Background: The use of online information and communication is globally increasing in the healthcare sector. In addition to known benefits in other medical fields, possible specific potentials of eHealth lie in the monitoring of oncological patients undergoing outpatient therapy. Specifically, the treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) requires intensive monitoring due to various possible negative side effects. The present study explores cancer patients' perspectives on eHealth and demonstrates how eHealth applications, from the patients' point of view, can contribute to further improving outpatient immunotherapy. Methods and findings: Our multicenter study was executed at the university hospitals in Bonn and Aachen. A structured questionnaire was distributed to patients receiving outpatient immunotherapy. Contents addressed were (1) the patients' attitude towards eHealth applications, (2) the use of modern information and communications technologies (ICT) in (2a) everyday life and (2b) health-related information search including eHealth literacy, (3) the use of internet-enabled devices as well as (4) socio-demographic data. 164 patients were included in the study, of whom 39.0% were female and 61.0% male and the average age was 62.8 years. Overall, there was a high distribution of internet-enabled devices for everyday use and a great interest in integrating eHealth applications into outpatient immunotherapy. The assessment of eHealth potentials significantly depended on age. The younger participants demonstrated a broader use of modern ICT and a higher affinity for its use in outpatient immunotherapy. In some aspects, level of education and gender were also relevant factors influencing the patients' view on eHealth. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the potential for further integration of eHealth applications into outpatient immunotherapy from the patients' perspective. It indicates a dependency on age and educational level for the further integration of eHealth into patient care in oncology. Due to particular patient needs regarding age, level of education, gender and other subgroups, specific education and training as well as target-group specific digital health interventions are necessary to fully utilize the potentials of eHealth for outpatient immunotherapy. Future studies are required to specifically address target-group specific usability of eHealth applications and eHealth literacy, as well as to address information security and data protection. On stage, and in real life, timing is critical for success. Theranostic cancer care epitomizes the central role of timing in the evolution of efficacious molecular targeted radioligand therapy and its incorporation into routine clinical practice of oncology. Nuclear medicine has returned to its therapeutic roots, having been founded as a medical specialty, over three-quarters of a century ago, with radioiodine therapy of thyroid cancer. The very recent oncologist acceptance of 68Ga/177Lu/225Ac-PSMA effectiveness in treating prostate cancer has re-established the role of the physician in nuclear medicine. This article addresses various important issues in respect of timing related to this resurgence. Training of the required new workforce in technical -omics expertise and physicianly virtues is an urgent priority. Precision in radioligand therapy requires definition of individual radiation absorbed dose (Gy) to tumor and to critical normal organs, preferably prospectively. It is time to abandon one-size-fits-all administration of fixed activities (GBq) in arbitrary cycle intervals and duration. The time has also come to design combination sequenced theranostic-immuno-chemotherapeutic approaches to metastatic cancer to address unmet needs, particularly in pancreatic carcinoma; exploiting the potential of new fibroblast activation protein inhibitor radioligands targeting the tumor microenvironment. Public perception of all things "nuclear," including nuclear medicine, has recently recovered from the general opprobrium and radiophobia of the last half-century. Nuclear is the new green. Simple Summary: Cancer treatments traditionally focus on the type of tissue where the cancer starts, but recent research has shifted to targeting genetic changes that drive cancer growth, regardless of where the tumor originates. This approach is known as histology-agnostic therapy. In this review, we provide an update on these therapies, focusing on several newly developed drugs that are changing the way cancer is treated. Our goal was to explain how these drugs work, the benefits they offer, and the challenges that remain, such as resistance to treatment. This research may help doctors and researchers better understand how to choose the right treatments for patients with different types of cancer. By addressing the strengths and limitations of histology-agnostic therapies, we hope to support ongoing efforts in cancer treatment and encourage further studies to improve outcomes for patients. Recent advancements in oncology have led to the development of histology-agnostic therapies, which target genetic alterations irrespective of the tumor's tissue of origin. This review aimed to provide a comprehensive update on the current state of histology-agnostic drug development, focusing on key therapies, including pembrolizumab, larotrectinib, entrectinib, dostarlimab, dabrafenib plus trametinib, selpercatinib, trastuzumab deruxtecan, and reprotrectinib. We performed a detailed analysis of each therapy's mechanism of action, clinical trial outcomes, and associated biomarkers. The review further explores challenges in drug resistance, such as adaptive signaling pathways and neoantigen variability, as well as diagnostic limitations in identifying optimal patient populations. While these therapies have demonstrated efficacy in various malignancies, significant hurdles remain, including intratumoral heterogeneity and resistance mechanisms that diminish treatment effectiveness. We propose considerations for refining trial designs and emerging biomarkers, such as tumor neoantigen burden, to enhance patient selection. These findings illustrate the transformative potential of histology-agnostic therapies in precision oncology but highlight the need for continued research to optimize their use and overcome existing barriers. Chatbots, or conversational robots, have become a strategy or support tool for urologic patient care, diagnostic communication, and treatment. With regard to patients, studies have shown that chatbots can answer medical questions with similar percentages of acceptability as urologists. In addition, they can contribute to patient education, allowing them to ask questions that do not arise during medical consultation. They have also proven to be good tools for health promotion and disease prevention. These benefits can also serve doctors, as robots can support medical consultation and the reading of medical records, making patient care more efficient; however, there are several limitations, including the accuracy of bot-generated answers and the acceptability that urologists give to this type of tool. Approximately one-third of Americans use healthcare approaches including herbs and botanicals, such as St. John's wort (SJW), to improve overall well-being, gain control over their health, and manage the adverse reactions of conventional therapies. This article examines the use of SJW in cancer care, discussing its pharmacokinetics, toxicity, and potential interactions with cancer treatments while emphasizing the importance of patient education and collaboration between oncology nurses and pharmacists to ensure safe and effective care. This paper demonstrates the essential nature of oncology social work and the critical role that oncology social workers (OSWs) play in the achievement of high-quality cancer care that improves patient outcomes, contains cost, advances population health, reduces provider burn-out among healthcare providers, and does it in a manner that addresses disparities and achieves equity. To this end, this paper's purpose is two-fold: (1) to review and demonstrate OSW contributions to the advancement of comprehensive cancer care over the last 15 years, and (2) to consider next steps for the Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW) and the Oncology Social Work profession to achieve its mission and calling. To enhance the viability and security of OSWs and the professional organizations that support them, this report summarizes a breadth and depth of work and includes recommendations for the profession. Purpose: Childhood or adolescent cancer survivors (CACS) are an understudied population in Colombia and, in general, in Central and South America. Worldwide, studies typically focus on high-income settings while approaching CACS' experiences from a biomedical or psychological