In the context of green and sustainable development and rural revitalization, analysis of the relationship between economic development and the evolution of carbon metabolism is of great significance for China's future transformation of development models. This study analyzed the spatial characteristics and spatiotemporal evolution pattern of the decoupling status between carbon metabolism and economic development of Laiwu during two periods from 2001 to 2018 at the village and town unit scales by using the Tapio decoupling model. The results showed that the growth rate of carbon metabolism from 2001 to 2009 was significantly higher than that from 2009 to 2018. The spatial heterogeneity of the decoupling states between economic development and carbon metabolism from 2009 to 2018 was significantly stronger than that from 2001 to 2009 in two units. From 2001 to 2018, the development trend gradually trended towards spatial imbalance. The decoupling status between villages and towns had a high degree of consistency from 2001 to 2009 and inconsistency from 2009 to 2018. From 2001 to 2009, the decoupling status of about 78% of villages was consistent with that of towns. Moreover, from 2009 to 2018, the consistency reduced to 32.2%, and the decoupling status of about 48% of villages was weaker than that of towns. According to the reclassification results of different decoupling state change types, from 2001 to 2018, about 52.2% of the villages had a decoupling state evolution type of eco-deteriorated economic development, which is an unsatisfactory development trend in a short time. Excessive fertilizer input, low nutrient use efficiency, soil quality, and environmental degradation hinder greenhouse vegetable production. Integrated agronomic strategies of soil, crop, and nutrient management are needed to sharply improve the vegetable yield and simultaneously maintain sustainable production. A three-season field experiment was conducted from 2015 to 2018, aiming to evaluate the effect of integrated soil–crop system management (ISSM) on the agronomy, environment, and economy of greenhouse vegetable systems in the Yangtze River Basin, China. Three treatments were included in the experiment: (1) farmers' current practice (FP), based on a local farmers' survey; (2) soil remediation treatment (SR), the application of soil conditioner and compost fertilizer instead of chicken manure; (3) ISSM, a combination of soil conditioner, reducing plant density, and using formula fertilizer as well as increasing the fertilization times. The results indicated that ISSM (47.7 Mg ha−1) improved the pepper yield by 17% relative to farmers' current practice (FP, 40.7 Mg ha−1). Soil remediation (SR), as a single approach, mainly made a contribution to improving the yield (by 6.9%) and nutrient use efficiency while reducing apparent nitrogen (N) losses. Higher yields were mainly attributed to increasing the fruit number per plant. On average, apparent N losses were reduced by 245 kg N ha−1 per season for ISSM compared to FP. In addition, higher net profits were obtained under SR and ISSM relative to FP. Overall, both SR and ISSM have advantages for the agronomy, environment, and economy in greenhouse vegetable production, but ISSM would be the optimal choice to achieve higher yields with lower environmental impacts. Background: Occupational stress is becoming a common phenomenon around the world. Being in a high occupational stress state for a long time may destroy the metabolic balance of the body, thereby increasing the risk of metabolic diseases. There is limited evidence regarding the correlation between occupational stress and metabolic syndrome (MetS), particularly in the petrochemical workers. Methods: A total of 1683 workers of a petrochemical enterprise in China were included in the survey by cluster sampling method. The occupational stress assessment was carried out by the Job Content Questionnaire and the Effort-Reward Imbalance Questionnaire, and the general demographic characteristics, work characteristics, occupational hazards, lifestyle and health examination data of the participants were collected. Logistic regression and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the correlations and influencing factors between occupational stress and its dimensions with MetS and its components. Results: A total of 1683 questionnaires were sent out, and 1608 were effectively collected, with an effective recovery rate of 95.54%. The detection rates of occupational stress in Job Demand-Control (JDC) and Effort-Reward Imbalance (ERI) models were 28.4% and 27.2%, respectively. In this study, 257 participants (16.0%) were diagnosed with MetS. Compared with the non-MetS group, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), triglycerides (TG) and fasting