This paper explores the creation, development, and dissemination of prefabricated concrete rural houses in Jiangsu Province in East China from 1961 to the 1980s, an example of the technological transition provoked by the depletion of forest and timber in China. Through archival research, fieldwork and interviews, the paper examines the two waves of design and dissemination of prefabricated concrete rural houses between 1961 and 1965 and their subsequent 'vernacularisation' in the 1970s and the 1980s. This research provides a twofold insight into the current scholarly debates surrounding built heritage and global climate change. On one hand, it addresses a historical context of concrete overuse in contemporary China, a matter of critical importance in relation to carbon emissions and global climate change. On the other hand, it offers a counter-argument to today's call for reintroducing timber structures in many places, as evidenced by the case of East China, where the widespread use of materials like concrete was primarily a consequence of the ecological crisis following decades of deforestation and timber resource depletion. In addition, the 'vernacularisation' of concrete structures manifested by this case still provides lessons for today's efforts to popularise more eco-friendly construction materials and technologies, especially in rural areas, and the prefabricated concrete houses possess potential heritage values as trackers of ecological changes. With the growing concern for the environment, sustainable development centred on a low-carbon economy has become a unifying pursuit for the energy industry. Integrated energy systems (IES) that combine multiple energy sources such as electricity, heat and gas are essential to facilitate the consumption of renewable energy and the reduction of carbon emission. In this paper, gas turbine (GT), carbon capture and storage (CCS) and power-to-gas (P2G) device are introduced to construct a new carbon capture coupling device model, GT-CCS-P2G (GCCP), which is applied to the integrated electrical and gas system (IEGS). Multi-agent soft actor critic (MASAC) applies historical trajectory representations, parameter spatial techniques and deep densification frameworks to reinforcement learning for reducing the detrimental effects of time-series data on the decisional procedure. The energy scheduling problem of IEGS is redefined as a Markov game, which is addressed by adopting a low carbon economic control framework based on MASAC with minimum operating cost and minimum carbon emission as the optimization objectives. To validate the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed low-carbon economy scheduling model of IEGS based on MASAC, this paper simulates and analyses in integrated PJM-5 node system and seven nodes natural gas system. The power sector is one of the major CO2-emitting industries in China. It is also the first key emissions control industry included in China's national carbon trading market established in 2021. Therefore, based on the data of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2015 to 2022, this study analyzes the impact of the national carbon market policy on the carbon emissions of the power industry based on the generalized Difference-in-Difference (DID) model. Based on the method of text analysis, this paper constructs the carbon market policy intensity index of each region and incorporates it into the DID model. Empirical analysis finds that the national carbon market policy can significantly inhibit the carbon emissions of the power industry. However, the heterogeneity analysis of 30 provinces and cities shows that the national carbon market policy has a significant impact on the regions that already have a carbon pilot, but not on the non-pilot regions. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the national carbon market policy in the power industry emissions control, and also exposes the heterogeneity between regions, providing an important empirical basis for the inclusion of other energy-intensive industries. Accounting and finance are intricately intertwined with the global quest for environmental sustainability by applying accounting and finance tools for carbon reduction initiatives. Clean energy financial investment is one of the many alternative tools through which accounting contributes to carbon reduction. Accordingly, this paper analysed the impact of separate and integrated clean energy investment alternatives on carbon reduction. Data on clean energy financial investment and carbon emission per capita were collected from the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Our World in Data archives, respectively. Data was analysed by using multiple pooled OLS to evaluate the impact of individual clean energy financial investments on carbon reduction and the impact of integrating the various clean energy financial investment alternatives on carbon reduction separately. Findings show that individual clean energy financial investments may not separately offer desired carbon reduction, hence, albeit some negative coefficients, individual clean investments showed no significant impact on carbon reduction. However, furthering the test by pooling all the clean energy financial investment alternatives shows a significant negative effect of clean energy financial investment on carbon reduction at a P-value of 0.05. This shows that an integration of different alternatives of clean energy financial investment may offer an enhanced reduction of carbon emission, which outweighs the effect of relying on a single clean energy investment alternative. The findings offer significant insight for policy makers' future strategies towards a combination of multiple clean energy financial investments. Furthermore, the findings from this paper are a further testament that accounting and finance are connected with the global quest for environmental