perspective. However, both perspectives miss an important aspect of survivorship after childhood or adolescent cancer: the affected individual's subjective experiences of having a disabled body. This qualitative study aimed to explore the embodied experiences of Colombian adults who survived cancer during their childhood or adolescence to better understand how CACS relate to their altered body and world. Methods: By integrating phenomenological insights and conducting comprehensive life-story interviews, we explored the various ways in which survivors' cancer experiences affect their bodily sense of self—from the acute phase of the disease until well into adulthood. A total of ten life-stories interviews and one focus group were carried out with seven CACS. All participants were survivors of a different type of childhood/adolescent cancer. The results were analyzed thematically, focusing on the embodied aspects of participants' experiences. Results: We developed three main themes regarding the embodied cancer experience among participating CACS: Firstly, participants' body changes because of the cancer and its treatment, which makes them aware of their body. Secondly, they adapt to this experience in different bodily ways. Finally, they carry bodily traces of their cancer experience in the present as well as into the future. Conclusions: The CACS participating in this study report that their experience with cancer has been embodied throughout their lives, changing their sense of their body and how they relate to it, and leaving traces into the present and their imagined future. Childhood cancers are life-threatening diseases that affect the whole family. During the treatment moral situations might arise. Research on how parents perceive moral challenges in childhood cancer care is sparse. The aim was to explore parents' main concern, and how they deal with their main concern, when facing moral challenges in childhood cancer care. Data collection included focus group interviews with parents. The data analysis was carried out according to a classical theory and revealed the core category "Sheltering in chaos". The strategies to handle the main concern included "To bring the child through a life-saving trajectory" by "Balancing control" and "Deliberating of suffering. The consequences included feelings of being "Torn between roles". "Familiarity" emerged as a facilitating factor to handle moral challenges. The results indicate that parents are torn between different roles, and that the care experience is improved through familiarity with the healthcare professionals. Problematic integration theory is a theory in communication that deals with the processing of messages by humans. It is helpful to study challenges and their solutions in the health communication context to develop effective relationships, treat patients, and, ultimately, ensure the well-being of society. A scoping review was conducted. Three databases were searched following the PRISMA‐ScR statement without a time frame. Independent screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts was performed, and the studies selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria were assessed. The required information was then extracted from the studies and entered into Excel software. A total of 43 studies related to PI theory were identified in the databases. The results indicated that PI theory is used to interpret feelings, beliefs, challenges, concerns, and problematic dilemmas in five thematic categories: elderly care, cancer care, infertility, pregnancy, and childbirth care, illness care, and sexual care. Each of the papers also offers distinctive and valuable considerations for interventions such as communication strategies, coping mechanisms, uncertainty and certainty management, information management, education, training, support groups, and campaigns to improve decision-making and meet the challenges of health communication. Oncology clinicians often miss opportunities to communicate empathy to patients. The current study examined the relationship between implicit bias (based on cancer type and ethnicity) and medical students' empathic communication in encounters with standardized patients who presented as Hispanic (lung or colorectal) individuals diagnosed with cancer. Participants (101 medical students) completed the Implicit Association Test (IAT) to measure implicit bias based on cancer type (lung v. colorectal) and ethnicity (Hispanic v. non-Hispanic White). Empathic opportunities and responses (assessed by the Empathic Communication Coding System; ECCS) were evaluated in a mock consultation (Objective Structured Clinical Examination; OSCE) focused on smoking cessation in the context of cancer. Among the 241 empathic opportunities identified across the 101 encounters (M = 2.4), 158 (65.6%) received high empathy responses from the medical students. High empathy responses were most frequently used during challenge (73.2%) and emotion (77.3%) opportunities compared to progress (45.9%) opportunities. Higher levels of implicit bias against Hispanics predicted lower odds of an empathic response from the medical student (OR = 3.24, p =.04, 95% CI = 0.09–0.95). PROBLEM STATEMENT: To define the Oncology Nursing Society Research Agenda for 2024-2027. DESIGN: An iterative, multiple data sources consolidation through the Research Agenda Project Team. DATA SOURCES: Previous research priorities, literature review, stakeholder survey, and research priorities from other cancer care organizations and funding agencies. FINDINGS: 10 evergreen statements articulated foundational values for oncology nurse scientists, and 5 topics emerged as research priorities for the upcoming three years: Advance patient-centric, precision symptom science; provide evidence for safe and effective cancer care delivery models and support of the oncology nursing workforce; describe the impact of the environment on cancer care outcomes; integrate patient navigation into cancer care across the trajectory; and advance the use of innovative methodologies in oncology nursing research. The clinical landscape for endometrial cancer in the UK is evolving to include new management guidelines and targeted treatment options. An understanding of current treatment and management practices in the UK will help services plan and adapt to upcoming changes. The purpose of this survey was to understand current and anticipated real-world practices for endometrial cancer care in the UK and potential areas for optimisation. Telephone interviews were conducted in November/December 2021 with UK-based healthcare professionals involved in endometrial cancer management. Questions were aligned with the British Gynaecological Cancer Society/European Society for Medical Oncology recommendations, covering the pathway from diagnosis and treatment to follow-up. A total of 63 healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in the management of patients with endometrial cancer participated in telephone interviews. The results highlighted variations in management and treatment practices for endometrial cancer and suggest that current UK practice appears to diverge from national and international guidance in some instances. While somatic mismatch repair deficiency testing was used by 89.7% of respondents as mainstream testing, the survey highlighted a lack of access to other key molecular biomarker tests, such as polymerase epsilon (POLE) sequencing (used by only 9.8% of HCPs at the time of the survey). The results highlighted several perceived practical barriers to the swift adoption of new therapeutic options, including funding access, limited staff, treatment-related resources, staff education, and support. Thymic carcinoma (TC) is a rare form of highly invasive tumors. Currently, the standard first-line therapy involves paclitaxel plus carboplatin treatment, while the recommended regimen for second-line therapy remains uncertain. The purpose of this study is to explore the second-line mode of TC patients. We evaluated the outcome of subjects with advanced TC between 2009 and 2023 in three medical centers, retrospectively. Tumor response was evaluated according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors, version 1.1 (RECIST v1.1). Kaplan-Meier was used for calculating Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). The factors affecting survival in the real world were evaluated by Cox analysis. Totally 136 patients were included in this study, the median PFS (mPFS) for all subjects was 5.97 months, and the median OS (mOS) was 25.03 months. According to patient's treatment modes, they are divided into monotherapy (n = 95) and combination therapy (n = 41), PFS manifested the difference between two groups (5.17 vs. 9.00 months, P = 0.043). OS also indicated a significant distinction (22.50 vs. 38.00 months, P = 0.017). Furthermore, there