blood-glucose (FBG) levels were significantly higher in the MetS group, and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were significantly lower (P < 0.001). The results of multiple linear regression showed that after adjusting for nation, marital status, education, work system, smoking and drinking, and further adjusting for occupational hazards, the D/C ratio was significantly negatively correlated with SBP in the JDC model. Social support was negatively correlated with WC. In the ERI model, there was a significant positive correlation between over-commitment and FBG. Conclusions: The detection rates of occupational stress and MetS were high in workers of a petrochemical enterprise. In the JDC model, occupational stress was negatively correlated with SBP, and social support was negatively correlated with WC. In the grey prediction, the GM(1, 1) model is an important type, but it sometimes shows big prediction errors. To improve the prediction precision of GM(1, 1) model, the paper makes improvements from the following three aspects: (1) to improve the data's adaptability to the model, the paper transforms the accumulated generating sequence of original time sequence; (2) to make the model meet the variation characteristics of data, the paper extends the grey action of traditional GM(1, 1) model; (3) to avoid big average simulation or prediction relative error of model, the paper considers the minimum of the maximum of the two errors as the optimization objective function. The new extended grey model is called the GM(1, 1, exp × sin, exp × cos) model. The paper uses an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for the parameter optimization of GM(1, 1, exp × sin, exp × cos) model and thus improves the model's convergence rate and precision. [Display omitted] • Ancient reservoir sediments can be used as a potential tool for reconstructing long-term history of human activity and water level. • Anthropogenic activities had significantly affected vegetation conditions in the western Guizhou Plateau since ∼ 1700 CE. • Human-modulated dramatic fluctuation in the water level can markedly change reservoir ecosystem. Knowledge of the responses of reservoir ecosystems to anthropogenic and climatic impacts on multi-centennial timescales is relatively poor, but is crucial for the management of numerous reservoirs in China. In this study, the history of an ancient reservoir system was reconstructed for the last ∼ 700 yr based on multiple dating methods (210Pb, 137Cs, and 14C) and geochemical data (e.g., the mass accumulation rates, loss-on-ignition values, total organic carbon, total nitrogen, total phosphorus contents, and stable carbon isotope ratios of organic matter) obtained for sediment cores from Gongqing Reservoir in Guizhou Province, southwestern China. Combined with historical literature and regional climatic records, the response of the aquatic ecosystem in Gongqing Reservoir to water level fluctuations, anthropogenic activity, and climatic changes during the last ∼ 700 yr was assessed. The results suggest that dramatic changes in the water level due to dam heightening in 1950 s significantly changed the aquatic ecosystem of Gongqing Reservoir. During periods of low water levels (average water depth = 1–2 m; 1345–1957 CE), aquatic macrophytes contributed more to the sedimentary organic matter, whereas phytoplankton increasingly contributed more during periods of high water levels (∼ 5 m; 1957–2020 CE). During the late stage (1700–1957 CE) of low water levels, the reservoir ecosystem was significantly affected by human activities. Combined with regional geological and historical records, we consider that increased population and enhanced human activities have markedly affected vegetation conditions in western Guizhou Province since ∼ 1700 CE. After 1957 CE, anthropogenic activities were key in affecting the aquatic ecosystem of Gongqing Reservoir. Especially in the last decade, large housing developments and enhanced agricultural activities in the watershed have led to enhanced catchment erosion and transport of more nutrients into the reservoir, thus promoting the algae productivity. These results provide new insights into how reservoir ecosystems respond to water level fluctuations, anthropogenic activity and climatic changes on multi-centennial timescales. • The ET value of various crops in different soils were determined by SWAP model. • Farmland target ET indicator was separated from the regional target ET. • Soil and water resources were optimally allocated under farmland target ET. • Multi-objective optimal allocation of soil and water resources model was established. • The results showed that the economic benefit and water use efficiency were improved. There is a mismatch between crop water demand, the spatial