sustainability through the application of accounting and financial investment tools in conducting clean energy financial investment. The digital economy plays an important role in reducing the global warming process. This paper explores the spatiotemporal heterogeneity impacts of the digital economy on provincial carbon emissions and its underlying mechanisms. Initially, this paper examines the inhibitory impact of the digital economy on carbon emissions, alongside the mediating role of economic agglomeration, at a theoretical level. Subsequently, it empirically explores the quantitative associations among the digital economy, economic agglomeration, and carbon emissions by utilizing Chinese provincial panel data spanning from 2000 to 2021. This investigation employed static and dynamic spatial Durbin models as well as mediation models to analyze the interrelationships. The results firstly revealed that the digital economy notably diminishes carbon emissions, with economic agglomeration playing a significant mediating role. This conclusion remained consistent even after substituting the explanatory variables and weight matrix, modifying the sample period, and conducting other robustness tests. Secondly, the impact of the digital economy on carbon emissions exhibited spatial spillovers. Compared with the impact on the local area, the impact on neighboring provinces was found to be weaker. Thirdly, carbon emissions showed a significant "snowball" effect in the time dimension. This paper emphasizes the important role of digital technology in curbing carbon emissions, and it provides some policy insights for studying the digital economy, economic agglomeration, and carbon emissions. The land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector, as a source and a sink of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, is critical for achieving carbon neutrality. Many academic journals have published papers on land use carbon emission or sink (LUCES), but LUCES reviews are relatively rare, which poses great challenges in accurately understanding the research progress and future prospects. This work analyzes the research characteristics, hotspots and future perspectives of LUCES research by using a bibliometric analysis (such as DDA, VOSviewer, CiteSpace software) and a review based on the data (6115 scientific papers) during 1991–2023 from the Web of Science (WoS) platform. We found that (1) over the past 33 years, it first presented a steady growth, then fluctuating growth, and finally a rapid growth trend in the yearly number of publications in LUCES research. The USA (17.31%), China (14.96%), and the UK (7.37%) occupy a dominant position in this research field. (2) The related LUCES research is interdisciplinary, which mainly cover science and technology, meteorology and atmospheric sciences, geology, and environmental sciences and ecology disciplines. (3) The research hotspot analysis on LUCES shows that these articles mostly covered the follow three aspects: ecosystem services, climate change, and carbon neutrality. (4) A review of the past LUCES literature suggests that it is mainly focused on exploring the forefront issues in terms of the definition and boundaries, evaluation method and influencing factors, etc. This work suggests that further research could explore the main scientific problems on quantification of land-based carbon neutrality, quantitative analysis of the impact mechanisms, as well as interdisciplinary research and collaborative governance needed for carbon neutrality. Regional integration plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic advancement of various global regions and is closely linked with the expansion of construction land. This expansion is a major contributor to urban carbon emissions. Utilizing a geographical regression discontinuity design (GRDD), this paper estimates the impact of urban construction land expansion on carbon emissions and explores the underlying mechanisms within the regional integration process of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), China. The findings reveal that urban construction land expansion significantly influences carbon emissions, displaying an inverted "U"-shaped pattern. Furthermore, this expansion affects carbon emissions through the transformation of industrial structures, shifts in consumption patterns, and enhancements in scientific and technological investments. Our findings span the performance of the Yangtze River Delta from its early development stages to a relatively mature phase. This paper also partially reveals how the Yangtze River Delta, with both megacities and large- to medium-sized cities, manages urban construction land expansion during the integration process and strives for low-carbon emissions reduction. These results can provide green growth recommendations that balance socio-economic development, low-carbon emissions, and social equity not only for other urban agglomerations in China but also for similar regions in other developing countries by altering construction land utilization patterns. In order to reduce pollution caused by ship emissions, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) implemented sulfur emission control areas (SECAs). In comparison to ordinary vessels, cruise ships with dual attributes of transportation and tourism generate a greater amount of marine pollution, which poses a significant threat to the marine environment in both berthing ports and the sailing area. In light of the fierce competition of the cruise tourism market, cruise lines are looking for strategies, such as designing more attractive cruise routes, to maintain their core competencies under the emission control policy. In order to achieve this goal, this paper presents a mixed-integer non-linear programming (MINP) model with two objectives and is derived from the traditional route optimization problem. The