The effects of different hot air speeds and temperatures on the drying characteristics of half-ripe rice paper were investigated by hot air convection drying experiments. The thin-layer drying experiments were carried out at three different combinations of air speeds of 1.97 m/s, 3.00 m/s, and 3.90 m/s and temperatures of 85 °C, 100 °C and 115 °C. The results show that among the 10 drying kinetic models selected, the Modified Page model is the most suitable model to describe the drying characteristics of the thin layer of half-ripe rice paper; the whole drying process exists obvious ascending, constant and descending processes; the effective moisture diffusion coefficient of half-ripe rice paper is in the range of 1.52656 × 10−9 m2/s–3.15816 × 10−9 m2/s, whose size increases with the increase of the hot wind speed and temperature. Its magnitude increases with the increase of wind speed and temperature; the drying activation energy of half-ripe rice paper is 6.55 kJ/mol calculated by Arrhenius equation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper studies the pyrolysis mechanisms of Nomex insulation paper in nitrogen and air atmospheres. The Nomex insulation paper is composed of 93% poly (m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) fibers and 7% inorganic substances based on elemental analysis. Using the thermogravimetry, it is found that the pyrolysis behaviors in nitrogen and air are similar below 770 K, with large discrepancies identified in the temperature range of 770–1073 K. The peak mass loss rate in air is 9 times higher than that in nitrogen. The kinetic analysis shows that the average activation energy (E ) in air is lower than that in nitrogen by 32% when the temperature is higher than 770 K, indicating a lower thermal stability. The PMIA fibers are found decomposing more seriously in air using SEM. Below 770 K, the functional groups of two atmospheres are mainly produced by the breakage of amide bonds and formation of aromatic nitrile. Unlike nitrogen, the organic substances in the solid residue are mostly oxidized at 1073 K in air. Consequently, the maximum productions of H2O, CO2 and CO in air are nearly 5 times higher than those of nitrogen, and the HCN generated during pyrolysis is further oxidized to NOx in air. Combining with the results of Py-GC/MS, it is inferred that the small molecules generated by the degradation of PMIA molecular chains, especially the benzene rings, will experience oxidization reactions in air atmosphere, with large amounts of H2O, CO2, CO and NOx produced. In this study, practical application for the industrial-scale hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) process is established using sustainable Cu 2 CoSnS 4 embedded in paper-working electrodes. The Cu 2 CoSnS 4 is produced using a solvent-free solid-phase approach. The effect of a wide pH range of electrolytes on working electrodes for hydrogen evolution reactions is also investigated. The Cu 2 CoSnS 4 embedded paper-working electrodes exhibit goodelectrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction with low overpotential values of 233, 310, and 261 mV vs RHE at 10 mA/cm 2 in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 ,1 M KOH, and 1 M PBS, respectively. These designed electrodes exhibit high double-layer capacitance and electrochemical surface area for a wide pH range. In acidic, alkaline and neutral environments, the catalyst-embedded paper electrodes explicit high turnover frequencies of 2.15 s−1, 2.75 s−1, and 2.11 s−1, respectively. The temperature-dependent hydrogen evolution reaction is studied to calculate the activation energy of the cathodic electrode. Utilising chrono-amperometry for about 118 h in an acidic media, which shows that electrodes have a high degree of stability. The reuse of waste papers by conversion into valuable carbon materials has received considerable attention for diverse applications such as energy storage and water purification. However, traditional methods for converting waste papers into materials with suitable properties for specific applications are often complex and ineffective, involving consecutive carbonization and activation steps. Herein, we propose a simple one-step microwave (MW)-assisted synthesis for preparing waste paper-derived porous carbons (WPCs) for energy storage and water purification. Through a 30-min synthesis, WPCs with graphitic structure and high specific surface area were successfully produced. The fabricated WPCs exhibited outstanding charge storage capability with a maximum specific capacitance of 237.7 F g−1. Additionally, the WPC demonstrates a high removal efficiency for various dyes, achieving a maximum removal efficiency of 95.0% for methylene blue. The developed one-step MW synthesis not only enables the production of porous carbon from waste paper, but also offers a viable approach to address solid waste management challenges while simultaneously yielding valuable materials. Cellulose material is a dielectric with intricate microscopic relaxation processes due to its complex structure. However, conventional models and curve fitting methods used for tracing and analyzing these processes often fail to capture crucial dielectric information. This paper aimed to extract the Distribution of Relaxation Time (DRT), the most fundamental and effective dielectric information providing the time scale and relative contribution of all microscopic relaxation processes. First, a distributed extended Debye model with infinite branches was constructed based on the microscopic nature of dielectric relaxation. Then, an implicit equation of the DRT function was established, inspired by the mathematical principles of infinite subdivision and summation. To obtain the numeral solution of the DRT function, a regularization method was proposed and validated. Finally, the approach was applied to cellulose insulating paper with varying degradation degrees. The relaxation process with a long time constant played a significant role, and variations during the degradation process were attributed to reduced activation energy. With clear physical interpretation and robust mathematical foundation, our method sheds light on the intricate dielectric relaxation processes in cellulose. This not only enhances the theoretical understanding and practical application of cellulose materials but also provides valuable insights for the analysis and application of other materials. Pyrolysis characteristics of Tetra Pak, a paperboard-polyethylene-aluminium foil, were investigated in this study with a focus on the synergistic effect between its individual components. Scanning electron microscopy analysis indicated that molten LDPE coating on cellulose surface led to suppression on mass and heat transfer and the increased activation energy of pyrolysis reaction. Samples of individual components and simulated Tetra Pak packaging were pyrolyzed in a thermogravimetric analyzer at various heating rates. Synergistic effect between cellulose and LDPE on E a and the formation of characteristic products are investigated: Kinetic analysis showed that the cellulose decomposition peak in the simulated mixture exhibited a higher