was a significant difference in PFS between patients using immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy and those with antivascular therapy (8.57 vs. 13.10 months, P = 0.047). In the second-line therapy for advanced TC, the efficacy of combination therapy was better than monotherapy, especially for immunotherapy combined with antivascular therapy. • One hundred and thirty-six patients were enrolled, including 95 patients with monotherapy and 41 with combination therapy. • The efficacy of combination therapy was better than that of monotherapy. • Immunotherapy combined with anti-angiogenesis therapy showed better efficacy in second-line TC patients. Background: Clinical trials have become larger and more complex. Thus, eSource should be used to enhance efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the multisite implementation of eSource direct data capture (DDC), which we define as eCRFs for direct data entry in this study, on efficiency by analyzing data from a single investigator-initiated clinical trial in oncology. Methods: Operational data associated with the targeted study conducted in Japan was used to analyze time from data occurrence to data entry and data finalization, and number of visits to the site and time spent at the site by clinical research associates (CRAs). Additionally, simulations were performed on the change in hours at the clinical sites during the implementation of eSource DDC. Results: No difference in time from data occurrence to data entry was observed between the DDC and the transcribed data fields. However, the DDC fields could be finalized 4 days earlier than the non-DDC fields. Additionally, although no difference was observed in the number of visits for source data verification (SDV) by CRAs, a comparison among sites that introduced eSource DDC and those that did not showed that the time spent at the site for SDV was reduced. Furthermore, the simulation results indicated that even a small amount of data to be collected or a small percentage of DDC-capable items may lead to greater efficiency when the number of subjects per site is significant. Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer care with incredible reductions in mortality. One of the most devastating complications of treatment is ICI-related pneumonitis (ICI-p). Despite this, little is known regarding risk factors for severe pneumonitis and treatment effectiveness of various therapeutic options for steroid-refractory disease. To address this, we conducted a retrospective study on patients with cancer who developed ICI-p. Methods We examined consecutive patients who received ICIs and developed ICI-p. Risk factors of interest for severe disease and steroid-refractory ICI-p, including pre-treatment pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and chest imaging, were compared between patients with severe (grades 3-5) and mild (grades 1-2) pneumonitis. The clinical and treatment courses for patients with steroid-refractory ICI-p were recorded. Results A total of 132 patients developed ICI-p, with 60 patients having mild and 72 with severe disease. We found that lower forced vital capacity percent predicted (66.24 vs 85.05, P  = .05), lower total lung capacity percent predicted (85.23 vs 99.71, P  = .13), and specific radiographic patterns on pre-treatment chest imaging were predictors of severe disease. Initial corticosteroid dose of less than 1 milligram per kilogram prednisone equivalent (P  = .14) was correlated with partially steroid-responsive or steroid-refractory ICI-p. Ten patients had steroid refractory ICI-p, and those who received IVIG alone as the immune suppressant beyond corticosteroids had improved survival (P  = 05). Conclusions We are the first to identify pre-treatment PFTs and chest imaging abnormalities as risk factors for severe ICI-p. We also found that lower corticosteroid doses were associated with partially steroid-responsive and steroid-refractory ICI-p. Larger, prospective studies are needed to validate our results. Background Given the typical trajectory of glioblastoma, many patients lose decision-making capacity over time, which can lead to inadequate advance care planning (ACP) and end-of-life (EOL) care. We aimed to evaluate patients' current ACP and EOL care status. Patients and Methods We conducted a cohort study on 205 patients referred to oncologists at a Korean tertiary hospital between 2017 and 2022. We collected information on sociodemographic factors, cancer treatment, palliative care consultation, ACP, legal documents on life-sustaining treatment (LST) decisions, and aggressiveness of EOL care. Results With a median follow-up time of 18.3 months: 159 patients died; median overall survival: 20.3 months. Of the 159 patients, 11 (6.9%) and 63 (39.6%) had advance directive (AD) and LST plans, respectively, whereas 85 (53.5%) had neither. Among the 63 with LST plans, 10 (15.9%) and 53 (84.1%) completed their forms through self-determination and family determination, respectively. Of the 159 patients who died, 102 (64.2%) received palliative care consultation (median time: 44 days from the first consultation to death) and 78 (49.1%) received aggressive EOL care. Those receiving palliative care consultations were less likely to receive aggressive EOL care (83.3% vs 32.4%, P  < .001), and more likely to use more than 3 days of hospice care at EOL (19.6% vs 68.0%, P  < .001). Conclusions The right to self-determination remains poorly protected among patients with glioblastoma, with nearly 90% not self-completing AD or LST plan. As palliative care consultation is associated with less aggressive EOL care and longer use of hospice care, physicians should promptly introduce patients to ACP conversations and palliative care consultations. Older adults with cancer heterogeneously experience health care, treatment, and symptoms. Geriatric assessment (GA) offers a comprehensive evaluation of an older individual's health status and can predict cancer‐related outcomes in individuals with solid tumors and those with hematologic malignancies. In the last decade, randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the benefits of GA and GA management (GAM), which uses GA information to provide tailored intervention strategies to address GA impairments (e.g., implementing physical therapy for impaired physical function). Multiple phase 3 clinical trials in older adults with solid tumors and hematologic malignancies have demonstrated that GAM improves treatment completion, quality of life, communication, and advance care planning while reducing treatment‐related toxicity, falls, and polypharmacy. Nonetheless, implementation and uptake of GAM remain challenging. Various strategies have been proposed, including the use of GA screening tools, to identify patients most likely to benefit from GAM, the systematic engagement of the oncology workforce in the delivery of GAM, and the integration of technologies like telemedicine and mobile health to enhance the availability of GA and GAM interventions. Health inequities in minoritized groups persist, and systematic GA implementation has the potential to capture social determinants of health that are relevant to equitable care. Caregivers play an important role in cancer care and experience burden themselves. The article focuses on the ethical, clinical, and regulatory challenges of using molecular diagnostic tests, such as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), in cancer care. Topics include the evolving role of ctDNA testing in detecting minimal residual disease, the ethical considerations surrounding early adoption of tests with uncertain clinical benefits, and the responsibility of oncologists in guiding patients through emerging technologies.