primary objective is to optimize the route and speed of a cruise liner, while simultaneously enhancing route competitiveness and minimizing carbon emissions both within and outside the SECAs. Subsequently, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm was used to reach the objective, and simulations were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the model and method. The results show that speed and sailing route optimization can affect carbon emissions. The reactive power optimization of an active distribution network can effectively deal with the problem of voltage overflows at some nodes caused by the integration of a high proportion of distributed sources into the distribution network. Aiming to address the limitations in previous studies of dynamic reactive power optimization using the cluster partitioning method, a three-stage dynamic reactive power optimization decoupling strategy for active distribution networks considering carbon emissions is proposed in this paper. First, a carbon emission index is proposed based on the carbon emission intensity, and a dynamic reactive power optimization mathematical model of an active distribution network is established with the minimum active power network loss, voltage deviation, and carbon emissions as the satisfaction objective functions. Second, in order to satisfy the requirement for the all-day motion times of discrete devices, a three-stage dynamic reactive power optimization decoupling strategy based on the partitioning around a medoids clustering algorithm is proposed. Finally, taking the improved IEEE33 and PG&E69-node distribution network systems as examples, the proposed linear decreasing mutation particle swarm optimization algorithm was used to solve the mathematical model. The results show that all the indicators of the proposed strategy and algorithm throughout the day are lower than those of other methods, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed strategy and algorithm. The importance and urgency of domestic solid waste (DSW) source segregation in universities is self-evident. Although many universities have carried out waste management, however, a comprehensive summary for successful implementation work of DSW segregation is lacking. This study summarizes the mechanism of DSW segregation in Chinese university based on questionnaire survey, on-site inquiry and sampling analysis in a comprehensive university in Shanghai. Questionnaire survey show that it is critical for encouraging students to participate in waste segregation to build convenient segregation facilities and humanized segregation reward and punishment method. The strengthened publicity and education due to the advantages in environmental discipline, easy-operating waste dumping site/facility as well as personalized solutions for different functional areas (teaching building) were considerably important strategies for implementing efficient waste segregation. The recyclables that were collected by intelligent recycling device and mobile recycling enterprise were dominated by paper, and the amounts increased dramatically during the graduation season. Therefore, the university correspondingly increased the collection frequencies of waste and the number of segregation guiders in the period to decrease the potential risk of fire safety. As the world embarks on a global mission to tackle climate change, reducing carbon represents a key challenge given the escalating global warming. The U.K. is among many other nations that are determined to decarbonise all sectors and strive to achieve a net zero carbon target by 2050. While much attention has been paid to improving performance and reducing carbon emissions in electrical machines, the current research landscape focuses mainly on the thermal and electromagnetic facets. Surprisingly, carbon emissions from the production stage, especially those related to raw material consumption, remain a largely unexplored area. This paper wishes to shed light on a neglected dimension by providing a comprehensive review of carbon emissions in the manufacture of electrical machines, thus contributing significantly to the wider discourse on carbon emission reduction by comparing the carbon emission values associated with various materials commonly used for the main components of these machines. A further case study is included to assess and explore the impact of material alterations on a synchronous machine, from a carbon emission perspective. A reliable material guide will provide engineers at the design stage with the critical insight needed to make informed material selection decisions, highlighting the critical role of carbon emission values beyond conventional thermal and electromagnetic considerations, achieving sustainable and environmentally conscious electrical machine design. Carbon cycling acts a vital role in the global exchange of substance and energy flow, influencing climate change dynamics. The carbon cycling process in freshwater ecosystem is an important component of global carbon cycling. Therefore, studying carbon storage and emission processes in freshwater ecosystems can increase our understanding of carbon cycling processes in freshwater ecosystems. In addition, investigating the influencing factors can provide theoretical basis for formulating the relevant measures to mitigate and manage global warming. This paper first reviews the roads of sediment carbon storage and emission in freshwater ecosystems, and then discusses the influence factors of carbon storage and emission from climatic conditions, hydrologic conditions (water level, water quality and temperature), and biological factors (phytoplankton, microorganism, aquatic animals and submerged macrophytes) under the background of global climate warming. These factors not only interact and correlate with each other but also directly and indirectly affect carbon storage and emission of sediment. The variation of carbon storage and emission of sediment is account for the composite effects of many factors. An extended STIRPAT model was constructed to explore the impact of green consumption behaviors on carbon emission. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2005 to 2019, this paper analyzed the effect of green consumption behaviors, regional population size, economic development level and technological level on carbon emission, and then forecasted the carbon emission in eastern, central and western China from 2020 to 2035. The results demonstrate that carbon emission increases with the expansion of population size; green consumption behaviors have a significant moderating effect on carbon emission and alleviate the pressure of population growth on carbon emission; instead of following the environmental Kuznets curve, the trend of carbon emission shows an inverted "N" curve with economic growth; There is a positive correlation between technological progress and carbon emission; the increase in the level of consumers' expenditure and the ratio of the secondary industry output value over the total GDP lead to an increase in carbon emission, while the improvement of the urbanization level reduces carbon emission. Digital networks have brought about more frequent economic interaction. Labor misallocation influences regional green development through digital channels. Constructing a digital divide matrix among 30 Chinese provinces, a spatial Durbin model was applied in this paper to address the digital spillover of labor misallocation on carbon emission. We obtained the following research findings: (1) The digital divide in China tends to spread from east to west between 2006 and 2021. (2) Labor misallocation impacts carbon emissions through digital spillover. Specifically, labor misallocation increases local carbon emissions, as well as carbon emissions in digital adjacent regions. (3) The widening digital divide exacerbates the digital spillover effects of labor misallocation. The result's plausibility was further verified by generalized spatial two-stage least squares. (4) Labor misallocation increases carbon emissions when the digital divide exceeds a threshold. The results provide an effectual reference for digital governance in Chinese carbon emissions. Low or even zero carbon dioxide emissions will be an essential requirement for energy supplies in the near future. Besides transport and electricity generation, industry is another large carbon emitter. Hydrogen produced by renewable energy provides a flexible way of utilizing that energy. Hydrogen, as an energy carrier, could be stored in a large capacity compared to electricity. In Sweden, hydrogen will be used to replace coal for steel production. This paper discusses how the need for electricity to produce hydrogen will affect the electricity supply and power flow in the Swedish power grid, and whether it will result in increased emissions in other regions. Data of the Swedish system will be used to study the feasibility of implementing the hydrogen system from the power system viewpoint, and discuss the electricity price and emission issues caused by the hydrogen production in different scenarios. This paper concludes that the Swedish power grid is feasible for accommodating the additional electricity capacity requirement of producing green hydrogen for the steel industry. The hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is rapidly developing in China for carbon reduction and neutrality. This paper evaluated the life-cycle cost and carbon emission of hydrogen energy via lots of field surveys, including hydrogen production and packing in chlor-alkali plants, transport by tube trailers, storage and refueling in hydrogen refueling stations (HRSs), and application for use in two different cities. It also conducted a comparative study for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs). The result indicates that hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) has the best environmental performance but the highest energy cost. However, a sufficient hydrogen supply can significantly reduce the carbon intensity and FCV energy cost of the current system. The carbon emission for FCV application has the potential to decrease by 73.1% in City A and 43.8% in City B. It only takes 11.0%–20.1% of the BEV emission and 8.2%–9.8% of the ICEV emission. The cost of FCV driving can be reduced by 39.1% in City A. Further improvement can be obtained with an economical and "greener" hydrogen production pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the transition to sustainable public transportation with zero-emission buses, hydrogen fuel cell electric buses have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional diesel buses. However, assessing their economic viability is crucial for widespread adoption. This study carries out a comprehensive examination, encompassing both sensitivity and probabilistic analyses, to assess the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the bus fleet and its corresponding infrastructure. It considers various hydrogen supply options, encompassing on-site electrolysis, on-site steam methane reforming, and off-site hydrogen procurement with both gaseous and liquid delivery methods. The analysis covers critical cost elements, encompassing bus acquisition costs, infrastructure capital expenses, and operational and maintenance costs for both buses and infrastructure. This paper conducted two distinct case studies: one involving a current small bus fleet of five buses and another focusing on a larger fleet set to launch in 2028. For the current small fleet, the off-site gray hydrogen purchase with a gaseous delivery option is the most cost-effective among hydrogen alternatives, but it still incurs a 26.97% higher TCO compared to diesel buses. However, in the case of the expanded 2028 fleet, the