and temporal distribution of natural rainfall, surface water sources, and arable land resources in the North China Plain. This has been compensated for by massive groundwater exploitation, and as a result, ground water levels have continuously declined and groundwater landing funnels have formed in some areas. Consequently, there is an urgent need for the rational allocation of soil and water resources. In this study, regional soil types and the corresponding crops in Guangping County, Hebei Province, China, alongside the regional annual average total water consumption were used to determine reasonable allocations for crop planting structures, with an aim of maximizing the water utilization efficiency and economic benefits while also achieving a regional groundwater dynamic equilibrium. Daily meteorological data from 1973 to 2021, including precipitation, temperature, sunshine hours, wind speed, and humidity, as well as crop data, including irrigation systems and crop growth status, were collected. Water consumption models for eight soil types and seven typical crops forming 56 calculation partitions were established to obtain annual average water consumption values for the different crops. The maximum economic benefit and water-use efficiency were then used as the objective functions and total water consumption as the control condition for the non-dominated sorted genetic algorithm-Ⅱ (NSGA-II), to optimize the allocation of soil and water resources in the region; the adjusted quantities for the different crops cultivated under different soil types in the study area were obtained. The areas growing sweet potato and vegetable-fruits were found to increase by 0.5255 km2 and 4.4452 km2, respectively, when compared to the pre-optimization period, whereas the areas with winter wheat-summer maize, millet, peanut, cotton, and summer maize decreased by 1.3481 km2, 0.1812 km2, 0.7316 km2, 2.0896 km2, and 0.62 km2, respectively. The economic benefit increased from 810.37 to 853.64 million yuan, while the water-use efficiency increased from 1.5426 kg/m3 to 1.5859 kg/m3. The results provide a basis for soil and water resource management in the region and a technical reference for similar areas to improve agricultural water-use efficiency and economic benefits. • Constructed a groundwater numerical model by Visual MODFLOW and studized the feasibility of mine water recharge to aquifers. • Analyzed the impact of mine water recharge on the water level and inflow of aquifers. • To ensure the safe mining in the future, the dynamic water inflow under different mining levels was predicted. Water inflow poses a critical safety concern in coal mining. The pressing challenge in current mine water inflow research is the need to enhance the prediction of dynamic changes in mine water inflow across different mining stages. In this study, the hydrogeological conditions and aquifer structural characteristics of the Wutongzhuang Coal Mine in Hebei Province, China were analyzed, and the results were combined with pumping test and drilling data. A numerical model of groundwater flow in the study area was established using Visual MODFLOW and the model was calibrated and verified by comparing its results with the measured values to ensure that it realistically reflected the state of groundwater movement in the study area. The results of numerical simulation indicated that: (1) The water level of the Ordovician aquifer varies significantly by season. A large exposed area of Ordovician limestone in the western mountainous region receives a large amount of rainfall infiltration recharge in the summer rainy period that raises the water level of the Ordovician aquifer in the study area. (2) The groundwater system in the study area is in an equilibrium state, with the water inflow approximately equal to the outflow. (3) The recharge of mine drainage water has a slight positive effect on the Ordovician water level and the floor water inflow, with the impact on the water level of the aquifer decreasing as the distance from the recharge well and the import of Ordovician limestone water increase. In cases in which there is mine water recharge, the water level of the Ordovician aquifer is approximately 0.33 to 1.37 m higher than in cases without recharge, resulting in an increase in water inflow of approximately 10.6 m3/d. (4) In cases in which there is recharge of all drainage water, the maximum water inflow into the fifth mining area is 3,491.3 m3/d, which is 12.5 m3/d higher than in the case without recharge. Background: Varicellovirus equidalpha1 (formerly Equid alphaherpesvirus 1, EqAHV-1) is among the most important viruses responsible for respiratory disease outbreaks among horses throughout the world. No reports to date have detailed the association between EqAHV-1 