The optical surface of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines is highly vulnerable to contamination by hydrocarbons, resulting in the formation of carbon deposits that significantly degrade the quality and efficiency of lithography. The dynamic gas lock (DGL) has been proven as an effective approach to alleviate carbon deposition. However, the majority of existing studies on carbon deposition neglect the influence of the DGL. This paper is dedicated to investigating the phenomena of hydrocarbon adsorption, desorption, and cleavage with considering the effects of the DGL. A comprehensive mathematical model of the carbon deposition process is established, and the impact of radiation intensity, temperature, and hydrocarbon types on the depositing rate is considered. The results suggest that the primary cause of carbon deposition is the direct cracking of hydrocarbons induced by photons with a wavelength range between 12.5 and 14.5 nm. Additionally, it has been observed that the carbon deposition rate decreases exponentially as clean gas flow increases when EUV radiation intensity exceeds 50 mW/mm2. Conversely, at low EUV radiation intensity, clean gas flow has little effect on the carbon deposition rate. An effective approach to mitigate carbon deposition is to elevate the temperature of the optical surface and employ light hydrocarbon materials in the EUV process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Vortex generators can enhance the operational safety of high-speed trains and offer effective anti-rolling performance. This paper investigates the influence of vortex generator installation angles on the aerodynamic characteristics of trains. The Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation method is used to analyze the leeward side vortex structure. It is found that when the angle between the vortex generators and the relative wind is 30 ° , the rolling moment of the train is minimized, as it significantly reduces side forces while preventing excessive growth of lift force inducing rolling moment. The reduction in rolling moment of the train by vortex generators is attributed to the suppression of leeward side trailing vortices of the train, which delays flow separation at the roof of the train, inducing a downward trend in the separated flow. Dynamic Mode Decomposition reveals that vortex generators do not alter the stability of near-body trailing vortices but enhance the pulsatile characteristics of far-body trailing vortices, which do not affect the pressure distribution on the leeward side of the train. Physics-informed neural network (PINN) has aroused broad interest among fluid simulation researchers in recent years, representing a novel paradigm in this area where governing differential equations are encoded to provide a hybrid physics-based and data-driven deep learning framework. However, the lack of enough validations on more complex flow problems has restricted further development and application of PINN. Our research applies the PINN to simulate a two-dimensional indoor turbulent airflow case to address the issue. Although it is still quite challenging for the PINN to reach an ideal accuracy for the problem through a single purely physics-driven training, our research finds that the PINN prediction accuracy can be significantly improved by exploiting its ability to assimilate high-fidelity data during training, by which the prediction accuracy of PINN is enhanced by 53.2% for pressure, 34.6% for horizontal velocity, and 40.4% for vertical velocity, respectively. Meanwhile, the influence of data points number is also studied, which suggests a balance between prediction accuracy and data acquisition cost can be reached. Last but not least, applying Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations and turbulence model has also been proved to improve prediction accuracy remarkably. After embedding the standard k–ε model to the PINN, the prediction accuracy was enhanced by 82.9% for pressure, 59.4% for horizontal velocity, and 70.5% for vertical velocity, respectively. Lane width is crucial for traffic safety management. Previous studies have shown that inappropriate width will lead to an increase in accident probability and unsafe driving behaviors. However, there have been limited studies on determination method of special lane width for different models, especially for passenger cars. To tackle this problem, the lateral driving behavior characteristics of the expressway need to be clarified. This work aims to obtain the appropriate lane width according to the vehicles' width and lateral position characteristics. In this study, the lane lateral residual width (the distance between the vehicle body's contour and the lane marking on the same side) and the lateral safety margin are extracted as characterization indices of vehicle lateral characteristics from natural driving trajectory data of expressways. The effect of vehicle type, driving speed, and lane position on the expressway's