PURPOSE: Precision therapies and immunotherapies have revolutionized cancer care, with novel genomic biomarker-associated therapies being introduced into clinical practice rapidly, resulting in notable gains in patient survival. Despite this, there is significant variability in the utilization of tumor molecular profiling that spans the timing of test ordering, comprehensiveness of gene panels, and clinical decision support through therapy and trial recommendations. METHODS: To standardize testing, we designed a pathologist-directed test ordering system at the time of diagnosis using a 523-gene DNA/RNA hybrid comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) panel and extensive clinical decision support tools. To comprehensively characterize the clinical impact of this protocol, we developed a novel natural language processing (NLP)–based approach to extract clinical features from physician chart notes. We assessed test actionability rates, therapy choice, and outcomes across a set of 3,216 patients with advanced cancer. RESULTS: We observed 49% of patients had at least one actionable genomic biomarker-driven–approved and/or guideline-recommended targeted or immunotherapy (IO) and 53% of patients would have been eligible for a precision therapy clinical trial from three large basket trials. When assessing CGP versus an in silico 50-gene panel, 67% of tumors compared with 33% harbored actionable alterations including clinical trials. Among patients with 6 months or more of follow-up, over 52% received a targeted therapy (TT) or IO, versus 32% who received conventional chemotherapy alone. Furthermore, patients receiving TT had significantly improved overall survival compared with patients receiving chemotherapy alone (P <.001). CONCLUSION: Overall, these data represent a major shift in standard clinical practice toward molecularly guided treatments (targeted and immunotherapies) over conventional systemic chemotherapy. As guidelines continue to evolve and more precision therapeutics gain approval, we expect this gap to continue to widen. Current utilization patterns for tumor genomic testing are highly variable because of a variety of factors including lack of access and socioeconomic barriers. Here, we developed a program to attempt to remove many of these barriers and provide genomic testing rapidly as possible. Evaluating results over a multiyear period, we found around half of the patients tested with comprehensive genomic profiling had an actionable biomarker. Tested patients also received precision therapies at a higher rate than conventional chemotherapy alone, which was associated with higher overall survival across the real-world cohort. Molecular prognostic and diagnostic tools allow for targeted cancer surveillance, prognostication, and treatment, and these assays have the potential to improve the lives of patients and their relatives. The impact of these advances, however, is not uniform across populations. Underserved communities frequently do not have the same level of access to novel assays, and the clinical application of these tools is often limited by disproportionate representation of White and European ancestry populations in foundational data, as well as limited diversity in clinical trials. In this review, we highlight major advances in clinical molecular assays, key areas of disparity, and contributing factors. We then list ongoing and future areas of intervention to improve access to and efficacy of molecular assays across populations, so that we as a community may work to improve equity at this critical area of cancer care. This paper discusses the administrative aspects of molecular diagnostics in oncology, including US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversight, the regulatory approval process, clinical, and operational workflows, and payment models. Comprehensive molecular testing is important to deliver optimal oncology care and improve patient outcomes. Despite the potential benefits of testing, utilization remains low. The FDA regulatory approval process is reviewed for in vitro diagnostic products, which includes classification into three regulatory classes on the basis of risk. Companion diagnostic devices are used to guide treatment decisions. The clinical and operational challenges associated with molecular testing in oncology are also discussed, including the rapidly evolving landscape of precision oncology, the wide range of biomarker testing options, and complexities of test ordering, interpretation, and result delivery. There is a need for a multifaceted support approach involving education, technology enhancements, and workflow support to overcome these challenges. In terms of payment models, coverage policies between Medicare and commercial payers are compared with differences in coverage criteria, with Medicare focusing on FDA approval or clearance, whereas commercial payers consider additional factors such as National Comprehensive Cancer Network and ASCO guidelines. Commercial payers tend to cover smaller panels on the basis of guideline-recommended biomarkers, whereas coverage for broad tumor profiling is limited. Several strategies can increase the utilization of molecular testing, including integrating test results into electronic medical record platforms, standardizing billing practices, increasing clinical trials, and primary literature supporting the use of molecular testing, educating physicians, and using tumor boards for result interpretation and treatment discussions. Aim: To map the current provision of cancer-related pain services across the UK and understand the support available within them. Method: An online survey was developed by a team of specialists with expertise in cancer-related pain. The survey was circulated via a social media platform to recruit healthcare professionals working for cancer-related pain services. Findings: A total of 63 respondents from across England completed the survey, with no responses received from the other UK nations. The types of services that provided support for people with cancer-related pain included oncology services, pain services and late effects services; 56% (n=35) of services were multiprofessional. There appeared to be some issues with accessing these services, as 37% (n=23) did not accept referrals for those with late effects cancer pain and 21% (n=13) did not accept referrals for those undergoing palliative treatment. All respondents agreed that additional education and support is needed regarding cancer-related pain. Conclusion: The results of this survey indicate that the provision of cancer-related pain services is inconsistent. Prostate gland segmentation is the primary step to estimate gland volume, which aids in the prostate disease management. In this study, we present a 2D-3D convolutional neural network (CNN) ensemble that automatically segments the whole prostate gland along with the peripheral zone (PZ) (PPZ-SegNet) using a T2-weighted sequence (T2W) of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The study used 4 different public data sets organized as Train #1 and Test #1 (independently derived from the same cohort), Test #2, Test #3 and Test #4. The prostate gland and the peripheral zone (PZ) anatomy were manually delineated with consensus read by a radiologist, except for Test #4 cohorts that had pre-marked glandular anatomy. A Bayesian hyperparameter optimization method was applied to construct the network model (PPZ-SegNet) with a training cohort (Train #1, n = 150) using a five-fold cross validation. The model evaluation was performed on an independent cohort of 283 T2W MRI prostate cases (Test #1 to #4) without any additional tuning. The data cohorts were derived from The Cancer Imaging Archives (TCIA): PROSTATEx Challenge, Prostatectomy, Repeatability studies and PROMISE12-Challenge. The segmentation performance was evaluated by computing the Dice similarity coefficient and Hausdorff distance between the estimated-deep-network identified regions and the radiologist-drawn annotations. The deep network architecture was able to segment the prostate gland anatomy with an average Dice score of 0.86 in Test #1 (n = 192), 0.79 in Test #2 (n = 26), 0.81 in Test #3 (n = 15), and 0.62 in Test #4 (n = 50). We also found the Dice coefficient improved with larger prostate volumes in 3 of the 4 test cohorts. The variation of the Dice scores from different cohorts of test images suggests the necessity of more diverse models that are inclusive of dependencies such as the gland sizes and others, which will enable us to develop a universal network for prostate and PZ segmentation. Simple Summary: Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) is a collection of aggressive malignancies with poor long-term survival and limited effective treatment options. Despite unique challenges associated with identifying and targeting malignant T-cell antigens, the use of antibody-based therapies holds great potential. Here, we review the current and future roles of antibody-based therapies for PTCL. While antibody-based immunotherapeutic strategies have revolutionized the treatment of B-cell lymphomas, progress in T-cell lymphomas has suffered from suboptimal targets, disease heterogeneity, and limited effective treatment options. Nonetheless, recent advances in our understanding of T-cell biology, the identification of novel targets, and the emergence of new therapies provide hope for the future. In this review, we explore four areas of current and evolving antibody-based strategies for the treatment of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL): monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), bispecific antibodies (BsAs), chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T), and antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs). Simple Summary: Definitive radiochemotherapy represents a well-established and proven treatment option for locally advanced cervical cancer. The Gyn GEC-ESTRO (GGE) provides a protocol