steam methane-reforming method without carbon capture emerges as the most likely option to attain the lowest TCO, with a high probability of 99.5%. Additionally, carbon emission costs were incorporated in response to the growing emphasis on environmental sustainability. The findings indicate that although diesel buses currently represent the most economical option in terms of TCO for the existing small fleet, steam methane reforming with carbon capture presents a 69.2% likelihood of being the most cost-effective solution, suggesting it is a strong candidate for cost efficiency for the expanded 2028 fleet. Notably, substantial investments are required to increase renewable energy integration in the power grid and to enhance electrolyzer efficiency. These improvements are essential to make the electrolyzer a more competitive alternative to steam methane reforming. Overall, the findings in this paper underscore the substantial impact of the hydrogen supply chain and carbon emission costs on the TCO of zero-emission buses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper demonstrates the enhanced resilience performance of steel structures with viscoelastic friction dampers (VEFDs) based on numerical simulations of building responses. Velocity-dependent dampers, which are widely used to increase seismic resilience, may increase the axial force of the column under strong earthquake conditions because the generated force depends on the interstory velocity. This often leads to plastic hinges being placed on the columns of the structure, which can lead to structural collapse via weak-layer failure. In addition, while viscoelastic dampers are effective in reducing story drift, peak acceleration, and peak velocity, the proposed hybrid VEFD offers the additional benefit of reducing base shear via the friction damper. Simulation results for 10- and 20-story buildings with the novel VEFDs show that the proposed dampers can control drift and plastic deformation in structural members. Nonlinear dynamic analysis of 20 far-fault seismic ground motion records conducted using OpenSees also reveals lower peak absolute floor acceleration and velocity. Overall, the results suggest that the proposed VEFD has excellent potential for use in the performance-based seismic design of structures because it can reduce both structural and nonstructural damage. The results verify the damper's effectiveness in controlling story drift without a significant increase in the base shear. Due to the recent abnormalities in global temperature and increasing carbon emissions, the world is working to reduce carbon emissions. In particular, the construction sector accounts for about 37% of all carbon emissions, so it is one of the areas where sustainable reduction efforts must be made. Therefore, in this paper, an optimal design process was performed by evaluating carbon emissions as the objective function, a choice which differed from the objective function of the existing research used in the optimal design of truss structures. The metaheuristics algorithm used for the process was the advanced crow search algorithm. The levels of carbon emissions generated when the material of a truss structure consisted of a customary material (steel) were compared to scenarios in which timber was used, and a construction scenario centered on the Republic of Korea was established for comparison. The structures used as examples were 10-, 17-, 22-, and 120-bar truss structures. As a result, it was confirmed that truss structures using timber had fewer carbon emissions than structures using steel. In addition, it was confirmed that, even in the same timber structures, domestic timber had fewer carbon emissions than imported timber. This paper examines the impact of family ownership and supervisory board characteristics on carbon emission disclosure. It uses balanced panel data and a matched-pair design of 124 non-financial firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2019. This study finds that family firms and larger boards improve, while female board members harm carbon emission performance. Further analyses reveal non-linear relationships between family ownership and carbon performance. When control rights are limited, family firms prioritize controlling managers and improving carbon quality. Conversely, they prioritize personal objectives over environmental concerns when there are high control rights, resulting in decreased carbon emission performance. Additionally, family board members generate more carbon information, indicating the family owners effectively utilize their position on the supervisory boards to influence the company's carbon emission performance. Finally, the study reports that more faculty member boards seem to hurt carbon emission reduction efforts. This result suggests that the diversity of their professional experiences does not affect the environmental effectiveness of supervisory boards. Our findings highlight the importance of understanding SEW principles and their connection to families in comprehending Indonesian corporate carbon emissions disclosures. The findings of this study enrich the worldwide literature by exploring the potential benefits of family business environmental performance. This study also adds to the literature on corporate governance, especially the role played by supervisory boards. Our findings align with the resource dependence theory, emphasizing the central function of supervisory boards as a monitoring tool. This study is constrained by its reliance on carbon emission data extracted from the annual reports of public firms, with a particular emphasis on pre-COVID-19 data. In this article, a comprehensive analysis is conducted on the influencing factors of carbon emissions in the transportation sector during the evolution of electrification in Beijing. We also considered the impact of indirect carbon emissions caused by carbon