AbstractTwo novel cadmium compounds (me2-4,4'-H2bipy)9[(CdCl3)-HCl-(CdCl3)](CdCl3)4(CdCl4)6 (1) and (me2-4,4'-H2bipy)9[(CdCl3)-HCl-(CdCl3)]3[CdCl4(H2O)]6 (2) (me = methyl; 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine) have been synthesized through solvothermal reactions and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The me2-4,4'-H2bipy moiety was obtained via in situ reactions. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed that both compounds are crystallized in the P3(–)1c space group of the hexagonal system and both are characterized by a 0-D isolated structure. Powder photoluminescent characterization reveals that compounds 1 and 2 show an emission in the blue or red region of the spectrum. Compounds 1 and 2 possess wide energy band gaps of 3.49 and 5.01 eV as found by the solid-state UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectrum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are an extraordinarily versatile class of porous materials renowned for their intricate three-dimensional skeletal architectures and exceptional chemical properties. These extraordinary attributes have pushed MOFs into the vanguard of diverse disciplines such as microporous conduction, catalysis, separation, biomedical engineering, and electrochemical sensing. The focus of this review is to offer a comprehensive summary of recent advancements in designing MOF-based electrochemical sensors for detecting organic small molecules. offer a comprehensive survey of the recent progress in the methodologies adopted for the construction of MOF composites, covering template-assisted synthesis, Modification in synthesis, and post-synthesis modification. In addition, we discuss the practical application of MOF-based electrochemical sensors in the detection of organic small molecules. Our findings highlight the superior electrochemical sensing capabilities of these novel composites compared to those of their pristine counterparts. In conclusion, we provide a condensed perspective on the potential future trajectories in this domain, underscoring the impetus for continued enquiry and enhancement of MOF composite assemblies. Two novel lanthanide mercury materials, [Gd(IA)3(H3O)2Hg3Br6]n·2nCl (1) and [La(IA)3(H3O)2Hg3Br6]n·2nCl (2) (IA = isonicotinic anion), have been prepared under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. They are isomorphic and characterized by a three-dimensional (3-D) framework structure. The lanthanide ions are bound by eight oxygen atoms to exhibit a square antiprismatic geometry. The solid-state photoluminescence experiment discovers that compound 1 shows a strong emission in the red region. Compound 1 possesses CIE (Commission Internationale de I'Éclairage) chromaticity coordinates of 0.7347 and 0.2653. Its CCT (correlated color temperature) is 6514 K. Compound 2 displays yellow photoluminescence and it has CIE chromaticity coordinates of 0.4411 and 0.5151. The CCT of compound 2 is 3633 K. Solid-state UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectra revealed that their semiconductor band gaps are 2.16 eV and 2.85 eV, respectively.