E a than that of pure cellulose at each conversion rate. For LDPE, the free radicals formed from cellulose pyrolysis enhanced the degradation of plastic polymers, resulting that E a of its decomposition peak in the mixture being lower in comparison to pure LDPE, with a discrepancy of around 16–27 kJ·mol−1. The formation of characteristic products including levoglucosan, furfural, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, and alkanes from pyrolysis of cellulose and LDPE mixture with different mass ratios was further investigated in a micro-pyrolyzer. The results suggested that synergistic effects and physical barrier existed during fast pyrolysis between cellulose and LDPE. The preparation of spherical TATB is a key and challenging research focus in the field of energetic materials. In this paper, microspherical TATB was successfully prepared by the oil-in-oil emulsion method with DMSO and BMIM as solvents for the first time. The optimal process conditions for oil-in-oil emulsions were obtained, and the morphology, structure, particle size distribution, specific surface area, and thermal decomposition performance of the spherical TATB were characterized. The results showed that the optimal process conditions for emulsion stability were as follows: the ratio of continuous to discontinuous phases was 5/5, Tween-80 was used as the surfactant, and the dosage of the TATB raw material was 1%, which could form a stable emulsion. The crystal structure of the TATB samples prepared from the stable emulsion did not change, but only the morphology was changed. The prepared TATB was microspherical with a particle size distribution D50 of 17.5 μm, and the specific surface area was 1.639 m2 g−1. Compared with TATB, spherical TATB exhibited a unique nanostructure on its surface, which caused its thermal decomposition exothermic peak to advance by 8.5 °C and activation energy to decrease by 82.71 kJ mol−1. Thermal energy storage and utilization has been widely concerned due to the intermittency, renewability, and economy of renewable energy. In this paper, the potential energy function of binary Na2CO3–K2CO3 salt was first constructed using the Deep Potential GENerator (DPGEN) enhanced sampling method. Deep potential molecular dynamics simulations were performed to calculate the thermal properties and structural evolution of binary carbonates. The results show that as the temperature increases from 1073 to 1273 K, the viscosity and thermal conductivity decrease from 5.011 mPa s and 0.502 W/(m K) to 2.526 mPa s and 0.481 W/(m K), respectively. The decrease in viscosity is related to the distance and interaction between the molten salt ions. In addition, the diffusion coefficients, energy barriers, ionic radius, angular distribution function, and coordination number of molten salt were calculated and analyzed. The CO32− exhibits a stable planar triangular structure. The ionic radius of Na+ is smaller than that of K+, which makes Na+ suffer less spatial hindrance during motion and has a higher diffusion coefficient. The energy barriers that Na+ needs to overcome to escape the Coulomb force is greater than that of K+ ions, so molten salt containing Na+ may possess greater heat storage potential. We believe that the potential function constructed with DPGEN enhanced sampling strategy can provide more convincing results for predicting the thermal properties of molten salts. Exploring Earth-abundant and efficient electrocatalysts to replace Ir and Ru for the acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is essential to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen production. Here, we show that trace amounts of electronegative non-metallic element fluorine (F)-doped Co3O4 nanoneedles improve the activity and stability of Co3O4. The F-doped Co3O4 nanoneedles supported on carbon paper (F-Co3O4/CP) exhibit an overpotential of 350 mV at 10 mA cm-2 for the acidic OER. In addition, their performance remains consistent after continuous operation for 80 h. Detailed investigations reveal that introducing an anion promotes the enrichment of OH on the surface of Co3O4 and prevents acid corrosion, thereby enhancing the intrinsic OER activity and stability. Theoretical calculations further indicate that F doping can effectively improve electron transfer and optimize the energy barrier for the formation of *OOH intermediates, which significantly improves OER performance. This paper investigates the synthesis, crystal structure, thermal properties, and energetic performance of two 1D coordination polymers (CPs). The CPs, namely, [Zn(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (1) and [Cd(atrz)(DNBA)2(H2O)2]n (2), were designed and synthesized based on the nitrogen-rich ligand 4,4′-azobis-1,2,4-triazole (atrz) and 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (HDNBA) via a mixed ligand strategy using a simple and environment-friendly method. The CPs were characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques along with single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). SCXRD analysis reveals a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal ions (Zn/Cd), leading to the formation of a 1D coordination polymer while constructing a 2D structural framework through intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Both the CPs exhibit similar thermal stability but considerably differ in their heat of formation values (1 = −894.43, 2 = 1635.93 kJ mol−1). CP 2 has higher detonation velocity (7.24 km s−1) and pressure (23.67 GPa) compared to 1 (detonation velocity: 6.28 km s−1, detonation pressure: 17.57 GPa) owing to its higher heat of formation and density. Both the CPs exhibit ideal insensitivity to friction and impact stimuli, ensuring their safety during transportation and processing. The value of average activation energy obtained from isoconversion ASTM E698 for 1 and 2 was reported to be 143.8 and 168.0 kJ mol−1, respectively. This study explores the development of energetic CPs through the mixed ligand strategy based on the atrz ligand and incorporating HDNBA as the co-ligand to reduce the sensitivity while maintaining the comparable energetic performance of previously reported atrz-based complexes. • Ultrasound-assisted drying (UAD) could intensify the moisture separation in pulp drying process. • The drying time was shortened by 26 %∼42 % as a result of UAD intensification. • Drying at 55 °C and 60 W led to the minimized energy consumption with UAD. • The Page model was found to be the best for predicting the pulp drying kinetics. • No significant differences in drying rates were observed when the moisture ratio was below 0.43. Traditional pulp convective drying (CD) is time-consuming and energy-intensive. This study aimed to assess the drying performance of pulp using ultrasound-assisted drying (UAD) and compared it with CD to intensify moisture separation. UAD was found to be fast and efficient with high effective moisture diffusivity of 2.77 × 10–10 ∼ 3.20 × 10–10 m2/s, low activation energy of 20.2 kJ/mol, and short drying time of 21.0 ∼ 16.5 min. It demonstrated that applying ultrasound could promote moisture separation with 26 %∼42 % reductions