Nano-plastics have been found in snow and evidence shows that they can act as nuclei. The aerosol water-uptake ability is an important property that will determine wet deposition, a potential main route for nano-plastics to fall to the ground. In this work, we measure the hygroscopicity of three nano-plastics: low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and a fourth compound, cellulose, with in-situ aerosol techniques via a cloud condensation nuclei counter. Cellulose is a high-molecular weight compound and a main component of commonly used paper products. Ultrafine nano-plastic particles in the range of 20 to 200 nm are explored. Nano-plastic materials LDPE, PET, and PVC form droplets more readily than cellulose nanoparticles. The high hygroscopicity of nano-plastics indicates that the nano-plastics are either oligomers or a polymer with properties for water adsorption. Furthermore, a single parameter hygroscopicity, κ, derived from different droplet activation models (Flory Huggins Köhler and Frenkel-Halsey-Hill adsorption theory) are reported. Moreover, the molecular weights of the leached oligomers are predicted by Flory Huggins Köhler theory assuming ideal polymer mixing. The observed intrinsic hygroscopicity is size-dependent, hence the adsorption-based hygroscopicity model could be applied. Nano-plastics can be incorporated into clouds, transported globally, and may also be removed from the atmosphere via wet deposition processes. Diblock conjugated oligomers are π-conjugated molecules that contain two segments having distinct frontier orbital energies and HOMO-LUMO gap offsets. These oligomers are of fundamental interest to understand how the distinct π-conjugated segments interact and modify their excited state properties. The current paper reports a study of two series of diblock oligomers that contain oligothiophene (Tn) and 4,7-bis(2-thienyl)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole (TBT) segments that are coupled by either ethynyl (-C≡C-) or trans-(-C≡C-)2Pt(II)(PBu3)2 acetylide linkers. In these structures, the Tn segment is electron rich (donor), and the TBT is electron poor (acceptor). The diblock oligomers are characterized by steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopy, including UV-visible absorption, fluorescence, fluorescence lifetimes, and ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy. Studies are compared in several solvents of different polarity and with different excitation wavelengths. The results reveal that the (-C≡C-) linked oligomers feature a delocalized excited state that takes on a charge transfer (CT) character in more polar media. In the (-C≡C-)2Pt(II)(PBu3)2-linked oligomers, there is weak coupling between the Tn and TBT segments. Consequently, short wavelength excitation selectively excites the Tn segment, which then undergoes ultrafast energy transfer (~1 ps) to afford a TBT-localized excited state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The disruption of the blood–brain barrier (BBB) in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is largely influenced by amyloid beta (Aβ). In this study, we developed a high-throughput microfluidic BBB model devoid of a physical membrane, featuring endothelial cells interacting with an extracellular matrix (ECM). This paper focuses on the impact of varying concentrations of Aβ1–42 oligomers on BBB dysfunction by treating them in the luminal. Our findings reveal a pronounced accumulation of Aβ1–42 oligomers at the BBB, resulting in the disruption of tight junctions and subsequent leakage evidenced by a barrier integrity assay. Additionally, cytotoxicity assessments indicate a concentration-dependent increase in cell death in response to Aβ1–42 oligomers (LC50 ~ 1 µM). The paper focuses on the correction of Illumina WGS sequencing reads. We provide an extensive evaluation of the existing correctors. To this end, we measure an impact of the correction on variant calling (VC) as well as de novo assembly. It shows, that in selected cases read correction improves the VC results quality. We also examine the algorithms behaviour in a processing of Illumina NovaSeq reads, with different reads quality characteristics than in older sequencers. We show that most of the algorithms are ready to cope with such reads. Finally, we introduce a new version of RECKONER, our read corrector, by optimizing it and equipping with a new correction strategy. Currently, RECKONER allows to correct high-coverage human reads in less than 2.5 h, is able to cope with two types of reads errors: indels and substitutions, and utilizes a new, based on a two lengths of oligomers, correction verification technique. Synapse loss is the principal cause of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related disorders (ADRD). Synapse development depends on the intricate dynamics of the neuronal cytoskeleton. Cofilin, the major protein regulating actin dynamics, can be sequestered into cofilactin rods, intra-neurite bundles of cofilin-saturated actin filaments that can disrupt vesicular trafficking and cause synaptic loss. Rods are a brain pathology in human AD and mouse models of AD and ADRD. Eliminating rods is the focus of this paper. One pathway for rod formation is triggered in ~20% of rodent hippocampal neurons by disease-related factors (e.g., soluble oligomers of Amyloid-β (Aβ)) and requires cellular prion protein (PrPC), active NADPH oxidase (NOX), and cytokine/chemokine receptors (CCRs). FDA-approved antagonists of CXCR4 and CCR5 inhibit Aβ-induced rods in both rodent and human neurons with effective concentrations for 50% rod reduction (EC50) of 1–10 nM. Remarkably, two D-amino acid receptor-active peptides (RAP-103 and RAP-310) inhibit Aβ-induced rods with an EC50 of ~1 pM in mouse neurons and ~0.1 pM in human neurons. These peptides are analogs of D-Ala-Peptide T-Amide (DAPTA) and share a pentapeptide sequence (TTNYT) antagonistic to several CCR-dependent responses. RAP-103 does not inhibit neuritogenesis or outgrowth even at 1 µM, >106-fold above its EC50. N-terminal methylation, or D-Thr to D-Ser substitution, decreases the rod-inhibiting potency of RAP-103 by 103-fold, suggesting high target specificity. Neither RAP peptide inhibits neuronal rod formation induced by excitotoxic glutamate, but both inhibit rods induced in human neurons by several PrPC/NOX pathway activators (Aβ, HIV-gp120 protein, and IL-6). Significantly, RAP-103 completely protects against Aβ-induced loss of mature and developing synapses and, at 0.1 nM, reverses rods in both rodent and human neurons (T½ ~ 3 h) even in the continuous presence of Aβ. Thus, this orally available, brain-permeable peptide should be highly effective in reducing rod pathology in multifactorial neurological diseases with mixed proteinopathies acting through PrPC/NOX. The self-assembly of highly functionalized phenanthrene–DNA conjugates into supramolecular nanostructures is presented. DNA oligomers modified with phenanthrene residues at the 3′-end and internal positions self-assemble into spherical nanostructures. The nanospheres exhibit light-harvesting properties. The microtubule associated protein, tau, is implicated in a multitude of neurodegenerative disorders that are collectively termed as tauopathies. These disorders are