emissions from public and private cars and electricity consumption on overall carbon emissions. Based on the LMDI decomposition theory, nine influencing factors are separated, including development level, energy intensity, vehicle structure, number of private cars, and private transportation energy consumption. The analysis results show that, from 2010 to 2021, the carbon emissions from transportation in Beijing increased from 922.98 x 104t to 1490.6 x 104t. The private road carbon emission accounts for about 77.97%, and has become a decisive factor affecting road carbon emissions. In the public domain the contribution values of the development level and energy intensity are 25.20% and -38.71%, respectively. And they are the two most critical factors affecting carbon emissions on public road carbon emissions. In the private domain, the contribution values of the number of private cars, energy consumption of private transportation, and vehicle structure are 60.17%, 47.86%, and -12.99%, respectively. They are the three key factors affecting the private road carbon emissions. There is a significant difference in the proportion of indirect carbon emissions from electricity in the public and private domain. Indirect carbon emissions from electricity account for about 13.6% of road carbon emissions in the public sector, and about 0.9% in the private sector. The results in this paper provide useful references for decisionmaking in the adjustment of transportation energy structure and the promotion of electrified transportation in Beijing and other cities. Diverse demands have promoted the rapid development of the cold chain logistics industry. In the paper, a novel approach for calculating the comprehensive carbon emission cost was proposed and the front warehouse mode was analyzed under the background of energy conservation and emission reduction. To solve the two-echelon low-carbon location-routing problem (2E-LCLRP), a mathematical model considering operating cost, total transportation cost, fixed cost, refrigeration cost, cargo damage cost, and comprehensive carbon emission cost was proposed to determine the minimum total cost. A hybrid ant colony optimization (HACO) algorithm based on an elbow rule and an improved ant colony optimization (IACO) algorithm was proposed to solve the 2E-LCLRP. According to the elbow rule, the optimal number of front warehouses was determined and an IACO algorithm was then designed to optimize vehicle routes. An adaptive hybrid selection strategy and an optimized pheromone update mechanism were integrated into the HACO algorithm to accelerate convergence and obtain global optimal solutions. The proposed model and algorithm were verified through the case study of the 2E-LCLRP in Nanjing, China. The HACO algorithm outperformed the original ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm in terms of convergence rate and solution quality. This study provides significant insights for enhancing heuristic algorithms as well as valuable research methods. The development of electric vehicles (EVs) exhibits rapid and remarkable progress nowadays, serving as a crucial route to accomplish the target of mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. As an integral part of the thermal management system oriented toward electric vehicles, the heat pump air conditioning system for electric vehicles is the result of a comprehensive choice that trades off the cooling and heating performance, environmental performance and economic cost. Particularly, different regions around the world suffer varying cooling and heating challenges due to the complicated climatic characteristics. Thus the most suitable refrigerant and system cycle structure may differ. This paper focuses on evaluating both the refrigerants and cycle structures to screen the most suitable choice. According to the climate conditions of different cities, the annual energy consumption, life cycle climate performance, and economic cost of the basic system (Base), two-stage compression system (TSC,IC), and vapor injection (VI) system with CO2, R134a, and R1234yf refrigerants respectively, are quantitatively analyzed and evaluated. Subsequently, through comparative analysis, a comprehensive selection map for heat pump systems in electric vehicles worldwide is developed and the most suitable heat pump air conditioning system for each cites is determined. The results can provide a selection reference and decision-making for the air conditioning system of electric vehicles from regional considerations. It was found that the CO2 HPACVI was recommended for cold regions to meet both environmental and economic requirements. In warm region, the R1234yf HPACBase system was recommended to be used. Dynamic pricing is a crucial revenue management technique when product status changes over time. It can become more prominent if applied in conjunction with an inventory management strategy for deteriorating items. This paper presents a framework for dynamic pricing in a continuous time horizon for a dual-channel supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer. The manufacturer produces a deteriorating product and sells through direct and indirect retail channels, and both channels compete with each other over retail prices. The freshness of the product varies with time, and thus both channels invest in preservation technology, which further leads to carbon emissions. We derive an analytical solution to the dual-channel pricing model. Furthermore, the case of single-channel pricing has been investigated to study and compare its pricing strategy with the dual-channel pricing strategy. Lastly, a numerical illustration is presented to study the impact of key parameters on optimal decisions through sensitivity analysis. Predicting carbon emissions is important in various sectors, including environmental management, economic planning, and energy policy. Traditional