trajectory behavior is investigated. The results show that the utilization rate of lane width is higher in the outer lane compared to the inner lane. As driving speed increases, vehicles in the inner and middle lanes exhibit shy away effect, moving away from obstacles. Substantial variations exist in the lateral width of lanes among different vehicle types. When driving in the same lane, passenger cars' lane lateral residual width that is 0.4–0.5 m wider than that of heavy vehicles. The recommended lane width for the safe operation of trucks on expressways is 3.75 m. After a comprehensive analysis of vehicle width, trajectory oscillation, and lateral safety margin, this study proposes a minimum lane width of 3.25 m and a recommended general width of 3.5 m for a passenger car‐only expressway. Objective: Acute unilateral vestibulopathy (AUVP) is the second leading cause of peripheral vestibular vertigo. Full recovery of AUVP is related to sufficient central vestibular compensation. It has been confirmed that the vestibular nucleus and vestibular cortex are involved in the process of vestibular compensatory in AUVP patients. However, few studies have focused on the functional compensation of thalamus in patients with AUVP. This study aimed to explore the alterations of resting-state functional connectivity (FC) focused on thalamus using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in AUVP patients., Methods: Data of 3D-T1 and resting-state fMRI were collected from 40 AUVP patients and 35 healthy controls (HC). Seeds-based (bilateral thalamus) FC was analyzed to investigate the changes in FC between the two groups. Furthermore, we evaluated the associations between altered thalamus FC and clinical features in AUVP patients using Pearson's partial correlation., Results: Compared with HC, AUVP patients showed decreased FC between bilateral thalamus and left insula. We also observed decreased FC between right thalamus and left supramarginal gyrus. Additionally, we found increased FC between left thalamus and right postcentral gyrus (PCG), as well as increased FC between right thalamus and regions of bilateral PCG, right middle frontal gyrus and right middle occipital gyrus in AUVP patients. Furthermore, the FC between left thalamus and left insula was negatively correlated with values of canal paresis in patients with AUVP ( p = 0.010, r = -0.434)., Conclusion: Our results provided first evidence for the decreased thalamo-vestibular cortex pathway, as well as increased thalamo-somatosensory and thalamo-visual cortex pathway in AUVP patients. Background: Cough is one of the main complications after pulmonary surgery, which seriously affects the postoperative quality of life. Preserving the pulmonary branch of vagus nerve may reduce the incidence of postoperative cough. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate whether preserving the pulmonary branch of the vagus nerve could reduce the incidence of postoperative chronic cough in patients with stage I peripheral lung adenocarcinoma., Methods: A total of 125 patients who underwent single-port thoracoscopic radical resection for lung cancer in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from June 2022 to June 2023 were retrospectively selected, and divided into two groups according to whether the vagopulmonary branch was preserved during the operation, namely, the vagopulmonary branch group (n=61) and the traditional group (n=64). The general clinical data, perioperative conditions, lymph node dissection, Mandarin Chinese version of The Leicester Cough Questionnaire (LCQ-MC) scores before and 8 weeks after operation were recorded in the two groups. Both the two groups were divided into tamponade group and non-tamponade group according to whether autologous fat or gelatin sponge was tamponade after lymph node dissection. LCQ-MC scores and postoperative chronic cough of both groups were calculated., Results: The LCQ-MC score of the traditional group was significantly lower than that of the vagopulmonary branch group in physiological, psychological, social and total scores at 8 weeks after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were more cough patients in the traditional group than the vagopulmonary branch group at 8 weeks after surgery, with significant difference (P=0.006). Subgroup analysis was conducted separately for the vagopulmonary branch group and the traditional group. Among the patients in the vagopulmonary branch group and the traditional group, the LCQ-MC scores of the non-tamponade group 8 weeks after surgery were lower than those of the tamponade group (P<0.05). There were more patients with cough in the group 8 weeks after surgery than in the tamponade group (P=0.001, P=0.024)., Conclusions: For patients with stage I peripheral lung adenocarcinoma, the preservation of the pulmonary branch of vagus nerve is safe and effective, which can reduce the incidence of postoperative chronic cough and improve the postoperative quality of life of the patients.

