Researchers from Wichita State University have published a paper on the use of additive manufacturing (AM) in supply chains. AM, also known as 3D printing, allows for the fabrication of products in a layer-by-layer fashion, resulting in low production costs and simplified supply chains. The researchers propose a blockchain-empowered system architecture called Additive Manufacturing-as-a-Service (AMaaS) to facilitate the adoption of AM in manufacturing industries.
