Abstract Using a transfer printing technique, we imprint a layer of a designated near-infrared fluorescent dye BTP-eC9 onto a thin layer of Pt(II) complex, both of which are capable of self-assembly. Before integration, the Pt(II) complex layer gives intense deep-red phosphorescence maximized at ~740 nm, while the BTP-eC9 layer shows fluorescence at > 900 nm. Organic light emitting diodes fabricated under the imprinted bilayer architecture harvest most of Pt(II) complex phosphorescence, which undergoes triplet-to-singlet energy transfer to the BTP-eC9 dye, resulting in high-intensity hyperfluorescence at > 900 nm. As a result, devices achieve 925 nm emission with external quantum efficiencies of 2.24% (1.94 ± 0.18%) and maximum radiance of 39.97 W sr−1 m−2. Comprehensive morphology, spectroscopy and device analyses support the mechanism of interfacial energy transfer, which also is proved successful for BTPV-eC9 dye (1022 nm), making bright and far-reaching the prospective of hyperfluorescent OLEDs in the near-infrared region.

Abstract This study illustrated the effectiveness of the knowledge, attitude, practice (KAP) intervention model for community hypertension in the elderly by the community physician‐led, describing the study design and baseline data. The aim of the study was to compare the changes in the elderly hypertensive population before and after the KAP intervention model by managing the elderly hypertensive patients for a period of 1 year. Basic information and risk factors affecting blood pressure control based on baseline data of recruited elderly hypertensive patients. The management approach consists of two parts: (1) the unified management of the community physician to whom the patient belongs; and (2) the management of the contracted patient by the community physician. The aim was to demonstrate the anti‐hypertensive effectiveness (control rate, blood pressure reduction, and pulse pressure), the distribution of blood pressure types, and the change of the KAP in elderly hypertensive patients before and after the intervention. The KAP intervention model was administered to 2660 elderly hypertensive patients in a 1‐year period. The blood pressure control rate improved by 54.03%. Mean values of overall systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased by 16.00 and 5.31 mmHg, respectively. The proportion of isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) and systolic‐diastolic hypertension (SDH) decreased by 29.14% and 24.81%, respectively. The KAP compliance improved significantly. These results suggest that the community physician‐led KAP intervention model is effective in the management of hypertension in the elderly.

Abstract Lately, carbazole‐based self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are widely employed as effective hole‐selective layers (HSLs) in inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Nevertheless, these SAMs tend to aggregate in solvents due to their amphiphilic nature, hindering the formation of a monolayer on the ITO substrate and impeding effective passivation of deep defects in the perovskites. In this study, a series of new SAMs including DPA‐B‐PY, CBZ‐B‐PY, POZ‐B‐PY, POZ‐PY, POZ‐T‐PY, and POZ‐BT‐PY are synthesized, which are employed as interfacial repairers and coated atop CNph SAM to form a robust CNph SAM@pseudo‐planar monolayer as HSL in efficient inverted PSCs. The CNph SAM@pseudo‐planar monolayer strategy enables a well‐aligned interface with perovskites, synergistically promoting perovskite crystal growth, improving charge extraction/transport, and minimizing nonradiative interfacial recombination loss. As a result, the POZ‐BT‐PY‐modified PSC realizes an impressively enhanced solar efficiency of up to 24.45% together with a fill factor of 82.63%. Furthermore, a wide bandgap PSC achieving over 19% efficiency. Upon treatment with the CNph SAM@pseudo‐planar monolayer, also demonstrates a non‐fullerene organic photovoltaics (OPVs) based on the PM6:BTP‐eC9 blend, which achieves an efficiency of 17.07%. Importantly, these modified PSCs and OPVs all show remarkably improved stability under various testing conditions compared to their control counterparts.

