Continuous enhancement of sustainable development capacity is one of the goals of building a well-off society. In order to understand the development of each region, it is necessary to make a comprehensive evaluation of their sustainable development capacity. This paper presents a study of the 11 regions of Hebei Province, China. Considering the influence of time on urban development, this paper comprehensively evaluates the sustainable development ability of each region in Hebei Province from three dimensions of society, economy and environment based on panel data. The evaluation results show that Shijiazhuang has the strongest sustainable development capacity. On this basis, the promoting factors and restricting factors of sustainable development in each region are found by using grey correlation analysis method. The coordination and stability of the regional economy (RE) and ecological quality (EQ) are essential for the synergistic development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration (BTH). In this paper, based on remote sensing data and economic statistics data, this paper analysed the current situation and evolution of the RE and EQ in the BTH region. Based on the coupled coordination degree (CCD) model, this paper has developed an evaluative framework and quantifies the spatiotemporal coupled coordination of the RE and EQ in the BTH region from 2000 to 2020. The results show that: (1) in 2020, the GDP of the poverty-stricken counties (PSCs) around BTH accounted for 4.57% of the total BTH region, and the area of high-quality ecosystems, Net Primary Productivity (NPP), soil conservation, water conservation, and sand fixation accounted for more than 40% of the total BTH region; (2) the GDP growth of the PSCs accounted for 4.45% of the total growth in BTH, the reduced area of high-quality ecosystems accounted for 21.04%, and the increase in NPP, soil conservation, water conservation, and sand fixation accounted for more than 40% of the total growth in the BTH region; (3) the CCD of the RE and EQ in the BTH region showed a tendency to increase, but the gap between the regions gradually expanded, and the development type changed from a lagging RE to a lagging EQ, in which the coupled coordination grade of the PSCs was in a dissonance stage for a long time, and the level of economic development had to improve. Deepening the understanding of the spatiotemporal coupling relationship between the RE and EQ and adopting appropriate development policies is of great significance for achieving the coordinated and integrated development of the BTH region. Forest biomass estimation is undoubtedly one of the most pressing research subjects at present. Combining multi-source remote sensing information can give full play to the advantages of different remote sensing technologies, providing more comprehensive and rich information for aboveground biomass (AGB) estimation research. Based on Landsat 8, Sentinel-2A, and ALOS2 PALSAR data, this paper takes the artificial coniferous forests in the Saihanba Forest of Hebei Province as the object of study, fully explores and establishes remote sensing factors and information related to forest structure, gives full play to the advantages of spectral signals in detecting the horizontal structure and multi-dimensional synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data in detecting the vertical structure, and combines environmental factors to carry out multivariate synergistic methods of estimating the AGB. This paper uses three variable selection methods (Pearson correlation coefficient, random forest significance, and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO)) to establish the variable sets, combining them with three typical non-parametric models to estimate AGB, namely, random forest (RF), support vector regression (SVR), and artificial neural network (ANN), to analyze the effect of forest structure on biomass estimation, explore the suitable AGB of artificial coniferous forests estimation of machine learning models, and develop the method of quantifying saturation value of the combined variables. The results show that the horizontal structure is more capable of explaining the AGB compared to the vertical structure information, and that combining the multi-structure information can improve the model results and the saturation value to a great extent. In this study, different sets of variables can produce relatively superior results in different models. The variable set selected using LASSO gives the best results in the SVR model, with an R 2 values of 0.9998 and 0.8792 for the training and the test set, respectively, and the highest saturation value obtained is 185.73 t/ha, which is beyond the range of the measured data. The problem of saturation in biomass estimation in boreal medium- and high-density forests was overcome to a certain extent, and the AGB of the Saihanba area was better estimated. The South-to-North Water Diversion Project (SNWDP) is believed to drive the next phase of sustainable productivity growth, meeting growing water demand, so as to address increasing environmental sustainability challenges. The Middle Route of SNWDP is regarded as an extremely large long-distance inter-basin water diversion project, which has benefited Henan, Hebei, Tianjin and Beijing since 2014 with great sustainable changes to the cities, groundwater, ecological environment, industrial structure and social development of the beneficiary areas. Taking the number of industrial enterprises above designated size (IEDS) in the water-receiving areas as the research object, this paper takes the year of policy implementation 2014 as the basic time point, evaluating the change of the number of IEDS in the beneficiary areas of the Middle Route of SNWDP through difference-in-difference model. The results show that: (1) The Middle Route of SNWDP promotes the additional growth of the number of IEDS in the beneficiary areas. (2) When the Middle Route of SNWDP promotes the growth of the number of IEDS in beneficiary areas, there is no regional difference for regions with different development levels. (3) The reasons why the Middle Route of SNWDP contributes to the additional growth of the number of IEDS are composed of promoting mixed ownership reform of enterprises in beneficiary areas, increasing water supply and increasing population. However, the Middle Route of SNWDP has not had a significant impact on the traditional total factor productivity or the components of production factors, technology and capital. From the final outcome, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project has played a facilitating role in the sustainable development of large-scale enterprises in the water-receiving areas. Photovoltaic power generation prediction constitutes a significant research area within the realm of power system artificial intelligence. Accurate prediction of future photovoltaic output is imperative for the optimal dispatchment and secure operation of the power grid. This study introduces a photovoltaic prediction model, termed ICEEMDAN-Bagging-XGBoost, aimed at enhancing the accuracy of photovoltaic power generation predictions. In this paper, the original photovoltaic power data initially undergo decomposition utilizing the Improved Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (ICEEMDAN) algorithm, with each intrinsic mode function (IMF) derived from this decomposition subsequently reconstructed into high-frequency, medium-frequency, and low-frequency components. Targeting the high-frequency and medium-frequency components of photovoltaic power, a limiting gradient boosting tree (XGBoost) is employed as the foundational learner in the Bagging parallel ensemble learning method, with the incorporation of a sparrow search algorithm (SSA) to refine the hyperparameters of XGBoost, thereby facilitating more nuanced tracking of the changes in the photovoltaic power's high-frequency and medium-frequency components. Regarding the low-frequency components, XGBoost-Linear is utilized to enable rapid and precise prediction. In contrast with the conventional superposition reconstruction approach, this study employs XGBoost for the reconstruction of the prediction output's high-frequency, intermediate-frequency, and low-frequency components. Ultimately, the efficacy of the proposed methodology is substantiated by the empirical operation data from a photovoltaic power station in Hebei Province, China. Relative to integrated and traditional single models, this paper's model exhibits a markedly enhanced prediction accuracy, thereby offering greater applicational value in scenarios involving short-term photovoltaic power prediction. Optimizing resource efficiency and mitigating climate change have become consensuses of human society. However, there is still a gap in assessing the carbon emission efficiency (CEE) and identifying the influence of various factors, especially in rapid urbanizing regions. In this paper, we built a stochastic frontier analysis model to assess CEE and conducted a case study in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Urban Agglomeration (BTHUA), a typical area of collaborative development in China. A comprehensive influencing factor index was constructed to analyze and identify the key influencing factors of CEE. The results revealed that the average CEE among the 13 cities increased in volatility from 2000 to 2019. The average CEE in Langfang was lowest, while that in Tangshan was highest. The input-related factors had a negative effect on CEE, including carbon emissions per capita, employment per ten thousand people, total assets per capita, and energy intensity. GDP per capita, the urbanization level, and the proportion of the tertiary sector's GDP had positive impacts on CEE. Future policy formulation should focus on the transition from labor- and material-intensive industries to knowledge- and technology-intensive industries. New urbanization in counties and the logistics industry are closely related and are essential in promoting regional economic and social development. There are specific challenges and obstacles to revealing the interaction mechanism and system state measurement between the two. This paper explains the two coupling mechanisms and constructs the evaluation index system. It proposes a new analysis method based on the coupling coordination degree model, the