Background: Urinary incontinence (UI) might be linked to suicidal ideation, but we do not yet have all the relevant details. This study aimed to dig deeper into the connection between UI and suicidal ideation using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Methods: We examined 31,891 participants aged ≥ 20 years from NHANES 2005–2018 who provided complete information. We used standardized surveys to check for UI and signs of suicidal ideation. To better understand this relationship, we used statistical tools such as multivariable logistic regression, subgroup analysis, and sensitivity analyses. Results: Among the 31,891 participants, 28.9% reported UI and 10.7% reported suicidal ideation. Those with UI exhibited a significantly greater incidence of suicidal ideation (15.5%) than did those without UI (8.8%, P < 0.001). After adjusting for various factors, including age, sex, marital status, socioeconomic status, educational level, lifestyle factors, and chronic comorbidities, UI remained significantly associated with suicidal ideation (OR:1.54, 95% CI = 1.39–1.7, P < 0.001). Among all types of UI, MUI participants were more likely to experience suicidal ideation. Compared with no UI, higher odds of suicidal ideation suffered from MUI (OR:2.11, 95%CI:1.83–2.44, P < 0.001), SUI (OR:1.4, 95%CI:1.19–1.65, P < 0.001), UUI(OR:1.37,95%CI:1.16–1.62, P < 0.001) after full adjustment. With the exception of individuals living with a partner, the remaining subgroups exhibited a positive correlation between urinary incontinence and suicidal ideation, considering that factors such as age, sex, and prevalent comorbidities such as hypertension, depression, and diabetes did not reveal any statistically significant interactions (all P > 0.05). Sensitivity analyses, incorporating imputed missing covariates, did not substantially alter the results (OR: 1.53, 95% CI: 1.4–1.68, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Urinary incontinence may correlate with increased suicidal ideation risk, priority screening for suicidal ideation and timely intervention are essential for individuals with urinary incontinence, but prospective studies are needed to verify the results. Pickering emulsions are considered as promising chemical oil repellents in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). In this paper, an amphiphilic block copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(dopamine methacrylamide) (mPEG–PDMA, abbreviated as mp) containing catechol adhesion groups was synthesized. The surface modification of A200 and SBA-15 nanoparticles was carried out using the strategy of dip-coating with mp solution, and the emulsification properties of the two modified particles and their stability were comparatively investigated. The results showed that both modified particles could achieve excellent emulsification performance. The best emulsification effect was achieved when the concentration of A200-mp and SBA-15-mp particles was 2.5 mg mL−1 and the oil phase volume fraction was 0.5. The emulsions stabilized by SBA-15-mp tended to be invertible when the volume fraction of the oil phase was 0.7 or pH = 2–3 or when NaCl was added, and O/W emulsions could be inverted into W/O types. Interestingly, the emulsions stabilized by A200-mp particles showed good acid resistance, alkali resistance, high salt resistance, multiple oil phase applicability and centrifugal shear stability. In the simulated rock permeation experiments, the emulsions prepared using A200-mp particles could stably permeate in the silica sand column without an obvious chromatographic separation effect, which is promising for application in tertiary oil recovery. Researchers and authorities have become increasingly interested in how the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted the real economy and financial markets around the world since its outbreak in late 2019. Applying the methods of multifractal analysis, this paper investigates the fluctuation characteristics and market risks of Chinese industry and stock markets under the COVID-19 pandemic, and reveals the whole dynamics of industry and stock markets from the perspective of system theory. The empirical results show that the multifractal strength of the industry market has significantly increased during the pandemic with elevated systematic risk, while the situation is different for the stock market. Specifically, the Hurst surfaces generated using the multiscale technique intuitively visualize the dynamical behaviors of the systematic fluctuation of the Chinese industry and stock markets at various scales under the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, it is found that the sources of multifractality of the two types of markets include long-range correlation and fat-tailed distribution, with the contribution of fat-tailed distribution being greater. The chi-square test is promoted in this paper to measure the contribution of the internal components of the multivariate system to the multifractality sources of the whole system, revealing that the real estate industry has a greater impact on the multifractality of the whole industry system, while the Shanghai Composite Index has a stronger influence on the whole stock system. Distribution and transport of MPs carrying DOM in ice provide important theoretical support for lake pollution management in the northern cold dry zone. Due to the characteristics of low density, light weight, and