for the method and administration of the associated brachytherapy, in which restrictions for target volumes and organs at risk are established through several studies. This study aims to validate the results of the internal treatment protocol and compare them with the GGE recommendations. A sample of 48 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer treated from 2013 to 2023 was retrospectively analyzed. The GGE target volumes were contoured, evaluated, and then compared with patients' oncologic outcome, as well as bladder and rectal toxicities. The use of MRI during brachytherapy was observed to have a positive effect on survival times in this study. Adherence to the GGE recommendations may also improve local tumor control and time-to-event endpoints, which were comparable to those of other studies. A realistic representation of patient treatment in a radiation oncology center without constant access to MRI for brachytherapy planning was obtained. Background: This study aims to evaluate patients with locally advanced cervical cancer who underwent definitive radiochemotherapy, including brachytherapy, at the University Hospital of Muenster (UKM), focusing on target volume coverage, oncologic outcome parameters, and organs at risk (OAR) toxicities. Results are compared with the Gyn GEC-ESTRO (GGE) recommendations. Methods: Of a cohort of 48 patients, treated between 2013 and 2023, the physical radiation treatment planning with application of CT and MRI and oncologic follow-up data was analyzed. Target volume structures, comprising the high-risk clinical target volume (HR-CTV), intermediate-risk clinical target volume (IR-CTV), Point A, and corresponding EQD2(α/β=10) doses were determined. Endpoints included local tumor control, overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and progression-free survival (PFS). Total OAR (D2cc) EQD2(α/β=3) doses were correlated with adverse events defined by CTCAE v5.0 and LENT-SOMA criteria. Results: Median follow-up was 58.0 months (95% CI [27.6, 88.4]). FIGO stage I was present in 7 (15%) patients, II in 13 (27%), and III in 28 (58%) patients. A total of 38 (79%) patients showed a complete remission 3 months after treatment. The 5-year event-free rate was 67.4% (95% CI [49.3, 80.3]) for OS, 77.0% (95% CI [56.7, 88.6]) for RFS and 68.1% (95% CI [49.7, 80.9]) for PFS. Incomplete radiation treatment and advanced tumor stages led to worse outcomes. Meeting Point A GGE recommendations increased chances for complete remission and could decrease chances of an event occurring for OS, PFS, and RFS. Compliance with GGE recommendations lowered the chances of OAR toxicity occurring. Conclusions: MRI-based target volume definition for brachytherapy in cervical cancer may improve patients' OS, PFS, and RFS. Background: The number of children diagnosed with cancer is expected to increase by 2050. The caring aspect of these children is usually left to members of the family, more so the mothers. Caregivers are usually faced with various challenges, such as financial issues, social stigma, and emotional and psychological issues. Caregivers use various coping strategies to manage the challenges they experience in the caring process, which can be positive or negative coping strategies. Objective: To explore the challenges and coping strategies of caregivers of children with cancer receiving care at a national referral hospital in Kenya. Methods: This study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach to explore the challenges and coping strategies of caregivers of children with cancer receiving treatment at a national referral hospital in Kenya. Purposive and snowball sampling techniques were used to select 44 participants for five focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted between October and December 2023. The data were analysed via inductive thematic analysis. Results: Four themes arose from the challenges experienced, which included psychological, financial, treatment-related, and social/family-related issues. These eleven subthemes included stress, depression, lack of transport, lack of food, loss of employment, treatment delays, and marital issues, among others. Two themes related to coping strategies were positive adaptation and denial, which were highlighted as negative coping strategies. Positive coping included praying, crying, talking to people, and seeking help. Conclusion: Caregivers of children with cancer undergo various challenges and apply various coping strategies to try and adapt to their new normal. Reinforcing positive coping strategies and helping caregivers utilize other coping strategies, such as the use of support groups, could help them better care for their children. Background: Electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (ePROMs) have emerged as valuable tools in cancer care, facilitating the comprehensive assessment of patients' physical, psychological, and social well-being. This study synthesizes literature on the utilization of ePROMs in oncology, highlighting the diverse array of measurement instruments and questionnaires employed in cancer patient assessments. By comprehensively analyzing existing research, this study provides insights into the landscape of ePROMs, informs future research directions, and aims to optimize patient-centred oncology care through the strategic integration of ePROMs into clinical practice. Methods: A systematic review was conducted by searching peer-reviewed articles published in academic journals without time limitations up to 2024. The search was performed across multiple electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, using predefined search terms related to cancer, measurement instruments, and patient assessment. The selected articles underwent a rigorous quality assessment using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Results: The review of 85 studies revealed a diverse range of measurement instruments and questionnaires utilized in cancer patient assessments. Prominent instruments such as the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and the Patient Reported Outcome-Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PROCTCAE) were frequently referenced across multiple studies. Additionally, other instruments identified included generic health-related quality of life measures and disease-specific assessments tailored to particular cancer types. The findings indicated the importance of utilizing a variety of measurement tools to comprehensively assess the multifaceted needs and experiences of cancer patients. Conclusion: Our systematic review provides a comprehensive examination of the varied tools and ePROMs employed in cancer care, accentuating the perpetual requirement for development and validation. Prominent instruments like the EORTC QLQ-C30 and PRO-CTCAE are underscored, emphasizing the necessity for a thorough assessment to meet the multifaceted needs of patients. The most common illnesses that adversely influence human health globally are gastrointestinal malignancies. The prevalence of gastrointestinal cancers (GICs) is relatively high, and the majority of patients receive ineffective care since they are discovered at an advanced stage of the disease. A major component of the human body is thought to be the microbiota of the gastrointestinal tract and the genes that make up the microbiome. The gut microbiota includes more than 3000 diverse species and billions of microbes. Each of them has benefits and drawbacks and been demonstrated to alter anticancer medication efficacy. Treatment of GIC with the help of the gut bacteria is effective while changes in the gut microbiome which is linked to resistance immunotherapy or chemotherapy. Despite significant studies and findings in this field, more research on the interactions between microbiota and response to treatment in GIC are needed to help researchers provide more effective therapeutic strategies with fewer treatment complication. Objective: Most intravenous anticancer drugs are administered in a dose per unit area or body weight, if not promptly administered to another patient cytotoxic leftover would be destroyed. To contain wastage, low-cost measures are highly desirable to contain and reduce expenditures without impairing the quality of care. The objective of the study is to evaluate the cost saved through the use of the two cytotoxic waste management techniques implemented in National Institute of Oncology's centralized chemotherapy preparation unit, vial sharing and dose rounding. Method: A 6-month prospective single centre study from 1 February to 1 August 2023 at the National Institute of Oncology of Rabat in Morocco. The number of prepared preparations and amount of drug saved by both vial sharing and dose rounding was collected using the centralized chemotherapy preparation unit's 'leftover tracking file', the corresponding