spatio-temporal evolution analysis, and the grey prediction model. The goal is to learn more about and fully realize the coordinated development mechanisms of the two. It then uses the Hebei province of China as an example to empirically analyze its systematic cross-sectional data from 2013 to 2022. Research findings: (1) In Hebei province, the new urbanization in counties and the logistics industry have a systematic coupling relationship. However, the logistics industry's comprehensive development level is relatively lagging. The two systems have been at a high-level coupling stage for the last decade and maintain a high coupling status. The coupling coordination has shown significant improvement. (2) Although the geographical distribution of the coupling and coordination degree of the new urbanization in counties and logistics industry system has short-term volatility, it is still stable in the long term and presents economic-related spatial characteristics. (3) Over the next five years, the coupling coordination of 11 cities in Hebei province will steadily grow. There will be greater harmonization between the two systems. (4) From the analysis results, the evaluation index system of the coupled system constructed is scientific and reasonable. The analysis method can not only measure the system's coupling degree, but it can also predict the development trend and analyze the spatial evolution. Sandy soil in the north of Hebei region of China is widely distributed, the temperature difference between day and night is large, the phenomenon of freezing and thawing is obvious, and the soil body before and after the freezing and thawing cycle of sandy soil slopes is affected by the changes. This paper takes the stability of a sandy soil anchorage interface under a freeze-thaw cycle as the research background and, based on the self-developed anchor-soil interface shear device, analyses the influence of changing sand rate, confining pressure, and the number of freeze-thaw cycles on the shear characteristics of an anchor-soil interface in anchorage specimens. The research findings indicate that, at 50–60% sand contents, the shear strength increases with a higher sand content and is positively correlated with confining pressure within a higher range. A higher sand content stabilises the anchoring body, but an excessively high sand content can lead to failure. Increasing the sand content, confining pressure, and freeze-thaw cycle number all result in a reduction in the shear displacement at the peak strength. After 11 freeze-thaw cycles, the shear strength of the anchoring body stabilises, with a reduction in strength of approximately 32%, and a higher sand content effectively reduces the reduction in strength. Agricultural ecological efficiency is an important tool with which to measure the coordination of the sustainable development of agricultural economies and ecological environments. In this paper, a super-efficiency slacks-based measures model was used to measure the agricultural ecological efficiency in Hebei Province. The characteristics of spatial and temporal evolution patterns were explored using a spatial Markov transfer matrix. The results showed that (i) based on measurements, the agricultural ecological efficiency in Hebei Province showed regional differences in four regions (eastern, northern, central and southern Hebei) and 141 counties; (ii) from the perspective of evolutionary characteristics of agricultural ecological efficiency, the overall development of in Hebei Province was good, with more concentrated spatial distribution and more obvious direction, while the type of transfer of agricultural ecological efficiency in Hebei Province showed strong stability that was significantly affected by geographical neighborhood conditions and the club convergence phenomenon; (iii) from the perspective of the long-term evolutionary trend of agricultural ecological efficiency, the areas adjacent to counties with low efficiency had limited potential for improvement, and the areas adjacent to counties with high grade had great potential. However, it was difficult to achieve large-scale improvement in agricultural ecological efficiency in Hebei Province, whether the impact of geospatial backgrounds was considered or not. As climate change intensifies, drought has become a major global engineering and environmental challenge. In critical areas such as agricultural production, accurate drought monitoring is vital for the sustainable development of regional agriculture. Currently, despite extensive use of traditional meteorological stations and remote sensing methods, these approaches have proven to be inadequate in capturing the full extent of drought information and adequately reflecting spatial characteristics. Therefore, to improve the accuracy of drought forecasts and achieve predictions across extensive areas, this paper employs deep learning models, specifically introducing an attention-weighted long short-term memory network model (AW-LSTM), constructs a composite drought monitoring index (CDMI) and validates the model. Results show that: (1) The AW-LSTM model significantly outperforms traditional long short-term memory (LSTM), support vector machine (SVM) and artificial neural network (ANN) models in drought monitoring, offering not only better applicability in meteorological and agricultural drought monitoring but also the ability to accurately predict drought events one month in advance compared to machine learning models, providing a new method for precise and comprehensive regional drought assessment. (2) The Huang-Huai-Hai Plain has shown significant regional variations in drought conditions across different years and months, with the drought situation gradually worsening in the northern part of Hebei Province, Beijing, Tianjin, the southern part of Huai North and the central part of Henan Province from 2001 to 2022, while drought conditions in the northern part of Huai North, southern Shandong Province, western Henan Province and southwestern Hebei Province have been alleviated. (3) During the sowing (June) and harvesting (September) periods for summer maize, the likelihood of drought occurrences is higher, necessitating flexible adjustments to agricultural production strategies to adapt to varying drought conditions. The Great Wall Villages (GWVs) are linked to the Great Wall in history, culture, and ecology. The cultural landscape resilience of Great Wall Villages (CLRGWVs) is distinctly significant. However, it is influenced by urbanization, pollution, and a lack of awareness of cultural landscape protection. Therefore, conservation and development practices still lack scientific strategies and guidance. This study proposes a new assessment system to quantify CLRGWVs, an analysis of the main influencing factors of resilience, and optimization paths to maintain sustainable development. Based on the socio-ecological system, this research designed the assessment with three criteria, eleven factors, and thirty-three indexes from the perspective of CLRGWVs. Furthermore, a demonstration test was constructed in Ningyuanbao Village, Dushikou Village, and Longmensuo Village in Chicheng County, Hebei Province, China. The results showed that there is some disparity between the three GWVs, with the resilience score of Dushikou Village being the highest in terms of resistance and learning. In contrast, Ningyuanbao Village's resilience score is the lowest since resistance, recovery, and learning capacity are lower than in Dushikou and Longmensuo. Some influencing factors were found to be highly related to adaptive capacity. Lastly, some low-resilience aspects were identified as critical improvement targets for which corresponding optimization strategies should be proposed. This could be applied to streamline resilience optimization paths according to local conditions. This paper provides new ideas and directions for dealing with the sustainable development of villages and the conservation of cultural landscapes. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration plan rose to the status of a national-level strategy in 2014. This paper provides a deep analysis of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area's inter-city commuter big data. This research analyzed the overview of spatial structure, polycentric structure, hierarchical structure and clustering characteristics of the BTH based on network analysis methods. It reveals that the inter-city commuter network exhibits clear polycentric characteristics, with Beijing acting as the central hub. The degree of network correlation between cities in Tianjin and Hebei is notably low, indicating that the flow of people primarily revolves around Beijing, while interactions between other cities remain limited. Therefore, it is necessary to further decentralize Beijing's non-capital core functions. The level of connectedness among the areas surrounding the Bohai Rim is not very high, and it has not developed the coastal advantage. The cooperation could be strengthed among the cities within Bohai Rim. The polycentric structure has initially taken shape, but it exhibits obvious polarization characteristics. Traditional settlements are vital carriers of Chinese history and culture, reflecting the direct and original needs of generations. However, the modernization of settlements will inevitably disrupt the spontaneous growth patterns inherent in traditional settlements. The degree of disorder of the settlement is not only the embodiment of its form, but also the concrete manifestation of its construction intention. We use the degree of disorder in settlements to assess the construction intentions of the settlements, the results allow us to assess whether new planning aligns with the original construction logic, thereby assessing the extent of interference by modernization in traditional villages. This can provide guidance and assistance for settlement conservation and future planning. By using the Delaunay triangulation network, street polar histogram and direction entropy, and comprehensibility of settlements, this paper quantitatively analyzes the degree of disorder in the three levels of architecture, street and local environment of the settlement. Liangjia Village, the example in this research, is divided into three areas—two new and one old. degree of disorders in architecture, streets, and local environment