and respiratory disease among horses in China. This study described one such outbreak among a population of horses in north Xinjiang that occurred from April 2021 - May 2023. Results: qPCR revealed that EqAHV-1 was detectable in all samples and this virus was identified as a possible source of respiratory disease, although a limited subset of these samples were also positive for EqAHV-2, EqAHV-4, and EqAHV-5. In total, three EqAHV-1 strains responsible for causing respiratory illness in horses were isolated successfully, and full-length ORF33 sequence comparisonsand phylogenetic analyses indicated that these isolates may have originated from EqAHV-1 strains detected in Yili horse abortions. ORF30 sequence data additionally suggested that these strains were neuropathic, as evidenced by the presence of a guanine residue at nucleotide position 2254 corresponding to the aspartic acid present at position 752 in the DNA polymerase encoded by this virus. Conclusion: This study is the first report of an outbreak of respiratory disease among horses in China caused by EqAHV-1. ORF30 sequence characterization revealed that these EqAHV-1 strains harbored a neuropathogenic genotype. Mining-induced disturbance to stress fields can lead to many engineering disasters such as rock bursts, roadway collapses, and coal and gas outbursts. The evolution characteristic of abutment pressure during the mining process is of great significance for prevention of engineering disasters. Based on a case study of No.12526E Panel in Xieqiao coalmine of Huainan mining area in China, this paper investigated the evolution characteristic of abutment pressure during the retreat mining process. A field measurement was performed using three-dimensional (3D) pressure sensor, and the abutment pressure was continuously monitored during the mining process. The monitoring results indicate that the abutment pressure curve can be divided into strong interference area and weak interference area. Further, the evolution characteristics of abutment pressure during the retreat mining process were simulated using a 3D discrete-element program. Periodic caving characteristics of rock strata were obtained, and the major causes of stress concentration and the bearing stress inflection point were analyzed. With the periodic caving of the overlying strata, the stress inflection point appears, and fracture cracks are generated and hinder stress recovery. Finally, the detailed dynamic evolution process of the abutment pressure as well as the deformation and caving characteristics of the overlying strata of the No.12526E Panel were analyzed. The coal and rock near the mined-out area undergo a sharp stress concentration and reduction, which would lead to damage to the rock mass near the mined-out area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Accurate forecasts of water demand are a crucial factor in the strategic planning and judicious use of finite water resources within a region, underpinning sustainable socio-economic development. This study aims to compare the applicability of various artificial intelligence models for long-term water demand forecasting across different water use sectors. We utilized the Tuojiang River basin in Sichuan Province as our case study, comparing the performance of five artificial intelligence models: Genetic Algorithm optimized Back Propagation Neural Network (GA-BP), Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), Support Vector Regression (SVR), and Random Forest (RF). These models were employed to predict water demand in the agricultural, industrial, domestic, and ecological sectors using actual water demand data and relevant influential factors from 2005 to 2020. Model performance was evaluated based on the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), with the most effective model used for 2025 water demand projections for each sector within the study area. Our findings reveal that the GPR model demonstrated superior results in predicting water demand for the agricultural, domestic, and ecological sectors, attaining R2 values of 0.9811, 0.9338, and 0.9142 for the respective test sets. Also, the GA-BP model performed optimally in predicting industrial water demand, with an R2 of 0.8580. The dynamic effect is a very important issue widely debated by scholars when studying the genetic and disaster-causing mechanisms of earthquake-triggered landslides. First, the dynamic effect mechanism and phenomena of earthquake-triggered landslides were summarized in this paper. Then, the primary types of dynamic effects were further used to interpret the Mogangling landslide in Moxi Town of Luding County, China. A field investigation, remote sensing, numerical calculation and theoretical analysis were carried out to illustrate the failure