The use of a reflector can increase the solar radiation on the photovoltaic module (PV) surface, whereby the energy output can be improved. However, the economic feasibility may need to be considered too. This study is conducted, for the first time, due to the lack of studies regarding the economic feasibility assessment of implementing reflectors under the Malaysian meteorological conditions. The outcome will give information about the suitability for implementing a PV reflector in Malaysia through an experimental setup at a sewage treatment site, for two months in 2022. The Malaysian meteorological data, which include daily solar radiation, ambient temperature and wind velocity, were collected to study the output energy, efficiency and the economic perspective of a PV. In February 2022, the PV was operating without a reflector and the averaged values for the monthly solar radiation, ambient temperature and wind velocity were 539.9 MJ/m2, 28.4 °C and 2.2 m/s, respectively, which resulted in an output energy of 106.43 kWh. On the other hand, for April 2022, the PV was operating with a reflector. With the respective averaged input parameters 544.98 MJ/m2, 28.9 °C and 1.51 m/s, the output energy was 121.94 kWh. It is thus shown that the PV with a reflector increases the PV's output energy by 14.57%. Also, it is shown that the cost-effective factor value is 0.955 which means that the PV reflector is economically feasible to be implemented under the Malaysian meteorological conditions. Hence, extensive research should be conducted to improve the performance of PV reflectors. The findings of this paper maybe useful for researchers and/or manufacturers of PV reflectors. Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health concern which results in significant economic burden. Despite this, treatment options are limited. Recently, dapagliflozin has been reported have benefits in people with CKD. This study aimed to evaluate the cost–effectiveness of dapagliflozin as an add-on to standard of care (SoC) in people with CKD in Malaysia. Methods: A Markov model was adapted to estimate the economic and clinical benefits of dapagliflozin in people with Stage 2 to 5 CKD. The cost-effectiveness was performed based upon data from the Dapagliflozin and Prevention of Adverse Outcomes in Chronic Kidney Disease (DAPA-CKD) trial supplemented with local costs and utility data whenever possible. Results: In Malaysia, dapagliflozin in combination with SoC was the dominant intervention compared to SoC alone (RM 81,814 versus RM 85,464; USD19,762 vs USD20,644). Adding dapagliflozin to SoC in people with CKD increased life expectancy by 0.46 years and increased quality-adjusted life years (QALY) by 0.41 in comparison with SoC alone (10.01 vs. 9.55 years, 8.76 vs. 8.35 QALYs). This translates to a saving of RM8,894 (USD2,148) with every QALY gained. The benefits were due to the delay in CKD progression, resulting in lower costs of dialysis and renal transplantation. Results were robust to variations in assumptions over disease management costs as well as subgroup of population that would be treated and below the accepted willingness-to-pay thresholds of RM 46,000/QALY. Conclusion: The use of dapagliflozin was projected to improved life expectancy and quality of life among people with CKD, with a saving RM8,894 (USD2,148) for every quality-adjusted life-year gained and RM7,898 (USD1,908) saving for every life year gained. INTRODUCTION Tobacco epidemic is a global public health concern, killing more than 8 million people annually. Individual therapy is the standard of care of behavioral intervention for smoking cessation in Malaysia and group-based therapy for smoking cessation is an alternative to behavioral intervention commonly used in the western population effectively. The study explored the feasibility and efficacy of group-based therapy for smoking cessation for smokers who want to quit smoking at a quit smoking clinic and community centers in an urban setting in Malaysia. METHODS A total of 40 participants who were active smokers and fulfilled the criteria were recruited for the study at the quit smoking clinic. Participants were given behavioral support based on the GBT-M module and individually for 7 weeks with both groups receiving behavioral intervention plus pharmacotherapy. RESULTS The median age of participants was 48 years for individual therapy and 45 years for group therapy. Group-based therapy was comparable to individual therapy in smoking abstinence outcome at 4 weeks post quit date (35% vs 30%). CONCLUSIONS Group-based therapy was equally effective compared to individual therapy, similar to the western population. Using a group format should allow more people to be treated by a therapist, and therefore could be more costeffective.