forecasting models typically require extensive training data to achieve high accuracy. However, carbon emission data are usually available on an annual basis, which is insufficient for effectively training conventional forecasting models. To address this challenge, this paper introduces an innovative carbon emissions prediction model that integrates Fibonacci attenuation particle swarm optimization (FAPSO) with the gated recurrent unit (GRU). The FAPSO algorithm is used to optimize the hyperparameters of the GRU, thereby alleviating the decline in prediction accuracy that conventional recurrent neural networks often face when dealing with limited training data. To evaluate the effectiveness of the FAPSO-GRU model, we tested it using carbon emission data from Hainan Province. Compared to the conventional GRU model, the FAPSO-GRU model achieved a significant reduction in the mean absolute error (42.27%), root mean square error (42.38%), and mean absolute percentage error (43.06%). Furthermore, we validated the FAPSO-GRU model with real data from Beijing, Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, and Shanghai. The experimental results convincingly demonstrate that the proposed model provides a highly accurate solution for carbon emission prediction tasks, effectively addressing the limitations posed by limited training data. The carbon emissions generated during the rapid development of the manufacturing industry have caused severe environmental pollution. Research on parallel machine scheduling problems considering carbon emission constraints has started to emerge in recent years to promote sustainable development and achieve low carbon emissions in production. In this paper, we consider an unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem with various carbon emission constraints in different time intervals. A mixed integer linear programming model with the objective of minimising the makespan is formulated to describe the problem accurately. Since the high complexity of our problem, we propose an efficient tabu search algorithm with a dedicated linked list structure to address this problem. Firstly, we generate four initial sequences according to the proposed heuristic rules and apply a greedy insertion decoding method to obtain the scheduling scheme. Then, we employ the 2-swap neighbourhood search strategy to exploit the promising solution space. The proposed model and algorithm are tested on extensive instances generated randomly. To achieve the goals of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", this paper puts forward the connotation and measurement method for the carbon emission intensity of urban industrial land and conducts an empirical study with the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) as an example. We defined the carbon intensity of urban industrial land as the industrial carbon emissions per unit area of land, which is a spatial mapping of urban industrial economic development and carbon spillover and a key indicator for urban and territorial spatial planning oriented towards the "dual carbon" goal. Findings: The carbon emission density of industrial land in the YREB varied greatly between cities and exhibited significant positive spatial autocorrelation. In addition, the geographical pattern and spatio-temporal evolution model of the urban industrial land carbon emission density had a very complex driving mechanism, and different factors had significant synergistic effects. Therefore, it is suggested that while striving towards the goal of "dual carbon", the government should incorporate the carbon emission density indicator of urban industrial land into the urban and territorial spatial planning system, and based on the threshold of the medium suitable density, they should design differentiated management policies according to concrete urban policies and encourage cooperation among cities to jointly promote carbon emission management of urban industrial land. In policy design, emphasis should also be placed on highlighting the interactive effects of foreign direct investment, fiscal expenditure, and the number of patent authorizations as well as constructing a combination of policies centered around them to better leverage the impacts of globalization, government intervention, and innovation. In this paper, we explore the integration of building information modeling (BIM) technology to assess carbon emissions, emphasizing the unique contributions to smart and sustainable approaches in prefabricated buildings and focusing on the application of digital construction strategies facilitated by BIM to evaluate carbon emissions in green prefabricated buildings, with a detailed case study on C-House at Southeast University, Nanjing, China. The research methodology involved creating a BIM model of C-House in Rhino and collecting data from the operationalization phase. This research work delves into analyzing the structural components, on-site assembling process, and evaluation of carbon emissions by using a BIM-based assessment, as well as the energy load and consumption of prefabricated components, including sustainable PV panels, to enhance building efficiency and sustainability. The findings uncover the life cycle of C-House, which spans seven stages, compared with the five stages of conventional builds. Currently in its third cycle, C-House exhibits significant reductions of 70.57% in carbon emissions during the second cycle and 43.53% in the first one. This highlights the pattern showing that the prolonged reuse of prefabricated buildings leads to decreasing emissions over time. Such results underscore the potential carbon emission reductions and environmental advantages of reusing green prefabricated buildings. Furthermore, this study provides insights into the entire life cycle of the building, from inception to occupation and post-phase performance evaluation. The recycling