in drying time and 42 %∼22 % savings in energy consumption. The constant rate period was not presented and no significant differences in drying rates were observed when the moisture ratio was below 0.43 under the investigated conditions. The kinetics modeling results indicated that the Page model was the best to predict the pulp drying kinetics for both methods. The design of efficient and cost-effective electrocatalysts with steady capability has attracted much attention in the field of water splitting in recent years. In this paper, Ni2−xCoxP/CNFs (x = 0, 0.67, 1, 1.33 and 2), where the ultrafine Ni2−xCoxP nanoparticles are encapsulated in carbon nanofibers, are synthesized using a facile electrospinning method followed by thermal treatment. The space confinement by the carbon matrix with a high length-to-diameter ratio (>1000) and excellent conductivity produces ultrafine Ni2−xCoxP with abundant active sites. Moreover, engineering of Ni2−xCoxP/CNFs can induce electronic modulation and consequently optimize the adsorption of H on the electrocatalyst surface to promote HER performance, as well as to reduce the energy barrier of the potential-limiting step. The optimal Ni2−xCoxP/CNFs exhibit superior electrocatalytic performance with low overpotentials of about 271 mV for OER and about 118.76 mV for HER at 10 mA cm−2 with excellent long-term durability in 1.0 M KOH solutions, performing as one of the best non-noble-metal electrocatalysts so far. Furthermore, the two-electrode electrolyser delivers a high efficiency and remarkable long-term durability for overall water splitting. Biological oxidation is a low-carbon technology for the treatment of As-containing gold ores, but it causes a large amount of acidic As-containing wastewater that is harmful to the environment. This paper proposed a novel, eco-friendly method to treat this wastewater. Thermodynamic analysis, H2PO2− reduction, and wastewater recycling tests were conducted. Thermodynamic analysis indicates the feasibility of the reduction of As(V)/As(III) by H2PO2− or H3PO2 to As0 under acidic conditions. Experimental results confirmed the thermodynamic prediction and showed that H2PO2− could efficiently convert the As (i.e., As(V)/As(III)) in the wastewater to high value-added As0. Under the optimal conditions, 99.61% of As precipitated out, and the obtained As0 had a high purity of 98.5%. Kinetic results showed that the reaction order of H2PO2− concentration was 0.6399, and the activation energy of the H2PO2− reduction process was 34.33 kJ/mol, which is indicative of a mixed-controlled process (20–40 kJ/mol). Wastewater recycling results showed that after recovering As, the wastewater could be reused as a bacterial culture medium. Based on the thermodynamic analysis and experimental and analytical results, hypophosphite reduction mechanisms for removing and recovering As from its acidic wastewater were proposed. This paper is devoted to the study of CMOS IC parameter degradation during reliability testing. The paper presents a review of literature data on the issue of the reliability of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits and the types of failures leading to the degradation of IC parameters. It describes the tests carried out on the reliability of controlled parameters of integrated circuit TPS54332, such as quiescent current, quiescent current in standby mode, resistance of the open key, and instability of the set output voltage in the whole range of input voltages and in the whole range of load currents. The calculated values of activation energies and acceleration coefficients for different test temperature regimes are given. As a result of the work done, sample rejection tests have been carried out on the TPS54332 IC under study. Experimental fail-safe tests were carried out, with subsequent analysis of the chip samples by the controlled parameter quiescent current. On the basis of the obtained experimental values, the values of activation energy and acceleration coefficient at different temperature regimes were calculated. The dependencies of activation energy and acceleration coefficient on temperature were plotted, which show that activation energy linearly increases with increasing temperature, while the acceleration coefficient, on the contrary, decreases. It was also found that the value of the calculated activation energy of the chip is 0.1 eV less than the standard value of the activation energy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As one of the promising room temperature nuclear radiation detection materials, the all-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 single crystal has been receiving much attention in recent years. Even though the performance of the CsPbBr3 detector is improving continuously, the disadvantages of detection instability have not been solved fundamentally, and this instability is mainly caused by ionic migration in the CsPbBr3 single crystal itself. In this paper, a reasonable ionic migration model is proposed based on an in-depth study of the current hysteresis phenomenon and ionic migration mechanism in the Ti/CsPbBr3/Ti detector. The model shows that the ions migrate to the anode or cathode under an external electric field, and the accumulated ions subsequently form an inverted internal electric field inside the crystal and carrier transport barriers at the metal–semiconductor interface simultaneously. The photoelectric characteristic and ionic migration activation energy (E a i o n) fitting results also prove the rationality of the ionic migration model. Furthermore, the ionic migration model can also be used to explain the left-shift of the energy response peak and the decrease in the normalized charge collection efficiency in the Ti/CsPbBr3/Ti detector. This paper systematically investigates the intrinsic origin of migrated ions and the influence of ionic migration on detection stability, which will provide a potential solution to improve detection stability by suppressing ionic migration in the near future. Cells rely on the ability to sense and respond to small spatial differences in chemoattractant concentrations for survival. There is growing evidence that this is accomplished by setting the signaling system near the threshold for activation in an excitable system and using the spatial heterogeneities to alter the threshold, thereby biasing cell activity in the direction of the gradient. Here we consider a scheme by which the set point is adaptively set near the bifurcation point, but without explicit knowledge of this point. Through simulation, we show that the method would improve chemotactic efficiency of cells. This paper details the preparation of an aluminum-based organic metal complex doped with fluorine and nitrogen (2-Ml/Al–F–N). The synthesis method combines hydrothermal synthesis and calcination for modification. The catalyst was thoroughly characterized for its composition, structure, and morphology using various techniques, including XRD, FT-IR, XPS, SEM, TEM, and others. The electrochemical performance of the material was assessed using an electrochemical workstation, and gas chromatography was employed to analyze the