characterized by the presence of tau aggregates within the brain of afflicted individuals. Mutations within the MAPT gene that encodes the tau protein form the genetic backdrop for familial forms of tauopathies, such as frontotemporal dementia (FTD), but the molecular consequences of such alterations and their pathological effects are unclear. We sought to investigate the conformational properties of the aggregates of three tau mutants: A152T, P301L, and R406W, all implicated within FTD, and compare them to those of the native form (WT‐Tau 2N4R). Our immunochemical analysis reveals that mutants and WT tau oligomers exhibit similar affinity for conformation‐specific antibodies but have distinct morphology and secondary structure. Additionally, these oligomers possess different dye‐binding properties and varying sensitivity to proteolytic processing. These results point to conformational variety among them. We then tested the ability of the mutant oligomers to cross‐seed the aggregation of WT tau monomer. Using similar array of experiments, we found that cross‐seeding with mutant aggregates leads to the formation of conformationally unique WT oligomers. The results discussed in this paper provide a novel perspective on the structural properties of oligomeric forms of WT tau 2N4R and its mutant, along with shedding some light on their cross‐seeding behavior. C-Glycosyl amino acids are a group of C-glycosides in which a carbohydrate molecule is attached to the side chain or backbone of the amino acid via a C–C bond. Despite the numerous methods that have been developed for their synthesis, the C-glycosyl α-amino acids and their oligomers are relatively unexplored. In this work, we presented a protocol for the synthesis of oligomers containing alternating C-glycosyl α-amino acids and proteinogenic α-amino acids. The methodology is based on the modification of α-acyloxyamides obtained from the Passerini reaction using α- D -galactopyranose- and α- L -sorbofuranose-derived aldehydes as C-glycosyl donors. The protocol enabled the synthesis of homo- and heterochiral tetramers, and homo- and heterovalent tetramers in very good yields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bottom-up synthesis of siloxane-based nanoporous materials from siloxane oligomers is promising for constructing well-defined structures at a molecular level. Herein, we report the synthesis of nanoporous materials consisting of cage-type siloxanes through the nonhydrolytic siloxane bond formation reaction. Cage siloxanes with double-n-ring geometries (n = 4 or 6) modified with dimethylsilyl and dimethylethoxysilyl groups are synthesized and directly cross-linked using a B(C6F5)3 catalyst, resulting in the formation of porous networks composed of alternating cage siloxane nodes and tetramethyldisiloxane (-SiMe2OSiMe2-) linkers. Compared with conventional hydrolysis and polycondensation reactions of alkoxysilyl-modified cage siloxanes under acid conditions, the non-hydrolytic condensation reaction was found favorable for the formation of porous siloxane networks without unwanted cleavage of the siloxane bonds. Bis(diimino)metal complex nanosheets composed of metal ions and hexaaminobenzene ligands (MHABs) are fascinating two-dimensional materials which have been gaining significant attention as electrode materials and electrocatalysts owing to their electrical conductivities, redox properties, and porous structures obtained by the π-conjugated system and regular metal complex arrangement. Although electrochemical oxidation enables the simple and direct formation of MHABs on electrodes within a couple of minutes only, the obtained MHABs are relatively rough and of low crystallinity. This study investigated the effects of the applied potential during the synthesis, the type of base, and the concentrations of bases and building blocks on the synthesis of NiHAB nanosheets. Optical microscopy (OM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and grazing-incidence X-ray scattering (GIXS) results revealed that a low oxidation potential, high concentration of the ammonia solution, and low concentration of the building blocks in the reaction solution provided a nanometre-thick NiHAB layer. Under the optimal reaction conditions, NiHAB nanosheets were successfully synthesized in a face-on orientation manner on gold electrodes using electrochemical oxidation methods. Furthermore, the anisotropic electrochemical synthesis of CuHAB was achieved under the optimised conditions. The mechanism of the MHAB growth process with an anisotropic orientation and nanometre thickness was proposed and attributed to the flat adsorption of p-conjugated oligomers composed of bis(diamino)metal moieties in a solution onto an electrode surface and the electrochemical oxidation and deprotonation of the adsorbates on the electrode. Incorporating hydrolytically sensitive functional groups into polymer backbones provides a feasible strategy to trigger their degradation to the starting monomers, thus enabling chemical recycling of the material. Here, we present two series of copolyesters in which a biobased spirocyclic ketal-functional diester monomer was incorporated into poly(butylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate) (PBLF) and poly(hexamethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate) (PHLF), respectively. A two-step melt polycondensation resulted in copolyesters with moderate to high molecular weights, as confirmed by intrinsic viscosity and size exclusion chromatography data. Thermogravimetric analysis showed a thermal stability up to 275 °C, and increasing char yields upon incorporation of the spirocyclic monomer. The crystallinity and melting points of the copolyesters decreased with an increasing content of the spirocyclic ketal units in the backbone. Copolyesters containing up to 15% of the spiro-ketal units were semicrystalline, while those containing 20 and 50% spiro-ketal units were completely amorphous. The hydrolytic degradation of copolyesters from the PHLF series was investigated using 3–12 M aq. HCl, and were found to degrade faster than the corresponding homopolyesters. Acid-catalyzed cleavage of the randomly distributed spiro ketal units promoted the rapid fragmentation of the polymer chain into small oligomers, which were subsequently hydrolyzed to the original chemical building blocks. The ketone-terminated telechelic oligomers obtained after the degradation of spirocyclic ketal units were also investigated in a direct polymerization with pentaerythritol. The initial results implied that the oligomers can be re-polymerized into the original polymer. Hence, this work demonstrated a feasible pathway towards chemically recyclable 2,5-furandicarboxylate polyesters with a tuneable degree of crystallinity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Amyloidosis is a condition involving a disparate group of pathologies characterized by the extracellular deposition of insoluble fibrils composed of broken-down proteins. These proteins can accumulate locally, causing peculiar symptoms, or in a widespread way, involving many organs and. causing severe systemic failure. The damage that is created is related not only to the accumulation of. amyloid fibrils but above all to the precursor oligomers of the fibrils that