Cloud computing is a dynamic and rapidly evolving field, where the demand for resources fluctuates continuously. This paper delves into the imperative need for adaptability in the allocation of resources to applications and services within cloud computing environments. The motivation stems from the pressing issue of accommodating fluctuating levels of user demand efficiently. By adhering to the proposed resource allocation method, we aim to achieve a substantial reduction in energy consumption. This reduction hinges on the precise and efficient allocation of resources to the tasks that require those most, aligning with the broader goal of sustainable and eco-friendly cloud computing systems. To enhance the resource allocation process, we introduce a novel knowledge-based optimization algorithm. In this study, we rigorously evaluate its efficacy by comparing it to existing algorithms, including the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA), Spark Lion Whale Optimization (SLWO), and Firefly Algorithm. Our findings reveal that our proposed algorithm, Knowledge Based Flower Pollination Algorithm (KBFPA), consistently outperforms these conventional methods in both resource allocation efficiency and energy consumption reduction. This paper underscores the profound significance of resource allocation in the realm of cloud computing. By addressing the critical issue of adaptability and energy efficiency, it lays the groundwork for a more sustainable future in cloud computing systems. Our contribution to the field lies in the introduction of a new resource allocation strategy, offering the potential for significantly improved efficiency and sustainability within cloud computing infrastructures. In pursuit of advancing photocatalysts for superior performance in water treatment and clean energy generation, researchers are increasingly focusing on layered double hydroxides (LDHs) which have garnered significant attention due to their customizable properties, morphologies, distinctive 2D layered structure and flexible options for modifying anions and cations. No review has previously delved specifically into ZnCr and NiCr LDH-based photocatalysts and therefore, this review highlights the recent surge in ZnCr and NiCr-based LDHs as potential photocatalysts for their applications in water purification and renewable energy generation. The structural and fundamental characteristics of layered double hydroxides and especially ZnCr-LDHs and NiCr-LDHs are outlined. Further, the various synthesis techniques for the preparation of ZnCr-LDHs, NiCr-LDHs and their composite and heterostructure materials have been briefly discussed. The applicability of ZnCr-LDH and NiCr-LDH based photocatalysts in tackling significant issues in water treatment and sustainable energy generation is the main emphasis of this review. It focuses on photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in wastewater, elucidating the principles and advancements for enhancing the efficiency of these materials. It also explores their role in H 2 production through water splitting, conversion of CO 2 into valuable fuels and NH 3 synthesis from N 2 , shedding light on their potential for clean energy solutions. The trend for healthy food and lifestyle has enabled consumers to include fruits and vegetables in their daily diet. Fruits and vegetables are vulnerable to rapid deterioration while improper management of fresh produce also adds to unfruitful disposal causing environmental pollution and economic problems resultantly. Also, the consumer refusal of chemical additives and losses of the food bioactive compounds due to thermal processing has attracted the attention of the research fraternity to look for better alternatives. Ionizing radiation treatment of fresh produce is a non-thermal approach that holds the potential to stretch the shelf-life of fruits and vegetables with numerous benefits over thermal approaches. Irradiation is a physical method of food preservation apt for microbial inactivation, shelf-life improvement, and sprout inhibition without nutritional losses and chemical residues. Ionizing radiation treatment of horticultural produce involves exposure to radiations from sources viz. X-rays, gamma-rays, electron beam. Reviewing the performances of ionizing radiation for perishable food systems, the current article has been summarized to provide an insight into the concept, application, its effects, together with a market outlook covering consumer attitude and pertaining legislations. The escalating production of mine tailings (MT), a byproduct of the mining industry, constitutes significant environmental and health hazards, thereby requiring a cost-effective and sustainable solution for its disposal or reuse. This study proposes the use of MT as the primary ingredient (≥70% mass) in binders for construction applications, thereby ensuring their efficient upcycling as well as drastic reduction of environmental impacts associated with the use of ordinary Portland cement (OPC). The early-age hydration kinetics and compressive strength of MT-based binders are evaluated with an emphasis on elucidating the influence of alkali activation parameters and the amount of slag or cement that are used as minor constituents. This study reveals correlations between cumulative heat release and compressive strengths at different ages; these correlations can be leveraged to estimate the compressive strength based on hydration kinetics. Furthermore, this study presents a random forest (RF) model—in conjunction with fast Fourier and direct cosine transformation techniques to overcome the limitations associated with limited volume and diversity of the database—to enable high-fidelity predictions of time-dependent hydration kinetics and compressive strength of MT-based binders in relation to mixture design. Overall, this study demonstrates a sustainable approach to upcycle mine tailings as the primary component in low-carbon construction binders; and presents both analytical and machine learning-based approaches for accurate a priori predictions of hydration kinetics and compressive strength of these binders.
