducing single points of failure and enabling swifter responses to sudden shocks and continuous volatilities. However, in order to achieve a holistic system resilience through decentralization, the assessment of the different risks impacting each nexus sector is fundamental, yet it can be particularly challenging. Therefore, the objective of this study is to review the currently available resilience assessment methods for the EWF nexus system. The systematic literature review will connect various assessment methods used within decentralization studies that are applied to improve the resilience performance of the EWF nexus system. A total of 84 journal papers were evaluated. The review demonstrates that the deployment of multi-criteria decision-making framework based on composite indicators can be effective in addressing risks and uncertainties within EWF systems. Furthermore, findings of this review illustrate complementary connections between decentralization and resilience concepts, which when integrated with the EWF nexus approach, can be effectively utilized for integrated sustainable resource management. Additive manufacturing (AM) is one of the technologies of Industry 4.0 that has been contributing to the development of different manufacturing industries. The integration of sustainability concepts into additive manufacturing has been gaining attention among researchers. This integration is essential in the development of AM technologies and can be a significant asset in terms of decision making for organizations. This work aims to present a concise literature review on the integration of decision making, especially multi-criteria decision making, and sustainability into the AM environment. The literature on this topic currently possesses a total of fifteen documents, which were analyzed in this work. Some developments on this topic have been achieved in domains such as material selection, process selection and challenges, and drivers' analysis of sustainable AM. This paper provides a novel application of a multi-criterion decision-making (MCDM) method to the multi-objective optimization problem of designing a two-stage helical gearbox. This study's goal is to identify the ideal primary design elements that increase gearbox efficiency while reducing the gearbox cross-section area. In this work, three primary design parameters were selected for investigation: the gear ratio of the first stage and the coefficients of wheel face width (CWFW) of the first and second stages. The multi-objective optimization problem was further split into two phases: phase 1 solved the single-objective optimization problem of minimizing the gap between the variable levels, and phase 2 solved the multi-objective optimization issue of identifying the ideal key design factors. Moreover, the multi-objective optimization problem was handled by the SAW method as an MCDM approach, and the weight criteria were computed using the entropy approach. This study's significant characteristics are as follows: First, a multi-objective optimization problem was successfully solved using the MCDM approach (SAW technique) for the first time. Second, the power losses in idle motion were investigated in this work in order to determine the efficiency of a two-stage helical gearbox. The purpose of this research paper is to present a framework for selecting a biogas plant for the Indian rural community, considering performability factors such as reliability, quality, maintainability, safety, and sustainability. This will ensure that the plant operates reliably, efficiently, and safely over its entire life cycle and can play a significant role as a decision-support tool for decision-makers (e.g., managers, engineers, stakeholders). The proposed framework integrates the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and the Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment (WASPAS) to optimally evaluate and prioritize the best alternative based on performability factors. The findings show that the suitable biogas plant in the context of the Indian rural population is a fixed-dome-type plant. The decision-making process in selecting the best biogas plant can be effectively aided by using this suggested tool. Currently, there are no proper tools or methods for selecting biogas plants for rural areas due to a lack of data or relevant literature on operational issues. The proposed method uses performability factors for the selection, which has not been researched so far. Moreover, the AHP–WASPAS approach offers a robust method for selecting biogas plants, ensuring efficient and sustainable energy production. The rough set (RS) and multi-granulation rough set (MGRS) theories have been successfully extended to accommodate preference analysis by substituting the equivalence relation (ER) with the dominance relation (DR). On the other hand, bipolarity refers to the explicit handling of positive and negative aspects of data. In this paper, with the help of bipolar fuzzy preference relation (BFPR) and bipolar fuzzy preference δ -covering (BFP δ C), we put forward the idea of BFP δ C based optimistic multi-granulation bipolar fuzzy rough set (BFP δ C-OMG-BFRS) model and BFP δ C based pessimistic multi-granulation bipolar fuzzy rough set (BFP δ C-PMG-BFRS) model. We examine several significant structural properties of BFP δ C-OMG-BFRS and BFP δ C-PMG-BFRS models in detail. Moreover, we discuss the relationship between BFP δ C-OMG-BFRS and BFP δ C-PMG-BFRS models. Eventually, we apply the BFP δ C-OMG-BFRS model for solving multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). Furthermore, we demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of our designed approach by solving a numerical example. We further conduct a detailed comparison with certain existing methods. Last but not