are calculated and compared with the overall settlement. The study finds that the construction logic for buildings and streets remains stable throughout development. However, notable differences exist in environmental construction principles between new and old sections. The analysis suggests that traditional settlements, guided by inherent principles, maintain stability under external influences, serving as a benchmark for future planning and modernization decisions. The physical parameterizations have important influence on model performance in precipitation simulation and prediction; however, previous investigations are seldom conducted at very high resolution over Hebei Province, which is often influenced by extreme events such as droughts and floods. In this paper, the influence of parameterization schemes and analysis nudging on precipitation simulation is investigated using the WRF (weather research and forecasting) model with many sensitivity experiments at the cumulus "gray-zone" resolution (5 km). The model performance of different sensitivity simulations is determined by a comparison with the local high-quality observational data. The results indicate that the WRF model generally reproduces the distribution of precipitation well, and the model tends to underestimate precipitation compared with the station observations. The sensitivity simulation with the Tiedtke cumulus parameterization scheme combined with the Thompson microphysics scheme shows the best model performance, with the highest temporal correlation coefficient (0.45) and lowest root mean square error (0.34 mm/day). At the same time, analysis nudging, which incorporates observational information into simulation, can improve the model performance in precipitation simulation. Further analysis indicates that the negative bias in precipitation may be associated with the negative bias in relative humidity, which in turn is associated with the positive bias in temperature and wind speed. This study highlights the role of parameterization schemes and analysis nudging in precipitation simulation and provides a valuable reference for further investigations on precipitation forecasting applications. A PDE‐constrained model predictive control (MPC) algorithm for open‐channel systems based on the Saint‐Vevant(S‐V) equations is investigated in this paper. The S‐V equations, which precisely model the dynamics of open‐channel systems, are quasi‐linear hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) without analytical solutions. Directly applying the S‐V equations to an MPC controller design becomes sophisticated. In this work, the calculus of variation is used to obtain the adjoint equations and the adjoint analysis method is utilized to deduce the gradients of the MPC optimization problem. Particularly, the physical constraints involving both the state and control variables are also considered. A gradient‐based optimization algorithm in combination with the numerical computation of Preissmann implicit scheme is proposed to solve the constrained MPC optimization problem. The control performances of the developed PDE‐constrained MPC algorithm with respect to the controlled water levels and gate openings are compared with those of the MPC controller designed for the linearized model. All the simulation tests are carried out on an aqueduct reach in Yehe Irrigation District in Hebei Province, China. The results show that the proposed PDE‐constrained MPC algorithm is a promising method in dealing with the constraints in terms of hyperbolic PDEs, control variables and state variables simultaneously. Introduction: Leaf area index (LAI) is a critical physiological and biochemical parameter that profoundly affects vegetation growth. Accurately estimating the LAI for winter wheat during jointing stage is particularly important for monitoring wheat growth status and optimizing variable fertilization decisions. Recently, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data and machine/depth learning methods are widely used in crop growth parameter estimation. In traditional methods, vegetation indices (VI) and texture are usually to estimate LAI. Plant Height (PH) unlike them, contains information about the vertical structure of plants, which should be consider. Methods: Taking Xixingdian Township, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, China as the research area in this paper, and four machine learning algorithms, namely, support vector machine(SVM), back propagation neural network (BPNN), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and two deep learning algorithms, namely, convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory neural network (LSTM), were applied to estimate LAI of winter wheat at jointing stage by integrating the spectral and texture features as well as the plant height information from UAV multispectral images. Initially, Digital Surface Model (DSM) and Digital Orthophoto Map (DOM) were generated. Subsequently, the PH, VI and texture features were extracted, and the texture indices (TI) was further constructed. The measured LAI on the ground were collected for the same period and calculated its Pearson correlation coefficient with PH, VI and TI to pick the feature variables with high correlation. The VI, TI, PH and fusion were considered as the independent features, and the sample set partitioning based on joint x-y distance (SPXY) method was used to divide the calibration set and validation set of samples. Results: The ability of different inputs and algorithms to estimate winter wheat LAI were evaluated. The results showed that (1) The addition of PH as a feature variable significantly improved the accuracy of the LAI estimation, indicating that wheat plant height played a vital role as a supplementary parameter for LAI inversion modeling based on traditional indices; (2) The combination of texture features, including normalized difference texture indices (NDTI), difference texture indices (DTI), and ratio texture indices (RTI), substantially improved the correlation between texture features and LAI; Furthermore, multi-feature combinations of VI, TI, and PH exhibited superior capability in estimating LAI for winter wheat; (3) Six regression algorithms have achieved high accuracy in estimating LAI, among which the XGBoost algorithm estimated winter wheat LAI with the highest overall accuracy and best results, achieving the highest R² (R² = 0.88), the lowest RMSE (RMSE=0.69), and an RPD greater than 2 (RPD=2.54) Discussion: This study provided compelling evidence that utilizing XGBoost and integrating spectral, texture, and plant height information extracted from UAV data can accurately monitor LAI during the jointing stage of winter wheat. This article uses 43 Sentinel-1A image datasets covering Beijing to obtain time series surface deformation information in the study area from January 2022 to October 2023. It analyzes the causes of land subsidence by integrating precipitation and urban construction. The main research results are as follows: (1) Three distinct subsidence areas are identified in the eastern part of Chaoyang District in Beijing (Subsidence Area A), the northwestern part of Tongzhou District in Beijing (Subsidence Area B), and Yanjiao Town in Hebei Province (Subsidence Area B), which is adjacent to Beijing. Subsidence Areas A and B exhibit a dispersed pattern, with maximum land subsidence rates exceeding −30 mm/year. In contrast, Subsidence Areas C displays a funnel-shaped subsidence, where the majority of areas experience land subsidence rates exceeding −25 mm/year, with a maximum rate reaching −45 mm/year. (2) Precipitation has a significant impact on surface deformation in the study area, and there is a strong correlation between precipitation and land subsidence, with correlation values of 0.77, 0.77, and 0.74, respectively. China has committed to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2060. Hebei, as a major energy province in China, has more challenging carbon peaking and carbon neutrality targets. Based on the extended STIRPAT model, this paper evaluates the time to peak carbon and post-peak carbon trend changes in Hebei province under different scenarios from 2020 to 2060. Based on the support vector machine model with particle swarm optimization, this paper evaluates the carbon neutral pathways under different scenarios in Hebei province from 2020 to 2060 in terms of forests, croplands, wetlands, grasslands and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS). The results show that a monotonically flat trend without inflection point, a single-inflection-point plateau-period trend and a multi-inflection-point inverted U-wave trend occur after carbon peaks. Hebei Province can achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 under the policy scenario and the enhanced scenario, and the enhanced scenario is better. Comparing with existing studies, the innovation of this paper is to design different trends of changes after carbon peak, combining carbon absorption and carbon emission, and providing more diversified development paths for carbon neutral strategies through a more integrated perspective and multi-scenario comprehensive analysis. Therefore, In the future, Hebei Province should establish a platform for carbon emissions monitoring and carbon footprint assessment, and set up an early warning and assessment mechanism for carbon peaking, so as to prevent a rebound trend in carbon emissions after peaking. At the same time, it should introduce and develop carbon capture and conversion technologies and promote the low-carbon transformation of the industrial and energy sectors, thereby forcing the early realization of peak carbon. Pay attention to the role of forestry resources in carbon neutrality, increase carbon sink resources such as forests and wetlands, promote the development of CCUS, and enhance the implementation of the policy. Purpose: To determine the caries status in children’s deciduous teeth and examine the influence of family oral health behaviours on the caries status. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 329 children aged 3–6 years in rural Heishanzui Township, Hebei Province, China, and used a completely random sampling method. These children underwent physical and oral health examinations. The questionnaires were given to the parents and caregivers of the examined children. Results: The prevalence of caries in the deciduous dentition among children aged 3–6 years was 80.55%, with a dmft index of 4.93. Children in the caries group ate sweets, chocolates, and carbonated drinks more frequently than did children in the caries-free group (p < 0.05). Children in the caries-free group brushed their teeth more frequently, with parents helping their children brush, more often than did those in the caries-affected group (p < 0.05). The level of parental education and annual household income also had statistically significant effects on the prevalence of caries in the two groups (p < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis revealed that the frequency of eating sweets was a risk factor for caries in deciduous teeth (odds ratio = 2.20; p < 0.05). Conclusion: The prevalence of caries in deciduous teeth among children aged 3–6 years in rural Heishanzui Township was high. Compared to children in the caries-affected group, the families and children in the caries-free group had better oral hygiene behaviours. This study investigates the carbon compensation mechanism as a tool to promote coordinated economic and environmental development in China's Jing-Jin-Ji region (Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei). A novel approach for calculating carbon compensation cost that integrate emission responsibility as well as carbon abatement cost through a bi-level programming model is proposed. Shared producer and consumer responsibility is established for carbon emissions under the multi-regional input-output model. Marginal abatement costs of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei are further calculated through the input-output and linear programming method. Results highlight that the emission responsibility allocation method significantly affects the inter-regional carbon compensation amount. The production-based approach leads to a 77% reduction of carbon compensation amount from Beijing to Hebei, and a 170% overestimation from Tianjin to Hebei compared with the shared responsibility approach in 2060. The optimal carbon compensation unit cost ranges from 1539 to 6438 yuan/ton when the carbon reduction ratio ranges from 10% to 20%. Beijing would compensate Hebei 3.56 and 29.74 billion yuan for achieving 10% and 20% emission reduction, respectively. Similarly, Tianjin's compensation for Hebei would be 0.23 and 1.87 billion yuan in the two scenarios. Results further show that implementing the proposed carbon compensation mechanism can reduce total abatement cost by 43% and 84% in Jing-Jin-Ji under the two scenarios. Coastal wetland ecosystems are critical due to their diverse ecological and economic benefits, yet they have been significantly affected by human activities over the past century. Understanding the spatiotemporal changes and underlying factors influencing these ecosystems is crucial for developing effective ecological protection and restoration strategies. This study examines the Tianjin–Hebei coastal wetlands using topographic maps from the 1940s and Landsat satellite imagery from 1975, 2000, and 2020, supplemented by historical literature and field surveys. The aim is to analyze the distribution and classification of coastal wetlands across various temporal intervals. The findings indicate an expansion of the Tianjin–Hebei coastal wetlands from 7301.34 km2 in the 1940s to 8041.73 km2 in 2020. However, natural wetlands have declined by approximately 44.36 km2/year, while constructed wetlands have increased by around 53.61 km2/year. The wetlands have also become increasingly fragmented, with higher numbers of patches and densities. The analysis of driving factors points to human activities—such as urban construction, cultivated land reclamation, sea aquaculture, and land reclamation—as the primary contributors to these changes. Furthermore, the study addresses the ecological and environmental issues stemming from wetland changes and proposes strategies for wetland conservation. This research aims to enhance the understanding among researchers and policymakers of the dynamics and drivers of coastal wetland changes, as well as the major challenges in their protection, and to serve as a foundation for developing evidence-based conservation and restoration strategies. Public health emergencies influence urban carbon emissions, yet an in-depth understanding of deviations between regional emissions under such emergencies and normal levels is lacking. Inspired by the concept of resilience, we introduce the concept of regional carbon resilience and propose four resilience indicators covering periods during and after emergencies. A synthetic difference-in-differences model is employed to compute these indicators, providing a more suitable approach than traditional methods assuming unchanged levels before and after emergencies. Using the COVID-19 pandemic in China as a case study, focusing on the power and industry sectors, we find that over 40% regions exhibit strong resilience (> 0.9). Average in-resilience (0.764 and 0.783) is higher than post-resilience (0.534 and 0.598) in both sectors, indicating lower resilience during than after emergencies. Significant differences in resilience performance exist across regions, with Hebei (0.93) and Hangzhou (0.92) as top performers, and Qinghai (0.29) and Guiyang (0.36) as the least resilient. Furthermore, a preliminary correlation analysis identifies 22 factors affecting carbon resilience; higher energy consumption, stronger industrial production, and a healthier regional economy positively contribute to resilience with coefficients over + 0.3, while pandemic severity negatively impacts resilience, with coefficients up to -0.58. Agricultural non-point source pollution (ANP) had become an important source of water pollution, which seriously restricted the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. As the primary agricultural production base in the region of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Hebei had serious ANP. In order to clarify the current status of ANP in Hebei and figure out the main pollution source and areas, ANP load of Hebei from 2000 to 2021 were evaluated by the export coefficient modeling (ECM) and spatial-temporal characteristics were carried out using geographic information system (GIS). In addition, ANP severity and emission characteristics of Hebei in 2021 were evaluated. The results showed that the environmental impact of ANP in southwest area was obviously more serious than that in northeast area of Hebei. Especially, ANP emissions in Hebei showed significant decreasing inflection points in 2007 and 2017, respectively, reaching a minimum by 2021. The TN and TP emissions of ANP in Hebei were 315,026.1 t and 50,323.76 t in 2021, respectively. The contribution of agricultural land, livestock and poultry breeding and rural life to TN and TP emissions were 37%, 34%, 29% and 20%, 61% and 18%, respectively. The ANP pollution mainly came from livestock and poultry breeding in Hebei Province. Conflict over land use is an issue that all countries are experiencing in the accelerated process of urbanization and industrialization. Research on the identification and characterization of land-use conflicts is an important basis for promoting the sustainable development of regional land use. Taking Hebei Province under the background of Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei integration as the research object, this article combines the SCCI model and the LUF model to study the land-use flush in the process of rapid urbanization from the dimensions of land-use landscape conflict and land-use function conflict. The results of this study point out that land-use conflicts in the region have gone through a developmental course of intensification of heavy conflicts, slowing down, and then smoothing out. The exacerbation of land-use conflicts is synchronized with the time pattern of construction and development in the accelerated industrialization and urbanization of Hebei, while the activities of arable land occupation and compensation balance and land ecological management produce lagging land-use conflicts. The spatial pattern is characterized by dispersed and random conflicts in the plains, concentrated conflicts in the mountain stream zones, and stable conflicts in the ecological zones within the mountains in the mountainous areas. The role of externalities and internalities from within the region and in the coordinated development of the region has led to the coexistence of developmental and governance land-use conflicts in Hebei Province, and the geographic environment has a constraining effect on the spatial differentiation of these conflicts. Along with the strong implementation of China's eco-governance and use-control systems, developmental land-use conflicts from the region will be effectively curbed, but the risk of overlapping developmental conflicts and lagging governance conflicts from coordinated regional development is a key focus for conflict prevention in the future. Currently, ozone pollution is one of the key environmental concerns, and to provide more effective strategies for ozone control, this paper proposes the use of the Geostationary Environmental Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) in conjunction with MAX-DOAS for observations and ozone sensitivity analysis. Compared to traditional polar-orbiting satellites, GEMS, launched by South Korea in 2019, offers superior spatiotemporal resolution. However, there is a lack of ground validation for GEMS data related to ozone and its precursors. In this study, we conducted validation in the Jing-Jin-Ji (Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei) region using two typical MAX-DOAS sites and the China National Environmental Monitoring Center (CNEMC) sites, confirming the accuracy of GEMS data. Analysis of the seasonal horizontal distribution results from GEMS and vertical distribution results from MAX-DOAS in 2022 reveals that the concentrations of NO 2 , HCHO, O 3 , and ozone sensitivity not only display seasonality and regional variations but also exhibit distinct characteristics at different altitudes and times, influenced by local climatic conditions, human activities, and topography. When formulating ozone control policies, it becomes imperative to consider factors such as time, regional characteristics, and seasonality. Comparisons