results. DFT calculations were used to compute the material's properties and energy barrier diagram. The findings demonstrate that the catalyst exhibits a carbon nanoline morphology and showcases high catalytic activity in the CO2RR to CO. Notably, the catalyst exhibits excellent performance with a maximum current density of 14.08 mA cm−2 and a peak faradaic efficiency of 90.1% at −1.1 V vs. RHE. The active sites are predominantly located within the nanoline structure. The DFT calculations reveal that the introduction of ammonium fluoride during the synthesis process leads to the formation of a highly efficient fluorinated aluminum metal catalytic center derived from nonahydrate aluminum nitrate. This specific structure demonstrates excellent hydrogen suppression properties and effectively lowers desorption energy barriers, which enhances the CO2RR activity and promotes the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO. The oxygen-rich vacancies and crystalline/amorphous Ru doping CoCu+Ru 10 -LDH/NF were successfully synthesized using MOF as precursor and template. The combination of heteroatom doping, interface engineering, and defect engineering can significantly improve the conductivity, intrinsic activity, and active site utilization of the catalyst to achieve efficient OER performance. This design concept presented in this paper provides a new way to develop high performance OER electrocatalysts. [Display omitted] Reinforcing the development of efficient and robust electrocatalysts is pivotal in addressing the challenges associated with oxygen evolution reactions (OER) in water splitting technology. Here, an amorphous/crystalline low-ruthenium-doped bimetallic layered double hydroxide (LDH) electrocatalyst (a/c-CoCu + Ru x -LDH/NF) with massive oxygen vacancy on nickel foam was fabricated via ion-exchange and chemical etching, facilitating efficient OER. Among the various catalyst materials tested, the a/c-CoCu + Ru 10 -LDH/NF exhibits remarkable performance in the OER when employed in an alkaline electrolyte containing 1 M KOH. Achieving a minimal overpotential at 10 mA cm−2 of 214 mV, exhibiting a low Tafel slope value of 64.3 mV dec−1 and exceptional durability lasting for over 100 h. Theoretical calculations demonstrate that the electron structure and d-band center of CoCu-LDH can be effectively regulated through the utilization of a strategy possessing abundant oxygen vacancies and a Ru-doped crystalline/amorphous heterostructure. It will lead to optimized adsorption free energy of reactants and reduced energy barriers for OER. The sodium aluminosilicate (NAS) glass family is important for many different industrial applications, but glass relaxation has not yet been thoroughly studied in this system. Thermal analysis techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and modulated differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC) can provide insight into the enthalpy relaxation of glass by measuring the glass transition temperature (Tg), activation energy, and enthalpy of relaxation. MDSC is mostly used to study nonoxide and low Tg glasses, and there is much debate about whether the nonreversing heat flow analysis method is accurate. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first paper using MDSC to study these NAS compositions, and one of few papers to report MDSC on high Tg oxide glasses. We report on one set of modulation conditions that obtain a linear response using Lissajous curves, as well as comparing the activation energy calculated from DSC with the enthalpy of relaxation obtained from MDSC. Our results show that the activation energy and enthalpy of relaxation do not give the same compositional minimum in relaxation, and therefore more work is needed to investigate the validity of the nonreversing heat flow approach for high Tg oxide glasses. In this paper, the non-isothermal co-pyrolysis of walnut shell (WS), Enteromorpha clathrata (EN), and their blends (WEB) was studied using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). For all the samples, three different decomposition stages were identified by the thermogravimetric analysis. At the same temperature, the mass loss of WEB was always stable between the values of WS and EN. In addition, different heating rates resulted in different TG–DTG profiles. The interaction between WS and EN showed a gradual enhancement with temperature increase, and the most significant interaction was generated when the blending proportion of WS and EN was 7:3. The Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose (KAS), Flynn–Wall–Ozawa (FWO), and masterplots methods were used to determine the kinetic triplets. The results show that for different blending ratios, the effective activation energies of WS and EN co-pyrolysis vary from 86.21 to 247.86 kJ mol−1 when the conversion rate is 0.2–0.8. The most appropriate mechanism for the pyrolysis of 70WS30EN is g(α)=[-ln(1-α)]1/2 with kinetic parameters: apparent activation energy 86.21 kJ mol-1 and pre-exponential factor 8.99 × 1016 s−1. The paper presents the results of an investigation into the kinetics of catalytic hydrogenation of vacuum residue at temperatures of 380, 400 and 420 °C and different durations, ranging from 30 to 70 min, using a nanocatalyst containing the active metals nickel and titanium supported on chrysotile. It was found that the yield of oils from 30 to 50 wt.% and tars from 12 to 18 wt.% increased with increasing temperatures and reaction times. A slight increase in the proportion of solids in the range of 2.0 to 6.0 wt.% is explained by the activity of the nanocatalyst used. In the study of the kinetics of vacuum residue hydrogenation, using the nanocatalyst developed by the authors, we were able to achieve a low yield of solids with a short contact time as well as a high yield of low-molecular-weight compounds such as oils and tars. To determine the kinetic parameters (rate constants and activation energies), Simpson's integral method and a random search engine optimization method were used. High values of rate constants are characteristic of reactions in the formation of oils k1, tars k2 and asphaltenes k3 in the temperature range of 380–420 °C. The high values of the rate constants k1, k2 and k3 in the catalytic hydrogenation of the vacuum residue indicate the high reaction rate and activity of the nanocatalyst used. With an increase in temperature from 380 to 420 °C, the rate constant of the formation of gas products from vacuum residue and the conversion of asphaltenes into oils significantly increase, which indicates the accumulation of low-molecular-weight compounds in oils. The activation energy for reactions leading to the formation of oils, tars, asphaltenes, gas and solid products was 75.7, 124.8, 40.7, 205.4 and 57.2 kJ/mol, respectively. These data indicate that the processes of vacuum residue hydrogenation with the formation of oils and asphaltenes require the lowest energy inputs. Reducing the process temperature to increase the selectivity of the vacuum residue hydrogenation process when using the prepared nanocatalyst is recommended. The formation of oils at the initial stage plays a key role in the