least, theoretical studies and practical examples reveals that our suggested approach dramatically enriches the MGRS theory and offers a novel strategy for knowledge discovery, which is practical in real-world circumstances. This research investigates the optimal integration of Blockchain Technology (BT) in Supply Chain Management (SCM) within Chile's maritime ports. Utilizing fuzzy Logarithmic Methodology of Additive Weights (LMAW) and Double Normalization-based Multiple Aggregation Methods (DNMA), the study systematically identifies, prioritizes, and ranks key factors influencing BT adoption in SCM. The study's findings highlight crucial factors like enhanced transaction security, good supply chain practices, and risk management. Furthermore, it ranks the application of ports as prime candidates for BT integration. The research contributes theoretically by developing a hybrid model combining MCDA methods, and practically by guiding the strategic application of BT in the maritime logistics sector, aligning with the principles of Industry 5.0. This paper presents a novel approach that explores the utilization of BT in maritime supply chain management, incorporating MCDA in a vague environment. The research gap of this study lies in defining new contexts in both theoretical and practical literature reviews for extending the use of BT in SCM in the ports of Chile, according to Industry 5.0, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of operations in these places. Emergency decision support techniques play an important role in complex and safety-critical systems such as nuclear power plants (NPPs). Emergency decision-making is not a single method but a framework comprising a combination of various technologies. This paper presents a review of various methods for emergency decision support systems in NPPs. We first discuss the theoretical foundations of nuclear power plant emergency decision support technologies. Based on this exposition, the key technologies of emergency decision support systems in NPPs are presented, including training operators in emergency management, risk assessment, fault detection and diagnosis, multi-criteria decision support, and accident consequence assessment. The principles, application, and comparative analysis of these methods are systematically described. Additionally, we present an overview of emergency decision support systems in NPPs across different countries and feature profiles of prominent systems like the Real-Time Online Decision Support System for Nuclear Emergencies (RODOS), the Accident Reporting and Guiding Operational System (ARGOS), and the Decision Support Tool for Severe Accidents (Severa). Then, the existing challenges and issues in this field are summarized, including the need for better integration of risk assessment, methods to enhance education and training, the acceleration of simulation calculations, the application of large language models, and international cooperation. Optimization is a process of minimizing or maximizing a given objective function under specified constraints. In multi-objective optimization (MOO), multiple conflicting functions are optimized within defined criteria. Numerous MOO techniques have been developed utilizing various meta-heuristic methods such as Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs), Genetic Algorithms (GAs), and other biologically inspired processes. In a cooperative environment, a Pareto front is generated, and an MOO technique is applied to solve for the solution set. On other hand, Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is often used to select a single best solution from a set of provided solution candidates. The Multi-Criteria Decision Making–Pareto Front (M-PF) optimizer combines both of these techniques to find a quality set of heuristic solutions. This paper provides an improved version of the M-PF optimizer, which is called the elite Multi-Criteria Decision Making–Pareto Front (eMPF) optimizer. The eMPF method uses an evolutionary algorithm for the meta-heuristic process and then generates a Pareto front and applies MCDM to the Pareto front to rank the solutions in the set. The main objective of the new optimizer is to exploit the Pareto front while also exploring the solution area. The performance of the developed method is tested against M-PF, Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II), and Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-III (NSGA-III). The test results demonstrate the performance of the new eMPF optimizer over M-PF, NSGA-II, and NSGA-III. eMPF was not only able to exploit the search domain but also was able to find better heuristic solutions for most of the test functions used. Determining criteria weights plays a crucial role in multi-criteria decision analyses. Entropy is a significant measure in information science, and several multi-criteria decision-making methods utilize the entropy weight method (EWM). In the literature, two approaches for determining the entropy weight method can be found. One involves normalization before calculating the entropy values, while the second does not. This paper investigates the normalization effect for entropy-based weights and Hellwig's method. To compare the influence of various normalization methods in both the EWM and Hellwig's method, a study evaluating the sustainable development of EU countries in the education area in the year 2021 was analyzed. The study used data from Eurostat related to European countries' realization of the SDG 4 goal. It is observed that vector normalization and sum normalization did not change the entropy-based weights. In the case study, the max–min normalization influenced EWM weights. At the same time, these weights had only a very weak impact on the final rankings of countries with respect to achieving the SDG 