manage to enter the cell in a very particular way. This article analyzes the current state of research related to the entry of these oligomers into the cell membrane and the theories related to their toxicity. The paper proposed here not only aims to review the contents in the literature but also proposes a new vision of amyloid toxicity. that could occur in a multiphase process catalyzed by the cell membrane itself. In this process, the denaturation of the lipid bilayer is followed by the stabilization of a pore through energetically favorable self-assembly processes which are achieved through particular oligomeric structures. The popularity and rapid spread of new psychoactive substances is why there is an urgent need for their fast monitoring in saliva in the field with electrodes modified with a selective receptor. Oligomers of electrochemically oxidized 3-aminobenzoic acid that are deposited on the surface of a graphite screen-printed electrode (o-3ABA/G/SPE) is proposed as a selector for the analyte of forensic interest. The oligomeric structure and existence of the zwitterionic form of o-3ABA on the G/SPE surface was confirmed using scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry techniques. The equilibrium adsorption constants between o-3ABA and 2-aminoindane (primary amine: Kads(2-AI) = 5.31 × 104) and selected synthetic cathinones (secondary amine: Kads(butylone) = 6.12 × 105, tertiary amines: Kads(MDPV) = 3.41 × 104 and Kads(naphyrone) = 1.01 × 104) were estimated using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique. The EIS technique was applied for determining a 1.0 μM concentration of 2-AI (RSD 3.5–4.0%) and butylone (RSD 4.9–6.4%) in the model and oral fluid samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A series of new gold nanocomposite materials, GNC_LCx (x = 6–11), was obtained from a series of non-linear liquid crystal oligomers, LCx (x = 6–11), with a gold nanocluster (GNC) possessing a formulation of [Au25(SC12H25)18]TOA, which is represented as Au25. The oligomers consist of a central disulphide (S–S) linkage wherein the length of the inner alkyl spacer n1 varied from 6 to 11, whilst the outer alkyl length n2 was fixed at 6. The synthesis of Au25 was verified using UV-vis and TEM, whereas the properties of Au25, LCx, and GNC_LCx were validated using UV-vis, PL, DLS, and TEM. However, the fundamental results of GNC_LCX suggest the possibility of core alteration, indicating that the GNC in GNC_LCx may no longer be the same Au25. The occurrence of some kind of complexation or more than one intermolecular interaction (other than hydrophobic interaction) is proposed that might contribute to the exisiting outcome. The primary findings implied that the synthesis of the nanocomposites was successful and the enhancement of the thermal stability of the transition temperatures of crystal–isotropic (TCr–I) and isotropic–nematic (TI–N) transitions along with the photoluminescence property were observed. The thermal stability of gun propellants is related to significant safety issues in their development, production, storage, or transportation. Therefore, the study of improving the thermal stability of propellants has urgent and important practical significance. In this work, glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) with a relative molecular weight of 330 was added to the gun propellant to prepare modified NG-NC-RDX gun propellants containing different contents of oligomeric GAP. The ability of the propellant to cause discoloration of methyl violet test paper due to thermal decomposition, as well as the thermal weight loss and adiabatic decomposition behavior of the propellant, were characterized. And the differential charge density of GAP and NG, as well as the free volume and microstructure of GAP/NC and NG/NC blends, were compared, and the mechanism by which GAP improves the thermal stability of the propellant was discussed. When the content of GAP in the propellant changes from 0% to 16%, the time for the methyl violet test paper to change from purple to orange is prolonged from 87 minutes to 98 minutes. The initial decomposition temperature of thermal weight loss increased from 164.7 °C to 176.4 °C. The maximum temperature rise rate during adiabatic decomposition decreased from 0.95 °C·min−1 to 0.12 °C·min−1. According to MS simulation calculations, GAP provides a larger free volume and improves the uniformity of the mesoscopic phase structure of the propellant. The covalent effect of bond C-N 3 in GAP molecules is stronger than that of bond O-NO 2 in NG molecules. The thermal stability of the NG-NC-RDX propellant increases with the addition of GAP, and it increases with the increase of GAP content in the propellant. Linear chlorinated phosphazene acid is prepared using PCl5 and NH4Cl as raw materials. Using hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane as the monomer, 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane or 1,3-divinyl-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane as the end-capping agent, and linear chlorinated phosphazene acid as the catalyst, polydiethylsiloxane oligomers terminated with active Si-H or Si-CH=CH2 groups have been prepared. Using hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane and 1,3,5,7-octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane as comonomers, 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane or hexamethyldisiloxane as the end-capping agent, or using hexaethylcyclotrisiloxane and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane as comonomers, 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane as the end-capping agent, copolymers containing active Si-H bonds and dimethylsiloxane segments have been prepared under the catalysis of linear chlorinated phosphazene acid. The effects of catalyst dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time, end-capping agent, and polymerization monomer dosage on polymer yield and structure were investigated. Using 300 ppm of linear chlorinated phosphazene acid, oligomers and copolymers containing an active Si-H bond and diethylsiloxane segment were prepared under mild conditions. The molecular weight of the obtained polymers was close to their designed values, but their PDI values were small. The highest yield of α, ω-bisdimethylsiloxyl-terminated PDES oligomers reached 93%. Using oligomers and copolymers containing Si-H bonds and diethylsiloxane segments as crosslinkers, a silicone gel containing diethylsiloxane segments was prepared by hydrosilylation reaction. With the introduction of a diethylsiloxane segment, the glass transition temperature of the silicone gel decreased relative to that of the PDMS oligomer, but the temperature at 5% weight loss in nitrogen atmosphere decreased from 347 °C to 312 °C. Chemical degradation of PET with natural rubber was carried out. The product obtained was characterized by FTIR, and it was found that the intensity of the vibration signal of the carbonyl group (1719 cm−1) depends on the mass of rubber used in the reaction and not on the PET degradation products, reaching an adequate mass ratio of Rubber/PET = 4. The chemical structure of the product obtained was rubber chains with end groups of ethylene terephthalate oligomers. The pasting properties of the banana starch were modified with the resulting product, affecting its gelatinization process and the maximum viscosity value of 5.78 Pa.s to 1.50 Pa.s at a temperature of 25 °C. Starch degraded PET-rubber films have better mechanical properties than starch-only films. Additionally, these films degrade at lower temperatures (491 to 469 °C) than starch-only films. The ability of these films to conduct electrical current increases up to 25.52% with respect to that of the native starch film. SEM morphology of the starch degraded PET-rubber films shows the formation of clusters, which causes the films to present adhesive characteristics, indicating that these films have a high potential for application in the adhesive and paint industry as biodegradable materials. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common age-associated neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by progressive cognitive decline, memory impairment, and structural brain changes, primarily involving Aβ plaques and neurofibrillary tangles of hyperphosphorylated tau protein. Recent research highlights the significance of smaller Aβ and Tau oligomeric aggregates (AβO and TauO, respectively) in synaptic dysfunction and disease progression. Calcineurin (CaN), a key calcium/calmodulin-dependent player in regulating synaptic function in the central nervous system (CNS) is implicated in mediating detrimental effects of AβO on synapses and memory function in AD. This study aims to investigate the specific impact of CaN on both exogenous and endogenous TauO through the acute and chronic inhibition of CaN. We previously demonstrated the protective effect against AD of the immunosuppressant CaN inhibitor, FK506, but its influence on TauO remains unclear. In this study, we explored the short-term effects of acute CaN inhibition on TauO phosphorylation and TauO-induced memory deficits and synaptic dysfunction. Mice received FK506 post-TauO intracerebroventricular injection and TauO levels and phosphorylation were assessed, examining their impact on CaN and GSK-3β. The study investigated FK506 preventive/reversal effects on TauO-induced clustering of CaN and GSK-3β. Memory and synaptic function in TauO-injected mice were evaluated with/without FK506. Chronic FK506 treatment in 3xTgAD mice explored its influence on CaN, Aβ, and Tau levels. This study underscores the significant influence of CaN inhibition on TauO and associated AD pathology, suggesting therapeutic potential in targeting CaN for addressing various aspects of AD onset and progression. Prior to the formation of amyloid fibrils, the pathological hallmark in tau-related neurodegenerative disease, tau monomers aggregate into a diverse range of oligomers. Granular tau oligomers, consisting of approximately 40 tau protein molecules, are present in the prefrontal cortex of patients at Braak stages I-II, preclinical stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Antibodies to granular tau oligomers as antigens have not been reported. Therefore, we generated new rat monoclonal antibodies by immunization with granular tau oligomers. Three antibodies from different hybridoma clones showed stronger immunoreactivity to granular tau oligomers and tau fibrils compared with monomeric tau. Of the three antibodies, 2D6-2C6 showed 3000-fold greater immunoreactivity in P301L-tau transgenic (rTg4510) mice than in non-transgenic mice, while MC1 antibody, which detects pathological conformations of tau, showed a 5.5-fold increase. These results suggest that 2D6-2C6 recognizes aggregates more specifically than MC1. In AD subjects, 2D6-2C6 recognized neurofibrillary tangles and pretangles, and co-localized within AT8-positive cells containing phosphorylated tau aggregates. The epitope of 2D6-2C6 is the 423–430 amino acid (AA) sequence of C-terminal regions. Taken together, a novel monoclonal antibody, 2D6-2C6, generated by immunization with granular tau oligomers binds to tau aggregates at the 423–430 AA sequence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Oxidative degradation is a powerful method to degrade plastics into oligomers and small oxidized products. While thermal energy has been conventionally employed as an external stimulus, recent advances in photochemistry have enabled photocatalytic oxidative degradation of polymers under mild conditions. This tutorial review presents an overview of oxidative degradation, from its earliest examples to emerging strategies. This review briefly discusses the motivation and the development of thermal oxidative degradation of polymers with a focus on underlying mechanisms. In the developing human brain, only 53 stochastically expressed clustered protocadherin (cPcdh) isoforms enable neurites from individual neurons to recognize and self-avoid while simultaneously maintaining contact with neurites from other neurons. Cell assays have demonstrated that self-recognition occurs only when all cPcdh isoforms perfectly match across the cell boundary, with a single mismatch in the cPcdh expression profile interfering with recognition. It remains unclear, however, how a single mismatched isoform between neighboring cells is sufficient to block erroneous recognitions. Using systematic cell aggregation experiments, we show that abolishing cPcdh interactions on the same membrane (cis) results in a complete loss of specific combinatorial binding between cells (trans). Our computer simulations demonstrate that the organization of cPcdh in linear array oligomers, composed of cis and trans interactions, enhances self-recognition by increasing the concentration and stability of cPcdh trans complexes between the homotypic membranes. Importantly, we show that the presence of mismatched isoforms between cells drastically diminishes the concentration and stability of the trans complexes. Hyperactivity mediated by synaptotoxic β-amyloid (Aβ) oligomers is one of the earliest forms of neuronal dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease. In the search for a preventive treatment strategy, we tested the effect of scavenging Aβ peptides before Aβ plaque formation. Using in vivo two-photon calcium imaging and SF-iGluSnFR-based glutamate imaging in hippocampal slices, we demonstrate that an Aβ binding anticalin protein (Aβ-anticalin) can suppress early neuronal hyperactivity and synaptic glutamate accumulation in the APP23xPS45 mouse model of β-amyloidosis. Our results suggest that the sole targeting of Aβ monomers is sufficient for the hyperactivity-suppressing effect of the Aβ-anticalin at early disease stages. Biochemical and neurophysiological analyses indicate that the Aβ-anticalin-dependent depletion of naturally secreted Aβ monomers interrupts their aggregation to neurotoxic oligomers and, thereby, reverses early neuronal and synaptic dysfunctions. The classical amyloid cascade hypothesis postulates that the aggregation of amyloid plaques and the accumulation of intracellular hyperphosphorylated Tau tangles, together, lead to profound neuronal death. However, emerging research has demonstrated that soluble amyloid-β oligomers (SAβOs) accumulate early, prior to amyloid plaque formation. SAβOs induce memory impairment and disrupt cognitive function independent of amyloid-β plaques, and even in the absence of plaque formation. This work