between daily results from TROPOMI and GEMS indicate that polar-orbiting satellites may overlook high-pollution periods within a single day, and their measurements may not provide a comprehensive representation of an entire day's data. Consequently, relying solely on polar-orbiting satellite data for shaping ozone prevention and control policies may inadvertently encourage ozone formation during specific time periods, rendering these policies ineffective. Therefore, leveraging GEMS is essential for the development of comprehensive, around-the-clock ozone control policies. [Display omitted] • Fluid overpressure plays a key important role in the formation of skarn iron deposit. Skarn iron deposits are important resources for iron-rich ores and their genesis has been a topic of debate. The Nanminghe iron deposit is a typical skarn iron deposit in Wu'an, Hebei Province, China which provides a good example to investigate the metallogenic mechanism. In this paper, we present a detailed study of the geology, petrography, and geochemical characteristics of magnetite in the Nanminghe iron deposit. Two types of magnetite can be identified in the massive ores: Mag1 is euhedral with radial cracks developed in the margin. It is a low-Si magnetite, with SiO 2 content ranging from 0.07% to 0.92%, with an average value of 0.49%. The SiO 2 content of Mag2 is from 0.90% to 3.29%, and an average value of 2.03%. The Mag2 is associated with quartz, goethite, and apatite. Geochemical characteristics of Mag1, together with the ore textures suggest its crystallization from an iron magma. There are significant differences in the geochemical characteristics between Mag1 and Mag2. Mag2 is rich in Nb, Ta, high field strength elements, large ion lithophile elements and has higher silica content. The Nb/Ta of Mag2 is higher than that of the original mantle. These characteristics as well as La/Ta vs Th/La, Th/U vs Sm/Nd and Nb/Ta vs Nb features show that Mag2 is formed in the environment of supercritical fluids. The δ56Fe of Mag1 is 0.157‰-0.172‰, with an average value of 0.166‰, and the δ56Fe of Mag2 is 0.119‰-0.160‰, with an average value of 0.139‰. The Fe isotope of Mag2 is lighter than Mag1. There is a negative correlation between δ56Fe and SiO 2 of Mag1 and Mag2, suggesting that the lighter δ56Fe of Mag2 was caused by injection of Si-rich fluids. We propose a genetic model where we envisage that the iron-rich melt formed in the deep magma chamber by reaction of dioritic rocks and carbonates. Mag1 formed by cooling of the iron-rich magma, following which Si-rich supercritical fluid were injected into the deep chamber resulting in fluid overpressure. The iron-bearing melt-fluid migrated upward along the magmatic conduit, when Mag2 formed. Our study provides insights into the formation mechanism of skarn iron deposits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Given the increasing stress levels among medical students due to the impact of COVID-19, it is crucial to effectively reduce their stress levels for their future development. To better understand medical students' stress coping, this study investigated how their emotional intelligence is related to stress coping and whether this relationship is moderated by gender differences. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. A random sample of 744 medical students from Hebei Province, China, was investigated via an emotional intelligence scale and stress coping questionnaire from March–May 2023. The response rate was 93%. SPSS and Mplus statistical software were used for the data analysis. Results: The self-emotional appraisal of medical students had a significant negative effect on avoidant coping (β = -0.173, CI 95% = [-0.243, -0.099], p <.001). However, the other dimensions of emotional intelligence (others' emotional appraisal, use of emotion, and regulation of emotion) had a significant positive impact on the active coping of female medical students (β = 0.146, CI 95% = [0.082,0.214], p <.001; β = 0.235, CI 95% = [0.167,0.304], p <.001; β = 0.165, CI 95% = [0.084,0.247], p <.001). In contrast to those of female medical students, other dimensions of emotional intelligence had a significant positive impact on the avoidant coping of male medical students (β = -0.161, CI 95% = [-0.284, -0.062]; p < 0.01; β = 0.126, CI 95% = [0.043,0.246], p < 0.001; β = 0.159, CI 95% = [0.054,0.277], p < 0.05; β = -0.221, CI 95% = [-0.363, -0.129], p < 0.001). Moreover, the use of emotion had a significant positive impact on the active coping of male medical students (β = 0.272, CI 95% = [0.182,0.382], p <.001). Furthermore, gender differences had a moderating effect on the relationship between emotional intelligence dimensions and stress coping (β = 0.178; CI 95% = [0.068,0.292]; p < 0.05). Others' emotional appraisal has a greater impact on female students' active coping. The rational use of cultivated land can guarantee food security and thus is highly important for ensuring social stability, economic development and national security. The current study investigated the multifunctional temporal and spatial variation characteristics of cultivated land and explored the spatial and temporal characteristics of the multifunction and coupling coordination degrees of cultivated land throughout Hebei Province. Based on the administrative division data, statistical yearbook data and land use status data of the impacted areas, a multifunctional evaluation index system of cultivated land was established. The CRITIC weight method and entropy weight method were used to determine the weight of the index, the comprehensive index model was used to determine the production, social security, ecology and landscape functions of cultivated land of Hebei Province in different periods, the coupling coordination model was used to explore the multifunctional coupling coordination degree of cultivated land in each county, and spatial autocorrelation analysis was performed to determine the correlation of the multifunctional coupling coordination degrees. From 2000 to 2020, the production, social security and landscape function of cultivated land in Hebei Province trended upward; the ecological function trended slightly downward. The multifunctional coupling coordination degree of cultivated land in Hebei Province trended significantly upward and changed from limited coordination to intermediate coordination. Furthermore, it exhibited strong agglomeration and a significant positive spatial correlation, forming a 'V'-type change rule of first decreasing and then increasing. Hebei Province exhibited remarkable spatial and temporal characteristics of the multifunction and coupling coordination degrees of cultivated land. Regions could thus customize different cultivated land functions to maximize the benefits of cultivated land use. The findings of this study may provide a scientific basis and theoretical support for sustainably using and managing cultivated land resources in areas with similar human geographical environments. Driven by economic expansion, urbanization, and population growth, the world is witnessing an escalating demand for water, energy, land, and food, posing substantial threats to the sustainable development of societies and economies. Given the intricate interdependencies inherent within the water–energy–land–food (WELF) system, it is imperative to conduct comprehensive assessments of the coupling coordination and sustainable development of the WELF system over long time scales and diverse characteristic dimensions. This study selects Hebei province, China, as the research region, constructing a comprehensive indicator system spanning from 1980 to 2020 using three dimensions: reliability (Rel), robustness (Rob), and equilibrium (Equ). The degree of coupling coordination (DCC) and sustainable development index (SDI) were developed using the comprehensive evaluation index and coupling coordination degree model. Additionally, the obstacle degree model and gray relational degree model were employed to assess the indicators that hinder or promote the SDI. The results indicate that: (1) The DCC (range of 0–1, bigger the better) of the WELF system increased from 0.65 to 0.75 between 1980 and 1998, then fluctuated between 0.75 and 0.69, stabilizing at a moderate level of coordinated development after 2015. (2) For the WELF system in Hebei, as Rel increased, Rob decreased, and Equ increased; similarly, as Rob increased, Equ also increased. (3) The SDI (range of 0–1, bigger the better) rose from 0.45 in 1980, initially increased, then decreased, and eventually stabilized. After 2014, it experienced rapid growth, reaching 0.54 by 2020, indicating an improvement in sustainable development capability. (4) Indicators related to the Equ dimension and the land subsystem were more critical limiting factors for SDI development, while indicators related to the Rel dimension and the food subsystem were more significant contributors to SDI development. These findings offer a scientific foundation and practical insights for Hebei and comparable regions, aiding in the resolution of resource conflicts, optimization of resource allocation, and enhancement of regional sustainable development. The use of Internet data to carry out geographic study has become an academic hotspot in recent years. We referred to the "Zhongke Beauty Index" and crawled 530 thousand POIs (POI: Point of interest) to carry out regional construction evaluation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The results showed that: (1) Geographic big data provided detailed information for fine-grained regional research, and the POI evolution tree model revealed the shortcomings of regional development. (2) The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei comprehensive beauty index in 2019 was 0.21, and Beijing and Tianjin are far ahead of Hebei in terms of ecology and culture. Specifically, the POI types of eco-environment construction of research area were single; the industrial development construction presented a trend of multi-center gathering; the social harmony construction has formed a gathering circle in Beijing; the eastern and central regions were the dominant regions in terms of institutional improvement construction; and the cultural inheritance construction was the shortest board in research area. (3) The evaluation ranking was sensitive to the population and the size