Homogeneous mixed iron-manganese oxide nanoparticles prepared from bimetallic MOFs were examined for their catalytic performance to examine toluene degradation. Introducing Fe into Mn 2 O 3 to obtain Mn 2-x Fe x O showed significantly improved catalytic combustion of toluene compared to single manganese or iron oxide. Among these catalysts, Mn 1.82 Fe 0.18 O 3 exhibited optimal catalytic performance showing the lowest T 10 , T 50 and T 90 in weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 60000 mL·(g·h)-1. In high-water content atmosphere, catalytic activity was excellent even after four cycles and such a good catalytic performance of Mn 1.82 Fe 0.18 O 3 might be due to the high surface area (103 m2·g−1) and uniform doping of Fe caused by MOFs roasting. Fe doping enhanced the weak acid sites onto Mn 2 O 3 surface, thus promoting the activation of toluene. The doped Fe elongated M = O bond to enhance the nucleophilicity of the active sites, which increased the intrinsic activity of Mn 2 O 3 catalyst. • Introducing Mg-MOF to polymer matrix enhances the property of electrolyte membrane. • Mg K-edge EXAFS reveals the cross-linking mechanism in the membrane. • The Li/CPE-10/Li symmetrical battery works well for more than 2000 h. • Battery using NCM811 cathode shows an excellent cycle performance. To enhance the compatibility between the electrolyte and electrode in a Li metal all-solid-state battery, a composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) modified with a metal–organic framework (MOF) is utilized. The Mg ligands in Mg-MOF-74 are connected to the F site in polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) and lithium salt, forming a robust cross-linking network. Due to the abundant pores in the Mg-MOF-74 skeleton, this cross-linking membrane not only secures the polymer chains but also provides large and uniform Li+ transport channels. The CPE membrane demonstrates high ionic conductivity (2.94 × 10-4 S·cm−1) and a wide electrochemical stability window (4.95 V). Utilizing a high-voltage LiNi 0.8 Co 0.1 Mn 0.1 O 2 (NCM811) cathode, the all-solid-state battery exhibits stable cycle performance and an exceptional capacity retention rate of 90.16 % after 100 cycles. [Display omitted] • The preparation of metal–organic frameworks with super large pore structures through the method of "MOF in MOF" has been proposed. • The adsorbent solely based on its pore advantage achieved a gold adsorption capacity of 1184 mg/g. • This work obtained gold with a purity of 23.8 k from a mineral leaching solution. The design of an efficient adsorbent for Au(III) has remained a challenging research focus, as the adsorbent needs to overcome competition from other ions while simultaneously addressing pore blockage caused by the reduction of Au(III) to elemental gold. In this study, we report the synthesis of a hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with ultra-large pores (300 nm) using the "MOF in MOF" method. This material facilitates enhanced adsorption kinetics by increasing the rate of gold ion adsorption and effectively prevents pore blockage resulting from Au(III) reduction, enabling access to the majority of adsorption sites. Batch experiments were conducted, and various complex water mixtures, including freshwater, simulated electronic waste solution, and gold ore leachate, were tested to demonstrate the rapid extraction of trace amounts of gold by the developed adsorbent. Remarkably, without additional functionalization, the adsorbent solely based on its pore advantage achieved a gold adsorption capacity of 1184 mg/g and reached 80 % adsorption within just 5 min (C0 = 100 mg/L, V/m = 2 L/g).