describes the development and characterization of a novel anti-SAβO (E3) nanobody generated from an alpaca immunized with SAβO. In-vitro assays and in-vivo studies using 5XFAD mice indicate that the fluorescein (FAM)-labeled E3 nanobody recognizes both SAβOs and amyloid-β plaques. The E3 nanobody traverses across the blood–brain barrier and binds to amyloid species in the brain of 5XFAD mice. Imaging of mouse brains reveals that SAβO and amyloid-β plaques are not only different in size, shape, and morphology, but also have a distinct spatial distribution in the brain. SAβOs are associated with neurons, while amyloid plaques reside in the extracellular matrix. Intracellular tau fibrils are sources of neurotoxicity and oxidative stress in Alzheimer's. Current drug discovery efforts have focused on molecules with tau fibril disaggregation and antioxidation functions. However, recent studies suggest that membrane-bound tau-containing oligomers (mTCOs), smaller and less ordered than tau fibrils, are neurotoxic in the early stage of Alzheimer's. Whether tau fibril-targeting molecules are effective against mTCOs is unknown. The binding of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), CNS-11, and BHT-CNS-11 to in silico mTCOs and experimental tau fibrils was investigated using machine learning-enhanced docking and molecular dynamics simulations. EGCG and CNS-11 have tau fibril disaggregation functions, while the proposed BHT-CNS-11 has potential tau fibril disaggregation and antioxidation functions like EGCG. Our results suggest that the three molecules studied may also bind to mTCOs. The predicted binding probability of EGCG to mTCOs increases with the protein aggregate size. In contrast, the predicted probability of CNS-11 and BHT-CNS-11 binding to the dimeric mTCOs is higher than binding to the tetrameric mTCOs for the homo tau but not for the hetero tau–amylin oligomers. Our results also support the idea that anionic lipids may promote the binding of molecules to mTCOs. To emulate the ordered arrangement of monomer units found in natural macromolecules, single-unit monomer insertion (SUMI) have emerged as a potent technique for synthesizing sequence-controlled vinyl polymers. Specifically, numerous applications necessitate vinyl polymers encompassing both radically and cationically polymerizable monomers, posing a formidable challenge due to the distinct thiocarbonylthio end-groups required for efficient control over radical and cationic SUMIs. Herein, we present a breakthrough in the form of interconvertible radical and cationic SUMIs achieved through the manipulation of thiocarbonylthio end-groups. The transition from a trithiocarbonate (for radical SUMI) to a dithiocarbamate (for cationic SUMI) is successfully accomplished via a radical-promoted reaction with bis(thiocarbonyl) disulfide. Conversely, the reverse transformation utilizes the reaction between dithiocarbamate and bistrithiocarbonate disulfide under a cationic mechanism. Employing this strategy, we demonstrate a series of synthetic examples featuring discrete oligomers containing acrylate, maleimide, vinyl ether, and styrene, compositions unattainable through the SUMI of a single mechanism alone. Chlamydia invasion of epithelial cells is a pathogen-driven process involving two functionally distinct effectors – TarP and TmeA. They collaborate to promote robust actin dynamics at sites of entry. Here, we extend studies on the molecular mechanism of invasion by implicating the host GTPase dynamin 2 (Dyn2) in the completion of pathogen uptake. Importantly, Dyn2 function is modulated by TarP and TmeA at the levels of recruitment and activation through oligomerization, respectively. TarP-dependent recruitment requires phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase and the small GTPase Rac1, while TmeA has a post-recruitment role related to Dyn2 oligomerization. This is based on the rescue of invasion duration and efficiency in the absence of TmeA by the Dyn2 oligomer-stabilizing small molecule activator Ryngo 1-23. Notably, Dyn2 also regulated turnover of TarP- and TmeA-associated actin networks, with disrupted Dyn2 function resulting in aberrant turnover dynamics, thus establishing the interdependent functional relationship between Dyn2 and the effectors TarP and TmeA. Dermatology and cosmetology currently prioritize healthy, youthful-looking skin. As a result, research is being conducted worldwide to uncover natural substances and carriers that allow for controlled release, which could aid in the battle against a variety of skin illnesses and slow the aging process. This study examined the biological and physicochemical features of novel hydrogels containing cannabidiol (CBD) and α-terpineol (TER). The hydrogels were obtained from ε-caprolactone (CL) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) copolymers, diethylene glycol (DEG), poly(tetrahydrofuran) (PTHF), 1,6-diisocyanatohexane (HDI), and chitosan (CHT) components, whereas the biodegradable oligomers were synthesized using the enzyme ring-opening polymerization (e-ROP) method. The in vitro release rate of the active compounds from the hydrogels was characterized by mainly first-order kinetics, without a "burst release". The antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, antioxidant, and anti-aging qualities of the designed drug delivery systems (DDSs) were evaluated. The findings indicate that the hydrogel carriers that were developed have the ability to scavenge free radicals and impact the activity of antioxidant enzymes while avoiding any negative effects on keratinocytes and fibroblasts. Furthermore, they have anti-inflammatory qualities by impeding protein denaturation as well as the activity of proteinase and lipoxygenase. Additionally, their ability to reduce the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria and inhibit the activity of collagenase and elastase has been demonstrated. Deposition of extracellular Amyloid Beta (Aβ) and intracellular tau fibrils in post-mortem brains remains the only way to conclusively confirm cases of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Substantial evidence, though, implicates small globular oligomers instead of fibrils as relevant biomarkers of, and critical contributors to, the clinical symptoms of AD. Efforts to verify and utilize amyloid oligomers as AD biomarkers in vivo have been limited by the near-exclusive dependence on conformation-selective antibodies for oligomer detection. While antibodies have yielded critical evidence for the role of both Aβ and tau oligomers in AD, they are not suitable for imaging amyloid oligomers in vivo. Therefore, it would be desirable to identify a set of oligomer-selective small molecules for subsequent development into Positron Emission Tomography (PET) probes. Using a kinetics-based screening assay, we confirm that the triarylmethane dye Crystal Violet (CV) is oligomer-selective for Aβ42 oligomers (AβOs) grown under near-physiological solution conditions in vitro. In postmortem brains of an AD mouse model and human AD patients, we demonstrate that A11 antibody-positive oligomers but not Thioflavin S (ThioS)-positive fibrils colocalize with CV staining, confirming in vitro results. Therefore, our kinetic screen represents a robust approach for