Abstract We simulate the Madden‐Julian oscillation (MJO) over an aquaplanet with uniform surface temperature using the multiscale modeling framework (MMF) configuration of the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM‐MMF). The model produces MJO‐like features that have a similar spatial structure and propagation behavior to the observed MJO. To explore the processes involved in the propagation and maintenance of these MJO‐like features, we perform a vertically resolved moist static energy (MSE) analysis for the MJO (Yao et al., 2022, https://doi.org/10.1175/jas‐d‐20‐0254.1). Unlike the column‐integrated MSE analysis, our method emphasizes the local production of MSE variance and quantifies how individual physical processes amplify and propagate the MJO's characteristic vertical structure. We find that radiation, convection, and boundary layer (BL) processes all contribute to maintaining the MJO, balanced by the large‐scale MSE transport. Furthermore, large‐scale dynamics, convection, and BL processes all contribute to the propagation of the MJO, while radiation slows the propagation. Additionally, we perform mechanism‐denial experiments to examine the role of radiation and associated feedbacks in simulating the MJO. We find that the MJO can still self‐emerge and maintain its characteristic structures without radiative feedbacks. This study highlights the role of convective MSE transport in the MJO dynamics, which was overlooked in the column‐integrated MSE analysis.

Abstract Chemo-immunotherapy combinations have been regarded as one of the most practical ways to improve immunotherapy response in cancer patients. In this study, we integrate the transcriptomics data from anti-PD-1-treated tumors and compound-treated cancer cell lines to systematically screen for chemo-immunotherapy synergisms in silico. Through analyzing anti-PD-1 induced expression changes in patient tumors, we develop a shift ability score to measure if a chemotherapy or a small molecule inhibitor treatment can shift anti-PD-1 resistance in tumor cells. By applying shift ability analysis to 41,321 compounds and 16,853 shRNA treated cancer cell lines transcriptomic data, we characterize the landscape of chemo-immunotherapy synergism and experimentally validated a mitochondrial RNA-dependent mechanism for drug-induced immune activation in tumor. Our study represents an effort to mechanistically characterize chemo-immunotherapy synergism and will facilitate future pre-clinical and clinical studies.

Sulfation is a crucial and prevalent conjugation reaction involved in cellular processes and mammalian physiology. 3′-Phosphoadenosine 5′-phosphosulfate (PAPS) synthase 2 (PAPSS2) is the primary enzyme to generate the universal sulfonate donor PAPS. The involvement of PAPSS2-mediated sulfation in adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) mutation-promoted colonic carcinogenesis has not been reported. Here, we showed that the expression of PAPSS2 was decreased in human colon tumors along with cancer stages, and the lower expression of PAPSS2 was correlated with poor prognosis in advanced colon cancer. Gut epithelial-specific heterozygous Apc deficient and Papss2-knockout (ApcΔgut-HetPapss2Δgut) mice were created, and the phenotypes were compared to the spontaneous intestinal tumorigenesis of ApcΔgut-Het mice. ApcΔgut-HetPapss2Δgut mice were more sensitive to gut tumorigenesis, which was mechanistically accounted for by the activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway due to the suppression of chondroitin sulfation and inhibition of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR)-transducin-like enhancer of split 3 (TLE3) gene regulatory axis. Chondroitin sulfate supplementation in ApcΔgut-HetPapss2Δgut mice alleviated intestinal tumorigenesis. In summary, we have uncovered the protective role of PAPSS2-mediated chondroitin sulfation and bile acids–FXR–TLE3 activation in the prevention of gut carcinogenesis via the antagonization of Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Chondroitin sulfate may be explored as a therapeutic agent for Papss2 deficiency-associated colonic carcinogenesis.

Tissue-clearing and labeling techniques have revolutionized brain-wide imaging and analysis, yet their application to clinical formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) blocks remains challenging. We introduce HIF-Clear, a novel method for efficiently clearing and labeling centimeter-thick FFPE specimens using elevated temperature and concentrated detergents. HIF-Clear with multi-round immunolabeling reveals neuron circuitry regulating multiple neurotransmitter systems in a whole FFPE mouse brain and is able to be used as the evaluation of disease treatment efficiency. HIF-Clear also supports expansion microscopy and can be performed on a non-sectioned 15-year-old FFPE specimen, as well as a 3-month formalin-fixed mouse brain. Thus, HIF-Clear represents a feasible approach for researching archived FFPE specimens for future neuroscientific and 3D neuropathological analyses.