bio-waste shells problem has grown more and more serious in recent years and many efforts have been made to solve this problem. One possible solution is to put these bio-shells into concrete and recycle them as building materials using the aggregate matrix concrete approach. To verify the engineering feasibility, the mechanical properties of bio-shells aggregated concrete were invested via gradient substitution rates at 10%, 30%, and 50% with a total of 78 groups of specimens in this paper. Our results show that the mechanical properties of the concrete were enhanced in maximum flexural strength and maximum compressive. Economic performance was also analyzed and found that the costs of frame-shear structure, frame structure, and tube-in-tube structure were reduced by 10.2%, 10%, and 10.3%. The carbon environmental assessment also shows superiority in the carbon reduction of a single specimen with various rates of the shell. In summary, compared with ordinary concrete materials, it is very possible to use waste bio-shells as a substitute for aggregates to develop the sustainable recycling development of concrete materials. Many regions or countries seek to transition to a low-carbon economy, but there is ambiguity about how carbon emissions change with economic growth. This paper captures characteristics of carbon emissions in China using the Tapio Method. To detect driving factors of carbon emissions in economic growth, we adopt the Log-Mean Divisia Index decomposition method. The results of the paper are as follows: (1) Economic growth in most regions of China has outpaced the growth rate of carbon emissions, showing the characteristics of decoupling. (2) Metropolitan cities have a greater impact on the level of decoupling in neighboring provinces and municipalities. (3) The decoupling of carbon emissions from economic growth is caused by declining energy intensity in China. (4) The energy mix and industrial structure have little impact on the growth rate of carbon emissions. In addition, some policy implications are summarized according to the findings of this paper. This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer in which the manufacturer faces a random production disruption risk. The manufacturer replenishes the unproduced items to fulfil the retailer's order from the secondary market at a higher price. To attract more customers, this paper considers a customer's demand dependent on product selling price, stock level, and freshness level of the fresh items. Furthermore, this paper considers preservation technology investment (PTI) to mitigate the deterioration rate of the items and carbon tax regulation to curb down carbon emissions revealed from the supply chain activities. The Stackelberg game approach with a leader–follower relationship is used considering the manufacturer as a leader and the retailer as a follower. Several theorems are developed to illustrate the concavity of the profit function and to find out the optimal solutions in which the objective is to maximize the manufacturer's total profit subject to the minimum total cost that the retailer is willing to incur. Several numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed models and the obtained results are compared for with and without carbon tax policy. Finally, sensitivity analysis with some key managerial insights is given to demonstrate the model. The results show that a product's freshness level influences consumers' decision to buy more, and that's why the freshness level is an important competitive tool to increase sales as well as the supply chain's total profit. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the publications on carbon emission from inland waters (CEW) in the past 10 years (2011-2020). The study in this paper utilizes the Scopus database, which enables the retrieval of 6303 related documents. The findings of the study showed that the amount of CEW research has consistently increased over the years, and is expected to grow rapidly in the future. China and USA are the top publishing sources on CEW worldwide, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences being the top leading institution. The research in this field has focused on the CO2 source identification, the impact of environmental factors on CEW, the reduction of carbon emissions, as well as the energy usage performance and efficiency. This study aims to analyze and compare the carbon emissions (CE) and energy use patterns of sugarcane crops in different states of India as per the recommended inventories of Indian scientists for maximum sugarcane production. Additionally, this article discusses the possibility of increasing CE and energy consumption (EC) as compared with the present study and implementing low-carbon emission techniques to overcome this issue. The data presented here provides valuable insights for policymakers and researchers seeking to comprehend the carbon and energy footprint associated with sugarcane cultivation. The required data were collected from technical reports, research papers, and discussions with experts. The collected data was processed in an Excel spread sheet to understand the CE and energy use patterns of sugarcane crops. The total CE from used resources for sugarcane production in terms of per ha, per ton of sugarcane, and per year were 4273 kg CO2eq ha−1, 55 kg CO2eq ton−1 and 1616.53 thousand ton CO2eq Y−1, respectively. Similarly, the total energy used for sugarcane cultivation in terms of per ha, per ton of sugarcane, and per year were 36,986.62 MJ ha−1, 13,940.07 TJ Y−1, and 442 MJ ton−1, respectively. The total carbon sequestration per year from the sugarcane was found to be 189,415.7 thousand ton CO2eq Y−1. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka states contributed the highest share of total CE and EC. Nitrogen fertilizer contributed the highest share in the CE and EC from organic fertilizer.