cost saved were calculated and then compared for each technique and with 2018 results. Results: In total, 18,218 preparations were considered in the 6-month study. With the vial sharing technique 636,524.5 mg were saved corresponding to 246,031.4 (USD) saved cost, against 212,838.4 mg by dose rounding corresponding to 75,598.5 (USD) saved cost. This saving corresponded to a total of 321,629.4 (USD). Compared to the 2018 results leftovers costs saved by vial sharing corresponded to 289,972.05 (USD) by vial sharing technique for 1-year extrapolated period, and this study shows a saved cost of 321,629.9 (USD) by both vial sharing and dose rounding techniques. Conclusion: Dose rounding technique combined with vial sharing allowed National Institute of Oncology's centralized chemotherapy preparation unit to limit expensive cytotoxic cost wastage, highlighting these technique benefits. Introduction: Outpatient oncology practice is a growing area of opportunity for pharmacists to provide clinical services and evidence-based care. Methods: This single-center, retrospective chart review analyzed the clinical and economic benefits of a board-certified oncology pharmacist after integration into the ambulatory oncology clinic setting. Primary outcomes were total cost avoidance for pharmacist interventions and impact on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) OP-35 measures. Pharmacist interventions were characterized into distinct types which were then assigned a cost avoidance value. Cost avoidance was calculated per hour and then extrapolated to a yearly estimate based on a 40-h work week for one year for one full-time equivalent pharmacist. Data collection for the primary clinical outcome was performed by compiling provider-specific emergency department (ED) and inpatient admission rates for diagnoses specified in CMS OP-35 measures within 30 days after receiving outpatient chemotherapy. The rates for the data collection period were compared to the rates six months prior to pharmacist integration to assess pharmacist impact. Results: In six months, 516 total interventions were made by the oncology pharmacist. The incidence of ED visits was 3.34% and 1.72% during the pre- and post-pharmacist intervention periods, respectively. The incidence of inpatient admissions was 2.43% and 0.34% pre- and post-pharmacist intervention, respectively. Total cost avoidance was estimated to be US$375,795 and when accounted for the median pharmacist salary at our institution, total cost savings was US$204,437. Conclusion: The presence of an oncology pharmacist specialist in the ambulatory cancer clinic provided clinical and economic benefits to the cancer clinic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background Continuity of care is essential to older patients' health outcomes, especially for those with complex needs. It is a key function of primary healthcare. Despite China's policy efforts to promote continuity of care and an integrated healthcare system, primary healthcare centres (PHCs) are generally very underused. Objectives To explore the experience and perception of continuity of care in older cancer patients, and to examine how PHCs play a role in the continuity of care within the healthcare system in China. Methods A qualitative study using semi-structured interviews was conducted in two tertiary hospitals in Nantong city, Jiangsu province, China. A combination of deductive and inductive analysis was conducted thematically. Results Interviews with 29 patients highlighted three key themes: no guidance for patients in connecting with different levels of doctors, unmet patients' needs under specialist-led follow-up care, and poor coordination and communication across healthcare levels. This study clearly illustrated patients' lack of personal awareness and experience of care continuity, a key issue despite China's drive for an integrated healthcare system. Conclusion The need for continuity of care at each stage of cancer care is largely unmeasured in the current healthcare system for older patients. PHCs offer benefits which include convenience, less burdened doctors with more time, and lower out-of-pocket payment compared to tertiary hospitals, especially for patients with long-term healthcare needs. Medical guidelines recommend actively addressing patients' information needs regarding complementary and integrative healthcare (CIH). Within the CCC-Integrativ study, an interprofessional counseling program on CIH was developed and implemented at four comprehensive cancer centers (CCCs) in Germany. As part of the process evaluation, this study examines cancer patients' experiences with interprofessional CIH counseling sessions conducted by a physician and a nurse. Forty problem-centered interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide. All interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using deductive–inductive content analysis based on Kuckartz and Rädiker's approach. Findings revealed that most participants had prior experience with CIH approaches and were burdened by physiological and psychological symptoms. Counseling sessions focused on cancer- and treatment-related symptoms and appropriate CIH recommendations (e.g., herbal poultice against anxieties and acupressure against nausea). Participants appreciated the mutual exchange and integration of perspectives from different healthcare professions within the interprofessional approach. They noted that the counseling team comprehensively addressed their healthcare and CIH information needs. Suggestions for improvement included the specificity of the CIH recommendations. As the participants only received counseling and no CIH treatments, information about reputable CIH providers was particularly important to many seeking advice. Patients with cancer receiving tailored CIH counseling from two healthcare professionals experienced benefits in CIH counseling for symptom management. The interprofessional teams offered a comprehensive perspective on patients' needs, proposing personalized recommendations for symptom control. Introduction: Health services rely upon carers to provide care for loved ones with cancer, yet many carers often feel ill‐prepared for this role. Despite a multitude of programmes to support carer mental health, programmes that help carers feel better equipped to support a person with cancer are lacking. This study aimed to address this need by adapting an evidence‐based intervention to be suitable for carers of people with cancer. Methods: This study used an exploratory, qualitative design consisting of experienced‐based co‐design and an in‐depth stakeholder engagement strategy. An existing evidence‐based programme to promote resilience in the context of providing care was adapted for relevance to carers for people with cancer via two co‐design workshops with carers and healthcare professionals (n = 8). The resulting prototype programme was refined based on stakeholder consultations with staff and consumer members of cancer and carer support organisations across Australia (n = 16). Transcripts of the workshops, meetings and written feedback from carers were thematically analysed. Results: Major programme developments were guided by three themes that emerged from the co‐design workshops: 'creating value for carers', 'multiple contributors to carer distress' and 'the need for flexible implementation'. Analysis of the stakeholder consultation data showed that the themes of 'diversity in carer journeys' and 'creating impact for carers' were key to further tailoring the programme for applicability to practice. An adapted programme called 'iCanSupport' resulted from the process, with key adaptations being more relevant case study scenarios for carers and greater flexibility in accessing and engaging with the intervention to accommodate a range of carer circumstances. Conclusion: Programmes to build skills for becoming a carer for someone with cancer are absent, yet they are desired by carers. Using co‐design provided a user‐centric approach to adapt an existing evidence‐based programme. Programme evaluation is required to determine the effectiveness of the co‐designed approach in improving carer preparedness among a range of cohorts. Introduction: Divided narratives pose long‐standing difficulties in physician and patient communication. In decision‐making on cancer treatment, divided narratives between physicians and patients hinder mutual understanding and agreement over the illness and its treatment. For effective decision‐making on treatments, it is necessary to investigate the similarities and differences in these divided narratives. Methods: This study adopted a qualitative research design of narrative inquiry to examine the data, which included interviews with 32 cancer patients and 16 paired physicians in two hospitals in China. Data analysis was conducted using grounded