Background: Chronic cough after pulmonary resection is one of the most common complications, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients after surgery. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the risk factors of chronic cough after pulmonary resection and construct a prediction model., Methods: The clinical data and postoperative cough of 499 patients who underwent pneumonectomy or pulmonary resection in The First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China from January 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were randomly divided into training set (n=348) and validation set (n=151) according to the principle of 7:3 randomization. According to whether the patients in the training set had chronic cough after surgery, they were divided into cough group and non-cough group. The Mandarin Chinese version of Leicester cough questionnare (LCQ-MC) was used to assess the severity of cough and its impact on patients' quality of life before and after surgery. The visual analog scale (VAS) and the self-designed numerical rating scale (NRS) were used to evaluate the postoperative chronic cough. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the independent risk factors and construct a model. Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the discrimination of the model, and calibration curve was used to evaluate the consistency of the model. The clinical application value of the model was evaluated by decision curve analysis (DCA)., Results: Multivariate Logistic analysis screened out that preoperative forced expiratory volume in the first second/forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC), surgical procedure, upper mediastinal lymph node dissection, subcarinal lymph node dissection, and postoperative closed thoracic drainage time were independent risk factors for postoperative chronic cough. Based on the results of multivariate analysis, a Nomogram prediction model was constructed. The area under the ROC curve was 0.954 (95%CI: 0.930-0.978), and the cut-off value corresponding to the maximum Youden index was 0.171, with a sensitivity of 94.7% and a specificity of 86.6%. With a Bootstrap sample of 1000 times, the predicted risk of chronic cough after pulmonary resection by the calibration curve was highly consistent with the actual risk. DCA showed that when the preprobability of the prediction model probability was between 0.1 and 0.9, patients showed a positive net benefit., Conclusions: Chronic cough after pulmonary resection seriously affects the quality of life of patients. The visual presentation form of the Nomogram is helpful to accurately predict chronic cough after pulmonary resection and provide support for clinical decision-making.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a common gastrointestinal tumor with high morbidity and mortality. Fatty acid metabolism (FAM) contributes to GC development. Patents have been issued for the use of compositions comprising fatty acid analogues for the treatment of many clinical conditions. However, its clinical significance and its relationship with tumor-related mutations have not been thoroughly discovered. This study was conducted to analyze and explore FAM-related genes' molecular characteristics, prognostic significance, and association with tumor- related mutations., Methods: The gastric adenocarcinoma's transcriptome, clinical data, and tumor mutation load (TMB) data were downloaded from TCGA and GEO databases. The differentially expressed FAM genes (FAM DEGs) between cancer and control samples were screened, and their correlation with TMB and survival was analyzed. A PPI network of FAM DEGs was constructed, and a downscaling clustering analysis was performed based on the expression of the FAM DEGs. Further immuno- infiltration and GO/KEGG enrichment analyses of the identified FAM clusters were performed to explore their heterogeneity in biological functions. The effects of FAM score and gastric cancer (STAD) on TMB, MSI, survival prognosis, and drug sensitivity were jointly analyzed, and finally, a single-gene analysis of the obtained core targets was performed., Results: Through differential analysis, 68 FAM DEGs were obtained, and they were highly associated with STAD tumor mutation load. In addition, a high FAM DEGs CNV rate was observed. The PPI network showed a complex mutual correlation between the FAM DEGs. Consensus clustering classified the patients into three clusters based on the FAM DEGs, and the clusters presented different survival rates. The GSVA and immune infiltration analysis revealed that metabolism, apoptosis, and immune infiltration-related pathways were variated. In addition, FAM genes, STAD prognostic risk genes, and PCA scores were closely associated with the survival status of STAD patients. FAM score was closely correlated with STAD TMB, MSI, and immunotherapy, and the TMB values in the low FAM score group were significantly higher than those in the high FAM score group. Finally, combining the above results, it was found that the core gene PTGS1 performed best in predicting STAD survival prognosis and TMB/MSI/immunotherapy., Conclusion: Fatty acid metabolism genes affect the development of gastric adenocarcinoma and can predict the survival prognosis, tumor mutational load characteristics, and drug therapy sensitivity of STAD patients, which can help explore more effective immunotherapy targets for GC., (Copyright© Bentham Science Publishers; For any queries, please email at epub@benthamscience.net.)

Human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a rich source for central nervous system (CNS)-related disease biomarker discovery due to its direct interchange with the extracellular fluid of the CNS. Though extensive proteome-level profiling has been conducted for CSF, studies targeting at its endogenous peptidome is still limited. It is more difficult to include the post-translational modifications (PTMs) characterization of the peptidome in the mass spectrometry (MS) analysis because of their low abundance and the challenge of data interpretation. In this chapter, we present a peptidomic workflow that combines molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) separation, electron-transfer and higher-energy collision dissociation (EThcD) fragmentation, and a three-step database searching strategy for comprehensive PTM analysis of endogenous peptides including both N-glycosylation and O-glycosylation and other common peptide PTMs. The method has been successfully adopted to analyze CSF samples from healthy donors, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients to provide a landscape of peptidome in different disease states., (© 2024.
