Background: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a fetal protein that can indicate congenital anomalies such as Down syndrome and spinal canal blockage when detected at abnormal levels in pregnant women. Current AFP detection methods rely on invasive blood or serum samples, which require sophisticated equipment. From the many solutions proposed, colorimetric paper-based assays excel in point-of-care settings. The concept of paper-based ELISA (p-ELISA) enhances traditional methods, aligning with the ASSURED criteria for diagnostics in resource-limited regions. Despite success in microfluidic paper-based assay devices, laser printing remains underexplored for p-ELISA. Additionally, modifying the paper surface provides an additional layer of sensitivity enhancement., Results: In this study, we developed a novel laser-printed paper-based ELISA (LP-pELISA) for rapid, sensitive, and noninvasive detection of AFP in saliva samples. The LP-pELISA platform was fabricated by printing hydrophobic barriers on filter paper using a laser printer, followed by depositing hydroxyapatite (HAp) as an immobilization material for the antibodies. The colorimetric detection was achieved using AuNPs functionalized with anti-AFP antibodies and silver nitrate enhancement. The LP-pELISA exhibited a linear response for AFP detection in both buffer and saliva samples over a range of 1.0-800 ng mL -1 , with a limit of detection (LOD) reaching 1.0 ng mL -1 . The assay also demonstrated good selectivity, repeatability, reproducibility, and stability. A one-shot CO 2 laser-based strategy to generate conductive reduced graphene oxide (rGO) decorated with nanoceria (nCe) is proposed. The 2D/0D rGO-nCe films, integrated as catalytic sensing layers in paper-based sensors, were employed for on-site monitoring of indoor fogging treatments against Listeria monocytogenes (Lm), a ubiquitous pathogenic bacterium. The rGO-nCe laser-assisted synthesis was optimized to preserve the rGO film morphological and electron-transfer features and simultaneously integrate catalytic nCe. The films were characterized by microscopical (SEM), spectroscopical (EDX, Raman, and FTIR), and electrochemical techniques. The most performing film was integrated into a nitrocellulose substrate, and the complete sensor was assembled via a combination of xurography and stencil printing. The rGO-nCe sensor's catalytic activity was proved toward the detection of H 2 O 2 , obtaining sensitive determination (LOD = 0.3 µM) and an extended linear range (0.5-1500 µM). Eventually, the rGO-nCe sensor was challenged for the real-time continuous monitoring of hydrogen peroxide aerosol during no-touch fogging treatment conducted following the EU's recommendation for biocidal product use. Treatment effectiveness was proved toward three Lm strains characterized by different origins, i.e., type strain ATCC 7644, clinical strain 338, and food strain 641/6II. Excessive emissions of heavy metals not only cause environmental pollution but also pose a direct threat to human health. Therefore, rapid and accurate detection of heavy metals in the environment is of great significance. Herein, we propose a method based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) combined with filter paper modified with bovine serum albumin-protected gold nanoclusters (LIBS-FP-AuNCs) for the rapid and sensitive detection of Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ . The filter paper modified with AuNCs was used to selectively enrich Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ . Combined with the multi-element detection capability of LIBS, this method achieved the simultaneous rapid detection of Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ . Both elements showed linear ranges for concentrations of 10-1000 μg L -1 , with limits of detection of 7.5 and 9.0 μg L -1 for Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ , respectively. This method was successfully applied to the determination of Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ in real water samples, with satisfactory recoveries ranging from 94.6% to 105.1%. Since its introduction in 2014, laser-induced graphene (LIG) from commercial polymers has been gaining interests in both academic and industrial sectors. This can be clearly seen from its mass adoption in various fields ranging from energy storage and sensing platforms to biomedical applications. LIG is a 3-dimensional, nanoporous graphene structure with highly tuneable electrical, physical, and chemical properties. LIG can be easily produced by single-step laser scribing at normal room temperature and pressure using easily accessible commercial level laser machines and materials. With the increasing demand for novel wearable devices for biomedical applications, LIG on flexible substrates can readily serve as a technological platform to be further developed for biomedical applications such as point-of-care (POC) testing and wearable devices for healthcare monitoring system. This review will provide a comprehensive grounding on LIG from its inception and fabrication mechanism to the characterization of its key functional properties. The exploration of biomedicals applications in the form of wearable and point-of-care devices will then be presented. Issue of health risk from accidental exposure to LIG will be covered. Then LIG-based wearable devices will be compared to devices of different materials. Finally, we discuss the implementation of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to wearable devices and explore and speculate on its potentials and challenges., (© 2024. Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), as a hepatotoxin, can cause liver swelling, hepatitis, and even liver cancer. In this study, MC-LR aptamer (Apt-3) modified graphene oxide (GO) was designed to enrich MC-LR in white jade snail (Achatina fulica) and pond water, followed by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) analysis. Results indicated that the Apt-3/PEG/GO nanocomposites were highly specific to MC-LR, and the detection limit of MALDI-MS was 0.50 ng/mL. Moreover, the MC-LR can be released from nanocomposites at 75°C, thus, the reuse of Apt-3/PEG/GO is realized. Real sample analysis indicated that the Apt-3/PEG/GO nanocomposites coupled with MALDI-MS were efficient in detecting trace amounts of MC-LR in real samples. Development of high‐precision RGB patterning process is needed to implement high‐resolution micro display (OLEDoS) for next‐generation VR/AR products. In general, specially designed and manufactured masks are required to realize above 3,000ppi high‐resolution display in structured OLED material deposition. In this study, we implemented direct laser patterning IR‐fs optical system operating in MHz and GHz burst modes and evaluated its capability for precise micro‐drilling of alumino‐borosilicate glass materials. The fine hole‐shaped pattern is produced at a minimum of 5µm pitch level for about 0.6 inch area without sacrificing the glass strength. In a long-distance wireless power transmission system with a non-uniform distribution of laser irradiation, it will significantly reduce the output power of the photovoltaic array, resulting in a large amount of power loss in the system and a decrease in conversion efficiency. This paper proposes an efficient and reliable optimal circuit connection algorithm for the 5 × 5 scale photovoltaic array. Under the laser illumination of 300 W, a 20 m wireless power transmission experiment was performed on four 5 × 5 scale photovoltaic arrays. In this paper, the growth of transverse-longitudinal coupled electromagnetic modes in the interaction of high-intensity lasers with dense plasma investigated. Using kinetic theory and solving the scattering relationship for the Vlasov-Maxwell system, the collision effects on the growth of the electromagnetic mode are studied. The anisotropic distribution function considers the effects of body stress due to laser ponderomotive force and plasma density gradient. The results show that a 99% reduction in frequency in the beam path in dense plasma leads to an 88% increase in unstable modes’ growth rate. Increasing the density prevents immediate cessation and enhances the growth of unstable modes. Increasing the density gradient by 99%, the instability rate maximum will increase by 88%. Overall, this paper provides insights into the effects of collision and anisotropic distribution function on the growth of transverse-longitudinal coupled electromagnetic modes in dense plasma. Pavement adhesion plays a crucial role in driving safety, while traditional test methods exhibit some limitations. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of asphalt pavement texture characterization and adhesion assessments, this paper uses three-dimensional (3D) laser technology to detect the continuous point cloud data of road surface and reconstruct the 3D topography of pavement texture. On this basis, a volume parameter Volume of peak materials (Vmp) is innovatively proposed to comprehensively characterize the 3D spatial characteristics of road surface texture. The correlation analysis between the proposed Vmp and the traditional adhesion evaluation index Transversal Adhesion Coefficient (CAT) is conducted, and then refined graded adhesion prediction models based on the proposed Vmp are proposed. Results show that the proposed volume parameter Vmp can reliably and accurately characterize the asphalt pavement texture by considering more structural properties of the road surface texture. According to the research findings of this paper, it is feasible to achieve rapid and correct assessment of asphalt pavement adhesion using 3D laser detection technology by comprehensively considering the 3D characteristics of the road surface texture. Si is opaque to visible light, but transparent to infrared rays. Therefore, when the infrared laser is focused inside Si, the focal portion becomes ultra-hot, forming a modified volume (Laser induced modified volume: LIMV) inside. After the laser beam is injected into the Si wafer at equal intervals (for example, 5 µm) in the cross direction, and then a force is applied from the outside. Then, cracks are formed from LIMV, and the Si wafer is divided into small pieces of 5 µm square. This is the stealth dicing (SD) technology, which is now widely used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. In this process, clarifying the nature of LIMV is of great industrial and academic significance. The authors have been engaged in elucidating the mechanism of LIMV development by TEM observation. This paper introduces an autonomous robot designed for in-pipe structural health monitoring of oil/gas pipelines. This system employs a 3D Optical Laser Scanning Technical Vision System (TVS) to continuously scan the internal surface of the pipeline. This paper elaborates on the mathematical methodology of 3D laser surface scanning based on dynamic triangulation. This paper presents the mathematical framework governing the combined kinematics of the Mobile Robot (MR) and TVS. It discusses the custom design of the MR, adjusting it to use of robustized mathematics, and incorporating a laser scanner produced using a 3D printer. Both experimental and theoretical approaches are utilized to illustrate the formation of point clouds during surface scanning. This paper details the application of the simple and robust mathematical algorithm RANSAC for the preliminary processing of the measured point clouds. Furthermore, it contributes two distinct and simplified criteria for detecting defects in pipelines, specifically tailored for computer processing. The proliferation of drug-resistant bacteria and infections such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) pose a serious challenge to global healthcare. Photothermal therapy (PTT) is becoming a highly effective antimicrobial method. Compared with near infrared I (NIR-I), near infrared II (NIR-II) has deeper penetration depth, less light scattering and higher maximum permissible exposure (MPE). The selection of a photothermal agent (PTA) and laser parameters is important. Three kinds of MXenes, Nb2C, Ti3C2 and V2C, were prepared in this paper, and the extinction coefficient and photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) of NIR-I and NIR-II were compared. The extinction coefficient of Ti3C2 (26.23 L g−1 cm−1) at 808 nm was greater than those of Nb2C (24.38 L g−1 cm−1) and V2C (19.43 L g−1 cm−1). However, V2C had a higher temperature than Nb2C at 808 nm due to its high PCE (49.26%). Nb2C had a higher extinction coefficient (24.99 L g−1 cm−1) and PCE (45.55%) at 1064 nm, resulting in the highest temperature change. High extinction coefficient and high PCE are the two important factors for an excellent PTA. To reduce laser power used in the treatment, NIR-II laser and a gelation strategy for MXenes were used. The prepared Nb2C/Gel could be rapidly heated to 62 °C at a laser power of 0.112 W (lower than MPE), and the sterilization