4 goal, as determined by Hellwig's method. The results are compared with the outcome obtained by Hellwig's method with equal weights. The simulation study was conducted by modifying Eurostat data to investigate how the different normalization relationships discovered among the criteria affect entropy-based weights and Hellwig's method results. This study focuses on the objective assessment of sport development in socio-economic environments, considering the challenges faced by the industry. These challenges include disparities in regional investments, limited market participation, slow progress towards sports professionalization, and insufficient technological innovations. To tackle these challenges, we suggest implementing an integrated evaluation model that follows the DPSIR (Drivers, Pressures, States, Impacts, Responses) framework and incorporates comprehensive socioeconomic indicators. Subsequently, we utilized the Entropy power method and TOPSIS (Order Preference Technique for Similarity to an Ideal Solution, TOPSIS) analysis to comprehensively assess the progress of competitive sports development in 31 provinces and cities in China. Additionally, we recommended further developments in competitive sports and proposed precise strategies for promoting its growth. The framework and methodology developed in this paper provide an objective and scientifically based set of decision-making guidelines that can be adopted by government agencies and related industries in order to create successful plans that promote the sustainable growth of competitive sport. This is expected to bolster the nation's global influence, enhance social unity, and fuel economic expansion. The findings of this study offer policymakers valuable insights regarding competitive sports and can advance the development of the sports sector in China, thus making it a crucial driver of regional socio-economic progress. In recent years, influencer marketing has taken over traditional brand advertisements on social media platforms, combining word-of-mouth marketing with celebrity endorsements. However, there has been limited academic research on the key success factors in influencer marketing. This paper used a hybrid MCDM model that integrates the Delphi method and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach. Through a two-stage empirical study, the research aims to explore the crucial success factors in influencer marketing. This study focuses on the Taiwanese market. The target respondents for the survey are consumers in Taiwan who have purchased products or services based on recommendations from key opinion leaders (KOLs) or internet celebrities. This systematic research framework not only pinpoints key factors that capture consumer attention towards influencers, but it also illustrates the inter-relationship of structure and improvement directions among these factors. According to results, the key factors include influencer reputation, credibility, degree of key opinion influence, attractiveness, popularity, consistency between influencers and brands, fan engagement level, and informativeness. Finally, businesses can consider five aspects to be the purpose of collaboration, product type, target audience for the product, characteristics of the influencer's creative content, and media attributes. By comprehensively considering these aspects, businesses can determine the appropriate format for collaborative content. This decision can then guide how influencers communicate with consumers, effectively conveying brand information to the relevant target audience. The capacity of transport infrastructure is one of the very important tasks in transport engineering, which depends mostly on the geometric characteristics of road and headway analysis. In this paper, we have considered 14 road sections and determined their efficiency based on headway analysis. We have developed a novel interval fuzzy-rough-number decision-making model consisting of DEA (data envelopment analysis), IFRN SWARA (interval-valued fuzzy-rough-number stepwise weight-assessment-ratio analysis), and IFRN WASPAS (interval-valued fuzzy-rough-number weighted-aggregate sum–product assessment) methods. The main contribution of this study is a new extension of WASPAS method with interval fuzzy rough numbers. Firstly, the DEA model was applied to determine the efficiency of 14 road sections according to seven input–output parameters. Seven out of the fourteen alternatives showed full efficiency and were implemented further in the model. After that, the IFRN SWARA method was used for the calculation of the final weights, while IFRN WASPAS was applied for ranking seven of the road sections. The results show that two sections are very similar and have almost equal efficiency, while the other results are very stable. According to the results obtained, the best-ranked is a measuring segment of the Ivanjska–Šargovac section, with a road gradient = −5.5%, which has low deviating values of headways according to the measurement classes from PC-PC to AT-PC, which shows balanced and continuous traffic flow. Egypt's urban communities face many threats, including, pluvial floods, heat waves, and lack of publicly accessible urban green spaces. Nature-based solutions such as constructed wetlands (CWs) present a promising solution that could offer a wide range of ecosystem services (ES). However, the adoption of CWs is challenged by the lack of local planning guides and uncertainty about potential benefits. There are various models and tools available for quantifying and valuing ES, however, many of them are either highly complex or require extensive data and expertise. The aim of this paper is to develop a GIS-based multi-criteria decision model to select CW sites based on the supply and demand of ES. The model is to operate on