of the area in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. When evaluating, the uncertainty caused by the characteristics of indicators and POIs should be fully considered. The northern margin of the North China Craton is one of the most important porphyry-skarn molybdenum ore belts in the world. The eastern Hebei Province, which contains a high number of molybdenum and gold (molybdenum) resources, is an important portion of the northern margin of the North China Craton. Xichanggou and Huashi, located in eastern Hebei, are quartz-molybdenum vein deposits that are intimately associated with intrusions that are deeply concealed in the mining area. This work presents two zircon U-Pb dates and ten molybdenite Re-Os ages from samples of the aforementioned two deposits in order to determine the timing of the intrusion and mineralization. The zircon U-Pb ages of the quartz monzonite porphyry from Xichanggou are determined to be 163.3 ± 0.3 Ma and 162.8 ± 0.4 Ma. The molybdenite Re-Os dating yielded ages of 160.3 ± 4.6 Ma for Xichanggou and 171.4 ± 19 Ma for Huashi, respectively. The isotopic composition of oxygen and hydrogen of the ore-forming fluid from Huashi, as indicated by the δDV-SMOW values (−80.0‰ to −67.6‰) and δ18OH2O values (−1.86‰ to 2.33‰), suggests that the fluid is primarily composed of water derived from magma, with some contribution from atmospheric precipitation. The sulfur isotope values (δ34S) of sulfides from Xichanggou range from 6.5‰ to 7.1‰, while the δ34S values from Huashi range from 3.3‰ to 4.9‰. The lead isotope ratios (206Pb/204Pb and 207Pb/204Pb) of sulfides from Xichanggou and Huashi average at 17.414, 15.428, and 17.591, 15.379, respectively. The Re-Os isotopic compositions of ore sulfides mostly fall within the range of 318 ppm to 50,114 ppm. These isotopic compositions indicate that the materials responsible for the formation of the ores in Xichanggou and Huashi primarily originate from the melting of lower crust materials that have been contaminated by the mantle. Based on the regional data, the molybdenum deposits in eastern Hebei were formed in multiple periods, specifically approximately 170 Ma and 160 Ma in Huahsi and Xichanggou, respectively. The subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate during the middle–late Jurassic period led to the partial remelting of lower crust material, resulting in the acquisition of a significant quantity of metal elements (Mo), which were subsequently deposited. Haze is a pollution phenomenon that has become increasingly frequent in recent years, primarily composed of SO2, NOx, and particulate matter. Since the “PM2.5 Crisis” in 2013, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has been plagued by haze. After a series of high-intensity management activities, the air quality in Beijing has continued to improve. To investigate the effectiveness of the haze control measures in Beijing, a dynamic management model was constructed using the system dynamics approach and implemented using Stella software. The model is simulated and evaluated the contribution to different governance strategies (increasing investment in science and technology innovation, reducing motor vehicle ownership, reducing coal consumption, and a combination policy) to reduce haze in Beijing from 2010 to 2025. The validity and robustness of the model were verified through model testing and validation. The simulation results showed that: (1) the combination policy has the most significant effect on reducing energy consumption and pollution emissions, which would reduce energy consumption by 38.93 million tons and pollution emissions by 128.33 thousand tons in 2025, (2) among the single treatment measures, reducing industrial coal consumption is the most effective measure to reducing haze, (3) it is necessary to strengthen the joint prevention and control of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in the future to promote the sustainable development of the regional environment. China, the world's largest carbon emitter, has one of the most stringent provincial emissions reduction programs, incorporated into its Five-Year National Plan to reduce carbon emissions. However, the widening energy intensity gap between provinces poses a great challenge for carbon reduction. In this study, we analyze the convergence of Energy intensity (EIC), i.e., the time-dependent decrease of differences among regional energy intensity over time focusing on a data set of 30 Chinese provinces from 2000 to 2015. Our goal is to identify the provinces that are responsible for the observed divergence in energy intensity and identify the factors causing that divergence in each individual case. The Theil index is used to capture inter-provincial energy inequality. We use the LMDI decomposition analysis to identify the drivers of energy inequality (energy consumption structure, energy efficiency, and industrial structure). The results suggest that reducing energy intensity in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Hebei is the key to solving China's increasing energy intensity "gap" dilemma. The factors causing the energy intensity divergence in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang are related to lagging economic growth and low energy efficiency, which impedes carbon emission reductions significantly. The factors causing the divergence of energy intensity in Hebei are rooted in its heavy industrial structure. Objective: Defining whether a suspected case was due to scrub typhus through laboratory testing, to understand the prevalence of scrub typhus in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. Methods: An epidemiological investigation was conducted on the suspected case, utilizing Weil-Felix test and indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) to detect specific antibodies against O. tsutsugamushi in serum specimens. Additionally, PCR amplification of the 56-kDa and groEL genes was performed, followed by constructing a phylogenetic tree to identify the genotype. Results: The acute phase titer of the Weil-Felix test for the case was 1:160, which increased to 1:320 in the recovery phase. IFA assay revealed IgG titers against O. tsutsugamushi of 1:64 in the acute phase and 1:256 in the recovery phase. Sequence alignment of the PCR amplified fragment showed the highest similarity with the O. tsutsugamushi genotype. Kawasaki sequence, ranging from 99.71 to 100.00%. The strain exhibited the closest genetic relationship with the known O. tsutsugamushi Kawasaki genotype. Conclusion: This study confirms the presence of O. tsutsugamushi in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, with the identified strain belonging to the Kawasaki genotype, marking the first diagnosis of this strain in the region. The coordination and balance between agricultural development (AD) and agricultural carbon emissions (ACE) is one of the most important ways to boost the high-quality development of agriculture in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Taking 13 prefecture-level cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region as the research object, this study uses the comprehensive evaluation method and Tapio decoupling model to analyze the decoupling effect between the AD level and the Agricultural Carbon emissions intensity (ACEI) from 2000 to 2020, based on the assessment of AD status and the calculation of Agricultural Carbon emissions quantities (ACEQ) and ACEI. It found that: (1) From 2000 to 2020, the AD in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region generally showcased a gradual increase trend, and demonstrated a basic feature that AD in the northern areas was higher than that in the southern ones. (2) From 2000 to 2020, the ACEQ in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing, with a spatial distribution feature that the ACEQ in the southern cities was higher than that in the northern ones. Regarding the source of ACE, the livestock and poultry farming took the highest proportion. ACEI was decreasing year by year, higher in the southern areas than in the northern ones. (3) The main types of decoupling in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region were strong decoupling, recession decoupling, strong negative decoupling, weak negative decoupling, recession coupling, and expansion negative coupling. The decoupling relationship between AD and ACEI were in dynamic change, but the change trend of the decoupling relationship was optimistic. [Objective] The maximum operating pressure for underground gas storage facilities designed for oil and gas reservoirs, both constructed and under construction in China, is currently set at the original formation pressure. There have yet to be successful cases of overpressure operation, which significantly impacts the economic benefits of converting depleted oil and gas reservoirs into underground gas storage facilities. This article aims to evaluate the maximum operating pressure and storage capacity of the Nanpu 1-29 gas storage facility from the perspective of the ultimate bearing capacity of cap layers and faults, with the goal of effectively enhancing the construction benefits of the facility. [Methods] The evaluation of the maximum operating pressure for the Nanpu 1-29 gas storage facility in eastern Hebei is based on the minimum principal stress measured in situ in the mining wells. Different effective porosity calculation methods are employed to quantitatively evaluate the effective storage capacity of gas and oil reservoirs, as well as the incremental capacity after pressure boosting operation, based on their development differences. [Results] The evaluation of the maximum operating pressure for the Nanpu 1-29 gas storage facility indicates that the minimum principal stress of the cap layers determined by the in-situ measurements in the mining wells is 34.00 MPa. Based on the tensile failure criteria determined by the minimum principal stress, the maximum operating pressure for the tensile failure of the cap layer is 27.20 MPa. Combined with the maximum safe injection pressure corresponding to shear failure of the cap layer (30.60 MPa) and the maximum safe injection pressure corresponding to unstable slip of the fault (27.60 MPa), the final maximum operating pressure for the Nanpu 1-29 gas storage facility is determined to be 27.20 MPa. Based on the effective storage