strong hydrophobicity, microplastics (MPs) can adsorb dissolved organic matter (DOM) in lake water to jointly accomplish migration and transformation in the ice/water medium, which causes serious pollution to the lake during the ice period through accumulation. In this study, the distribution of Daihai Lake MPs and DOM was studied by fluorescence excited emission matrix (EEM) and micro-infrared spectroscopy, and the relationship between them was examined by two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS) and structural equation modelling (SEM) to obtain the influencing factors of pollution. The results indicate that the concentration of MPs in the surface ice layer is 1.35 times more than in the water and in the surface and bottom ice layers 1–2 times more than the middle layer. DOM in the ice cover is mainly protein-like (73.33%), and humus-like DOM (44.8%) is dominant in the water under the ice that is consistent with the distribution of MPs in the ice and water layer. As a result, MPs are more prospective to adsorb humus-like substances into the ice during migration. Through SEM analysis, it was concluded that human activities and the degree of economic development seriously affect the pollution level and the type of MPs and DOM in lakes. One of the most important factors in winter is the ice cover, and there is a strong correlation between the MPs and DOM in different ice layers. Combined with experimental data, it was concluded that the ice layer influences the distribution characteristics of the pollutants in lakes as well as the direction of migration. Previous research has found that individuals with Internet gaming disorder (IGD) show different patterns of social function impairments in game-related and real-life social contexts. Impaired social reward processing may be the underlying mechanism according to the Social Motivation Theory. Thus, in this study, event-related potentials were recorded from 24 individuals with IGD and 24 healthy gamers during a social judgement task. We focused on reward positivity (RewP) elicited by game-related and real-life social rewards, and N170 elicited by game avatar faces and real faces. These indicators were used to explore the neurocognitive mechanism of impaired social reward processing in individuals with IGD and its relationship with early face perception. Results showed that (1) the RewP elicited by real-life social reward was considerably reduced in individuals with IGD relative to healthy gamers. (2) The N170 elicited by game avatar faces in individuals with IGD was larger than that elicited by real faces. However, the N170 was not associated with RewP in either group. (3) The score for IGD severity was correlated with the RewP elicited by real-life social reward and the N170 elicited by game avatar face. In conclusion, the present study suggests that the impaired social reward processing in individuals with IGD is mainly manifested in a decreased neural sensitivity to real-life social reward. Switching to renewable energy is key to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from building energy systems. The Renewable Energy System for Residential Building Heating and Electricity Production (RESHeat) uses solar irradiation, integrating underground thermal energy storage and high-performance heat pumps. This is a new system ongoing prototype demonstration, and its environmental impact has to be evaluated on a life-cycle basis. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the monthly and annual environmental impacts of RESHeat systems in Limanowa and Cracow, comparing them with traditional gas boilers and Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power system (CCHP) systems. Compared to traditional gas boilers, global warming and fossil resource scarcity are reduced by exceeding 60%. In the end-of-life of systems, reuse decreases mineral resource scarcity by 38.73% in Limanowa and 32.31% in Cracow. The RESHeat systems show significant environmental impacts in December and January for high heating demands. Compact energy systems for small building areas help to reduce environmental impacts. Utilization of electro‐responsive biomaterials with antibacterial properties is advantageous for facilitating septic wound healing and tissue regeneration. However, the dose‐response effects of electrical stimuli from these materials against bacteria are not rigorously characterized, and achieving synergy of bactericidal and pro‐regenerative effects of biomaterials remains a major challenge. Here, a graded series of flexible BaTiO3/P(VDF‐TrFE) electroactive nanocomposite membranes (EMs) are developed with varying surface charge intensities, to serve as antibacterial dressing for septic wound healing. EMs display broad‐spectrum antibacterial effects against both Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria in a dose‐dependent manner, depending on the magnitude of their surface electrical potential. Mechanistically, the surface charge of EMs increase intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species within bacteria cells, which in turn caused oxidative damage to the bacterial membrane, thereby suppressing bacterial activity and biofilm formation. Moreover, in vivo studies demonstrated that EMs effectively inhibited S. aureus infection and accelerated wound healing in a mouse skin defect model, as well as ameliorated P. gingivalis‐mediated periodontal inflammation in a mouse