- Abstract
The Classic Guide to the Java Programming Language--Fully Updated through Java 21 Whatever version of Java you are using, Core Java, Volume I: Fundamentals, Thirteenth Edition, will help you achieve a deep and practical understanding of the language and APIs. With hundreds of realistic examples, Java Champion Cay S. Horstmann demonstrates the most powerful and effective ways to get the job done. Written for experienced programmers looking for in-depth coverage of the Java language and platform, this revised and updated edition continues to be the first choice for serious programmers. The carefully crafted sample programs demonstrate almost every language and library feature, as well as the newest capabilities introduced in Java 21. The examples are purposefully simple to focus on the major points, but, for the most part, they aren't fake and they don't cut corners. They should make good starting points for your own code. This first of two volumes offers a detailed treatment of fundamental Java programming topics, including object-oriented programming, reflection and proxies, interfaces and inner classes, exception handling, generics, collections, lambda expressions, concurrency, annotations, and the Java Platform Module System. Master foundational techniques, idioms, and best practices for writing superior Java code Leverage the power of interfaces, lambda expressions, and inner classes Take advantage of sealed class hierarchies and pattern matching for processing structured data Harden programs through effective exception handling and debugging Write safer, more reusable code with generic programming Improve performance and efficiency with Java's standard collections Explore simple programs with JShell and assemble complex programs with archives and modules Fully utilize multicore processors with Java's powerful concurrency model See Core Java, Volume II: Advanced Features, Thirteenth Edition, for coverage of Java 21 enterprise features, including detailed discussions of networking, security, internationalization, and advanced UI programming. - Abstract
Introduction: There is a lack of studies in the literature directly investigating the relationship between atrial tachycardia (AT) and left atrial (LA)/left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombus, and current guidelines do not provide strong recommendations regarding the use of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) before AT catheter ablation. This study aims to elucidate the relationship between AT and the presence of LA/LAA thrombus and contribute to the literature on the use of TEE before AT catheter ablation., Methods: This single-center retrospective observational study screened patients who underwent TEE between February 10, 2019, and February 10, 2023. Patients were assigned to the AT patient and control groups. TEE was conducted to exclude thrombus in the AT ablation group. The control group included patients who underwent TEE for interatrial septum evaluation and had LA imaging during TEE but did not have atrial arrhythmia. To mitigate bias between the AT patient group and the control group, they were randomized 1:1 using propensity-score matching (PSM). Following randomization, each group consisted of 49 patients., Results: All analyses were conducted after PSM. There were no statistically significant differences between the AT patient and control groups in terms of baseline clinical characteristics and echocardiographic features. Additionally, no significant differences were found between the blood viscosities calculated at low and high shear rates in both groups. The study revealed a significant difference between the two groups in the presence of LA spontaneous echo contrast (SEC) (24.5% in AT group vs 0% in Control group, p = .001), but not in the presence of thrombi (8.2% in AT group vs 0% in Control group, p = .117)., Conclusion: Compared to the control group, the presence of SEC was significantly higher in the AT patient group. The increased frequency of SEC in AT patients suggests the hypothesis that AT may contribute to LA stasis. The routine use of TEE before AT catheter ablation remains controversial, despite the presence of LA thrombus and SEC in the AT patient group. The clinical assessment of thrombus presence before the procedure must be conducted on a patient-specific basis., (© 2024 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

- Abstract
Transvenous coronary ethanol ablation may be successfully applied to simultaneously treat ventricular arrhythmia superimposed within a segment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This presentation nicely describes this emerging technique for ventricular tachycardia ablation and identifies potential additional benefits of venous ethanol administration in patients with left ventricular obstructive physiology., Competing Interests: The authors report no conflicts of interest for the published content. - Abstract
A novel naphthalimide-substituted calix[4]triazacrown-5 (Nap-Calix) at cone conformation was designed and synthesized to employ as a fluorescent probe, which enables the simultaneously detection of Co
2+ and Cd2+ metal ions as well as dopamine (DA).1 H-NMR,13 C-NMR, ESI-MS and elemental analysis techniques were carried out to characterize its structure. Cation binding property of Nap-Calix against various metal ions such as Ba2+ , Co2+ , Ni2+ , Pb2+ , Zn2+ , and Cd2+ exhibited that the sensor selectively binds to Co2+ and Cd2+ metal ions with a remarkable affinity. Introduction of Co2+ and Cd2+ metal ions to a solution of Nap-Calix in DMF/water (1:1, v/v) resulted with a new emission band at 370 nm when excited at 283 nm. In addition, the fluorescence sensing affinity of the probe Nap-Calix against a catecholamine neurotransmitter (dopamine) was investigated in a wide range of concentration of DA (0-0.1 mmol L-1 ) in 50% DMF/PBS (pH = 5.0). The fluorescence intensity of Nap-Calix, with excitation/emission peaks at 283/327 nm, is highly enhanced by DA. It was also observed that Nap-Calix exhibits excellent fluorescence behavior towards DA with a very low detection limit as 0.21 µmol L-1 ., (© 2023.