identifying new classes of small molecules as candidates for oligomer-selective dyes (OSDs). In this study, chitosan-based surfactants were synthesized by epoxy–amine chemistry to stabilize concentrated O/W emulsions at pH7. Chitosan was first depolymerized by nitrous deamination to obtain chitooligosaccharides (COS) with degrees of polymerization of 10 (DP10) and 20 (DP20). Then, three different epoxidized fatty chains, i.e., octyl/decyl glycidyl ether (C9), hexadecyl glycidyl ether (C16) and epoxidized cardanol (card), were grafted onto the amine groups of chitosan to form six amphiphilic structures. NMR measurements revealed grafting efficiencies ranging from 1 to 30% while HLB values ranged from 13 to 20. The relationships between these surfactant structures and their adsorption properties were investigated by tensiometric measurements, highlighting the need for a short hydrophilic moiety and high grafting efficiency to obtain the best adsorption. Subsequently, concentrated O/W emulsions (66% of oil) at pH7 were produced using COS-based surfactants and the impact of stirring time and speed during the emulsification process was described through rheological, droplet size and microscopy measurements. Finally, emulsions were stored over 2 months in order to study the destabilization phenomenon into the mixture, i.e., coalescence and creaming, by using laser granulometry and Turbiscan. Despite the large number of investigations and applications of polydopamine (PDA), an atomic-scale description of the differences between PDA as a coating layer and PDA precipitate (bulk-PDA) based on clear experimental evidence is not reported yet. In this paper, a two-step approach was used to solve this shortcoming: (i) the deuteration of the dopamine's catechol-ring to obtain deuterated PDA-based structures, i.e., bulk-PDA and PDA coating layers with different thickness deposited onto SiO 2 nanospheres, and (ii) application of different solid-state NMR methods (13C/15N cross-polarization and 2H solid-echo) and electronic microscopy for characterization of the prepared samples in both, deuterated and non-deuterated form. It was found that nano-sized PDA coating layers and bulk-PDA are structurally equivalent at all length scales, down to monomeric units composing the final material. Ss-NMR proved sensitive to identify the distinctive contributions of PDA film surfaces in the 13C and 15N ss-NMR spectra for film thicknesses of 5 nm and less. They consist of amplified line intensities for the aliphatic carbons and NH 3 +, suggesting the larger number of monomeric units carrying these moieties that exist at the film surfaces compared to the inner oligomer layers. UV-curing technology possesses the advantages of fast curing, and cured at room temperature, which has been developed rapidly in recent years. However, the volume shrinkage usually occurs during the UV-curing polymerization process, seriously hindering its application. In this paper, a low volume shrinkage, high bio-based contents, and UV-curable resins was fabricated from the raw materials of castor oil, and cardanol. A three functional castor oil-based reactive diluent (COSH) was synthesized using a one-step method of thio-ene click reaction, and the COSH was blended with cardanol-based PUA (CNPUA) oligomer with different content, and prepare bio-based UV-curable materials. The comparative investigation were conducted on the thermal, and mechanical properties with petroleum-based diluents of trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TM), and trimethylolpropane tris (3-mercaptopropionate) (TMSH), respectively. As the content of COSH increased to 40%, the bio-based content of the CNPUA/COSH reached to the highest value of 60.0%, and the viscosity and volume shrinkage of CNPUA/COSH exhibited the lowest data of 1651 mPa·s, and 13.3%, respectively. The COSH not only had good dilution ability, but also possessed excellent anti volume shrinkage ability, and the mechanism of the anti shrinkage COSH was also explored. In addition, the three long carbon chain structures of the COSH endowed the cured coating excellent adhesion of 1 level, and pencil hardness of 3 H-4 H, as well as the flexibility of 2 mm. Lastly, the kinetics of the resulting resins were studied using real-time infrared spectroscopy (RT-IR). In flaviviruses such as Dengue or Zika, non-structural (NS) NS4A protein forms homo-oligomers, participates in membrane remodelling and is critical for virulence. In both viruses, mature NS4A has the same length and three predicted hydrophobic domains. The oligomers formed by Dengue NS4A are reported to be small (n = 2, 3), based on denaturing SDS gels, but no high-resolution structure of a flavivirus NS4A protein is available, and the size of the oligomer in lipid membranes is not known. Herein we show that crosslinking Zika NS4A protein in lipid membranes results in oligomers at least up to hexamers. Further, sedimentation velocity shows that NS4A in mild detergent C14-betaine appears to be in fast equilibrium between at least two species, where one is smaller, and the other larger, than a trimer or a tetramer. Consistently, sedimentation equilibrium data was best fitted to a model involving an equilibrium between dimers (n = 2) and hexamers (n = 6). Overall, the large, at least hexameric, oligomers obtained herein in liposomes and in mild detergent are more likely to represent the forms of NS4A present in cell membranes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Orb2 the Drosophila homolog of cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding (CPEB) protein forms prion-like oligomers. These oligomers consist of Orb2A and Orb2B isoforms and their formation is dependent on the oligomerization of the Orb2A isoform. Drosophila with a mutation diminishing Orb2A's prion-like oligomerization forms long-term memory but fails to maintain it over time. Since this prion-like oligomerization of Orb2A plays a crucial role in the maintenance of memory, here, we aim to find what regulates this oligomerization. In an immunoprecipitation-based screen, we identify interactors of Orb2A in the Hsp40 and Hsp70 families of proteins. Among these, we find an Hsp40 family protein Mrj as a regulator of the conversion of Orb2A to its prion-like form. Mrj interacts with Hsp70 proteins and acts as a chaperone by interfering with the aggregation of pathogenic Huntingtin. Unlike its mammalian homolog, we find Drosophila Mrj is neither an essential gene nor causes any gross neurodevelopmental defect. We observe a loss of Mrj results in a reduction in Orb2 oligomers. Further, Mrj knockout exhibits a deficit in long-term memory and our observations suggest Mrj is needed in mushroom body neurons for the regulation of long-term memory. Our work implicates a chaperone Mrj in mechanisms of memory regulation through controlling the oligomerization of Orb2A and its association with the translating ribosomes. The interactions between lignin oligomers and solvents determine the behaviors of lignin oligomers self-assembling into uniform lignin nanoparticles (LNPs). Herein, several alcohol solvents, which readily interact with the lignin oligomers, were adopted to study their effects during solvent shifting process for LNPs' production. The lignin oligomers with widely distributed