rate for MRSA was 92.48%. A NIH-3T3 cell activity study showed that the prepared Nb2C had good biocompatibility. Nb2C/Gel has excellent antibacterial properties and it is expected that a rapid, efficient and safe biological antimicrobial strategy against bacterial infections can be established using Nb2C/Gel, especially for drug-resistant bacterial infections. Receiving inspection plays a crucial role in ensuring construction quality after the completion of engineering projects. Traditional inspection measurement methods, such as manual observation means and optical equipment measurement methods, have limitations in terms of the number of measurement sites and the range of measurements. These traditional methods fail to provide accurate curve parameters and continuous spatial morphology information for large-span curved bridge structures. In the following paper, the numerical analysis of thermal processes occurring in biological tissue with uncertain parameters is presented. The heat transfer model is based on the Pennes equation, where interval heat sources are introduced. The model is assumed to be transient and one-dimensional. Additionally, analysed tissue is exposed to laser irradiation, and the internal heat sources resulting from laser irradiation based on the Beer law are taken into account. Moreover, the perfusion rate and the effective scattering coefficient are treated as variables dependent on tissue damage. For numerical calculations, the interval version of the Finite Pointset Method has been used. All calculations are performed due to the direct interval arithmetic rules. Optical beam propagation through the atmosphere is suffering from turbulence condition and scattering due to the refractive index effects on propagation. In this paper, we study optical beam propagation under the UAE's weather conditions. An outdoor test was carried out to gather the atmosphere parameters (temperature, wind, humidity, and refractive index) and feed them to a beam propagation model. Based on the laser flash method, the selection of experimental parameters on the accuracy of measurement results for measuring thermal diffusivity is investigated in this paper. High purity graphite is employed as the experimental material. Three experimental parameters are taken into consideration, including specimen thickness, laser pulse power, and laser pulse width. Firstly, the principle of the laser flash method is introduced. Then, a numerical simulation model is established and independence tests are performed. In order to investigate the impact of different experimental parameters to the precision of the measurement results using the laser flash method, six thicknesses of the specimens, five laser pulse powers, and five laser pulse widths are selected for numerical simulation and LFA 427 measurement experiments. Finally, an orthogonal design method with three-factor and three-level is constructed to investigate the influence degree of these three factors on the measurement results. It is found that the laser pulse width has the most significant influence, while the laser pulse power has the least impact. For high purity graphite specimens, it is required to choose a thicker specimen, a lower laser pulse power, and a smaller laser pulse width to ensure better measurement accuracy. This paper describes and discusses the results of scientific experiences of the physical and mechanical methods used to control and inhibit the growth of lichens and biofilms that grow on indoor and outdoor historical stone artworks. It provides an extensive selection and examination of international papers published in the last two decades on the issue. The great advantage of physical and mechanical methods lies in the lack of potential risks associated with the irreversible application of microbicides. Indeed, they do not introduce any harmful chemicals to humans, to the environment, or to heritage objects. This review focuses on the application of (i) electromagnetic radiation, (ii) high temperatures, (iii) lasers, and (iv) mechanical tools, and includes the main achievements, limitations, and potential applications of the examined studies. Background: Nitrofurazone (NFZ) is a widely-used antimicrobial agent in aquaculture. The NFZ residue can be transmitted to humans through the food chain, and cause adverse health effects including carcinogenesis and teratogenesis. Until now, a number of modified electrodes have been developed for NFZ detection, however, there are some issues that need to be improved. For example, the reported detection sensitivity is relatively low, the modification procedure is complicated, and conventional three-electrode system is used. Therefore, it is quite important to develop new NFZ detection method with higher sensitivity, simplicity and practicality., Results: Herein, a kind of integrated three-electrode array consisted with porous graphene is easily prepared through laser engraving of commercial polyimide tape. Five kinds of graphene arrays were prepared at different laser power percentage (i.e. 30 %, 40 %, 50 %, 60 % and 70 %). It is found that their structure, morphology, fluffiness and porosity show great difference, consequently affecting the electrochemical performance of graphene arrays such as conductivity, active area and electron transfer ability. The engraved graphene array at 50 % laser power percentage (LIG-50 array) is superior owing to uniform 3D structure, abundant pores and high stability. More importantly, LIG-50 array is more active for NFZ oxidation, and significantly enhances the detection sensitivity. The linear range of LIG-50 sensor is from 0.2 to 8 μM, and the detection limit is 0.035 μM, which is successfully used in fish meat samples., Significance: A sensitive, portable and practical electrochemical sensor has been successfully developed for NFZ using laser-engraved graphene array. Medicines remain ineffective for over 50% of patients due to conventional mass production methods with fixed drug dosages. Three-dimensional (3D) printing, specifically selective laser sintering (SLS), offers a potential solution to this challenge, allowing the manufacturing of small, personalized batches of medication. Despite its simplicity and suitability for upscaling to large-scale production, SLS was not designed for pharmaceutical manufacturing and necessitates a time-consuming, trial-and-error adaptation process. In response, this study introduces a deep learning model trained on a variety of features to identify the