Abstract Background PD-1/PD-L1 blockade plays a crucial role in cancer immunotherapy. Exploration of new technologies to further enhance the efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 blockade is therefore of potential medical importance. Nanotherapeutics can accumulate in tumor tissues due to enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effects. In this study, a novel nanotherapeutic for cancer immunotherapy was implemented with albumin nanoparticles functionalized by both PD-1 and PD-L1 aptamers. Results Albumin nanoparticles (NP) were functionalized with either PD-1 aptamers (PD1-NP), PD-L1 aptamers (PDL1-NP), or both types of aptamers (PD1-NP-PDL1). Average sizes of PD1-NP, PDL1-NP, and PD1-NP-PDL1 were 141.8 nm, 141.8 nm, and 164.2 nm, respectively. PD1-NP had good affinity for activated T cells that expresses PD-1. Similarly, PDL1-NP could bind with MDA-MB-231 or CT26 tumor cells that express PD-L1. Moreover, the bispecific PD1-NP-PDL1 could bind with both the activated T cells and the PD-L1-expressing tumor cells, and tether the two type of cells together. Functionally, aptamer-modified nanoparticles exhibited stronger immune-stimulating effects vs. free aptamers. Specifically, PD1-NP or PDL1-NP induced stronger lymphocyte-mediated cytotoxicity against PD-L1-expressing tumor cells in vitro vs. free PD-1 or PD-L1 aptamers. Animal studies also showed that PD1-NP or PDL1-NP significantly improved antitumor efficacy against CT26 colon cancer in vivo vs. free PD-1 or PD-L1 aptamers. Importantly, the bispecific PD1-NP-PDL1 further boosted the in vivo antitumor efficacy compared with PD1-NP or PDL1-NP, without raising systemic toxicity. Conclusion The results suggest that the bispecific PD1-NP-PDL1 is a promising nanotherapeutic to improve the efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 blockade, and may have application potential in colon cancer treatment.

Abstract The multifaceted chemo-immune resistance is the principal barrier to achieving cure in cancer patients. Identifying a target that is critically involved in chemo-immune-resistance represents an attractive strategy to improve cancer treatment. iRhom1 plays a role in cancer cell proliferation and its expression is negatively correlated with immune cell infiltration. Here we show that iRhom1 decreases chemotherapy sensitivity by regulating the MAPK14-HSP27 axis. In addition, iRhom1 inhibits the cytotoxic T-cell response by reducing the stability of ERAP1 protein and the ERAP1-mediated antigen processing and presentation. To facilitate the therapeutic translation of these findings, we develop a biodegradable nanocarrier that is effective in codelivery of iRhom pre-siRNA (pre-siiRhom) and chemotherapeutic drugs. This nanocarrier is effective in tumor targeting and penetration through both enhanced permeability and retention effect and CD44-mediated transcytosis in tumor endothelial cells as well as tumor cells. Inhibition of iRhom1 further facilitates tumor targeting and uptake through inhibition of CD44 cleavage. Co-delivery of pre-siiRhom and a chemotherapy agent leads to enhanced antitumor efficacy and activated tumor immune microenvironment in multiple cancer models in female mice. Targeting iRhom1 together with chemotherapy could represent a strategy to overcome chemo-immune resistance in cancer treatment.

Abstract Designing an organic polymer photocatalyst for efficient hydrogen evolution with visible and near-infrared (NIR) light activity is still a major challenge. Unlike the common behavior of gradually increasing the charge recombination while shrinking the bandgap, we present here a series of polymer nanoparticles (Pdots) based on ITIC and BTIC units with different π-linkers between the acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) repeated moieties of the polymer. These polymers act as an efficient single polymer photocatalyst for H2 evolution under both visible and NIR light, without combining or hybridizing with other materials. Importantly, the difluorothiophene (ThF) π-linker facilitates the charge transfer between acceptors of different repeated moieties (A-D-A-(π-Linker)-A-D-A), leading to the enhancement of charge separation between D and A. As a result, the PITIC-ThF Pdots exhibit superior hydrogen evolution rates of 279 µmol/h and 20.5 µmol/h with visible (>420 nm) and NIR (>780 nm) light irradiation, respectively. Furthermore, PITIC-ThF Pdots exhibit a promising apparent quantum yield (AQY) at 700 nm (4.76%).