capacity calculation model, considering factors such as the water content of the gas reservoir, residual water and edge porosity as well as the coefficient of influence, the efficiency of gas-driven fluid, and the utilization rate of oil-containing space, the maximum operating pressure increased from the original formation pressure of 22.50 MPa to 27.20 MPa. The practical storage capacity of the gas storage facility increased from 15.46x108 m³ to 18.14x108 m³, an increase of approximately 17.3%. [Conclusion] (1) The construction of gas storage facilities can be re-evaluated for the maximum operating pressure based on the minimum principal stress measured in situ in the mining wells, and overpressure design can be conducted under appropriate conditions. (2) Overpressure design can effectively increase storage capacity and improve the economic benefits of reservoir construction. [Significance] The research results have a certain reference value for the quantitative evaluation of the maximum operating pressure and storage capacity of other underground gas storage facilities, and are expected to significantly improve the economic benefits of overpressure-designed reservoir-type gas storage facilities in China. Amid the current global trend toward urbanization, there is a growing need for an improved quality of life. While rural public spaces are essential components of community life, their design and planning have traditionally focused on material aspects, neglecting the spiritual well-being of rural residents. This study uses the public spaces of Huixingtou Village in Handan City, Hebei Province, China, as an example to investigate the impact of five key elements within rural public spaces (architecture, streets, greenery, nodes, and landmarks) on individual emotions and perceptions, exploring how these elements contribute to the satisfaction of individuals' spiritual lives. Initially, we compared the disparities among these elements concerning perceptual dimensions (functionality, technology, and aesthetics) and emotional dimensions (sense of achievement, safety, and well-being). This analysis revealed significant variations in emotional and perceptual dimensions influenced by different rural public space elements. Subsequently, we examined the associations between these elements and objective physiological response data from participants, using eye-tracking technology to delve into the interplay between emotions and perceptions. The results indicate that distinct rural public space elements elicit specific emotional responses, with visual elements and features exerting a pronounced influence on emotional reactions. This in-depth analysis provides comprehensive recommendations for emotional design strategies. Ultimately, this study furnishes emotionally driven design strategies for rural public spaces based on objective data, offering practical guidance for sustainable development and the enhancement of rural public space quality. This research investigates the suitability of PRISMA and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery for retrieving topsoil properties such as Organic Matter (OM), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), and pH in croplands using different Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and signal pre-treatments. Ninety-five soil samples were collected in Quzhou County, Northeast China. Satellite images captured soil reflectance data when bare soil was visible. For PRISMA data, a Linear Mixture Model (LMM) was used to separate soil and Photosynthetic Vegetation (PV) endmembers, excluding Non-Photosynthetic Vegetation (NPV) using Band Depth values at the 2100 nm absorption peak of cellulose. Sentinel-2 bare soil reflectance spectra were obtained using thresholds based on NDVI and NBR2 indices. Results showed PRISMA data provided slightly better accuracy in retrieving topsoil nutrients than Sentinel-2. While no optimal predictive algorithm was best, absorbance data proved more effective than reflectance. PRISMA results demonstrated potential for predicting soil nutrients in real scenarios. Dynamic predictions of surface subsidence are crucial for assessing ground damage and protecting surface buildings. Based on Small Baseline Subset Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SBAS-InSAR) technology, a method for making dynamic predictions of large-scale surface subsidence in mining areas can be established; however, the problem of phase coherence loss in InSAR data makes it impossible to predict the complete dynamic subsidence basin. In this study, a method combining the WeiBull time function and the improved probabilistic integral method (IPIM) model was established based on the PIM model, and a method for predicting the dynamic subsidence basin in the mining area was proposed by integrating the IPIM and the combined WeiBull time function. Time-series subsidence data, obtained using SBAS-InSAR, were used as fitting data, and the parameters of the combined WeiBull function were inverted, pixel by pixel, to predict the dynamic subsidence of the working face in the study area. Based on the predicted surface subsidence results of a certain moment in the working face, the parameters of the IPIM model were inverted to predict the subsidence value in the incoherent region. The subsidence predictions of the combined WeiBull time function and the IPIM model were fused using inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation to restore the complete subsidence basin in the mining area. This method was tested at the Wannian Mine in Hebei, and the obtained complete subsidence basin was compared with the measured data, with an absolute error range of 0 to 10 mm. The results show that the dynamic subsidence basin prediction method for the SBAS-InSAR mining area, involving the combination of the IPIM model and the combined WeiBull model, can not only accurately fit the time series of surface observation points affected by mining but also accurately restore the subsidence data in the incoherent region to obtain complete subsidence basin information in the mining area. Modeling forest structure using multi-source satellite data is beneficial to understanding the relationship between vertical and horizontal structure and image features to provide more comprehensive and abundant information for the study of forest structural complexity. This study investigates and models forest structure as a multivariate structure based on sample data and active-passive remote sensing data (Landsat8, Sentinel-2A, and ALOS-2 PALSAR) from the Saihanba Forest in Hebei Province, Northern China, to measure forest structural complexity, relying on a relationship-driven model between field and satellite data. In this study, we considered the effects of the role of satellite variables in different vertical structure types and horizontal structure ranges, used two methods to stepwise select significant variables (stepwise forward selection and Pearson correlation coefficient), and employed a multivariate modeling technique (redundancy analysis) to derive a forest composite structure index (FSI), combining both horizontal and vertical structure attributes. The results show that optical texture can better represent forest structure characteristics, polarization interferometric radar information can represent the vertical structure information of forests, and combining the two can represent 77% of the variance of multiple forest structural attributes. The new FSI can explain 93% of the relationship between stand structure and satellite variables, and the linear fit R2 to the measured data reaches 0.91, which largely shows the situation of the measured data. The generated forest structure map more accurately reflects the complexity of the forest structure in the Saihanba Forest, achieving a supplementary explanation of the measured data. Considering the essential expansion of agricultural production, current research primarily focuses on static factors, such as the distribution of fine-grained arable land, omitting an in-depth analysis of its developmental dynamics and key drivers. Addressing this knowledge gap is crucial for enhancing the scalability of agricultural production. This research utilizes landscape ecology techniques, correlation analysis, random forest algorithms, and structural equation modeling to explore spatial pattern trends of arable land in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region. Its objective is to clarify how the expansion of agricultural production scale affects food production through changes in arable land patterns and to determine the impact of socio-economic factors on these configurations. The results show that: (1) the landscape pattern of arable land is transitioning to a more fragmented arrangement with complex contours, (2) grain yield per unit area correlates positively with the landscape pattern index in Beijing, negatively in Hebei, and exhibits no significant correlation in Tianjin, and (3) land ownership plays a crucial role in land fragmentation, alterations in land morphology, and influences other socio-economic variables. Analyzing the spatial pattern of arable land in conjunction with socio-economic factors is essential for developing holistic land management approaches, improving resource efficiency, minimizing external inputs, and mitigating food security challenges. As a politically and culturally important city cluster, the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region (BTH) has huge electricity and water consumption, while the local power generation capacity and water resources may not be sustainable long term according to the current power generation ratio. We introduced up-to-date strategic policies in China, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality (dual carbon goals), to assess their impact on environmental protection and economic development. Thus, we constructed a dynamic multi-regional computable general equilibrium model to simulate these changes in BTH. We designed four carbon reduction scenarios to explore the impact of policies including carbon taxes, investment, and renewable energy subsidies individually or combined. The findings reveal that implementing these policies together can increase the proportion of renewable energy in power generation to 17.2% (Beijing), 9.4% (Tianjin), and 33.2% (Hebei) by 2060. Under various policy