technology of the heavy hydrocarbon feedstock (HHF) hydrogenation process. In order to study the use of drying models in vacuum-infrared drying, an experiment was conducted to investigate the drying process of cherry pips at different temperatures of 60°C, 70°C and 80°C, drying characteristic curves were constructed and analysed using 6 types of thin layers, and effective diffusion coefficients, moisture content and activation energy were calculated. The results showed that the drying temperature has a greater influence on the drying rate of cherry pits, and the drying time decreases with increasing drying temperature. The main drying step occurs in the downward drying stage. Comparison of the fitting results of the six thin layer drying models presented in this paper showed that Wang and Singh's model fits better for cherry pips (${{\rm{R}}^2} \gt 0,9996$ R 2 > 0 , 9996) and the predicted values of the model agree well with the experimental values. The first hydrogenation of most metal hydrides is a lengthy process that usually requires high pressure and temperature. This, in turn, significantly increases the production cost of metal hydrides. In this paper, the low temperature hydride-forming LaNi5 was selected to investigate the mechanism of first hydrogenation. For the first time, the effect of particle size, temperature and pressure on the incubation time were studied. We found that the first hydrogenation of LaNi5 follows an Arrhenius process, with an activation energy of EA = 78 ± 4 kJ/mol H2. Hybrid nanofluids have caught the attention of scholars and investigators in the present technological period due to their improved thermophysical features and the desire to boost heat transfer rates compared to those of conventional fluids. The present paper is mainly concerned with heat transmission in cone-disk geometry in the presence of a magnetic field, activation energy, and non-uniform heat absorption/generation. In this work, the cone-disk (CD) apparatus is considered to have a rotating cone (RC) and a stretching disk, along with iron oxide and cobalt ferrite-based hybrid nanofluid. Appropriate similarity transformations are employed to change the physically modeled equations into ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Heat transfer rates at both surfaces are estimated by implementing a modified energy equation with non-uniform heat absorption/generation. The outcomes illustrated that the inclusion of such physical streamwise heat conduction variables in the energy equation has a significant impact on the well-known conclusions of heat transfer rates. To understand flow profile behavior, we have resorted to the RKF-45 method and the shooting method, which are illustrated using graphs. The findings provide conclusive evidence that wall stretching alters the flow, heat, and mass profile characteristics within the conical gap. The wall deformation caused by disk stretching was found to have a potential impact of modifying the centripetal/centrifugal flow characteristics of the disk, increasing the flow velocity and swirling angles. Reductive elimination is a key step in Ni-catalysed cross-couplings, which is often considered to result in new covalent bonds. Due to the weak oxidizing ability of Ni(II) species, reductive eliminations from Ni(II) centers are challenging. A thorough mechanistic understanding of this process could inspire the rational design of Ni-catalysed coupling reactions. In this article, we give an overview of recent advances in the mechanistic study of reductive elimination from Ni(II) species achieved by our group. Three possible models for reductive elimination from Ni(II) species were investigated and discussed, including direct reductive elimination, electron density-controlled reductive elimination, and oxidation-induced reductive elimination. Notably, the direct reductive elimination from Ni(II) species often requires a high activation energy in some cases. In contrast, the electron density-controlled and oxidation-induced reductive elimination pathways can significantly enhance the driving force for reductive elimination, accelerating the formation of new covalent bonds. The intricate reaction mechanisms for each of these pathways are thoroughly discussed and systematically summarized in this paper. These computational studies showcase the characteristics of three models for reductive elimination from Ni(II) species, and we hope that it will spur the development of mechanistic studies of cross-coupling reactions. The undesired ignition of ammunitions during their different stages of life can lead to hazardous situations for goods and people. To tackle these potential issues, low-vulnerability ammunitions (LOVA) have been developed. However, this loss of sensitivity can lead to ignition issues. Therefore, the study of ignition phenomena like thermal decomposition is essential. This paper is about the thermal decomposition of three LOVA gun propellants based on RDX and nitrocellulose. Decomposition is studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) between 303 and 573 K, under argon atmosphere and five heating rates (0.3, 0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 K min−1). A kinetic analysis method, considering ICTAC recommendations, is developed in this paper and applied to TG results. The latter allows to determine global kinetic parameters (pre-exponential factor, activation energy and reaction model based on the truncated Šesták-Berggren equation) to obtain a decomposition law depending on temperature and extent of conversion. Fe(III) has been proved to be a more effective oxidant than dissolved oxygen at ambient temperature, however, the role of Fe(III) in pyrite acidic pressure oxidation was rarely discussed so far. In this paper, in-situ electrochemical investigation was performed using a flow-through autoclave system in acidic pressure oxidation environment. The results illustrated that increasing Fe(III) concentrations led to raising in redox potential of the solution, and decreased passivation of pyrite caused by deposition of elemental sulfur. Reduction of Fe(III) at pyrite surface was a fast reaction with low activation energy, it was only slightly promoted by rising temperatures. While, the oxidation rate of pyrite at all investigated Fe(III) concentrations increased obviously with rising temperatures, the anodic reaction was the rate-limiting step in the overall reaction. Activation energy of pyrite oxidation decreased from 47.74 to 28.79 kJ/mol when Fe(III) concentration was increased from 0.05 to 0.50 g/L, showing that the reaction kinetics were limited by the rate of electrochemical reaction at low Fe(III) concentrations, while, it gradually turned to be diffusion control with increasing Fe(III) concentrations. Silicon has dimensional limitations in following Moore's law; thus, new 2D materials complementing Silicon are being researched. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a prospective material anticipated to bridge the gap to complement Silicon and enhance the performances of semiconductor devices and embedded systems in the package. For a synthesis process to be of any relevance to the industry. it needs to be at the wafer scale to match existing Silicon wafer-processing standards. Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) is one of the most promising techniques for synthesizing wafer-scale monolayer MoS2 due to its self-limiting, conformal, and low-temperature characteristics. This paper discusses the wafer-scale ALD synthesis of Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) using Mo (CO)6 as a precursor with Ozone as a reactant. An ALD-synthesized wafer-scale MoO3 thin film was later sulfurized through Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) to transform into stoichiometric MoS2, which was evaluated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The roles of activation energy and first-order reaction kinetics in determining the ALD recipe parameters of the pulse time, reactor temperature, and purge time are explicitly discussed in detail. An expanding sheet problem is more relevant when the thickness of the sheet is variable and it bears frequent applications in polymer press, paper production, metallic plate cooling, etc. On the other hand, activation energy is an important phenomenon of chemical reaction in flow dynamics of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. The activation energy and chemical reaction have vital applications in food preparing, the mechanism of water and oil emulsions, chemical engineering, and more. So in this project, the impacts of activation energy and binary chemical reaction on MHD two-dimensional boundary layer flow of Williamson nanofluid on an expanding surface of variable thickness embedded in Darcy–Forchheimer porous medium are investigated. Using suitable transformations, the governing equations are transformed into a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Later, numerical solutions have been achieved by well-known MATLAB inbuilt function 'bvp4c'. Several vital results are explored for variations of involved physical parameters and those are presented in graphical and tabular modes. The achieved results suggest that when wall thickness parameter increases, there is a contrast in behaviors of velocity, temperature and nanoparticle concentration if there is a condition that the shape parameter is greater than or less than unity. For the former case, the above flow properties reduce with wall thickness parameter, whereas, for the latter case, those are showing significant growth. The Brownian motion of nanoparticles causes an increase in temperature and a reduction in nanoparticle concentration, whereas due to thermophoretic force, both temperature and nanoparticle concentration rise. Due to the presence of activation energy in chemical reaction, the nanoparticle concentration enhances, while, temperature decreases(increases) near(away from) the sheet. With increasing reaction rate parameters, nanoparticle concentration diminishes, but temperature increases near the sheet. The surface drag force decreases with Williamson fluid parameter, while it increases with the magnetic parameter, inverse Darcy number, and Forchheimer parameter. On the other hand, the surface heat flux and surface mass flux are decreasing functions of Williamson fluid parameter, magnetic parameter, inverse Darcy number, and Forchheimer parameter. It also reveals that surface heat flux reduces with increasing reaction rate parameters, whereas surface mass flux increases. Finally, for the growth of activation energy parameter, initially surface heat flux rises and surface mass flux declines, but for its larger values, the quantities turn out to be constants. Direct observation of the capture cross section is challenging due to the need for extremely short filling pulses in the two-gate Deep-Level Transient Spectroscopy (DLTS). Simple estimation of the cross section can be done from DLTS and admittance spectroscopy data but it is not feasible to distinguish temperature dependence of pre-exponential and exponential parts of the emission rate equation with sufficient precision conducting a single experiment. This paper presents experimental data of deep levels in β-Ga2O3 that has been gathered by our group since 2017. Based on the gathered data, we propose a derivation of apparent activation energy (E a m) and capture cross section (σ n m) assuming the temperature dependent capture via the multiphonon emission model, which resulted in a strong correlation between E a m and σ n m according to the Meyer–Neldel rule, which allowed us to estimate low- and high-temperature capture coefficients C 0 and C 1 as well as capture barrier E b. It also has been shown that without considering the temperature dependence of capture cross section, the experimental values of σ n are overestimated by 1–3 orders of magnitude. It is significant to investigate the calcium carbonate (CaCO3) precipitation mechanism during the carbon capture process; nevertheless, CaCO3 precipitation is not clearly understood yet. Understanding the carbonation mechanism at the atomic level can contribute to the mineralization capture and utilization of carbon dioxide, as well as the development of new cementitious materials with high-performance. There are many factors, such as temperature and CO2 concentration, that can influence the carbonation reaction. In order to achieve better carbonation efficiency, the reaction conditions of carbonation should be fully verified. Therefore, based on molecular dynamics simulations, this paper investigates the atomic-scale mechanism of carbonation. We investigate the effect of carbonation factors, including temperature and concentration, on the kinetics of carbonation (polymerization rate and activation energy), the early nucleation of calcium carbonate, etc. Then, we analyze the local stresses of atoms to reveal the driving force of early stage carbonate nucleation and the reasons for the evolution of polymerization rate and activation energy. Results show that the higher the calcium concentration or temperature, the higher the polymerization rate of calcium carbonate. Solid fossil fuels still support the development of the energy and chemical industry. The clean and efficient utilization of solid fossil fuels can effectively alleviate the problems of energy shortage and environmental pollution. An in‐depth understanding of the kinetic process, models, and mechanism of pyrolysis of solid fossil fuels is also of great significance for the exploration and utilization technologies of petroleum resources. Thermogravimetric analysis is an effective method to study the pyrolysis process and kinetics with the advantages of high sensitivity, repeatability, and reliability for data acquisition. Researchers have conducted a lot of research on the thermogravimetric kinetics of solid fossil fuels in recent years, but there is a lack of systematic summary and comparison of kinetic methods, research progress, and trends. Therefore, a comprehensive study on pyrolysis kinetic principles, methods, and models of solid fossil fuels by thermogravimetric analysis is carried out in this paper. The influencing factors of pyrolysis kinetics of solid fossil fuels using thermogravimetry are elaborated and discussed in detail. This study also