best feature set to represent drugs and polymeric materials for the prediction of the printability of drug-loaded formulations using SLS. The proposed model demonstrates success by achieving 90% accuracy in predicting printability. Furthermore, explainability analysis unveils materials that facilitate SLS printability, offering invaluable insights for scientists to optimize SLS formulations, which can be expanded to other disciplines. This represents the first study in the field to develop an interpretable, uncertainty-optimized deep learning model for predicting the printability of drug-loaded formulations. Proper customization in size and shape is essential in implantable bioelectronics for stable bio-signal recording. Over the past decades, many researchers have heavily relied on conventional photolithography processes to fabricate implantable bioelectronics. Therefore, they could not avoid the critical limitation of high cost and complex processing steps to optimize bioelectronic devices for target organs with various sizes and shapes. Here, we propose rapid prototyping using all laser processes to fabricate customized bioelectronics. PEDOT:PSS is selectively irradiated by an ultraviolet (UV) pulse laser to form wet-stable conductive hydrogels that can softly interact with biological tissues (50 μm line width). The encapsulation layer is selectively patterned using the same laser source by UV-curing polymer networks (110 μm line width). For high stretchability (over 100%), mesh structures are made by the selective laser cutting process. Our rapid prototyping strategy minimizes the use of high-cost equipment, using only a single UV laser source to process the electrodes, encapsulation, and substrates that constitute bioelectronics without a photomask, enabling the prototyping stretchable microelectrode array with an area of 1 cm 2 less than 10 min. In the 1960s, the demonstration of interference effects using two laser-beams raised the question: can two photons interfere? Its plausibility contested Dirac's dictum, "Interference between two different photons never occurs". Disagreements about this conflict led to a controversy. This paper will chart the controversy's contour and show that it evolved over two phases. Subsequently, I investigate the reasons for its perpetuation. The controversy was initiated and fuelled by several misinterpretations of the dictum. I also argue that Dirac's dictum is not applicable to two photon interference as they belong to different contexts of interference. Polyamide 12 (PA12) is vastly utilized in many additive manufacturing methods, such as Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and a better understanding of its mechanical behaviors promotes available knowledge on the behaviors of 3D-printed parts made from this polymer. In this paper, SLS-produced standard tensile specimens are studied under monotonic and cyclic tension tests, as well as stress relaxation experiments, and the obtained force-displacement responses are shown to be consistent with a hyper-viscoelastic material model. This finding is also observed in typical pantographic structures produced by the same manufacturing parameters. To propose a constitutive model for predicting these behaviors, the convolution integral of a strain-dependent function and a time-dependent function is developed where the material parameters are determined with the use of both short-term and long-term responses of the specimens. Numerical results of the presented model for standard test specimens are shown to be in good agreements with the experimental ones under various loading conditions. Aggregation of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) is the driving force for their undesirable immunogenic effects. There are multiple factors responsible for aggregation in therapeutic proteins. One significant cause is the process-related shear and interfacial stress generated due to impellers and stirrers. This investigation focuses on understanding the possible aggregation arising upon stirring mAb formulations using stirrers made of different materials. We used quantitative laser diffraction (qLD) to monitor and quantify the stirring induced formation of submicron and subvisible aggregates in the size range from 100 nm to 10 µm. We analysed various aspects of aggregate generation, such as onset of aggregation, particle size distribution, and concentration of aggregates generated using stirrers of different materials. We observed that mixing with stainless steel stirrers resulted in a quicker onset of aggregation and led to significantly higher concentrations of aggregates. Analysis of the stirred samples using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and background imaging technique (BMI) were conducted to complement the qLD analysis. All the three techniques resulted in a similar trend, showing presence of larger and higher quantities of aggregates in steel stirred samples, as compared to those stirred using PEEK and glass. Additionally, we performed SEC-HPLC to quantify the soluble fraction of monomer and recorded that the least amount was present in the steel stirred samples. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), commonly employed for early diagnosis of liver cancer, serves as a biomarker for cancer screening and diagnosis. Combining the high sensitivity and specificity of fluorescence immunoassay (FIA), developing a low-cost and efficient immunoassay system for AFP detection holds significant importance in disease diagnosis. In this work, we developed a miniaturized oblique laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) immunoassay system, coupled with a microfluidic PMMA/paper hybrid chip, for rapid detection of AFP. The system employed an avalanche photodiode (APD) as the detector, and implemented multi-level filtering in the excitation light channel using the dichroic mirror and optical trap. At first, we employed the Savitzky-Golay filter and baseline off-set elimination methods to denoise and normalize the original data. Then the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter and the reverse voltage of the APD were optimized to enhance the detection sensitivity of the system. Furthermore, the effect of laser power on the fluorescence excitation efficiency was investigated, and the sampling time during the scanning process was optimized. Finally, a four-parameter logistic (4PL) model was utilized to establish the concentration-response equation for AFP. The system was capable