This paper presents a comprehensive review of the most recent papers and research trends in the fields of wind energy and artificial intelligence. Our study aims to guide future research by identifying the potential application and research areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in the wind energy sector and the knowledge gaps in this field. Artificial intelligence techniques offer significant benefits and advantages in many sub‐areas, such as increasing the efficiency of wind energy facilities, estimating energy production, optimizing operation and maintenance, providing security and control, data analysis, and management. Our research focuses on studies indexed in the Web of Science library on wind energy between 2000 and 2023 using sub‐branches of artificial intelligence techniques such as artificial neural networks, other machine learning methods, data mining, fuzzy logic, meta‐heuristics, and statistical methods. In this way, current methods and techniques in the literature are examined to produce more efficient, sustainable, and reliable wind energy, and the findings are discussed for future studies. This comprehensive evaluation is designed to be helpful to academics and specialists interested in acquiring a current and broad perspective on the types of uses of artificial intelligence in wind energy and seeking what research subjects are needed in this field. This article provides a detailed evaluation of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) approaches and metaheuristic algorithms for optimizing wind turbine location inside wind farms. The growing need for renewable energy sources has fueled an increase in research towards efficient and sustainable wind farm designs. To address this challenge, various AI techniques, including genetic algorithms (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), simulated annealing, artificial neural networks (ANNs), convolutional neural networks (CNNs), and reinforcement learning, have been explored in combination with metaheuristic algorithms. The goal is to discover optimal sites for turbine placement based on a variety of parameters such as energy output, cost-effectiveness, environmental impact, and geographical restrictions. The paper examines the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy and highlights current breakthroughs in the area. This assessment adds to continuing efforts to optimize wind farm design and promote the use of clean and sustainable energy sources by offering significant insights into current advances. The motivation of this paper is to investigate the resistance of countries' energy research and development (RD&D) expenditures to random shocks. The analysis includes the five countries (France, Germany, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom) that are the biggest investors in RD&D in fossil fuels, renewables, energy efficiency, and nuclear energy. Thus, economies will be able to take precautions against global shocks in producing sustainable energy policies. To achieve this aim, this paper uses the artificial neural network approach, which uses a distributed computing model that can store and generalize data after a learning period. Empirical results widely depend on countries and distinct energy technology policy fields. The key findings provide evidence that RD&D expenditures, except for renewables, do not tend to mean revert. The economies of Japan, Germany, and the United States should make more renewable investments to reduce the resistance of renewable energy sources to shocks and thus produce policies for both environmental sustainability and energy security. The economies of France and the United Kingdom can ensure energy security by continuing their sustainable energy policies. • Applied SDG policies focused on energy technology RD&D are presented. • The stochastic characteristics of energy technology investments are examined. • Carbon-reducing policies are recommended for the top five economies. • Energy technologies are perused through artificial intelligence approach. In this paper, a novel Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) method for Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers is presented. The challenge of limited availability of labeled fault data is addressed through the utilization of Bond Graphs (BG) and Self-Supervised Learning (SSL). The Linear Fractional Transformation-Bond Graph (LFT-BG) model is employed to generate uncertain residuals and pseudo labels, enabling the training of a deep neural network through self-supervised learning. Additionally, the BG-XAI method is introduced, leveraging eXplainable AI (XAI) and structural equations from Bond Graphs to provide explanations for the decisions made by the deep learning model. The superior performance of the proposed approach, particularly in dealing with limited labeled data, is demonstrated through comparative assessments against various state-of-the-art SSL methods. The increasing complexity of modern power systems due to the integration of prosumers, renewable energy sources, and energy storage, has significantly complicated system organization and planning. Traditional centralized power plants are being replaced by decentralized structures, making the power flow more complex to predict. As a result, alternative methodologies for power system planning are imminent. This paper introduces a novel approach using a combination of artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) models for forecasting system states. Here, ANN model predicts energy consumption, while the ANFIS model forecasts thermal and hydro power plant production as well as CO2 emissions. The accuracy of these models results from leveraging the collective expertise of power system planning professionals, utilizing extensive databases containing hourly data from measurements in Serbian power systems. These datasets encompass hourly