periodontitis model. Hence, this study optimizes the antibacterial properties of electroactive materials and characterizes the dose‐response effects of surface electrical charge against bacteria, thus validating the therapeutic applications of electroactive biomaterials in combating bacterial infection. Recovering cobalt from waste batteries is crucial for resource recycling and environmental protection. Here, MOF-OH, a Zr-based MOF, was synthesized and merged into a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) matrix to create MOF-OH-PAN nanofibers (NFs). These NFs showed a high cobalt ion adsorption capacity of 33.1 mg/g, retaining over 90% of the capacity after six cycles. The adsorption mechanism involves Co(II) surface diffusion followed by strong bonding with functional groups. This technology enables efficient cobalt recovery from waste batteries, supporting reuse and reducing resource depletion and environmental pollution. The high energy consumption of traditional water splitting to produce hydrogen is mainly due to complex oxygen evolution reaction (OER), where low-economic-value O2 gas is generated. Meanwhile, cogeneration of H2 and O2 may result in the formation of an explosive H2/O2 gas mixture due to gas crossover. Considering these factors, a favorable anodic oxidation reaction is employed to replace OER, which not only reduces the voltage for H2 production at the cathode and avoids H2/O2 gas mixture but also generates value-added products at the anode. In recent years, this innovative strategy that combines anodic oxidation for H2 production has received intensive attention in the field of electrocatalysis. In this review, the latest research progress of a coupled hydrogen production system with pollutant degradation/upgrading is systematically introduced. Firstly, wastewater purification via anodic reaction, which produces free radicals instead of OER for pollutant degradation, is systematically presented. Then, the coupled system that allows for pollutant refining into high-value-added products combined with hydrogen production is displayed. Thirdly, the photoelectrical system for pollutant degradation and upgrade are briefly introduced. Finally, this review also discusses the challenges and future perspectives of this coupled system. Objectives: To compare the effectiveness of caries arrest by micro-operative treatment (sealing) to operative treatment (flowable resin composite restoration) through a 2-year randomized controlled clinical trial. Materials and methods: A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted among 7-9-year-old children. At baseline, 630 subjects were screened and 92 children who had at least one carious lesion classified as ICDAS 3 on the pit and fissure of first permanent molar were included. Then they were randomly assigned to the sealant group (73 lesions) and the flowable resin composite group (76 lesions) to receive the corresponding intervention. Lesions status in each group was evaluated every 6 months up to 24 months. Clinical progression of dental caries and materials retention were the outcomes used for group comparisons at p-value < 0.05. Results: After 24 months, three lesions (4.1%) in the sealant group clinically progressed to dentin caries. No lesion in the flowable composite group was observed a progression. The results of Life-table survival analysis show that the cumulative caries arrest rate had no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.075). However, the cumulative retention rate was 57.5% in the sealant group and 92.1% in the flowable composite group, with significant differences (p < 0.001). The multilevel mixed model showed the sealant had higher risk of retention failure than the flowable composite (OR = 8.66, p < 0.001), while tooth position did not influence material retention (p = 0.083). In addition, the results of Fisher Exact test show that dentin lesions had more retention failure than enamel lesions in the sealant group (p = 0.026). Conclusion: Although sealing microcavitated carious lesions of the first permanent molar achieved lower retention rate than resin composite restoration, both sealing and restoration effectively arrested caries progression for two years. Clinical relevance: To preserving dental structure and delaying or eliminating the need for operative procedures, microcavitated carious lesion can be arrested by sealing. Artificial microswarms with a collective intelligence that can execute cooperative tasks will serve as intelligent micro/nanorobot systems for many biomedical and microengineering applications. However, it remains challenging to construct microswarms with 3D dynamic and reconfigurable structures that can execute complex spatiotemporal‐dependent tasks. Here, simply using a tapered optical fiber (TOF) with 1.55 µm wavelength light irradiation, a convenient opto‐hydrodynamic strategy for 3D dynamic microswarm actuation based on photothermal gradient‐induced Marangoni effect is reported. With light irradiation at the water‐air interface, randomly distributed microparticles are reorganized into firework‐like 3D swarms with four petals. Such petals in the microswarm are controllably reconfigurable by adjusting the angle between TOF and water‐air interface. These microswarms are also deformable and capable of performing stable migration by simply moving the TOF. Importantly, this opto‐hydrodynamic strategy is applicable for the formation of artificial 3D‐dynamic