mechanism of slope rock masses affected by earthquakes. The interaction between seismic waves and slope rock masses and the induced dynamic effect of slope rock masses were primarily accounted for in the analysis. The slope topography, rock mass weathering and unloading characteristics, river erosion, regional seismogenic structure, and rock mass structure characteristics were also discussed. The results showed that the formation of the Mogangling landslide was mainly related to the high amplification effect of seismic acceleration and back slope effects, interface dynamic stress effects, and double-sided slope effects of seismic waves caused by the catastrophic Ms 7.75 Moxi Earthquake in 1786. The principles for the site and route selection of large-scale infrastructure in the planning stage and the scientific prevention of seismic geological disasters were proposed on the basis of the dynamic effect of earthquake-induced landslides. The present study sought to propose Ganoderma guixiense sp. nov. as a new species based on phenotypic and genotypic evidence. Phylogenetic analyses were carried out based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), the large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU), and the second subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB2) sequence data. G. guixiense has been characterized by pileate basidiomata, long stipe, in addition to reddish-black zonate pileal surface. Basidiospores are broadly ellipsoid with one end tapering at maturity, and measuring 9–12.8 × 6.5–9.3 μm. Basidia are oval to subglobose. This study marks the first exploration of the biological characteristics of G. guixiense. The result indicated that the optimal medium of mycelial growth was observed on malt extract agar (MEA) and yeast extract peptone dextrose agar (YPD) while the optimal temperature was found to be 25–30 °C with pH range of 6–7. Hydrogen is not only an important energy carrier needed to achieve the global goal of carbon neutrality, but also an important way of international energy trade in the future. This research analyzes the advantages and challenges of China's participation in international hydrogen trade in detail, proposes the possible routes of China's international hydrogen trade, and proposes specific measures to enhance China's participation in international hydrogen trade. This paper proposes that China should take green hydrogen as its development direction, and guide the development of China's hydrogen trade with the principle of blue green cooperation and gray hydrogen withdrawal. In the future, China's hydrogen trade forms will be diversified, and the types of trade will cover the entire hydrogen energy industry chain. Therefore, China should accelerate the overall deployment of hydrogen trade and the construction of hydrogen trade infrastructure, and build a more sophisticated hydrogen economy. The FY-3E satellite plasma analyzer marks China's first detection of the characteristics, occurrence, and development of the typical plasma environment in the dawn–dusk orbit space. It provides data source support for operational space weather alerts and forecasts, helps ensure the in-orbit safety of the satellite, and accumulates space environment detection data for space environment modeling and space physics research. This paper gives a detailed introduction to the detection technology adopted by the FY-3E satellite plasma analyzer. We calibrated its performance through a calibration experiment and then analyzed and compared it with similar instruments in China. It is indicated that the instrument is capable of measuring an ion energy spectrum of 24 eV~32 keV and an electron energy spectrum of 23.7 eV~31.6 keV, its field of view reaches 180° × 90°, and the inversed measurement range of spacecraft absolute potential is better than −30 kV~+30 kV. Exploring the distribution characteristics of plant community functional diversity, functional traits and plant and soil carbon stocks along elevation and the effects of functional diversity and functional traits on carbon stocks is of great significance for revealing the distribution characteristics of plant community functional diversity and carbon stocks in the desert area and understanding the carbon accumulation mechanism. In this study, we took the leaf functional traits of plant community species and the carbon stocks of plants and soils of sample plots in the pre-Hola Mountain desert area as the research objects and explored their altitudinal distribution characteristics and their interrelationships. The results showed that (1) the plant carbon storage capacity of the shrub - herb association was the strongest, and the soil carbon storage capacity of the herb association was the strongest. (2) Functional richness and plant carbon