molecular weight and abundant guaiacyl units were extracted from wood waste (mainly consists of pine wood), exerting outstanding self-assembly capability. Uniform and spherical LNPs were generated in H2O-n-propanol cosolvent, whereas irregular LNPs were obtained in H2O-methanol cosolvent. The unsatisfactory selfassembly performance of the lignin oligomers in H2O-methanol cosolvent could be attributed to two aspects. On one hand, for the initial dissolution state, the distinguishing Hansen solubility parameter and polarity between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers resulted in the poor dispersion of the lignin oligomers. On the other hand, strong hydrogen bonds between methanol solvent and lignin oligomers during solvent shifting process, hindered the interactions among the lignin oligomers for self-assembly. The Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) is frequently found to be mutated in non-small cell lung cancer. Oncogenic EGFR has been successfully targeted by tyrosine kinase inhibitors, but acquired drug resistance eventually overcomes the efficacy of these treatments. Attempts to surmount this therapeutic challenge are hindered by a poor understanding of how and why cancer mutations specifically amplify ligand-independent EGFR auto-phosphorylation signals to enhance cell survival and how this amplification is related to ligand-dependent cell proliferation. Here we show that drug-resistant EGFR mutations manipulate the assembly of ligand-free, kinase-active oligomers to promote and stabilize the assembly of oligomer-obligate active dimer sub-units and circumvent the need for ligand binding. We reveal the structure and assembly mechanisms of these ligand-free, kinase-active oligomers, uncovering oncogenic functions for hitherto orphan transmembrane and kinase interfaces, and for the ectodomain tethered conformation of EGFR. Importantly, we find that the active dimer sub-units within ligand-free oligomers are the high affinity binding sites competent to bind physiological ligand concentrations and thus drive tumor growth, revealing a link with tumor proliferation. Our findings provide a framework for future drug discovery directed at tackling oncogenic EGFR mutations by disabling oligomer-assembling interactions. Several researchers have examined the interest in using a thermoplastic to increase thermoset polymers' shock resistance. However, fewer studies have examined the nature of the mechanisms involved between both kinds of polymers. This was the objective of our work, which was carried out using a gradual approach. First, we describe the synthesis of a poly(ether ether ketone) oligomer (oPEEK) with hydroxyl terminations from the reaction of hydroquinone and 4,4′-difluorobenzophenone in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. Then, the main physicochemical properties of this oligomer were determined using different thermal analyses (i.e., differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric (ATG), and thermomechanical analyses) to isolate its response alone. The chemical characterisation of this compound using conventional analytical chemistry techniques was more complex due to its insolubility. To this end, it was sulfonated, according to a well-known process, to make it soluble and enable nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and size exclusion chromatography (SEC) experiments. Additional information about the structural and chemical characteristics of the oligomer and its average molecular weight could thus be obtained. The synthesis of an oligoPEEK with α,ω-hydroxyl end-groups and a molecular weight of around 5070 g/mol was thus confirmed by NMR. This value was in accordance with that determined by SEC analysis. Next, the reaction of oPEEK with an epoxy prepolymer was demonstrated using DSC and dynamic rheometry. To this end, uncured mixtures of epoxy prepolymer (DGEBA) with different proportions of oPEEK (3, 5, 10 and 25%) were prepared and characterised by both techniques. Ultimately, the epoxy-oPEEK mixture was cured with isophorone diamine. Finally, topological analyses were performed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) in tapping mode to investigate the interface quality between the epoxy matrix and the oPEEK particles indirectly. This work explores the definition and characterization of synthetic polymeric oligomers, chemical substances comprising a small number of repeated organic molecules. It highlights the lack of clarity surrounding the range of repeated units that can be classified as an oligomer, and how this definition is field-dependent. The present study focused on PET cyclic oligomers and revealed that the progression of the ring length from smaller to longer oligomers followed the well-known odd-even effect. This phenomenon affects the physical and chemical properties of oligomers and can also be observed with analytical techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), high resolution mass spectrometry (HR-MS) and NMR. Similarities between PET and PBT oligomers were also observed, and an alternative potential definition for oligomers in the polymeric field is suggested based on physical behaviour of the longer cyclic oligomers. Background: It is now realized that Parkinson's disease (PD) pathology extends beyond the substantia nigra, affecting both central and peripheral nervous systems, and exhibits a variety of non-motor symptoms often preceding motor features. Neuroinflammation induced by activated microglia and astrocytes is thought to underlie these manifestations. α-Synuclein aggregation has been linked with sustained neuroinflammation in PD, aggravating neuronal degeneration; however, there is still a lack of critical information about the structural identity of the α-synuclein conformers that activate microglia and/or astrocytes and the molecular pathways involved. Methods: To investigate the role of α-synuclein conformers in the development and maintenance of neuroinflammation, we used primary quiescent microglia and astrocytes, post-mortem brain tissues from PD patients and A53T α-synuclein transgenic mice that recapitulate key features of PD-related inflammatory responses in the absence of cell death, i.e., increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and complement proteins. Biochemical and -omics techniques including RNAseq and secretomic analyses, combined with 3D reconstruction of individual astrocytes and live calcium imaging, were used to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying glial responses in the presence of α-synuclein oligomers in vivo and in vitro. Results: We found that the presence of SDS-resistant hyper-phosphorylated α-synuclein oligomers, but not monomers, was correlated with sustained inflammatory responses, such as elevated levels of endogenous antibodies and cytokines and microglial activation. Similar oligomeric α-synuclein species were found in post-mortem human brain samples of PD patients but not control individuals. Detailed analysis revealed a decrease in Iba1Low/CD68Low microglia and robust alterations in astrocyte number and morphology including process retraction. Our data indicated an activation of the p38/ATF2 signaling pathway mostly in microglia and a sustained induction of the NF-κB pathway in