of detecting concentrations of AFP standard solution within the range of 1-500 ng/mL, with a detection limit of 0.8 ng/mL. The entire immunoassay process could be completed within 15 min. The possibility of laser isotope separation of 175 Yb from irradiated natural Yb has been investigated. The optimum process parameters such as powers and bandwidths of the lasers, Doppler broadening and the number density of the atoms have been derived through density matrix calculations. It has been shown that it is possible to produce 175 Yb (>42% enriched) at a production rate of 62 μg/hour (or 1.5 mg/day). This corresponds to the production rate of 1350 patient doses (of 7.4 GBq each) per day. The radionuclidic purity of the isotopic mixture is expected to be 99.9999%. Serial femtosecond X-ray crystallography has emerged as a powerful method for investigating biomolecular structure and dynamics. With the new generation of X-ray free-electron lasers, which generate ultrabright X-ray pulses at megahertz repetition rates, we can now rapidly probe ultrafast conformational changes and charge movement in biomolecules. Over the last year, another innovation has been the deployment of Frontier, the world's first exascale supercomputer. Synergizing extremely high repetition rate X-ray light sources and exascale computing has the potential to accelerate discovery in biomolecular sciences. Herein, we report a multifaceted nanoformulation, developed by binding thionine acetate (TA) in silica matrix to form TA loaded silica nanoparticles (STA Nps), which were characterized using various physicochemical techniques. STA NPs were spherical shaped having size 40-50 nm and exhibited good heating efficiency, improved photostability and singlet oxygen production rate than TA alone. In PDT experiment, the rate of degradation for ABDMA was enhanced from 0.1367 min -1 for TA alone to 0.1774 min -1 for STA Nps, depicting an increase in the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation ability of STA Nps. Further, the cytotoxicity of STA Nps was investigated by carrying out the biophysical studies with Calf thymus DNA (Ct-DNA) and Human Serum Albumin (HSA). The results indicated that the binding of STA Nps to Ct-DNA causes alterations in the double helix structure of DNA and as a result, STA Nps can impart chemotherapeutic effects via targeting DNA. STA Nps showed good binding affinity with HSA without compromising the structure of HSA, which is important for STA Nps sustainable biodistribution and pharmacokinetics. Since the mechanism underlying real-time acquisition of mechanical strength during laser-induced skin wound fusion remains unclear, and collagen is the primary constituent of skin tissue, this study investigates the structural and mechanical alterations in collagen at temperatures ranging from 40 °C to 60 °C using various spectroscopic techniques and molecular dynamics calculations. The COMSOL Multiphysics coupling is employed to simulate the three-dimensional temperature field, stress-strain relationship, and light intensity distribution in the laser thermal affected zone of skin wounds during dual-beam laser welding process. Raman spectroscopy, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy and circular dichroism measurement results confirm that laser energy activates biological activity in residues, leading to a transformation in the originally fractured structure of collagen protein for enhanced mechanical strength. Molecular dynamics simulations reveal that stable hydrogen bonds form at amino acid residues within the central region of collagen protein when the overall temperature peak around the wound reaches 60 °C, thereby providing stability to previously fractured skin incisions and imparting instantaneous strength. However, under a 55 °C system, Type I collagen ensures macrostructural stability while activating biological properties at amino acid bases to promote wound healing function; this finding aligns with experimental analysis results. The COMSOL simulation outcomes also correspond well with macroscopic morphology after laser welding samples, confirming that by maintaining temperatures between 55 °C-60 °C during laser welding of skin incisions not only can certain instantaneous mechanical strength be achieved but irreversible thermal damage can also be effectively controlled. In the field of inter-satellite laser communication, achieving high-quality communication and compensating for the Doppler frequency shift caused by relative motion necessitate lasers with narrow linewidths, low phase noise, and the ability to achieve mode-hop-free tuning within a specific range. To this end, this paper investigates a novel external cavity diode laser (ECDL) with a frequency-selective F-P etalon structure, leveraging the external cavity F-P etalon structure in conjunction with an auxiliary filter to achieve single longitudinal mode selection. The laser undergoes linewidth testing using a delayed self-heterodyne beating method, followed by the testing of its phase noise and frequency noise characteristics using a noise analyzer, yielding beat spectra and noise power spectral density profiles. Furthermore, the paper introduces an innovative bidirectional temperature-scanning laser method to achieve optimal laser-operating point selection and mode-hop-free tuning. The experimental results showcase that the single longitudinal mode spectral side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) is around 70 dB, and the output power exceeds 10 mW. Enhancing the precision of the F-P etalon leads to a more pronounced suppression of low-frequency phase noise, reducing the Lorentzian linewidth from the initial 10 kHz level to a remarkable 5 kHz level. This paper presents a novel approach—an efficient closed-form approximation iterative fitting algorithm based on laser absorption spectra. Through this closed-form approximation iterative fitting, key parameters such as peak value, spectral line width, and normalized signal area serve as indicators for iteration completion, improving the speed without compromising accuracy. Furthermore, it employs the spectral signal of n cycles as a window for further processing, minimizing external interference. The results show that the proposed method averages 9.75 iterations, while the Levenberg–Marquardt fitting method averages 60.17 iterations. The average iteration time for the proposed method is 588.83 ms, a substantial 81.7% reduction compared to the 3210.5 ms required by the Levenberg–Marquardt