This document summarizes the findings of a pilot study on shared decision-making in the surgical treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The study aimed to assess the impact of a decision aid on decisional conflict levels and postoperative care understanding. The results showed that the decision aid did not significantly affect decisional conflict levels, but participants who reviewed the decision aid had a better understanding of postoperative care. The study suggests that shared decision-making may not be necessary for medically refractory CRS patients deciding on surgery, but further research is needed to understand the socioeconomic and cultural factors that may influence shared decision-making.