bio‐microswarms using different biological cells, which further facilitate the regulation of biological processes such as bacteria growth/division. This opto‐hydrodynamic strategy provides a new solution for 3D dynamic microswarm formation, with many potentials for biomedical and microengineering applications that need spatiotemporal‐dependent individual cooperation. Diet-related inflammation, which can be evaluated using the dietary inflammatory index (DII), is increasingly related to female infertility. However, studies on the association between DII and infertility are limited. In this study, we aim to explore the association between DII and infertility and its dose-effect relationship among women aged 20 to 45 years through a cross-sectional analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2013–2018. A total of 2613 women aged 20 to 45 years were included and analyzed. The DII was calculated using the first 24-hour dietary recall interview data and divided into quartiles. Weighted multivariable logistic regression and restricted cubic spline analysis were used to explore the relationship between DII and infertility. The odds ratio (OR) (95% confidence interval [CI]) for the association between DII and infertility was 1.06 (0.96–1.19) after multivariable adjustment. Compared with the first quartile (anti-inflammatory diet), the fourth quartile of DII (pro-inflammatory diet) was more strongly associated with an increased risk of infertility, with an OR of 1.61 (95% CI, 1.05–2.47). Restricted cubic splines showed a J-shaped nonlinear association between DII and infertility (P for nonlinear =.003), with a cutoff point of 2.45. When DII was higher than 2.45, the OR for infertility was 1.95 (95% CI, 1.49–2.54). Similar results were observed among the subgroup analyses. In conclusion, this study found high DII (pro-inflammatory diet) increases the risk of female infertility. DII had a J-shaped nonlinear relationship with female infertility, whose cut point is 2.45. Enhancing the quality of junctions is crucial for optimizing carrier extraction and suppressing recombination in semiconductor devices. In recent years, metal halide perovskite has emerged as the most promising next-generation material for optoelectronic devices. However, the construction of high-quality perovskite junctions, as well as characterization and understanding of their carrier polarity and density, remains a challenge. In this study, using combined electrical and spectroscopic characterization techniques, we investigate the doping characteristics of perovskite films by remote molecules, which is corroborated by our theoretical simulations indicating Schottky defects consisting of double ions as effective charge dopants. Through a post-treatment process involving a combination of biammonium and monoammonium molecules, we create a surface layer of n-type low-dimensional perovskite. This surface layer forms a heterojunction with the underlying 3D perovskite film, resulting in a favorable doping profile that enhances carrier extraction. The fabricated device exhibits an outstanding open-circuit voltage (V OC) up to 1.34 V and achieves a certified efficiency of 19.31% for single-junction wide-bandgap (1.77 eV) perovskite solar cells, together with significantly enhanced operational stability, thanks to the improved separation of carriers. Furthermore, we demonstrate the potential of this wide-bandgap device by achieving a certified efficiency of 27.04% and a V OC of 2.12 V in a perovskite/perovskite tandem solar cell configuration. The lens is an avascular tissue, where epithelial cells (LECs) are the primary living cells. The role of LECs-derived exosomes (LEC-exos) is largely unknown. In our study, we determined the anti-angiogenic role of LEC-exos, manifested as regressed retinal neovascularization (NV) using the oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR), and reduced choroidal NV size and pathological vascular leakage using the laser-induced choroidal neovascularization (laser-induced CNV). Furthermore, the activation and accumulation of microglia were also restricted by LEC-exos. Based on Luminex multiplex assays, the expressions of chemokines such as SCYB16/CXCL16, MCP-1/CCL2, I-TAC/CXCL11, and MIP 3beta/CCL19 were decreased after treatment with LEC-exos. Transwell assays showed that LEC-exos restricted the migration of the mouse microglia cell line (BV2 cells). After incubation with LEC-exos-treated BV2 cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (hUVECs) were collected for further evaluation using tube formation, Transwell assays, and 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EDU) assays. Using in vitro experiments, the pro-angiogenic effect of microglia was restricted by LEC-exos. Background: Aberrant intracellular or intercellular signaling pathways are important mechanisms that contribute to the development and progression of cancer. However, the intercellular communication associated with the development of ccRCC is currently unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine the aberrant tumor cell-to-cell communication signals during the development of ccRCC. Methods: We conducted an analysis on the scRNA-seq data of 6 ccRCC and 6 normal kidney tissues. This analysis included sub clustering, CNV analysis, single-cell trajectory analysis, cell–cell communication analysis, and transcription factor analysis. Moreover, we performed validation tests on