The safety of automobiles greatly relies on their braking systems. Conventional braking systems, while functional, come with inherent limitations and drawbacks. To overcome these challenges and provide a more efficient and reliable alternative, this research project focuses on designing and developing an innovative Contactless Electromechanical Braking System (CEMBS) based on the principle of eddy current for automotive applications. The study involves the generation of a design model for the CEMBS, followed by the development of an experimental setup. To evaluate its performance, the electromechanical braking system is compared against traditional disc brakes, as well as a combination of the electromechanical and disc braking methods. The findings reveal that the combination of electromechanical and disc braking yields superior efficiency compared to both the standalone electromechanical braking system and the individual disc brake.