To explore and utilize the abundant soil microorganisms and their beneficial functions, high-throughput sequencing technology was used to analyze soil microbial compositions in the rhizosphere of red and green amaranth varieties. The results showed that significant differences in soil microbial composition could be found in the rhizosphere of amaranth plants with different color phenotypes. Firstly, soil bacterial compositions in the rhizosphere were significantly different between red and green amaranths. Among them, Streptomyces, Pseudonocardia, Pseudolabrys, Acidibacter, norank_ f_ Micropepsaceae, Bradyrhizobium, and Nocardioides were the unique dominant soil bacterial genera in the rhizosphere of red amaranth. In contrast, Conexibacter, norank_f_norank_o_norank_c_TK10, and norank_f_ norank_o_ norank_ c_AD3 were the special dominant soil bacterial genera in the rhizosphere of green amaranth. Additionally, even though the soil fungal compositions in the rhizosphere were not significantly different between red and green amaranths, the abundance of the dominant soil fungal genera in the rhizosphere showed significant differences between red and green amaranths. For example, unclassified_k__Fungi, Fusarium, Cladophialophora, unclassified_c__Sordariomycetes and unclassified_p__Chytridiomycota significantly enriched as the dominant soil fungal genera in the rhizosphere of the red amaranth. In contrast, Aspergillues only significantly enriched as the dominant soil fungal genus in the rhizosphere of green amaranth. All of the above results indicated that amaranth with various color phenotypes exactly recruited different microorganisms in rhizosphere, and the enrichments of soil microorganisms in the rhizosphere could be speculated in contributing to amaranth color formations.

Compared to 2D imaging data, the 4D light field (LF) data retains richer scene’s structure information, which can significantly improve the computer’s perception capability, including depth estimation, semantic segmentation, and LF rendering. However, there is a contradiction between spatial and angular resolution during the LF image acquisition period. To overcome the above problem, researchers have gradually focused on the light field super-resolution (LFSR). In the traditional solutions, researchers achieved the LFSR based on various optimization frameworks, such as Bayesian and Gaussian models. Deep learning-based methods are more popular than conventional methods because they have better performance and more robust generalization capabilities. In this paper, the present approach can mainly divided into conventional methods and deep learning-based methods. We discuss these two branches in light field spatial super-resolution (LFSSR), light field angular super-resolution (LFASR), and light field spatial and angular super-resolution (LFSASR), respectively. Subsequently, this paper also introduces the primary public datasets and analyzes the performance of the prevalent approaches on these datasets. Finally, we discuss the potential innovations of the LFSR to propose the progress of our research field.

Light Field (LF) depth estimation is an important research direction in the area of computer vision and computational photography, which aims to infer the depth information of different objects in three-dimensional scenes by capturing LF data. Given this new era of significance, this article introduces a survey of the key concepts, methods, novel applications, and future trends in this area. We summarize the LF depth estimation methods, which are usually based on the interaction of radiance from rays in all directions of the LF data, such as epipolar-plane, multi-view geometry, focal stack, and deep learning. We analyze the many challenges facing each of these approaches, including complex algorithms, large amounts of computation, and speed requirements. In addition, this survey summarizes most of the currently available methods, conducts some comparative experiments, discusses the results, and investigates the novel directions in LF depth estimation.

To explore how endophytic microbial compositions in amaranth roots are influenced by various fertilization methods and to determine whether these microbes are associated with amaranthin formation, we conducted an analysis of the endophytic microbial community structure. The roots of amaranth plants subjected to different fertilization treatments—conventional fertilization without potassium (NP), conventional fertilization without phosphorus (NK), conventional fertilization without nitrogen (PK), and balanced fertilization (NPK)—were examined. The results showed that the proportions of Streptomyces, Actinospica, and Burkholderia-Caballeronia-Paraburkholderia in the amaranth roots under the balanced fertilization (NPK) treatment were all greater than those in the amaranth roots under the nitrogen (PK), phosphorus (NK), and potassium (NP) deficiency fertilization treatments. In contrast, the proportions of Phenylobacterium, Acrocalymma, Neocosmospora, Fusarium, Acidovorax, Gibellulopsis, Cladosporium, Dactylonectria, and Gibberella in the amaranth roots under the nutrient deficiency fertilization (NP, NK, and PK) treatments were higher than those in the amaranth roots under the balanced fertilization treatment. Additionally, a significantly positive correlation was found between Streptomyces and the amaranthin content. Furthermore, Acrocalymma, Neocosmospora, and Fusarium exhibited significantly negative correlations with the amaranthin content. The above results suggested that endophytes could easily colonize in amaranth roots as beneficial microorganisms under balanced fertilization conditions. In other words, the balanced fertilization (N, P and K fertilizers are 188.0, 53.0 and 50.0 kg·hm−2, respectively) could recruit more beneficial endogenous microorganisms in amaranth roots for improving their growth and quality.