provides progress in recent years and prospects of thermogravimetric kinetics of solid fossil fuels. It is expected that this paper can provide certain technical support and theoretical guidance for the research on pyrolysis kinetics based on thermogravimetric analysis, and the exploration and development, clean, and efficient utilization of solid fossil fuels. This paper reports the pressureless sintering behavior and the activation energy of the powdered MAX phases Ti3SiC2 and Ti2AlC. A non-isothermal technique was used to determine the sintering kinetic parameter. The Ti3SiC2 and Ti2AlC MAX phases showed the maximum sintering rate at 1723 K, 0.14 and 0.10 µm/s, respectively. The sintering rate of the sample at different temperatures followed a cubic equation which was determined. The sintering activation energy (Ea) for the Ti3SiC2 and Ti2AlC samples was 362.1 kJ/mol and 640.3 kJ/mol, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The catalytic capabilities of metals in degrading azo dyes have garnered extensive interest; however, selecting highly efficient metals remains a significant challenge. We have developed a Zn-Ca-based metallic glass composite which shows outstanding degradation efficiency for Direct Blue 6. This alloy comprises a Zn2Ca crystalline phase and an amorphous matrix, allowing for the degradation of azo dyes within minutes in a wide temperature range of 0–60 °C. Kinetic calculations reveal an exceptionally low activation energy of 8.99 kJ/mol. The rapid degradation is attributed to the active element Ca and the unique amorphous structure of the matrix, which not only facilitates abundant redox conditions but also minimizes the hydrolysis of the active element. The newly developed metallic glass composite exhibits a notably higher azo dye degradation rate compared to those of general metallic glasses, offering a new avenue for the rapid degradation of azo dyes. The dielectric properties of synclinic (ferroelectric SmC*) and anticlinic (antiferroelectric SmCA*) smectic liquid crystals composed of molecules of one chiral version (S) are presented and compared with properties of racemic mixture (R, S), showing SmC and SmCA phases. The racemic mixture completely loses its ferroelectric and antiferroelectric properties. Surprisingly, only one dielectric mode observed in the antiferroelectric SmCA* phase disappeared in the dielectric response of the racemic SmCA phase. Additionally, we observed that in the SmC phase, seen in the racemic mixture, the weak dielectric mode (named the X mode) is detected, which seems to be the continuation of the PL mode existing in the racemic SmCA. Moreover, this mode in the racemic SmC has nothing to do with the Goldstone mode, typical for the SmC* phase. This paper describes in detail the real and imaginary parts of dielectric permittivity in smectic phases for the enantiomer and racemate with and without a DC field, compares the properties of the X and PL modes, and discusses the full scheme of dielectric modes in enantiomer and racemate. A simple, transparent, two-dimensional, nonlinear model of cell reorientation is constructed in this paper. The cells are attached to a substrate by "focal adhesions" that transmit the deformation of the substrate to the "stress fibers" in the cell. When the substrate is subjected to a deformation, say an in-plane bi-axial deformation with stretches λ 1 and λ 2 , the stress fibers deform with it and change their length and orientation. In addition, the focal adhesions can detach from the substrate and reattach to it at new nearby locations, and this process of detachment and reattachment can happen many times. In this scenario the (varying) fiber angle Θ in the reference configuration plays the role of an internal variable. In addition to the elastic energy of the stress fibers, the energy associated with the focal adhesions is accounted for by a wiggly energy ϵ a cos Θ / ϵ , 0 < ϵ ≪ 1 . Each local minimum of this energy corresponds to a particular configuration of the focal adhesions. The small amplitude ϵ a indicates that the energy barrier between two neighboring configurations is relatively small, and the small distance 2 π ϵ between the local minima indicates that a focal adhesion does not have to move very far before it reattaches. The evolution of this system is studied using a gradient flow kinetic law, which is homogenized for ϵ → 0 using results from weak convergence. The results determine (a) a region of the λ 1 , λ 2 -plane in which the (referential) fiber orientation remains stuck at the angle Θ and does not evolve, and (b) the evolution of the orientation when the stretches move out of this region as the fibers seek to minimize energy. This paper aims to study the crystallization kinetics of local bentonite taken from the Maghnia region of Algeria after conducting the toasting process to powder with different temperature degrees 200, 400, 500, 700, 800, 900, 1000°C and 1100°C. The material was examined by differential thermal analysis (DTA) at different heating rates (10–50°C/min), and X ray diffraction (XRD). We used also Infrared Spectroscopy to detect the vibrations characteristic of the chemical bonds and to analyze the molecules forming the material. Scanning electron Microscopy (SEM) has been used to investigate the bentonite microstructure revealing granules shape and distribution. We have applied Non-isothermal crystallization kinetic methods to study the mechanism of crystallization in the bentonite. After a calcinations process at 200°C and 700°C of the bentonite, X-ray diffraction data showed a decrease in the basal spacing (d001) from 12.72 Å of room temperature to about 11.98 Å and 9.93 Å respectively. We also observed the disappearance of the diffraction peaks represented by the d001 interval, which expresses the montmorillonite phase after calcination of samples at 800°C. The average activation energy has been determined by Kissinger method (221.046 kJ/mol), Ozawa method (225.557 kJ/mol) and Boswell method (229.356 kJ/mol). This paper investigates the threshold voltage shift (ΔVTH) induced by positive bias temperature instability (PBTI) in silicon carbide (SiC) power MOSFETs. By analyzing ΔVTH under various gate stress voltages (VGstress) at 150 °C, distinct mechanisms are revealed: (i) trapping in the interface and/or border pre-existing defects and (ii) the creation of oxide defects and/or trapping in spatially deeper oxide states with an activation energy of ~80 meV. Notably, the adoption of different characterization methods highlights the distinct roles of these mechanisms. Moreover, the study demonstrates consistent behavior in permanent ΔVTH degradation across VGstress levels using a power law model. Featured Application: Protect photodetectors and charged-coupled devices from malfunction and light-induced damage caused by dazzling by intense light beams. This paper develops an optical power limiter (OPL) utilizing dye-doped nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) in a twisted nematic configuration designed to protect charged-coupled devices from intense light damage. The device harnesses the intrinsic optical properties of NLCs, enhanced by dye