The financial motivation to earn advertising revenue has been widely conjectured to be pivotal for the production of online misinformation 1-4 . Research aimed at mitigating misinformation has so far focused on interventions at the user level 5-8 , with little emphasis on how the supply of misinformation can itself be countered. Here we show how online misinformation is largely financed by advertising, examine how financing misinformation affects the companies involved, and outline interventions for reducing the financing of misinformation. First, we find that advertising on websites that publish misinformation is pervasive for companies across several industries and is amplified by digital advertising platforms that algorithmically distribute advertising across the web. Using an information-provision experiment 9 , we find that companies that advertise on websites that publish misinformation can face substantial backlash from their consumers. To examine why misinformation continues to be monetized despite the potential backlash for the advertisers involved, we survey decision-makers at companies. We find that most decision-makers are unaware that their companies' advertising appears on misinformation websites but have a strong preference to avoid doing so. Moreover, those who are unaware and uncertain about their company's role in financing misinformation increase their demand for a platform-based solution to reduce monetizing misinformation when informed about how platforms amplify advertising placement on misinformation websites. Background: Veterinarians should be able to easily access scientific evidence about medical products and devices to incorporate into their clinical decision making. While the characteristics and quality of supporting information accompanying device and pharmaceutical advertisements have been studied in human medicine, little is known about this topic in veterinary medicine. The aim of this study was to characterise the supporting information provided by manufacturers of prescribed products, tests or devices in promotional material found in two commonly read UK-based veterinary publications., Methods: Advertisements contained in issues of two veterinary periodicals published between July 2017 and July 2018 were analysed for advertisement and product characteristics and for items of accompanying information. Literature searches were conducted to assess the availability of peer-reviewed sources of information on advertised products., Results: A minority (16%) of the 451 analysed advertisements were accompanied by references to peer-reviewed literature, despite the availability of scientific literature for many of the products advertised., Limitation: This study sampled two professional publications over a narrow time period., Conclusions: There may be insufficient evidence being provided to veterinary professionals via marketing features; this may limit the accessibility of scientific information for clinical decision making around advertised products., (© 2024 The Authors. Recruiting cisgender, heterosexual young men for research participation can be a difficult endeavour. This is more challenging with qualitative research studies that require substantial time commitment, or be of a sensitive nature, such as discussions of sex, intimacy, and emotion. These challenges can be amplified with the shift to online data collection procedures due to COVID-19. In this paper I reflect on the process of recruiting cisgender, heterosexual men for a qualitative study on sex and intimacy that relied solely on online advertising during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I build on a critical men and masculinity (CMM) studies framework by considering a 'sex-as-dirty-work' approach which centres the uncomfortable practice of talking about and researching sex. I highlight the success of this approach that counters recommended best practice in getting men to participate. I conclude with a discussion of the implications of this approach, and suggestions for researchers.

Within the evolving landscape of advertising, educators and employers continuously strive to recognize students and potential employees for every competitive advantage. Creativity, a pivotal determinant of campaign effectiveness, has been recognized as the foremost soft skill sought by employers according to LinkedIn. Grounded in trait theory, this paper posits that personality serves as a crucial tool for educators and employers in identifying individuals predisposed to a career in creative advertising and delineates personality traits that are predictive of an individual's propensity to engage in creative advertising. This not only bridges the gap between personality and advertising practices but also offers empirical insights that could inform educational strategies and recruitment processes. Thus, it contributes a novel perspective to the discourse on talent identification and development in the creative advertising domain. Lastly, this study utilizes HEXACO Personality Inventory, an advancement from models such as the Big-5 to advance trait theory research.

Studio music teachers have always been constant in Australian society, rarely recognised beyond their immediate surrounds. Building a 'connection' of students required advertising, primarily by word-of-mouth or via local press announcements. Few teachers placed individual advertisements in local papers. This changed in 1911 with the establishment of monthly The Australian Musical News, intended to report and support musicians and music teachers. In its first edition, four studio music teachers placed advertisements, first to use this new opportunity. We unfold the stories of Mrs. Arthur Royce, Herr Franz O. Schieblich, James Ure, and J. Alfred Johnstone. By happenstance, their diverse careers capture the different ways of being a studio teacher in contemporary Australia. We note the unchanging nature of studio music teaching and suggest that, with the exception of technologies, the activities of these four teachers resonate with modern practice.