Understanding the climate dynamics at the inner edge of the habitable zone is crucial for predicting the habitability of rocky exoplanets. Previous studies using global climate models (GCMs) have indicated that planets receiving high stellar flux can exhibit climate bifurcations, leading to bistability between a cold (temperate) and a hot (runaway) climate. However, the mechanism causing this bistability has not been fully explained, in part due to the difficulty associated with inferring mechanisms from small numbers of expensive numerical simulations in GCMs. In this study, we employ a two-column (dayside and nightside), two-layer climate model to investigate the physical mechanisms driving this bistability. Through mechanism-denial experiments, we demonstrate that the runaway greenhouse effect, coupled with a cloud feedback on either the dayside or nightside, leads to climate bistability. We also map out the parameters that control the location of the bifurcations and size of the bistability. This work identifies which mechanisms and GCM parameters control the stellar flux at which rocky planets are likely to retain a hot, thick atmosphere if they experience a hot start. This is critical for the prioritization of targets and interpretation of observations by the James Webb Space Telescope. Furthermore, our modeling framework can be extended to planets with different condensable species and cloud types.

Abstract Root metabolites and soil microbial community structure in the rhizosphere play critical roles in crop growth. Here, we assessed the efficiency of conventional and tissue culture propagation methods in modulating the soil health and microbiota in the rhizosphere of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) plants. The seeding canes were obtained using newly planted and two‐year ratooned canes propagated by conventional (CSN and CSR) or tissue culture (TCN and TCR) methods. Changes in soil fertility, root metabolites and soil microbial community structure in the rhizosphere of sugarcane plants obtained using these canes were assessed. The activities of soil β‐glucosidase and aminopeptidase, soil microbial biomass nitrogen, and abundances of soil beneficial microbes, both at phyla and genera levels, were significantly higher in the rhizosphere of sugarcane plants in TCN and TCR treatments than those in that of plants in CSN and CSR treatments. Furthermore, flavonoid and flavonol biosynthesis and alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism were significantly upregulated in the roots of TCR and TCN plants compared with those in the roots of CSN and CSR plants. These results suggest that the tissue culture propagation method is a sustainable method for sugarcane cultivation to improve soil fertility and health in sugarcane rhizosphere.

(1) Background: The effect of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. (D. nobile) on hyperglycemic syndrome has only been recently known for several years. Materials of D. nobile were always collected from the plants cultivated in various growth ages. However, regarding the efficacy of D. nobile on hyperglycemic syndrome, it was still unknown as to which cultivation age would be selected. On the other hand, with the lack of quality markers, it is difficult to control the quality of D. nobile to treat hyperglycemic syndrome. (2) Methods: The effects of D. nobile cultivated at year 1 and year 3 were checked on alloxan-induced diabetic mice while their body weight, diet, water intake, and urinary output were monitored. Moreover, levels of glycosylated serum protein and insulin were measured using Elisa kits. The constituents of D. nobile were identified and analyzed by using UPLC-Q/trap. Quality markers were screened out by integrating the data from UPLC-Q/trap into a network pharmacology model. (3) Results: The D. nobile cultivated at both year 1 and year 3 showed a significant effect on hyperglycemic syndrome at the high dosage level; however, regarding the significant level, D. nobile from year 1 showed the better effect. In D. nobile, most of the metabolites were identified as alkaloids and sesquiterpene glycosides. Alkaloids, represented by dendrobine, were enriched in D. nobile from year 1, while sesquiterpene glycosides were enriched in D. nobile from year 3. Twenty one metabolites were differentially expressed between D. nobile from year 1 and year 3. The aforementioned 21 metabolites were enriched to 34 therapeutic targets directly related to diabetes. (4) Conclusions: Regarding the therapy for hyperglycemic syndrome, D. nobile cultivated at year 1 was more recommended than that at year 3. Alkaloids were recommended to be used as markers to control the quality of D. nobile for hyperglycemic syndrome treatment.