fitting. A new segmentation and topology denoising method is proposed wherein the laser scanning three-dimensional (3-D) point cloud data and datum points are extracted. The laser scanned 3-D point cloud model is cut in the horizontal plane. The minimum distance between the point cloud data on the horizontal cutting plane and the geodesic line of the datum point is the feature points. The skeleton of the 3-D point cloud model is constituted by the feature points and the point cloud data are segmented according to the skeleton feature points. In the 3-D space of laser scanning point cloud data the original point cloud is transformed in two-dimensional (2-D) space by the spatial topological mapping function. The distance weight is computed by segmented point cloud data. In the process of topological transformation, combining with the distance weight of the sampling point, the topology transformation function is built. The noise point and the non-noise point can be separated by the topology transformation. The large-scale noise points are removed by comparison with a set threshold. The fairing direction of small scale noise is calculated according to the curvature and point cloud density. The small scale noise point is moved along the fairing direction to achieve the effect of denoising of the point cloud data. Laser marking is the process to mark an image by utilizing laser thermal energy used primarily for product identifications and traceability. It is versatile and well known process employed by the manufacturers to mark various materials. The mark produced by a fibre laser beam produces one of the fine marking components and it is well accepted form of marking used nowadays. The research paper revealed that laser beam marking quality is the function of various input controlling factors like laser spot size, transverse feed, scan rate, laser power which had a significant impact on quality attributes. The paper focuses on the creation of better quality equilateral triangular-shaped laser inscribed image on grade 304 stainless steel surface in a shortest possible time. The process variables involved in the present study includes pulse rate, duty cycle, laser power, and scan rate which were varied one at a time for obtaining better marking quality characteristics like high mark quality, closer to target mark angle and less deviation of marked area. To summarise research studies on scar laser therapy since the 21st century using bibliometric methods, and to speculate on the possible development in the future. The literature about scar laser therapy in Web of Science database was searched. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analyse main countries, institutions, journals，subject hotspots and trends, etc. A total of 884 papers have been published since the 21st century. These publications were written by 653 authors from 515 institutions in 58 countries. The United States published 287 papers in this field and ranks first. Laser in Surgery and Medicine is the most widely published journal, with Shumaker as the core author. The main keyword clustering includes terms such as combination therapy, wound healing, fractional photothermolysis, experience, scar formation, etc. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to sort out and summarise the countries, institutions, authors, journals, research hotspots and frontier topics of related literature about scar laser therapy since the 21st century. The current situation of its application and basic scientific research in clinical treatments were summarised briefly. This paper analyzes the effects of laser linewidth on the performance of eight-channel dual-polarization quadrature phase-shift keying (DP-QPSK) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission at 50 GHz channel spacing. The performance of differential encoding and Gray coding is compared with the system without any coding for the DP-QPSK DWDM system. It is shown that the differentially-encoded system performs better for lasers with linewidth (∆ν) greater than 0.04 MHz compared to the system with Gray coding and system without any coding. However, for lasers with linewidth lesser than 0.04 MHz, the three systems considered here perform equally and there is no need for differential or Gray coding in such a case. It is also shown that if we apply frequency offset estimation (FOE) before adaptive equalization (AE) in the digital coherent receiver then it further improve the performance of the differentially encoded system with lasers sources having linewidth even greater than 0.1 MHz. Laser sintering, known as powder bed fusion-laser beam (PBF-LB), offers promising potential for the fabrication of patient-specific drugs. The aim of this study was to provide an insight into the PBF-LB process with regard to the process parameters, in particular the laser hatching distance, and its influence on the properties of zolpidem tartrate (ZT) tablets. PHARMACOAT® 603 was used as the polymer, while Candurin® Gold Sheen and AEROSIL® 200 were added to facilitate 3D printing. The particle size distribution of the powder blend showed that the layer height should be set to 100 µm, while the laser hatching distance was varied in five different steps (50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 µm), keeping the temperature and laser scanning speed constant. Increasing the laser hatching distance and decreasing the laser energy input led to a decrease in the colour intensity, mass, density and hardness of the ZT tablets, while the disintegration and dissolution rate were faster due to the more fragile bonds between the particles. The laser hatching distance also influenced the ZT dosage, indicating the importance of this process parameter in the production of presonalized drugs. This paper introduces a novel application of the laser speckle technique in dentistry, focusing on assessing the efficiency of dental excavation methods used to remove decayed tooth structure. The aim is to evaluate the efficiency of two chemo-mechanical agents and the high-speed drill using the laser speckle technique, which offers objective, non-invasive, and real-time evaluation capabilities. Extracted human primary molars with active occlusal carious lesions were sectioned into three parts, with each part allocated to one of three groups: Group 1 (Brix3000 ® ), Group 2 (Papacarie DUO ® ), and Group 3 (High-speed drill mechanical caries removal). Caries removal was performed using the designated agent or method for each group. After