three main stages: (i) demand: based on the need for risk reduction or benefit provisioning, (ii) potential sites (PSs): identify and score suitable sites for establishing a CW, and (iii) supply: define the service benefiting areas (SBA). An experimental approach is used, where the model is tested on New Damietta, an Egyptian Mediterranean city, proving the model is a reliable decision-making tool during preliminary urban planning stages due to its practicality, flexibility, and reasonable data requirements. This research addresses the problem of multi-objective resource allocation or resource deficits, offering robust answers to planning decisions that involve the elementary question: "How is it done?". The solution to the problem is realized using the general scheme of multi-criteria decision-making in uncertain conditions. The bases of the proposed scheme are associated with the possibilistic approach, which involves the generalization of fuzzy sets from the classical approach to process the uncertainty of information to produce robust (non-dominated) solutions in multi-criteria analysis. Applying this general scheme makes it possible to reduce regions of decision uncertainty through the maximum use of available quantitative information. In the case where quantitative information analysis is insufficient to obtain a unique solution, the proposed approach presupposes the appropriation of qualitative data extracted from experts, who express their opinions considering their knowledge, experience, and intuition. The information on the qualitative character can be represented in diverse preference formats processed by transformation functions to provide homogeneous information for decision procedures used at the final decision stage. The presented results have been implemented within the system of multi-criteria decision-making under uncertain conditions described in the paper. One of the crucial steps in the multi-criteria decision analysis involves establishing the importance of criteria and determining the relationship between them. This paper proposes an extended Hellwig's method (H_EM) that utilizes entropy-based weights and Mahalanobis distance to address this issue. By incorporating the concept of entropy, weights are determined based on their information content represented by the matrix data. The Mahalanobis distance is employed to address interdependencies among criteria, contributing to the improved performance of the proposed framework. To illustrate the relevance and effectiveness of the extended H_EM method, this study utilizes it to assess the progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda within the European Union countries for education in the year 2021. Performance comparison is conducted between results obtained by the extended Hellwig's method and its other variants. The results reveal a significant impact on the ranking of the EU countries in the education area, depending on the choice of distance measure (Euclidean or Mahalanobis) and the system of weights (equal or entropy-based). The purpose of this manuscript is to develop a novel MAIRCA (Multi-Attribute Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis) method to solve the MCDM (Multiple Criteria Decision-Making) problems with completely unknown weights in the q-rung orthopair fuzzy (q-ROF) setting. Firstly, the new concepts of q-ROF Lance distance are defined and some related properties are discussed in this paper, from which we establish the maximizing deviation method (MDM) model for q-ROF numbers to determine the optimal criteria weight. Then, the Lance distance-based MAIRCA (MAIRCA-L) method is designed. In it, the preference, theoretical and real evaluation matrices are calculated considering the interaction relationship in q-ROF numbers, and the q-ROF Lance distance is applied to obtain the gap matrix. The sustainable development of serious games dedicated to Chinese cultural heritage faces challenges due to the lack of prolonged user engagement and iterative optimization based on long-term user feedback. This situation not only hinders the sustainable growth of these games but also limits the transmission of Chinese cultural heritage, a problem that demands urgent attention yet remains under-acknowledged. This study synthesizes literature to unearth user needs from three dimensions: motivational use, quality requirements of games, and continuous usage intention. It identifies 14 influential factors, including cognitive satisfaction, immersion satisfaction, and achievement satisfaction. Drawing from the User Experience Rubric for Educational Games-CH (UEREG-CH) evaluation rubric and the Delphi method, these factors are expanded into an evaluation system model comprising six primary indicators, 14 secondary indicators, and 38 tertiary indicators. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is utilized for expert scoring to assign weights to each indicator. This is combined with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to arrive at a final user score of Z= 3.4228, indicating that the evaluation rubric is close to 'good' and has received positive user feedback. Ultimately, this generates an evaluation rubric tailored to the specific context of serious games for cultural heritage. By integrating qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper confirms the scientific and rational nature of the evaluation rubric. The study aims to establish a user-approved rubric that encourages continuous usage intention, thereby providing effective guidance for game developers and assisting users in selecting appropriate games, while also addressing the theoretical gap in the field of evaluation for serious games related to cultural heritage. Featured Application: The developed prototype is a tool to evaluate a supply situation and to plan required