Proteins containing the homologous E6-AP carboxyl-terminal (HECT) domain are a class of E3 ubiquitin ligases involved in the ubiquitin–proteasome pathway, which plays an irreplaceable role in plant growth, development, and stress resistance. However, a phylogenetic analysis and expression profile of the HECT gene (PtrHECT) in the model plant Populus trichocarpa (Torr. & Gray) have not been reported. In this study, we identified 13 PtrHECT genes using genome-wide analysis, and then these were divided into four groups. The protein interaction networks showed that the PtrHECT protein may interact with PTR6 and participate in ABA signal regulation. Abiotic stress is the main environmental factor limiting plant growth and development. The qRT-PCR results showed that PtrHECT1, 4, 7, 8, and 9 were significantly up-regulated in leaves at each time point under drought stress, and most PtrHECT genes responded to both drought and high salt stress, consistent with their promoter sequence analysis, revealing the presence of an important number of phytohormone-responsive and stress-related cis-regulatory elements. This study provides useful information for further analysis of the functions of the HECT gene family in P. trichocarpa.

Background: Productive life (PL) of a cow is the time the cow remains in the milking herd from first calving to exit from the herd due to culling or death and is an important economic trait in U.S. Holstein cattle. The large samples of Holstein genomic evaluation data that have become available recently provided unprecedented statistical power to identify genetic factors affecting PL in Holstein cows using the approach of genome-wide association study (GWAS). Methods: The GWAS analysis used 1,103,641 Holstein cows with phenotypic observations on PL and genotypes of 75,282 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. The statistical tests and estimation of SNP additive and dominance effects used the approximate generalized least squares method implemented by the EPISNPmpi computer program. Results: The GWAS detected 5390 significant additive effects of PL distributed over all 29 autosomes and the X–Y nonrecombining region of the X chromosome (Chr31). Two chromosome regions had the most significant and largest cluster of additive effects, the SLC4A4-GC-NPFFR2 (SGN) region of Chr06 with pleiotropic effects for PL, fertility, somatic cell score and milk yield; and the 32–52 Mb region of Chr10 with peak effects for PL in or near RASGRP1 with many important immunity functions. The dominance tests detected 38 significant dominance effects including 12 dominance effects with sharply negative homozygous recessive genotypes on Chr18, Chr05, Chr23 and Chr24. Conclusions: The GWAS results showed that highly significant genetic effects for PL were in chromosome regions known to have highly significant effects for fertility and health and a chromosome region with multiple genes with reproductive and immunity functions. SNPs with rare but sharply negative homozygous recessive genotypes for PL existed and should be used for eliminating heifers carrying those homozygous recessive genotypes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simulated moving bed chromatography (SMB) is a proven and efficient separation tool for the complex separation needs of a variety of industries. On the basis of analysis on the SMB chromatographic separation, the appropriate indexes were selected to optimize and control the separation process. Taking the component purity and yield of extract and residual solution as prediction objects, the soft-sensor modeling was conducted based on online sequential extreme learning machine (OS-ELM), online sequential reduced kernel extreme learning machine (OS-RKELM) and regularized online sequential extreme learning machine (ReOS-ELM). The results show that different limit learning functions can effectively realize the accurate prediction of key economic and technical indexes, and can meet the real-time, efficient and robust operation of SMB chromatographic separation process. A genome-wide association study of resistance to retained placenta (RETP) using 632,212 Holstein cows and 74,747 SNPs identified 200 additive effects with p-values < 10−8 on thirteen chromosomes but no dominance effect was statistically significant. The regions of 87.61–88.74 Mb of Chr09 about 1.13 Mb in size had the most significant effect in LOC112448080 and other highly significant effects in CCDC170 and ESR1, and in or near RMND1 and AKAP12. Four non-ESR1 genes in this region were reported to be involved in ESR1 fusions in humans. Chr23 had the largest number of significant effects that peaked in SLC17A1, which was involved in urate metabolism and transport that could contribute to kidney disease. The PKHD1 gene contained seven significant effects and was downstream of another six significant effects. The ACOT13 gene also had a highly significant effect. Both PKHD1 and ACOT13 were associated with kidney disease. Another highly significant effect was upstream of BOLA-DQA2. The KITLG gene of Chr05 that acts in utero in germ cell and neural cell development, and hematopoiesis was upstream of a highly significant effect, contained a significant effect, and was between another two significant effects. In modern industrial production processes, hard instruments are often used to measure quality variables in industrial processes, but they are often subject to various economic or technical limitations and cannot successfully complete real-time monitoring tasks. In order to alleviate these problems, the soft-sensor technology is used to estimate the quality variables in real time, and a suitable prediction model is established. The process variables that can be directly measured are selected as input variables to estimate the target variables that are difficult to measure directly. Taking the iron content of ore, a key economic and technical index in the grinding process, as the prediction object, a MLP neural network soft-sensor model of grinding process based on swarm intelligent optimization algorithms is proposed. Based on the MLP neural network, the neural network is regarded as a nonlinear function. For the error function composed of nonlinear functions, an intelligent optimization algorithm is introduced to optimize it. After the optimized optimal model parameters, namely weights and thresholds, are re-assigned to the neural network, the neural network is used to predict the target variables. The simulation results indicate that the improved model exhibits enhanced generalization performance and predictive accuracy, making it capable of meeting the real-time control demands of the grinding and classification production process. Camels, vital to economies in Asia, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula, have been domesticated for over 4000 years. They thrive in arid regions like Xinjiang, China, but face challenges from internal and external parasites, particularly gastrointestinal parasites, which impact health, meat and milk quality, and production efficiency. This study investigates the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminth infections in camels from five major regions in Xinjiang. We collected 435 fresh fecal samples and used the saturated saline flotation method and McMaster's method for detection. Molecular examination followed. The overall prevalence was 18.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 14.7-22.2%), with Urumqi showing the highest prevalence (29%, 95% CI: 23.4-35.1%) compared to other regions (odds ratio [OR]: 4.62, 95% CI: 2.63-8.41%). Younger camels (≤3 years old) were more likely infected by the parasites after adjusting for the region differences (OR: 10.53, 5.12-24.65%). However, we found no evidence that the prevalence was different between male and female camels. PCR analysis identified Trichostrongylus spp., Chabertia ovina , and Haemonchus contortus as predominant parasites, with observed co-infections indicating a complex parasitic landscape. The findings provide essential epidemiological data for effective parasite control strategies.