caries excavation, speckle imaging using a 632.8 nm laser was conducted. Additionally, SEM was used to acquire micro-photographs of the surface morphology of the treated samples. The findings reveal insights into the comparative efficiency of the three dental excavation agents and methods using the laser speckle technique. The speckle parameters extracted from speckle patterns generated by treated teeth provide valuable information for evaluating the performance of the excavation methods. The scanning electron microscopy images also offer detailed visual evidence to support the analysis. This paper demonstrates the potential of the laser speckle technique for assessing the efficiency of dental excavation methods. Flexible and stretchable heaters are increasingly recognized for their great potential in wearable thermotherapy to treat muscle spasms, joint injuries and arthritis. However, issues like lengthy processing, high fabrication cost, and toxic chemical involvement are obstacles on the way to popularize stretchable heaters for medical use. Herein, using a single-step customizable laser fabrication method, we put forward the design of cost-effective wearable laser-induced graphene (LIG) heaters with kirigami patterns, which offer multimodal stretchability and conformal fit to the skin around the human body. First, we develop the manufacturing process of the LIG heaters with three different kirigami patterns enabling reliable stretchability by out-of-plane buckling. Then, by adjusting the laser parameters, we confirm that the LIG produced by medium laser power could maintain a balance between mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. By optimizing cutting-spacing ratios through experimental measurements of stress, resistance and temperature profiles, as well as finite element analysis (FEA), we determine that a larger cutting-spacing ratio within the machining precision will lead to better mechanical, electrical and heating performance. The optimized stretchable heater in this paper could bear significant unidirectional strain over 100% or multidirectional strain over 20% without major loss in conductivity and heating performance. On-body tests and fatigue tests also proved great robustness in practical scenarios. With the advantage of safe usage, simple and customizable fabrication, easy bonding with skin, and multidirectional stretchability, the on-skin heaters are promising to substitute the traditional heating packs/wraps for thermotherapy.

Process Analytical Technology (PAT) plays a crucial role in the design of today's manufacturing lines as continuous manufacturing becomes more important. Until now PAT tools to measure the ribbon solid fraction (SF ribbon ) in-line are not commonly used in roll compaction. The aim of this study was therefore to establish a new approach as PAT for in-line ribbon solid fraction determination. Different placebo formulations with different binders and one formulation containing active pharmaceutical ingredient were investigated using in-line laser triangulation measurement to detect the ribbon thickness after compaction. With this the ribbon elastic recovery was determined in-line (ER in-line ) while the ribbons are attached to the roll surface. It was found that the ratio (ER ratio ) between the total elastic recovery and ER in-line is formulation specific and not influenced by any process parameters. This enables ER ratio as prediction tool for SF ribbon , if the solid fraction at gap (SF gap ) width is known. SF gap was determined with ribbon mass flow measurement or based on the Midoux model, a simplified Johanson model, gaining two prediction models for SF ribbon . Whole milk powder and skimmed milk powder are suitable for different groups of people due to their differences in composition. Therefore, a rapid classification method for whole milk powder and skimmed milk powder is urgently needed. In this paper, a novel strategy based on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and feature processing methods combined with logistic regression (LR) was constructed for the classification of milk powder. A LR classification model based on mini-batch gradient descent (MGD) was employed first. As indicated by the research results, the accuracy of the MGD-LR model for the milk powder samples in the test set is 96.33% and the modeling time is 33.07 s. The modeling efficiency is low and needs to be improved. Principal components analysis (PCA) and mutual information (MI) were used as feature processing methods to reduce the high dimensional LIBS data into fewer features for improving the modeling efficiency of the classification model. The research results indicate that the accuracy of the PCA-MGD-LR model and the MI-MGD-LR model for the test set of milk powder samples was 99.33% and 99.67%, respectively. Compared with MGD-LR model, the modeling efficiency of PCA-MGD-LR and MI-MGD-LR models has increased by 89.7% and 74.8%, respectively. Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) involves the coupling of multiple physical fields at different scales. Capturing the dynamic flow and thermal behavior of the melt pool during the L-PBF process through experimentation and predicting its quality is challenging, thus numerical simulation becomes a valuable method. The simulation results enable the prediction and assessment of the impact of material and process parameter changes on the quality of the final product. This paper reviews the methods for selecting appropriate models, performing simulation calculations, and analyzing the results. This paper makes several noteworthy contributions. It provides a comprehensive summary of the physical model, heat loss model, required heat source for simulations, and stresses generated within the melt pool. Furthermore, it explores the practical applications of L-PBF melt pool simulations, especially in defect analysis and the fabrication of complex structures. Finally, it concludes with an insightful analysis of the current trends in L-PBF simulations and outlines potential research directions to advance the development of melt pool simulations. In this paper, we have studied the influence of laser polarization on the dynamics of the ionization-injected electron beams, and subsequently, the properties of the emitted betatron radiation in laser wakefield accelerators (LWFAs). While ionizing by strong field laser radiation, the generated photo-electrons carry a residual transverse momentum in excess of the ionization potential