storage capacity tended to increase and then decrease with elevation, while functional evenness and leaf phosphorus content tended to decrease and then increase with elevation. Functional dispersion, leaf water content, chlorophyll content, leaf carbon, nitrogen content, and soil carbon stock all showed a gradual increase with elevation, and the total carbon stock gradually increased with elevation in the middle and low elevation areas (1200–1800 m), and showed a wave-like change in the high elevation areas (1800–2400 m). (3) The accumulation of soil carbon stocks in the study area is mainly dominated by the "mass ratio hypothesis", while the accumulation of plant carbon stocks is mainly dominated by the "ecological niche complementarity hypothesis", and plant and soil carbon stocks are mainly affected by the specific leaf area and the content of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in leaves. The Changjiang uranium (U) orefield in northern Guangdong (South China) contains several important granite-related uranium deposits, including the Mianhuakeng deposit. The hydrothermal evolution and mineralization mechanism of the deposit remain unclear, and hence in this study we analyzed the mineral compositional variations of pitchblende from different elevation (−300 to −50 m) in the orebody at Mianhuakeng deposit. The results indicate that with decreasing depth, the hydrothermal mineral assemblage changes from a reducing one (pitchblende, pyrite, and chlorite) to a moderately oxidizing one (pitchblende, coffinite, hematite, and goethite). The contents of U, Sr, ∑REE, U/Th, and LREE/HREE ratios in the pitchblende decrease (whereas the Cu-Pb-Zn-Ni-Co-Sc-Rb contents increase) progressively with decreasing depth. Also, Ce anomaly (Ce/Ce*) changes from positive to negative, and Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu*) becomes more negative with decreasing depth. We interpreted such vertical variations to be caused by the ascent of deep, mid-to-high temperature, highly-oxidizing ore-forming fluid, which was reduced by early-stage reducing minerals in the wallrock, a process that also formed the mineralization at Changjiang. In addition, the pitchblende REE distribution patterns and Eu/Eu* at depth (−300 m) resemble those of the Zhuguang pluton, indicating that the ore-forming materials were originated from the U-bearing granite wallrocks. Aspergillus flavus is a ubiquitous facultative pathogen that routinely infects important crops leading to formation of aflatoxins during crop development and after harvest. Corn and peanuts in warm and/or drought-prone regions are highly susceptible to aflatoxin contamination. Controlling aflatoxin using atoxigenic A. flavus is a widely adopted strategy. However, no A. flavus genotypes are currently approved for use in China. The current study aimed to select atoxigenic A. flavus endemic to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with potential as active ingredients of aflatoxin biocontrol products. A total of 204 A. flavus isolates from corn, peanuts, and field soil were evaluated for ability to produce the targeted mycotoxins. Overall, 57.3% could not produce aflatoxins while 17.15% were incapable of producing both aflatoxins and CPA. Atoxigenic germplasm endemic to Guangxi was highly diverse, yielding 8 different gene deletion patterns in the aflatoxin and CPA biosynthesis gene clusters ranging from no deletion to deletion of both clusters. Inoculation of corn and peanuts with both an aflatoxin producer and selected atoxigenic genotypes showed significant reduction (74 to 99%) in aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1) formation compared with inoculation with the aflatoxin producer alone. Atoxigenic genotypes also efficiently degraded AFB 1 (61%). Furthermore, atoxigenic isolates were also highly efficient at reducing aflatoxin concentrations even when present at lower concentrations than aflatoxin producers. The use of multiple atoxigenics was not always as effective as the use of a single atoxigenic. Effective atoxigenic genotypes of A. flavus with known mechanisms of atoxigenicity are demonstrated to be endemic to Southern China. These A. flavus may be utilized as active ingredients of biocontrol products without concern for detrimental impacts that may result from introduction of exotic fungi. Field efficacy trials in the agroecosystems of Southern China are needed to determine the extent to which such products may allow the production of safer food and feed. Atoxigenic A. flavus isolates obtained from naturally contaminated sources, screened for aflatoxin production potential and molecular basis of atoxigenecity. Selected atoxigenic isolates effectively reduced aflatoxin formation in corn and peanuts when co-inoculated with toxigenic A. flavus.