infrastructures more efficiently and precisely. It is part of a proposal for an integrated planning tool that covers several areas of supply planning. Dynamic processes in society and demographics require a rapid response and adaptation of the existing public service infrastructure. Responsible planners must be able to analyse the situation, identify gaps in provision and derive decisions. The paper presents a web application that supports finding answers to various questions and planning decisions in the context of public service infrastructures (e.g., schools, pharmacies, supermarkets). Due to the high complexity, the combination of multi-criteria decision analysis and geographical information systems, especially in the web context, is still rarely implemented. With this spatial decision support system, we are pursuing an approach that makes multi-criteria analyses with spatially explicit methods available to the planning domain. By using this application, the user can select and adjust input parameters independently and thus strongly influence the analysis process and results—without a deep knowledge of decision-making methods or software skills. With such a centrally provided online multi-criteria spatial decision support system, the transparency and the quality of the analysis increase, while the workload for the planners is reduced, since they no longer have to spend time on preliminary data search and integration or on building complex methods and models themselves. Personnel evaluation and selection is an essential part of modern business. Appropriate candidate selection can significantly contribute to companies in terms of increased profit, good culture, reputation, reduced costs, etc. This paper addresses the personnel evaluation and selection problem at the University of Pardubice, Faculty of Transport Engineering (UPCE). Since this is a typical ranking alternative problem where multiple criteria affect the decision, the Z-numbers-based Alternative Ranking Order Method Accounting for the two-step Normalization (AROMAN) is applied. Four Ph.D. candidates are assessed, and the most appropriate is selected to be employed by the UPCE. The Z-numbers fuzzy AROMAN method ranks Ph.D. candidate number four as the most appropriate alternative. To investigate the stability and sensitivity of the Z-numbers fuzzy AROMAN method, the values of parameters β and λ used in the mathematical calculations of the method were changed. The results of sensitivity analysis revealed that the obtained solution is stable. To confirm the robustness of the proposed approach, a comparative analysis is performed. Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), Weighted Product Model (WPM), and Z-number fuzzy TOPSIS were applied. Besides, we applied the fuzzy inferior ratio method as well. While biogas production offers promising solutions for waste management, energy diversification, and sustainable development, effective project implementation requires comprehensive evaluation criteria that encompass diverse aspects, such as the problem to be addressed, biodigester technology selection, business model development, investment considerations, and final product utilization. A preliminary study involving an integrative review of 58 articles yielded 499 unique criteria. These criteria were categorized into four groups: economic, environmental, social, and technical, encompassing a total of 39 subcriteria. Six stages of the biogas production cycle were considered in the analysis: project, initiation, biodigester type selection, location determination, operational cycle definition, and final product utilization. The analysis revealed that existing decision-making models often prioritize technical and economic considerations while neglecting broader social and environmental perspectives. This paper addresses this gap by proposing, for the first time, stage-specific, multicriteria decision-making (MDCA) models tailored to each phase of a biogas production cycle. These models empower project managers and policymakers to optimize resource allocation, minimize the environmental impact, maximize social benefits, and ensure project viability and profitability. The models' adaptability allows for tailored prioritization based on specific project requirements and contexts. Objective: To provide a comprehensive framework for value assessment of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology. Methods: This paper presents the RADAR framework, which has been adapted from Fryback and Thornbury's imaging efficacy framework to facilitate the valuation of radiology AI from conception to local implementation. Local efficacy has been newly introduced to underscore the importance of appraising an AI technology within its local environment. Furthermore, the RADAR framework is illustrated through a myriad of study designs that help assess value. Results: RADAR presents a seven-level hierarchy, providing radiologists, researchers, and policymakers with a structured approach to the comprehensive assessment of value in radiology AI. RADAR is designed to be dynamic and meet the different valuation needs throughout the AI's lifecycle. Initial phases like technical and diagnostic efficacy (RADAR-1 and RADAR-2) are assessed pre-clinical deployment via in silico clinical trials and cross-sectional studies. Subsequent stages, spanning from diagnostic thinking to patient outcome efficacy (RADAR-3 to RADAR-5), require clinical integration and are explored via randomized controlled trials and cohort studies. Cost-effectiveness efficacy (RADAR-6) takes a societal perspective on financial feasibility, addressed via health-economic evaluations. The final level, RADAR-7, determines how prior valuations translate locally, evaluated through budget impact analysis, multi-criteria decision analyses, and