theory to generate findings. Results: Both physicians and patients were concerned about goals and obstacles to their decision‐making on cancer treatment. Four common aspects of goal setting were identified from the divided narratives: decision pools, treatment goals, identity practice and preferred identity. Four common obstacles were identified: pains and trust, communication gap, financial issues and complex family. However, the meanings attached to these eight aspects differed between physicians and patients. Conclusion: Cancer treatment decision‐making is an encounter of the scientific world and lifeworld. A divided narrative approach can identify the similarities and differences in the decision‐making on cancer treatment between physicians and patients. Physicians generally adopt a rational decision‐making approach, whereas patients generally adopt a relational decision‐making approach. Despite the common concerns in their goals and obstacles, physicians and patients differed in their contextualized interpretations, which demonstrates the physicians' and the patients' pursuit of preferred identities in decision‐making. The results of this study provide a new perspective to treatment decision‐making, emphasizing the importance of narrative integration in reaching mutual agreement. Simple Summary: Sarcomas are rare and diverse tumors that develop in various tissues like bone, muscle, and fat. This study examines the outcomes of two types of surgical removal of these tumors: planned resections (PEs), where the tumor is diagnosed a-priori and surgically removed with a plan, and unplanned resections (UEs), where the tumor is removed without prior diagnosis. We found that planned surgeries, while better at completely removing the tumor initially, are associated with more advanced tumors that have a higher chance of spreading and leading to cancer-related deaths. On the other hand, unplanned surgeries tend to have higher chances of the tumor coming back locally but do not significantly affect long-term survival. These findings highlight the importance of early detection and timely treatment at specialized centers to improve patient outcomes. Our research aims to help develop better tools for predicting and managing sarcomas to enhance patient care. Background: Sarcomas, a diverse group of malignant tumors arising from mesenchymal tissues, pose significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This study compares the outcomes of planned resections (PEs) and unplanned resections (UEs) to inform better clinical practices. Methods: Data were analyzed from the Swiss Sarcoma Network (SSN), including patients with soft tissue and bone sarcomas treated at two major hospitals. This study utilized logistic regression and Cox regression models to examine the odds of UEs and their impact on local recurrence-free survival. Results: Among 429 patients registered by SSN members, 323 (75%) underwent PEs and 106 (25%) experienced UEs. PEs were associated with significantly larger tumors (94 mm vs. 47 mm, p < 0.001) and higher-grade tumors (Grade 3: 50.5% vs. 37.4%, p = 0.03). Despite achieving superior resection margins (R0: 78.8% vs. 12.6%, p < 0.001), PEs showed higher metastasis rates at follow-up (31.0% vs. 10.4%, p < 0.001) and greater cancer-specific mortality (16.7% vs. 6.6%, p = 0.01). UEs, while linked to higher local recurrence, did not significantly affect metastasis-free survival (MFS) or overall survival (OS). Conclusions: PEs achieve superior immediate surgical outcomes but are linked to higher metastasis and cancer-specific mortality due to the advanced stage of tumors. UEs, while associated with higher local recurrence rates, do not significantly impact MFS or OS. Early detection, comprehensive diagnostics, and timely referrals to specialized sarcoma hubs are essential to avoid UEs and reduce metastatic risk. Simple Summary: Axillary management in breast cancer has undergone significant changes over the past decades, especially with the introduction of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). NACT aims to shrink tumors before surgery, allowing for less invasive axillary approaches such as sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) and targeted axillary dissection (TAD). These techniques help reduce the need for axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), which is associated with higher risks of complications like lymphedema. However, patient selection for these procedures depends on factors such as tumor biology, response to NACT, and the extent of nodal disease. This review discusses the latest evidence supporting de-escalation strategies in axillary surgery and highlights ongoing research that aims to further refine the selection criteria for these approaches. Multidisciplinary collaboration remains key to implementing personalized treatments that optimize patient outcomes while minimizing surgical morbidity. Background. In breast cancer (BC) patients, axillary management has undergone major improvements over the last few years, and efforts to identify the optimal strategy for the management of axillary surgery are still ongoing. Methods. In current clinical practice, women with clinically node-positive (cN+) BC usually receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) with the aim of reducing the extent of primary disease and, thus, allowing for axillary-conservative surgery. Remarkably, after NACT, up to one out of three patients achieves an axillary pathologic complete response, which, in turn, is associated with a more favorable prognosis than residual axillary disease. However, NACT is not without drawbacks, as NACT-associated inflammation can damage lymphatic vessels. Furthermore, varying degrees of response may occur in the axillary lymph nodes, increasing the false negative rate for sentinel biopsy. Results. At present, there is no consensus on the optimal approach in patients with cN+ BC undergoing NACT, although multidisciplinary management seems to be recommended. Conclusions. This narrative review provides a comprehensive overview of axillary management in cN+ BC patients undergoing NACT. Health care providers (HCPs) play a key role in psychosocial care of adolescents with cancer (AWC) and present a unique perspective. This prospective study included a brief survey followed by an interview, seeking to understand HCPs' viewpoints on peer support needs of AWC. Participants were 10 multidisciplinary HCPs with 5–30 years of experience. Three key themes found were: observations made and relationships with AWC; challenges to providing support; and potential peer support interventions. Introduction: Gastric cancer (GC) remains a significant global public health problem, despite the decreasing trends in GC mortality rates in the last 5 decades. Our study aimed to examine the pattern of GC mortality in Montenegro between 1990 and 2018 and to contribute to the future by designing a national long-term strategy for the control and prevention of GC. Methods: Gastric cancer mortality data in Montenegro from 1990 to 2018 were collected. Mortality rates were age-standardized to the World Standard Population for estimating both the overall and gender-specific trends. The joinpoint regression model was used to assess GC mortality and identified significant changes in the linear time trend. Linear and Poisson regressions were also applied for additional trend analyses. Results: Joinpoint regression reveals a statistically significant decrease in the age-standardized rate for the overall level, on average by 1.4% per year (AAPC [95% IP] = −1.4 [−2.4 to −0.4]; p = 0.007), which was due to a decrease in the age-standardized rate in men with an average annual change of −1.8% (AAPC [95% IP] = −1.8 [−2.9 to −0.6]; p = 0.003), while in women the rates were stable (p = 0.565). The results for age groups indicate that a decline was registered at the overall level, and among men, as a consequence of the trend of decreasing age-specific rates for the age group 55–64 on average annually by 2% among men (AAPC [95% IP] = −2 [−3.8 to −0.1]; p = 0.035), and for the overall level (AAPC [95% IP] = −2 [−3.7 to −0.3]; p = 0.026). Conclusion: Our findings indicate a noteworthy decline in age-standardized overall GC mortality rates among men in Montenegro, while rates for women have remained constant. As chaplaincy is increasingly practiced in outpatient settings, further understanding is needed of what it entails and is accomplishing within this unique context. This scoping review summarizes 42 articles that describe the types of spiritual care interventions and programs offered by chaplains in outpatient settings, and their outcomes. Findings support that chaplaincy is practiced in outpatient settings, especially in palliative care, oncology, and primary care. Interventions are delivered by chaplains as the sole interventionist, and by