production data from various energy sources, energy consumption patterns, and relevant environmental parameters (such as temperature, wind speed, and solar irradiation). To underscore the effectiveness of the proposed ANN model, predictions of power consumption from ANN are compared with predictions from ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average) model. The developed forecasting models are employed to predict annual and daily energy consumption, seasonal variations in thermal and hydro production, and annual CO2 emissions. The dependencies between power consumption/production and ambient parameters are visually depicted in three-dimensional representations. Model accuracy is evaluated through graphical, numerical, and error-based analyses across four distinct error metrics. By utilizing historical data and expert insights from previous production scheduling, these models enhance the precision of future production scheduling decisions. This approach minimizes human error, maximizes the utilization of human expertise, and establishes a framework for effectively planning large-scale power systems. The primary contribution of this research lies in the integration of artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) methodologies. This combined approach minimizes the errors inherent in each individual methodology while leveraging their respective advantages. Specifically, the consumption prediction error achieved is 5.64%. When ANFIS is utilized with a training database based on ANN consumption prediction, the prediction error for CO2 emissions is 1.27%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fast expansion of renewable energy sources, particularly photovoltaic (PV) panels, has become critical in meeting the world's rising energy needs while also addressing environmental issues. An effective control technique is a factor worth consideration to achieve enough power from PV panels. This abstract summarizes in detail the use of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and Artificial Intelligence-based technologies for achieving better performances of PV systems Firstly we will analyze the techniques of MPPT and artificial neural network (ANN) that are the best choices for high-quality power and considerations on the discussion will be put forward. The precision of determining the current, voltage, and power gradients has been accentuated by artificial intelligence to predict solar radiation within a close range of the true value. With the in-crease in the radiations, the corresponding current values go up too. In turn, voltage values increase as well as the power values. The AI system is the better watchdog as op-posed to traditional methods to temperature ambient. Now temperature change begins to adversely affect these factors. The given chart shows that current values start to decrease drastically from 25℃ of temperature. Then at 65℃ one of the power value drops to 175V and then to 16000W. Recent advancements in data science and artificial intelligence, as well as the development of clean and sustainable energy sources, have created numerous opportunities for energy researchers to conduct their studies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques have been applied to Renewable Energy Systems (RES) for several years, and their intensity and scope have grown in recent years. Since artificial intelligence and machine learning have a wide range of applications, it may be difficult to select and implement suitable methods for future research. In order to address this issue, this study examines several of the most popular and well-known AI techniques in renewable energy. This paper describes over ten of the most prevalent RES modeling and optimization algorithms, including Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Long and Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Recurrent and Convolutional Neural Networks (RNNs and CNNs), the Genetic Algorithm (GA), and the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (PSO). More than a hundred different studies between 2020 and 2022 have been compiled and organized in the results section according to the method used and the field of application. The efforts to revolutionize electric power generation and produce clean and sustainable electricity have led to the exploration of renewable energy systems (RES). This form of energy is replenished and cost-effective in terms of production and maintenance. However, RES, such as solar and wind energies, is intermittent; this is one of the drawbacks of its usage. In order to overcome this limitation, studies have been undertaken to forecast its availability and power output. The current trending method of forecasting availability and the power generated by the RES is the artificial intelligence (AI) method. However, with all its potential, traditional AI, such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and many more, does not have it all. Because of this, metaheuristic algorithms are being explored as optimization techniques to increase the performance accuracy of these AI forecasting methods and overcome some challenges of traditional AI models. This study presents an insightful survey of AI (traditional AI and metaheuristic) methods explored to forecast the availability of solar and wind renewable energy systems. A survey of the existing surveyed literature was presented. The taxonomy of the explored AI in RES was formulated, and the theoretical backgrounds of some of the traditional AI algorithms were presented. Also, the various forms of metaheuristic algorithms and the improved versions applied to optimize classical AI methods to forecast RES systems' availability and power output were surveyed. A conceptual framework of the hybrid AI application in RES was formulated. Finally, the survey discussion, insight, challenges of the existing models and future directions were presented.