doping, to control light transmission without external electric fields. Placed between two crossed polarizers, the NLC cell exploits both reorientational and thermal nonlinearities to reduce the activation thresholds and enhance responsiveness to fluctuating light intensities. The experiments employ a continuous-wave green laser, chosen for its peak interference in the visual field and alignment with CCD camera sensitivities, emphasizing the practical relevance of the OPL in the military and aviation sectors. The results indicate that integrating plastic polarizers and strategically adjusting thermal nonlinearity significantly lowers the operational threshold of the limiter, effectively counteracting high-intensity light exposure while allowing safe light levels. This approach offers effective CCD protection and demonstrates the potential for broad wavelength applications. This paper proposes a solution to address the challenges of high storage and transport costs associated with using hydrogen ( H 2 ) as an energy source. It suggests utilizing ammonia ( N H 3 ) as a hydrogen carrier to produce H 2 onsite for hydrogen gas turbines. N H 3 offers higher volumetric hydrogen density compared to liquid H 2 , potentially reducing shipping costs by 40%. The process involves N H 3 pyrolysis, which utilizes the heat waste from exhaust gas generated by gas turbines to produce H 2 and nitrogen ( N 2 ). Numerical simulations were conducted to design and understand the behaviour of the heat recapture N H 3 decomposition system. The design considerations included the concept of the number of transfer units and heat exchanger efficiency, achieving a heat recapture system efficiency of up to 91%. The simulation of N H 3 decomposition was performed using ANSYS, a commercial simulation software, considering wall surface reactions, turbulent flow, and chemical reaction. Parameters such as activation energy and pre-exponential factor were provided by a study utilizing a nickel wire for N H 3 decomposition experiments. The conversion of N H 3 reached up to 94% via a nickel-based catalyst within a temperature range of 823 K to 923 K which is the exhaust gas temperature range. Various factors were considered to compare the efficiency of the system, including the mass flow of N H 3 , operating gauge pressure, mass flow of exhaust gas, among others. Result showed that pressure would not affect the conversion of N H 3 at temperatures above 800 K, thus a lower amount of energy is required for a compression purpose in this approach. The conversion is maintained at 94% to 97% when lower activation energy is applied via a ruthenium-based catalyst. Overall, this study showed the feasibility of utilizing convective heat transfer from exhaust gas in hydrogen production by N H 3 pyrolysis, and this will further enhance the development of N H 3 as the potential H 2 carrier for onsite production in hydrogen power generation. Worldwide energy requirements demand the functioning and formulating of thermal mechanisms and heat exchangers for the use and resuscitation of thermal energy. As a result, new heat transport liquids subject to improved heat transport characteristics are needed to enhance convection heat transport in nanoliquids. With that objective, the present work addresses the dynamical investigation for bioconvection effects containing gyrotactic motile microorganisms of Jeffery nanofluid over a stretching sheet, influenced by a magnetic dipole with ferromagnetic particles. Ferro nanofluids are used to develop a microtransformer which is mainly used in electronic products such as note books, e-paper, and mobile phones. Moreover, activation energy and thermal radiation are taken into account. The proposed model is based on flow rate, volumetric concentration of nanoparticle, motile microorganism, and nanomaterial temperature. The technical efficiency of nanofluids is explored by the evaluation of the Buongiorno process which helps us to determine the attractiveness of thermophoretic and Brownian diffusions. An appropriate transformation is established to transform the system of nonlinear partial differential equation (PDEs) into coupled nonlinear ODEs, which are numerically solved by a bvp4c solver in MATLAB. This paper examines the pervasive barriers hindering the widespread adoption of energy efficiency measures across various sectors. It categorizes these barriers into economic barriers, high upfront costs, organizational challenges, such as technical expertise and behavioral barriers, namely risk aversion and framing. To address these barriers, a comprehensive review of energy efficiency policies is conducted. These policies include incentives, coercive instruments, award systems, university industry collaboration, and technical support. To review energy efficiency barriers and policies, a methodological approach integrating non-structured snowball sampling with targeted literature review techniques was devised. Finally, the paper underlines that the success of these policies is contingent upon the active involvement, the collaboration, and the feedback of businesses, ensuring the feasibility of these policies. Their proactive engagement is indispensable in tackling energy efficiency barriers and driving the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, thus paving the way for a more sustainable and competitive businesses. Nano-graphene lubricating oil with appropriate concentration shows excellent performance in reducing friction and wear under different working conditions of diesel engines, and has been widely concerned. Lubricating oil has a significant impact on particulate matter (PM) emissions. At present, there are few studies on the impact of nano-graphene lubricating oil on the physicochemical properties of PM. In order to comprehensively evaluate the impact of nano-graphene lubricating oil on diesel engines, this paper mainly focused on the effects of lubricating oil nano-graphene additives on the particle size distribution and physicochemical properties of PM. The results show that, compared with pure lubricating oil, the total number of nuclear PM and accumulated PM of nano-graphene lubricating oil is significantly increased. The fractal dimension of PM of nano-graphene lubricating oil increases and its structure becomes more compact. The average fringe separation distance of basic carbon particles decreases, the average fringe length increases. The degree of ordering and graphitization of basic carbon particles are higher. The fringe tortuosity of basic carbon particles decreases, and the fluctuation of carbon layer structure of basic carbon particles decreases. Aliphatic substances in PM are basically unchanged, aromatic components and oxygen functional groups increase. The initial PM oxidation temperature and burnout temperature increase, the maximum oxidation rate temperature and combustion characteristic index decrease, and the activation energy increases, making it more difficult to oxidize. This was mainly caused by the higher graphitization degree of PM of nano-graphene lubricating oil and the increased content of aromatic substances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
