Lung cancer screening via low-dose computed tomography (CT) reduces mortality from lung cancer, and eligibility criteria have recently been expanded to include patients aged 50 to 80 with at least 20 pack-years of smoking history. Lung cancer screening CTs should be interepreted with use of Lung Imaging Reporting and Data System (Lung-RADS), a reporting guideline system that accounts for nodule size, density, and growth. The revised version of Lung-RADS includes several important changes, such as expansion of the definition of juxtapleural nodules, discussion of atypical pulmonary cysts, and stepped management for suspicious nodules. By using Lung-RADS, radiologists and clinicians can adopt a uniform approach to nodules detected during CT lung cancer screening and reduce false positives.

The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) is a landmark environmental policy. It broadly empowers the federal government to manage hazardous waste sites to ensure the protection of human and environmental health. In many ways, CERCLA is the result of the environmental justice movement, and public concern about hazardous sites. Because the goal of CERCLA is explicitly managing risk from hazardous sites, it is central to the regulatory structure for management of environmental injustice in the United States of America. However, CERCLA does not fully consider the full scope of environmental justice, and may fail to fully ensure environmental justice for communities impacted directly by proximity to hazardous sites. Specifically, the use of institutional controls such as fish consumption advisories as long terms risk management strategies may prolong and compound environmental injustice as a matter of policy.

Apathy reflects diminished motivation, goal-directed behavior, and emotions, as well as less engagement in social interactions. Apathy overlaps with depression and is associated with cognitive decline. In the older individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD), both depression and cognitive impairments are common, but apathy symptoms have been underreported. We investigated the occurrence of apathy symptoms and their associations with physical and cognitive functioning, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and mortality in older patients with CKD.