Aquatic ecosystems are primary repositories for microplastics (MPs), which pose significant risks to aquatic organisms. This study addresses the gap in understanding the effects of MPs pollution by analyzing 3,757 biological endpoints from 85 laboratory studies. Overall, our results indicate that MPs exposure significantly inhibits fish growth, survival, and reproductive ability, and increases oxidative damage, specifically, MPs exposure leads to elevated levels of malondialdehyde. However, MPs do not have a significant impact on the diversity of fish gut microbiota. Subgroup and correlation analyses indicate that the extent of various toxic effects is influenced by multiple factors, including MPs' type, exposure pathway, size, concentration, as well as the aquatic environment or life stage of the fish. In addition, the regression analysis revealed a relationship between the magnitude of toxic effects and the size, concentration, or duration of MPs exposure. In recent years, the incidence and mortality rates of cardiovascular diseases in China have kept rising, with no significant reduction in disease burden observed. Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is an effective approach for treating coronary artery disease. Drug-eluting stents and drug-coated balloons are currently the most common PCI devices used in clinical practice. However, challenges with restenosis and late-stage thrombotic events persist. Inhibiting the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells while enhancing endothelial cell activity is crucial for reducing restenosis and preventing thrombosis, and it remains a challenge in research. The active compounds and extracts of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), particularly the combinations of active compounds in coatings, possess multi-target potential and serve as a supplement to coatings prepared from synthetic compounds. This review elucidates the application of TCM active compounds(such as arsenic trioxide, paclitaxel, hirudin, tetramethylpyrazine, emodin, oxymatrine, and curcumin), combinations of TCM active compounds(paclitaxel/hirudin, geniposide/baicalin), and TCM extracts(such as Curcumae Rhizoma extract and Tripterygium hypoglaucum extract) in the coatings for PCI devices in recent years. Furthermore, this review expounds the current challenges and future prospects in this field, giving insights into the innovation of PCI devices.