prospective monitoring. Conclusion: The RADAR framework offers a comprehensive framework for valuing radiology AI. Optimized production scheduling can greatly improve efficiency and reduce waste in the steel manufacturing industry. With the increasing demands on the economy, the environment, and society, more and more factors need to be considered in the production scheduling process. Currently, only a few methods are developed for the comprehensive evaluation and prioritization of scheduling schemes. This paper proposes a novel MCGDM (multi-criteria group decision making) method for the ranking and selection of production scheduling schemes. First, a novel indicator system involving both qualitative and quantitative indicators is put forward. Diverse statistical methods and evaluation functions are proposed for the evaluation of quantitative indicators. The evaluation method of qualitative indicators is proposed based on heterogeneous data, cloud model theory, and group decision-making techniques. Then, a novel Group AHP model is proposed to determine the weights of all evaluation indicators. Finally, a novel cloud-model-enhanced TOPSIS (technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution) method is proposed to rank alternative production scheduling schemes. A practical example is presented to show the implementation details and demonstrate the feasibility of our proposed method. The results and comparative analysis indicate that our hybrid MCGDM method is more reasonable, flexible, practical, and effective in evaluating and ranking production scheduling schemes in an uncertain environment. Simple Summary: Beekeeping is an activity that supports agriculture and wildlife on earth, so it is very important to provide accurate information that is able to help in increasing the profitability of beekeeping and valorize pollination services. In this paper, a new methodology is proposed to assess beekeeping potential using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process. The proposed tool will support decision making by selecting the best apiary locations to maximize honey production and, consequently, the risks of losing bee colonies will be reduced. The Suitability map (apiary aptitude map) allows for validating the best locations for apiaries (considering the spatial and floristic resources use), and the aptitude for installing new apiaries or moving existing ones. In this sense, the application of Multi-criteria GIS Analysis, in the context of beekeeping planning, is a useful tool for the Beekeepers Association to manage honeybee resources within the territory in order to maximize their profit, and for government agencies to implement promotional measures and policies to maximize food support needs and mitigate spared diseases. Beekeeping management is greatly influenced by spatial factors (e.g., land use/land cover, roads, or electrical energy networks), so GIS are a powerful tool to overlap and relate a variety of spatial data levels and, consequently, a very useful tool for beekeeping activity planning. This study was developed within the intervention area of three controlled zones managed by Portuguese Beekeepers Associations. The methodology, based on multi-criteria decision analysis, integrates several criteria, such as hydrographic networks, road networks, soil occupation, solar radiation, and electromagnetic radiation sources. These criteria were proposed and evaluated through online questionnaires carried out with beekeepers. Concerning the selected criteria and the respective geographical data, the most relevant were land use/land cover and water availability, with a significance of 44% and 24%, respectively. The beekeeping suitability map enabled us to evaluate the degree of compliance for the actual location of apiaries, with 60% of the apiaries being installed in high potential areas. In the context of beekeeping planning, the potential of the techniques applied seems to be an important tool for optimizing the location of apiaries and the profitability of beekeeping. In this paper, a hybrid method based on a linear programming model for solving Multi-Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) problems by combining two new methods, the COmplex PRoportional ASsessment (COPRAS) and the Multi-Objective Optimization Ratio Analysis (MOORA) and also using the concept of discrimination intensity functions are presented. Further interaction with the Decision Maker (DM) to determine the weights of the attributes and calculate the weights by solving a linear programming problem without determining the predetermined weight are two of the advantages of the new method. In the proposed method, for each alternative, attributes are weighted with optimism for that alternative, and then alternatives are ranked through efficiency intervals. The proposed method is implemented on a real-world problem derived from the subject literature and compared with other MADM methods. This paper introduces a pioneering model that merges coupled Markov chains (CMC) with the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) to enhance multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) amidst the dynamic interplay of criteria. Traditional MCDM frameworks often lack the granularity to manage the intricate and changing relationships among criteria. Our model addresses this gap by integrating fuzzy numbers into AHP, providing a nuanced means to handle the inherent uncertainty of decision criteria. The application of the Kronecker product in CMC enriches our approach, offering a data-driven analysis while mitigating excessive dependence on subjective expert opinion. A comprehensive numerical example underlines the model's improved decision-making accuracy and efficiency, marking a substantial advancement in MCDM methodologies.