scenarios, the Tax Scenario shows the largest water withdrawal savings, while the Investment Scenario shows the largest GDP growth by 2060. The combined implementation of these policies may minimize the negative impact on the economy while developing an environmentally friendly region. The results of the Combination Scenario are closest to carbon neutrality, narrowing the gap to 10.71%, 9.98%, and 9.85%, respectively. Conservation (water and electricity) and carbon reduction can provide significant support for carbon neutrality and sustainable development strategies. The application of ecological techniques by farmers is important for ensuring the environmentally sustainable advancement of the grain sector. Based on micro-level survey data from 921 Chinese wheat growers in the Hebei and Henan provinces, this study employed an endogenous switching probit model and counterfactual analysis to investigate the impact and mechanisms of digital information utilization on ecological production technology adoption. The results indicated that 43.87% of sample wheat farmers had a low level of adoption of ecological techniques. The utilization of digital information significantly promoted farmers' adoption. If farmers who currently used digital information were to opt-out, the probability of their high adoption would decrease by 11.26%. The utilization of digital information significantly enhanced the adoption of ecological technologies through three mediating factors: technological cognition, production monitoring, and market channels. Therefore, it is imperative to encourage farmers to broaden their social networks and enhance their perception of the importance of digital information. Additionally, it is essential to promote the industrialization and scale operation of wheat production, direct policy subsidies towards new types of management entities, and ensure the accuracy of the supply of digital information for green production through multiple channels. Therefore, it is imperative to expand farmers' social networks and leverage rural communities to increase their perceived importance of digital information. Governments should increase subsidies and promote the scale and industrialization of wheat production. The world is confronted with increasing droughts exacerbated by the inefficiency of irrigation, and water-saving irrigation (WSI) holds the potential to alleviate this dilemma. Since individual farmers are important participants in WSI, it is imperative to account for their decision preferences. In addition, previous research did not consider the decision reverse in the intertemporal choice of WSI construction. Recognizing the presence of bounded rationality, particularly in terms of time preference inconsistency, a hyperbolic discounting model is constructed. The implicit subsidy, explicit subsidy, and improved explicit subsidy scenarios are simulated to analyze the decision process of individual farmers in WSI construction. The proposed methods are applied to discuss the construction of WSI within the Taocheng District, Hebei Province. The results show that: (1) The participation and stability of individual WSI construction demonstrated an increase in both the explicit subsidy and improved explicit subsidy. (2) Compared with the implicit subsidy, there was a 29.6% decrease in the number of participants who chose not to engage in WSI construction at different intertemporal choice points in the explicit subsidy scenario, and the inconsistency of choice in different intertemporal choice points decreased from 70.4% to 31.4%. (3) In the improved explicit subsidy scenario, the inconsistency of choice in different intertemporal choice points will be further reduced to 22.5%. The prediction of the agricultural water resources carrying capacity (AWRCC) is important for evaluating the ecological security of water resources and ensure healthy and sustainable socio-economic development. However, the AWRCC is influenced by many important factors such as water resources volume, socio-economic structure and technology level. The existing prediction methods were mainly based on the policies and economic activities under predefined scenarios. It is difficult to fully reflect the future AWRCC and generate regulation schemes based on AWRCC target requirements. The paper proposed a stochastic simulation method to simulate the evaluation indicators, which were selected based on principal component analysis (PCA) and iterative strategy, and structured a support vector machine model to solve the problem of complicated calculations to realize the probability distribution prediction of the AWRCC. Furthermore, the important indicators affecting the improvement of the AWRCC were explored, and finally a regulation schemes that met the AWRCC target were generated. The results of the calculations for Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, indicated that there is a 97.5% probability that the AWRCC evaluation value will be Level III in 2025 and there is a 2.5% probability that it will be Level II. The probabilities of achieving close to saturated, transition, and close to weakly carriable states for the corresponding Level III are 27.5%, 61%, and 9%, respectively, and the root mean square error of the prediction is 0.0057. In addition, by adjusting the important indicators, the probability of the AWRCC reaching Level IV is 72.5%, and AWRCC improves from Level III to Level IV. Background: Hundreds of millions of tons coal fly ash are produced annually to support economic development and industrial production. However, directly applying coal fly ash to agricultural production can decrease the land productivity and pose a threat to the ecosystem due to the poor physicochemical properties and seriously heavy metal pollution. Methods: In this study, a field experiment to investigate the effects of coal fly ash as a soil amendment was conducted in Hebei province, China. The coal fly ash (CFA) soil field was mixed with the carrier soil (CS, without containing coal fly ash) at different rates (0–40% mass content) in the 0–20 cm layer of top soil and then mixed with a rotovator. The soil was then amended with 0.45–1.80 kg·m− 2 of G1 soil amendment for planting corn. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the response mechanism of soil microbial community activities, and soil physicochemical properties to soil amendment and carrier soil in coal fly ash soil. Key results: The study found that the G1 amendment, which consisted of humic acid, polyacrylamide, zeolite powder, and FeSO4·7H2O, improved the soil chemical properties and physical structure by increasing soil bulk density and macroaggregates. The highest corn yield was observed in B5 (20% CS and 1.3500 kg·m− 2 G1). Meanwhile, the abundance of microorganisms that facilitate the circulation of soil nutrients such as Acidobacteria (77.05%), Sphingomonas (25.60%), Nitrospira (20.78%), Streptomyces (11.32%), and Gaiella (10.20%) was increased. Conclusions: Overall, our results indicate that the use of coal fly ash soil as a amendment can enhance soil sustainability by improving soil microbial functions. The transformation and reconstruction of China's food system not only faces many risks, such as the unceasing growth of food consumption on the demand side and the structural imbalance of dietary nutrition, but also must address serious challenges, such as constraints of resources, environment, and production capacity on the supply side. The optimal allocation of land use structure is an important method to realizing a transformation of sustainable food systems, achieving the goal of nutrition security, and guiding coordinated spatial development. This study takes the Beijing--Tianjin--Hebei region as an example, analyzing the development trends of the region's dietary nutrition structure clarifies the objectives for improving dietary nutrition. This study uses comprehensive optimization model and dynamic land system model, exploring land use optimization schemes under different nutritional goals and development scenarios. The result show that the dietary structure in the Beijing--Tianjin--Hebei region is transitioning from "food based" to "intake balance" and gradually evolved to "intake diversity," with the main objectives being to maintain stable calorie intake while moderately increasing protein intake and reducing fat intake. Achieving this goal will gradually increase demand for cultivated land and intensify spatial competition for land use. However, by optimizing land use allocation, it is possible to free up more spatial resources to balance economic development and ecological protection and reduce land use fragmentation, thereby significantly enhancing regional economic benefits and the value of ecosystem services based on improvements in dietary nutrition. Accurate and complete digital elevation models (DEMs) play an important fundamental role in geospatial analysis, supporting various engineering applications, human activities, and scientific research. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) plays an increasingly important role in DEM generation. Nonetheless, owing to its inherent characteristics, gaps often appear in regions marked by significant topographical fluctuations, necessitating an extra void-filling process. Traditional void-filling methods have operated directly on preexisting data, succeeding in relatively flat terrain. When facing mountainous regions, there will always be gross errors in elevation values. Regrettably, conventional methods have often disregarded this vital consideration. To this end, this research proposes a DEM void-filling method based on incorporating elevation outlier detection. It accounts for the detection and removal of elevation outliers, thereby mitigating the shortcomings of existing methods and ensuring robust DEM restoration in mountainous terrains. Experiments were conducted to validate the method applicability using TanDEM-X data from Sichuan, China, Hebei, China, and Oregon, America. The results underscore the superiority of the proposed method. Three traditional methods are selected for comparison. The proposed method has different degrees of improvement in filling accuracy, depending on the void status of the local terrain. Compared with the delta surface fill (DSF) method, the root mean squared error (RMSE) of the filling results has improved by 7.87% to 51.87%.
