- Abstract
Among the various obstructive behaviors during the design and planning of a medical curriculum, there is one that could be generally called flexnerian invective focused on disqualifying as anachronistic alternative and viable proposals to those desired to be imposed and that, particularly, refers to the current overcoming of what was maintained by the American educator Abraham Flexner has already been superseded. Considering that such disqualification is rooted in the partial lack of knowledge and decontextualization of his theoretical and practical heritage in medical education, this communication aims to rescue and rethink such contributions in the time frame that they occurred by resorting to his life (biography) and, simultaneously, to the value of his contributions (con-tents of his presented papers and books), Entre las varias conductas obstaculizadoras durante el diseño y planificación de un currículo médico, existe una a la que, en general, podría denominarse invectiva flexneriana centrada en descalificar propuestas alternativas y viables a la que se desea imponer por anacrónicas y que, en particular, alude a que lo sostenido en su oportunidad por el educador estadounidense Abraham Flexner se halla ya superado. Estimando que tal descalificación encuentra arraigo en el desconocimiento y la descontextualización de su herencia teórica y práctica en la educación médica, esta comunicación pretende rescatar y repensar tales aportes en el marco temporal que ocurrieron recurriendo a su vida (biografía) y, a la par, al valor de sus contribuciones (contenido de artículos y libros presentados).