The continuous expansion of modern cities not only leads to ecological degradation but also seriously threatens regional ecological security and sustainable development. The construction of ecological security patterns (ESPs) has emerged as a significant approach to alleviate or even solve the conflict between regional development and ecological protection. The Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle (CCEC) represents the core area of regional economic development strategy in western China, characterized by rapid economic growth from 2000 to 2020. This study integrates assessments of ecosystem services importance, eco-environmental sensitivity and landscape connectivity; uses circuit theory and hydrological analysis to establish a research framework for the spatiotemporal evolution of regional ESP; and develops an optimized ESP combined with the Major Function Oriented Zone. The results indicate that urban expansion significantly impacted the ESP of the CCEC between 2000 and 2020. The fragmentation and merging of ecological sources occurred simultaneously, the number of patches reduced by 28.13% from 64 to 46. The early ecological security network was compromised, leading to the disappearance or elongation of some ecological corridors. The number of ecological corridors decreased by 36.03% from 136 to 87; the total length was reduced by 29.92% from 7500.57 km to 5256.28 km. Urgent optimization of the ESP is needed, reducing the number of key ecological protection areas by 50% from 106 to 53 while increasing priority restoration areas by 13.51% from 37 to 42. The study also reveals the insufficiency of the current Major Function Oriented Zone in protecting linear corridors, necessitating focused attention on the protection and restoration of ecological sources and surrounding corridors in important development zones. Additionally, a spatial optimization strategy of "one shelter, two cores, and three regions" is proposed to enhance regional ecosystem stability and connectivity. The aim was to strike a balance between ecological protection and food security by recommending an ecological corridor width range of 30∼100 m. To investigate the effects of B. subtilis on the specific immune response of lactating sows to E. coli and the diarrhea rate in suckling piglets, thirty large white sows with similar farrowing dates were randomly divided into two groups: a feedback feeding (i.e., feeding a homogenate of intestinal contents and tissues from E. coli -infected piglets to sows; FB) group and a feedback feeding with B. subtilis (FB + BS) group. Serum, colostrum, and intestinal tissues from sows and piglets were collected to assess the immune response and intestinal barrier function at weaning. T and B cells from Peyer's patches (PPs) and mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs) in lactating mice (with treatments consistent with the sows') were isolated to explore the underlying mechanism. The results showed that, compared with the FB group, the reproductive performance of sows and the growth performance of their offspring were effectively improved in the FB + BS group. Moreover, the levels of IgG/IgA and those of IgG/IgA against E. coli in the serum and colostrum of sows in the FB+BS group were increased ( p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the ratio of CD4+/CD8+, CD4+CXCR5+PD1+, and B220+IgA+ cells in MLNs and PPs, and the IgA levels in the mammary glands of mice, were also increased in the FB + BS group ( p < 0.05). Notably, in suckling piglets in the FB + BS group, the diarrhea rate was decreased ( p < 0.05), and the intestinal barrier function and intestinal flora composition at weaning were significantly improved. Overall, these results indicated that B. subtilis feed supplementation combined with feedback feeding in pregnant and lactating sows can reduce diarrhea in suckling piglets by enhancing the maternal immune response against E. coli and intestinal barrier function in their offspring, improving survival rates and pre-weaning growth.

Digital dermatitis is one of the most important causes of lameness in dairy cattle, particularly in housed, intensively-managed cattle. The number of modern intensive dairy farms in China has increased markedly in recent years; however, we lack research on digital dermatitis in Chinese dairy cattle. This preliminary study aimed to estimate the prevalence of digital dermatitis on three conveniently selected farms in Jiangsu, China. The washed hind feet of all lactating cows on all three farms were examined during milking with the aid of a mobile phone light source. True prevalence was then estimated from the apparent prevalence using a Bayesian superpopulation approach to account for the imperfect nature of identifying digital dermatitis in cows during milking. Despite none of the farms having thought it necessary to implement routine digital dermatitis monitoring or control, the disease was found on all three sampled farms. All lesions observed were either chronic M4 or M4.1 type-lesions, with no M2 lesions (i.e. acute ulcerated lesions) observed. In diagnostic accuracy studies, a commonly employed approach involves dichotomizing continuous data and subsequently analyzing them using a Bayesian latent class model (BLCM), often relying on binomial or multinomial distributions, rather than preserving their continuous nature. However, this procedure can inadvertently lead to less reliable outcomes due to the inherent loss of information when converting the original continuous measurements into binary values. Through comprehensive simulations, we demonstrated the limitations and disadvantages of dichotomizing continuous biomarkers from two correlated tests. Our findings highlighted notable disparities between the true values and the model estimates as a result of dichotomization. We discovered the crucial significance of selecting a reference test with high diagnostic accuracy in test evaluation in order to obtain reliable estimates of test accuracy and prevalences.