clinical samples using multiplex immunofluorescence. Results: This study identified eleven aberrantly activated intercellular signaling pathways in tumor clusters from ccRCC samples. Among these, two of the majors signaling molecules, MIF and SPP1, were mainly secreted by a subpopulation of cancer stem cells. This subpopulation demonstrated high expression levels of the cancer stem cell markers POU5F1 and CD44 (POU5F1hiCD44hiE.T), with the transcription factor POU5F1 regulating the expression of SPP1. Further research demonstrated that SPP1 binds to integrin receptors on the surface of target cells and promotes ccRCC development and progression by activating potential signaling mechanisms such as ILK and JAK/STAT. Conclusion: Aberrantly activated tumor intercellular signaling pathways promote the development and progression of ccRCC. The cancer stem cell subpopulation (POU5F1hiCD44hiE.T) promotes malignant transformation and the development of a malignant phenotype by releasing aberrant signaling molecules and interacting with other tumor cells. Quartz tuning forks and qPlus-based force sensors offer an alternative approach to silicon cantilevers for investigating tip–sample interactions in scanning probe microscopy. The high-quality factor (Q) and stiffness of these sensors prevent the tip from jumping to the contact, even at sub-nanometer amplitude. The qPlus configuration enables simultaneous scanning tunneling microscopy and atomic force microscopy, achieving spatial resolution and spectroscopy at the subatomic level. Technological advancements in isotope techniques have been widely utilized in environmental pollution research, particularly for the monitoring of nitrate pollution in water. The utilization of pretreatment with an aqueous nitric acid solution offers numerous advantages in analyzing isotopic composition; however, there is still room for improvement regarding conversion efficiency, reduced reaction time, and cost control. In light of this, this study proposes an enhanced chemical conversion method that involves mitigating the interference caused by the nitrogen azide reaction during the pretreatment process, optimizing the purge gas to remove interfering factors, and improving the inlet device for measuring nitrous oxide. The improved method was applied to determine nitrate isotopes in the Ulansuhai Basin, Inner Mongolia and its reliability was verified through analytical results obtained from bacterial denitrification methods. The mean δ15N-NO 3 - and δ18O-NO 3 - values determined using the chemical transformation method were 4.85‰ and 23.44‰, respectively. Compared with the previous method, the improved method enhanced the maneuverability of precise control, the pretreatment time was reduced from 2 to 3 hours to 1.5 hours, and the experimental cost was scaled down to half of the original one. In addition, the contribution of each source was calculated by combining nitrate isotopes with a Bayesian stable isotope mixing model. It was found that manure sewage accounted for (50.1±22.6) % while soil nitrogen sources contributed (25.1±20.4) % to nitrate levels in Ulansuhai Lake's water. The chemical conversion methods successfully improved within this study can also be applied to other watersheds or regions. Here, we first identifed the pro-angiogenic effect of exosomes derived from vitreous humor of proliferative diabetic retinopathy patients, where lncRNA-MIAT was enriched inside. Secondly, lncRNA-MIAT was demonstrated significantly increased in exosomes from high glucose induced human retinal vascular endothelial cell, and can regulate tube formation, migration and proliferation ability to promote angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, the pro-angiogenic effect of lncRNA-MIAT was via the lncRNA-MIAT/miR-133a-3p/MMP-X1 axis. The reduced level of lncRNA-MIAT in this axis mitigated the generation of retinal neovascular in mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR), providing crucial evidence for lncRNA-MIAT as a potential clinical target. These findings enhance our understanding of the role of exosomal lncRNA-MIAT in retinal angiogenesis, and propose a promising therapeutic strategy against diabetic retinopathy. It is widely accepted that the sensitivity of SERS is mainly manipulated by the interactions between analyte molecules and metallic nanostructures. Herein, the adsorption behavior of pyridaben on silver surface was investigated systematically by DFT simulation and SERS verification for the first time. The adsorption site and ideal adsorption model of pyridaben were predicted by the simulate parameters of pyridaben, pyridaben-Ag 3 , pyridaben-Ag 4 , and pyridaben-Ag 6 obtained by DFT calculation, and the enhancement mechanism of Raman characteristic peaks was analyzed by comparing the Raman spectra of pyridaben and pyridaben-Ag 4 complex. The results showed that pyridaben was mainly vertically adsorbed on silver surface through the S atom of pyridaben. The adsorption model of pyridaben-Ag 4 complex was more stable, and SERS enhancement effect of pyridaben originated from the charge transfer effect between pyridaben molecule and Ag 4 cluster. Further, the potential practical application of the adsorption behavior study was evaluated by residue detection of pyridaben in apple. The method showed low LOD of 0.08 mg/kg, the linear range was 0.10–10.00 mg/kg, recovery ranged from 79.71 % to 113.98 %, and RSD was less than 16.16 %.