interdisciplinary teams with chaplain participants. Results show that outpatient chaplain interventions are feasible and acceptable, with positive psychological and spiritual outcomes. More studies with consistent outcome measurements, and structured chaplain interventions are needed to draw further conclusions about the effectiveness of outpatient chaplain interventions. There is interest in chaplains devoted to outpatient cancer care, informed by a growing body of research as well as recommendations of accreditors. Simultaneously, a growing share of U.S. healthcare is faith-based and possesses a foundational interest in religious/spiritual (R/S) care due to institutional culture. In that milieu, few articles describe how religious organizational cultures influence the creation and implementation of FTEs intended to meet the evidence-based recommendations of accreditors. This is a lacuna, given that board certified chaplains are measured on their ability to integrate spiritual care into the life and service of their institutions. In response, this article describes the creation and implementation of two chaplain positions devoted to a group of outpatient cancer clinics in a large Catholic healthcare system. In 2020 the UK Global Cancer Network (UKGCN) was formed to unite those in the UK interested in Global Oncology and to strengthen collaborative partnerships with stakeholders working across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in cancer health systems, governance, and care. The UKGCN undertook a mapping exercise to document collaborations to inform the UK's global oncology strategy. A semi-structured survey was developed and disseminated using a snowball method over ten weeks from February 2021 across the UK's cancer community, to identify individuals and institutions engaged in clinical practice, research, and/or education with partners in LMICs. The survey was sent to individuals in NHS hospitals, charities, universities, other organisations, UKGCN members, and to contacts identified by a literature and web search. A total of 639 invitations were sent, and 88 responses were received. Results demonstrate a range of collaborative efforts spanning many areas of cancer control: health promotion, prevention, diagnosis and treatment, survivorship, and palliative care. A wide range of countries were represented from Sub-Saharan Africa, South America, the MENA region, China, and South-East Asia. The projects included education and training (146), clinical practice/care (144), and research (226). This mapping exercise demonstrated considerable UK collaboration with stakeholders in LMICs across all three domains of education, clinical care, and research. The survey results provide an initial framework from which to promote in-depth strategic intelligence on the broad range of activities undertaken by the UK global oncology community. This information has been used as a catalyst to create new partnerships and connect colleagues working in similar geographical settings, encouraging bidirectional learning. Stress affects people's physiologic and mental well-being. Compounded stress from natural disasters, intergenerational trauma, stigma, and mistrust of the dominant society may lead to illness and potential oncologic disorders. The concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion have become mainstays of nurses' interactions with patients. Nurses may need to support self-care for those experiencing intergenerational trauma and natural disasters, such as Native Hawai'ian and Other Pacific Islander (NHOPI) individuals. Verification of pregnancy status prior to initiating radiation treatment for cancer is important to preserve patient and fetal safety. However, many institutions lack clear guidelines for pregnancy screening prior to treatment initiation. A practice gap analysis conducted at an academic medical center revealed inconsistent pregnancy screening within the radiation oncology department, with 7% (N = 729) of eligible patients screened prior to initiating treatment. A nurse-driven policy was implemented based on recommendations from the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. Purpose: Patient navigation is a recommended practice to improve cancer screenings among underserved populations including those residing in rural areas with care access barriers. We report on patient navigation programme adaptations to increase follow‐up colonoscopy rates after abnormal fecal testing in rural primary care practices. Methods: Participating clinics delivered a patient navigation programme to eligible patients from 28 affiliated clinics serving rural communities in Oregon clustered within 3 Medicaid health plans. Patient navigation adaptations were tracked using data sources including patient navigation training programme reflections, qualitative interviews, clinic meetings, and periodic reflections with practice facilitators. Findings: Initial, planned (proactive) adaptations were made to address the rural context; later, unplanned (reactive) adaptations were implemented to address the impact of the COVID‐19 global pandemic. Initial planned adaptations to the patient navigation programme were made before the main trial to address the needs of the rural context, including provider shortages and geographic dispersion limiting both patient access to care and training opportunities for providers. Later unplanned adaptations were made primarily in response to COVID‐19 care suspension and staff redeployments and shortages that occurred during implementation. Conclusion: While unplanned adaptations were implemented to address the contextual impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on care access patterns and staffing, the changes to training content and context were beneficial to the rural setting overall and should be sustained. Our findings can guide future efforts to optimise the success of such programmes in other rural settings and highlight the important role of adaptations in implementation projects. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of technology-based cancer survivorship care interventions according to the types of intervention and participant characteristics for adult cancer survivors; and the extent to which the types of intervention and participant characteristics moderate the observed effects. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing technology-based survivorship care interventions with control groups for posttreatment adult cancer survivors. Results: A total of 50 RCTs with 422 effect sizes suggested an overall significant treatment effect of technology-based survivorship care interventions. Survivorship care domains, comparison groups, and targeted outcomes were significant moderators influencing treatment effects. Conclusions: Our findings reinforce the value and applicability of technology-based survivorship care interventions that promote skill-building specifically. Interventions addressing multidimensional domains for survivorship care should be developed with advances in technology, which in turn influence enhancing cancer survivors' capacities to address psychosocial challenges. Background Real-world research on cancer care in the community should address social determinants of health (SDOH) to advance health equity in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. We sought patient and stakeholder perspectives to co-develop research principles to guide researchers when using patient record data to address health equity in their research protocols. Materials and methods Key informant interviews with 13 individuals elicited perspectives and insights related to health equity and SDOH when conducting research using data from community-based oncology care. Interviews included a brief overview of a prior scoping review and related questions in the interview guide. Key informants included experts in health equity and SDOH, and patient and community advisory board members. Rapid qualitative analysis was used to identify key themes, patterns, and insights from the interview data. Principles were developed based on the results of the analysis. Results Three overarching categories for promoting health equity were (1) education; (2) community engagement; and (3) research design and implementation. Education principles highlight the necessity of training in relevant skills to address health equity. Community engagement principles highlight various actions that researchers can take to conduct research inclusive of community concerns regarding health equity. The research design and implementation category provides practical guidelines for researchers in planning, conducting, and disseminating community-based oncology research to address health equity. Conclusion Our principles guide oncology real-world research protocols to address SDOH in community settings and promote health equity.