Purpose: The overall aim of the presented paper was to identify the main areas of application of artificial intelligence in advertising activities. Design/methodology/approach: In order to realise the objectives of this paper, it was decided to use two research methods: bibliometric analysis and a multiple case study. First, a quantitative analysis of the resources of the Scopus and Web of Science databases was carried out, which was used to isolate the main research areas concerning the application of artificial intelligence in advertising. Next, examples of advertisements from the business world that use artificial intelligence were searched for and assigned to each research area. In the final phase, the case studies were related to the results of a qualitative analysis of the literature exported during bibliometric research. Findings: With capabilities such as analysing, automating, creating and optimising, AI systems can have a variety of applications in advertising. In particular, they are used to monitor trends, targeting, behavioural prediction, personalisation, creation, audience interaction and engagement. Research limitations/implications: The article contains a preliminary study. In the future it is planned to conduct additional quantitative and qualitative research. Practical implications: The conclusions of the study can serve to better understand the relevance of artificial intelligence for the advertising industry and the practical possibilities of its use. The results of the study can be used both in market practice and as inspiration for further research in this area. Image advertising is widely used by companies to advertise their products and increase awareness of their brands. With the constant development of image generation techniques, automatic compositing of advertisement images has also been widely studied. However, the existing algorithms cannot synthesise consistent-looking advertisement images for a given product. The key challenge is to stitch a given product into a scene that matches the style of the product while maintaining a consistent-looking. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new two-stage automatic advertisement image generation model, called Advertisement Synthesis Network (ASNet), which explores a two-stage generation framework to synthesise consistent-looking product advertisement images. Specifically, ASNet first generates a preliminary target product scene using Pre-Synthesis and then extracts scene features using Pseudo-Target Object Encoder (PTOE) and true target features using Real Target Object Encoder (RTOE), respectively. Finally, we inject the acquired features into the pretrained diffusion model and reconstruct them in the preliminary generated target goods scene. Extensive experiments have shown that the method achieves better results in all three performance metrics related to the quality of the synthesised image compared to other methods. In addition, we have done a simple and preliminary study on the effect of synthetic advertisement images on real consumers' purchase intention and brand perception. The results of the study show that the advertisement images synthesised by the model proposed in this paper have a positive impact on consumer purchase intention and brand perception. Memes are not new concepts, but they have garnered popularity recently. They are a prevalent form of communication on various social media platforms. However, due to a lack of concrete literature (Al Rashdi, 2020), there is still some initial scepticism surrounding them. This paper uses a systematic literature review to create a pool of research papers to be examined to chart the conceptual development of memes, determine how they are used in different fields, and present a vision of memes in the near future. It identifies eleven areas which were studied in parallel to memes, suggesting possible meme applications and development. These case studies should focus on real-world problems and solutions that educators and students encounter in the classroom and the workforce. Developing a Theory of Mind (ToM) in children aged 3-5 is a crucial milestone in their cognitive development. Referring to the ability to understand that other people have beliefs, desires, and intentions that may differ from one's own, this ability is critical for social interactions and communication, as it enables individuals to predict and interpret the behavior of others based on their mental states. For this reason, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the historical literature on the theory of mind, particularly in its correlation to brand symbolism in children aged 3-5 years and food-related development. Exploring the past literature, models, and examples of ToM, this paper offers important implications for marketers and parents alike, with help in designing more effective advertising campaigns that leverage brand symbolism to create positive associations with their products and brands to children, as well as recognizing the potential influence of brand symbolism on their children's attitudes and behavior towards certain products. Children with a more developed ToM tend to have a better understanding of brand symbolism and are more likely to make connections between a brand and its symbolic representation. In the context of food-related development, and with children's food preferences and choices shaped by various factors, researchers and practitioners can be shown a pathway to develop more effective strategies for promoting healthy food choices and addressing the obesity epidemic. In conclusion, the findings of this paper highlight the importance of considering children's ToM abilities when designing marketing strategies and the potential impact of brand symbolism on children's consumer behavior. Further research in this beneficial field that can explore these relationships in more detail should be focused on developing evidence-based interventions to promote healthy food choices and protect children from the potentially harmful effects of marketing messages. Purpose: For over 15 years, Mental Health First Aid™ (MHFA) has successfully been delivered in Wales, United Kingdom, with growing interest in the MHFA programme and increasing course attendees. Trainers, aware of the need for support, know the importance of MHFA being accessible for different communities and learner groups. MHFA has always focused on increasing mental health literacy. One marginalised group, with lower mental health literacy than the general population, is Deaf people, a group with increased risk of mental health problems. This paper aims to provide insights about why Deaf people are twice as likely as hearing people to experience mental health problems. Design/methodology/approach: During this paper, the authors have used four focal points i) exploring situational contexts for Deaf people; ii) reasons why Deaf individuals are at greater risk of mental health problems; iii) the authors explore a project, "Hear Deaf", and implementation of MHFA Wales by Deaf MHFA trainers; and iv) initiatives to influence and impact on policymakers. Findings: During the project, nine MHFA courses were delivered to Deaf communities across different locations in Wales, often with information and advertisements circulated directly to Deaf communities through Deaf clubs, resulting in 120 Deaf people trained. The authors conclude with their own reflections as a researcher and an MHFA who work predominantly with Deaf communities. Originality/value: This paper provides a discussion on the specific risks for Deaf people around mental health and the importance of mental health promotion programmes for Deaf communities. Shared manufacturing is a new business form that focuses on all aspects of production and manufacturing, mainly relying on the shared manufacturing platform to achieve the optimal allocation of idle resources. For enterprises, in the process of deciding to lease idle resources, the pricing and advertising investment efficiency of the shared manufacturing platform is a valuable research issue. The shared manufacturing model in this paper consists of one manufacturer and one shared manufacturing platform, which will invest in cooperative advertising while the shared manufacturing process is completed. The cooperative advertising involves four models: the traditional cooperation model, the cost-sharing contract model, the revenue-sharing contract model, and the bilateral cost-sharing contract model. We investigate the impact of some key parameters on the prices and profits of the manufacturer and the shared manufacturing platform based on the differential game. The numerical examples demonstrate the viability of the model. Finally, we provide suggestions based on the decision-making of the manufacturer and the shared manufacturing platform under different cooperative advertising models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In a strong competitive environment, differentiation from other manufacturers is essential to ensure the flow of sales and the increase of turnover. Advertising can differentiate the offer of the economic organization from similar products obtained by competitors. The objective of the paper is to identify the effects of advertising on the purchasing behavior of dairy products, based on the data obtained from a questionnaire conducted on a sample of 206 respondents. The research question is: what are the effects of advertising on dairy buying behavior? In order to achieve this objective, the answers of the analysis carried out are analyzed. The results of the research show that advertising has a significant impact on dairy buying behavior. Effective advertising campaigns increase the notoriety and attractiveness of dairy products, contributing to consumer loyalty. In general, consumers are more likely to choose intensively promoted dairy products, demonstrating the importance of advertising in the marketing strategy of producers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
