A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston has identified genetic variants associated with cognitive function in diverse Hispanic and Latino adults. The study used admixture mapping and fine-mapping analyses to identify ancestry-of-origin loci influencing cognitive abilities. The researchers identified nine local ancestry-associated regions for five neurocognitive measures and found statistical evidence of independent replication at three of these regions.