via the above threshold ionization (ATI) process. This ATI momentum explicitly depends on the polarization state of the ionizing laser and eventually governs the dynamics of the electron beam trapped inside the wake potential. In order to systematically investigate the effect of the laser polarization, here, we have employed complete three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations in the nonlinear bubble regime of the LWFAs. We focus, in particular, on the effects the laser polarization has on the ionization injection mechanism, and how these features affect the final beam properties, such as beam charge, energy, energy spread, and transverse emittance. We have also found that as the laser polarization gradually changes from linear to circular, the helicity of the electron trajectory, and hence the angular momentum carried by the beam, increases significantly. Studies have been further extended to reveal the effect of laser polarization on the radiation emitted by the accelerated electrons. The far-field radiation spectra have been calculated for the linear and circular polarization states of the laser. It has been shown that the spatial distributions and the polarization properties (Stokes parameters) of the emitted radiation in the above two cases are substantially different. Therefore, our study provides a facile and efficient alternative to regulate the properties of the accelerated electron beams and x-ray radiation in LWFAs, utilizing ionization injection mechanism. With the advancing energy transition, icing is a growing problem in the wind turbine sector. The development of systems to detect and mitigate icing makes it necessary to understand its basic behavior and characteristics. This paper proposes a method for the continuous and full-field measurement of the icing process of rotating blades, using a single line laser profile scanner. Inside of a climate chamber, a rotor is driven by a motor, while a system of nozzles provides a fine water dust, which leads to ice accumulating on simple NACA blades, which in turn is measured by a triangulation laser. The measurement data are cleared from outliers and presented as a surface in 3D space. An alpha shape is used to reconstruct and extract the volume of the ice between a reference and a measurement surface, using the corresponding Matlab function. Appropriate input parameters for the function and offsetting of the reference surface to improve the results are compared and discussed. Introduction: The conventional 3-D point cloud-based deformation analysis methods, such as the shortest distance (SD), cloud-to-cloud (C2C), and multiscale model-to-model cloud comparison (M3C2), essentially regard the closest distance between two periods of point cloud data as the deformation, rather than the true position of the same point in 3-D space before and after deformation. Methods: This paper proposes a method based on the ICP algorithm to calculate the differences between the chunked multi-period point clouds to recognizes the 3-D deformations. Results and discussion: The results show that the obtained results are very close to the GNSS data but with a much larger spatial monitoring range. The accuracy is higher than that of the SD method. Moreover, we analyze the statistical relationship between the point cloud block size and the deformation vector error and determine the optimal block size. The aim of this article is to optimize the deformation analysis method and improve its accuracy to provide techniques and ideas for the wider surface deformation monitoring research field. For instance, combining this method with data from contact methods constructs a 3D overall deformation model of the mountain, enabling real-time monitoring and early warning of debris flows. The present paper deals with effect of exponential density transition on self-focusing of amplitude-modulated laser in plasma. Density of plasma changes due to the ponderomotive nonlinearity which comes into play due to non-uniform spatial profile of laser beam leading to efficient selffocusing. Propagation of amplitude-modulated laser beam is investigated and see the effect of laser intensity and exponential density ramp profile. In this paper, we have demonstrated a narrow linewidth high power fiber laser emitting at a short wavelength of ~1050 nm. The fiber laser is based on a structure of master oscillator power amplification (MOPA) with an optimized fiber Bragg-grating-based laser cavity as the seed. Both stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) effects have been effectively suppressed by using a long passive fiber between the seed and the amplifier. Based on the fiber amplifier, we have ultimately boosted the narrow linewidth laser from ~40 W to 3.2 kW with a slope efficiency of 85.1% and a 3-dB linewidth of ~0.1 nm. The SRS suppression ratio of the laser is ~29.7 dB at maximum power. Due to our fiber mode control strategies, the beam quality always stays near-diffraction-limited while amplifying, and the measured M2 factor is ~1.4 at the maximum power. In this paper, an innovative approach is introduced to address the noise issues associated with micro–cantilever array deflection measurement systems employing multiple lasers. Conventional systems are affected by laser mode hopping during switching, resulting in wavelength instability and beam spot fluctuations that take several hundred milliseconds to stabilize. To mitigate these limitations, a high–speed laser modulation technique is utilized, leveraging the averaging effect over multiple modulation cycles within the sampling window. By driving the lasers with a high–frequency carrier signal, a low–noise and stable output suitable for micro–cantilever beam deflection measurement is achieved. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by simultaneously modulating the lasers and rapidly observing the spectral and centroid variations during high–speed switching using a custom–built high–speed spectrometer. The centroid fluctuations are also analyzed under different modulation frequencies. The experimental results confirm that the high–speed modulation method can reduce the standard deviation of beam spot fluctuations by more than 90%, leading to significant improvements in noise reduction compared to traditional laser switching methods. The proposed high–speed laser modulation approach offers a promising solution for enhancing the precision and stability of multi–laser micro–cantilever array deflection measurement systems.