astrocytes of A53T mice. The sustained NF-κB activity triggered the upregulation of astrocytic T-type Cav3.2 Ca2+ channels, altering the astrocytic secretome and promoting the secretion of IGFBPL1, an IGF-1 binding protein with anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective potential. Conclusions: Our work supports a causative link between the neuron-produced α-synuclein oligomers and sustained neuroinflammation in vivo and maps the signaling pathways that are stimulated in microglia and astrocytes. In recent years, the evolution of lithium-ion batteries (LIB) has been propelled by the growing demand for energy storage systems that are lightweight, have high energy density, and are long-lasting. This review article examines the use of self-terminated oligomers with hyperbranched architecture (STOBA) as a key electrode additive for the superior performance of LIBs. STOBA has been found to have excellent electrochemical properties, including high specific capacity, low impedance, and good cycling stability when used as an additive in electrode materials. The article discusses the process of synthesis and characterization of STOBA materials, including their potential applications in LIBs as electrode material additives. The article also discusses current research on the optimization of STOBA materials for LIBs, including the use of different solvents, monomers, and initiators. Whether fibril formation increases or decreases cytotoxicity remains unclear. Aggregation of human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP), a pivotal regulator of glucose homeostasis, impairs the function and viability of pancreatic β cells. Evidence suggests that low-order oligomers of hIAPP are more toxic to β cells than fibril. However, it remains unclear whether non-fibril form of hIAPP specifically alters brain functions. This study produced fibril and non-fibril forms from a single hIAPP 8–20 peptide. The non-fibril form-injected mice showed changes in spontaneous motor activities, preference for location in the open field and social behavior. In contrast, the fibril-injected mice showed no changes in these behavioral tests. In line with the behavioral changes, the non-fibril form led to impaired neurite outgrowth of cultured neuron-like cells and the loss of neurons in the mouse hippocampus. The behavior of polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG), the causative agent of many humidifier-induced lung diseases, is not well known because of its various oligomer structures and analytical difficulties. The aim of this study was to identify different PHMG oligomer types both in solution and aerosols and to estimate the airborne concentration of oligomers during humidifier use. Three products containing PHMG as the main component were diluted to the manufacturer's recommended concentration (6.5 ppm) or the worst-case concentration (65 ppm or 125 ppm). Samples were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed with liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight (LC-qToF) mass spectrometry in the diluted solution and in the air at 0.5 m and 1 m. The LC-qToF data were processed using UNIFI software to characterize the PHMG structure. For all products in both the humidifier solution and air, the linear type was predominant over the branched/cyclic structure, but each product had different characteristics. The linear structure in the Oxy product, the main product of lung diseases, accounted for 90.6%, while that of the Scunder and BOC Sciences' products accounted for 78.6% and 75.8%, respectively. The concentration of the oligomer in air for the Oxy product was estimated to be 35.89 and 390.96 μg/m3 at 6.5 and 65 ppm, respectively. Most of the oligomers in the solution were found in air at a short distance (0.5 m), with a negligible concentration beyond 1 m. Oligomers with 1–7 monomer units were identified in the humidifier solution, whereas mainly monomers, dimers, and trimers were identified in the air. The results of this study will facilitate further investigations of the mechanisms of lung disease by identifying the behaviors and forms of PHMG in the air, along with previously revealed toxicity results. Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease are the two most common neurodegenerative diseases globally. These neurodegenerative diseases have characteristic late-stage symptoms allowing for differential diagnosis; however, they both share the presence of misfolded protein aggregates which appear years before clinical manifestation. Historically, research has focused on the detection of higher-ordered aggregates (or amyloids); however, recent evidence has shown that the oligomeric state of these protein aggregates plays a greater role in disease pathology, resulting in increased efforts to detect oligomers to aid in disease diagnosis. In this review, we summarize some of the exciting new developments towards the development of fluorescent probes that can detect oligomeric aggregates of amyloidogenic proteins present in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease patients. Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a polyester attracting growing interest every year in different application fields, such as packaging, cosmetics, food, medicine, etc. Despite its significant advantages, it has low elasticity that may hinder further development and a corresponding rise in volume of consumption. This review opens a discussion of basic approaches to PLA plasticization. These considerations include copolymerization and blending with flexible polymers, introducing oligomers and low-molecular additives, as well as structural modification. It was demonstrated that each approach has its advantages, such as simplicity and low cost, but with disadvantages, including complex processing and the need for additional reagents. According to the analysis of different approaches, it was concluded that the optimal option is the application of copolymers as the additives obtained via reactive mixing to PLA and its blends with other polymers. Anthocyanin oligomers (AOs) are phytochemicals synthesized by fermenting anthocyanins extracted from grape skins and are more biologically active than monomeric anthocyanins. In this study, we evaluate the effects of an AO on triple-negative MDA-MB-231 and HER2-overexpressing SK-BR-3 breast cancer cells. The cell viability of MDA-MB-231 and SK-BR-3 cells was significantly inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner by AO treatment for 24 h, while delphinidin (a monomeric anthocyanin) had no effect on cell viability. In addition, the AO increased H2A.X phosphorylation (a marker of DNA damage), reduced RAD51 (a DNA repair protein) and survivin (a cell survival factor) protein levels, and induced apoptosis by caspase-3-dependent PARP1 cleavage in both cell lines. Surprisingly, the AO induced autophagy by increasing intracellular LC3-II puncta and LC3-II and p62 protein levels. In addition, the AO inhibited the mTOR pathway in MDA-MB-231 and SK-BR-3 cells by suppressing the HER2, EGFR1, and AKT pathways. These results demonstrate that the anti-cancer effect of the AO was due to the induction of apoptosis and autophagy via cleaved caspase-3-mediated PARP1 cleavage and mTOR pathway inhibition, respectively.
